Not only do you reuire a constant connection to the internet, every action has to be sent to an online server. So if you have a poor internet connection, or a horrid one, like satelite, be prepared to wait two full seconds between all your actions. Say for example, begining an attack, and it going to the server, and coming back, then the attack happening.

    Overall, way below expectations.

Then it happened again, then i was brought to the main screen with a message saying server shutting down! and there was no news in the news box to announce it!

The graphics are not bad but not spectacular either. You lost a lot of the customization from the previous games. I really hope that blizzard learns a harsh lesson from this and realize that fans posting here are not trolls just out to bash the game but gamers with serious gripes about how the game is handled right now. And i do hope that people reading this realize that the high scores done by the pros are or course sugarcoated and they would never decrease the rating of this game due to it being a cash cow of publicity for them on their site since Diablo ads are plastered over most of them.

The game has its merit but i have seen way better game that got barely any praise but were as better than this. Titan Quest comes to mind! yes i said and i am pluggin it in. Want a good Diablo clone that does not force you to be online. Then buy Titan Quest and the expansion and you will be rewarded with long hours of pure fun. More than this game will ever give out without you having to shell more money to make it longer.

I can see this game die a quick death after most people have done one walkthru... i am sorry if it looks like i am all over the place with this but there is so many things done wrong with the game. It had potential but Blizzard decide to ------ this game out instead of making a proper sequel, The people who made the decision about this game should go. Otherwise Blizzard is gonna go down the drain on their other games othen than WoW.

This was fun while you played it... but for a diablo game, which always used to have an unlimited amount of replay ability, this has none. Jay Wilson tried to make it too "original" instead of keeping the tried and tested elements that Diablo had, and STILL worked when D2 came out. An extreme leveling grind, easy farm able gear from anywhere in the game.... there was no reason to remove these elements, and it is evident that they did not work. The attitude the game developers have towards the subject, and I quote from their videos "Sometimes gamers tell us what they want, but we know better", an arrogant statement, that proved 100% false. Good work on killing a classic, and my favorite game series of all time. I hope it is fixed in the future so I feel like I can play again. Expand

The voice acting is TERRIBLE. Terrible, god damn it. The game's customization steered away from talent trees to this dumbed down "pick 6 skills and mash" system. Look up diablo 2 on gamefaqs and at their indepth/character guides and recognize how watered down this game is, compared to it's predecessor. The graphics are straight from the 2004 era, which, I can understand, considering blizzard strong arms you into playing online, but they could have at least used cell-shaded graphics. As it stands I won't buy the sequel, or any blizzard game at this point. It's down right appalling that people still buy the mountains of **** blizzard craps out and call it gold. This game is not gold, it's a long, tedious grind, that won't even last you 3 days. Worst of all, it's a loot game but it's so painfully randomized that you could spend your whole day grinding, even using exploits to make it go by faster, and never find a single piece of useful gear. You are better off going to the royal crypts loaded up with +Gold find, and buying **** off the AH. I have a firm belief that every game should last it's cost in hours. Diablo should have brought to me 60 hours of enjoyable time spent for the 60 bucks I had to pay. Instead I played it for 13 hours, enjoyed the cinematics, then the other 26 hours I begrudgingly put into it, I was banging my head against the desk, and the only thing that made it even remotely tolerable or why I kept going to begin with was because I had 6 people to play it with. I got skyrim 2 weeks ago and I'd say I'm about 20% through the **** game and still loving it. Sufficed to say, I haven't even touched diablo since and don't have the slightest desire to pick it up again, even if I played a new class. Blizzard really doesn't respect it's fanbase at all, if they think they can get away with marketing this and expecting us to eat it up. Game get's a 2/10, for not meeting my hour to cost quota, wasting 20+ hours of my life, and in all honesty, being drastically underwhelming for a game I have been waiting 10-11 years for. Imagine that - I want to play a single player game, by myself, and my greatest adversary is LAG, a common ONLINE MULTIPLAYER problem. Blizzard seriously screwed over its consumers by adding this stupid always online requirement, and the main reason seems to be for the real money auction house, a feature few asked for and even fewer want now that they've had to deal with the constant online issues.

If you haven't bought it, do yourself a favor and don't. It is a great game, but given all the problems you have to deal withm it's not worth $60. it's not even worth $10, with all these issues. Vote with your money, tell Blizzard this is NOT acceptable.

Diablo I was possibly the first-PC game I've ever played and that hooked me into the Diablo franchise. The thing with the 2 rating is due to technical support. Never release a game that isn't a hundred percent complete. I know that developers are working and that bugs, errors, etc. will happen.. I'd give it two days to fix the problem like how they fixed OBT's problem in a day. ButDiablo I was possibly the first-PC game I've ever played and that hooked me into the Diablo franchise. Some of the quests are run and do this, or that, and then run back. While a lot of the running (back) is fixed with stones to teleport back to town with, it still is a bit monotonous. The stash is pretty ingenious, though, I REALLY wish you had about 2 to 3 times the space to start with. It'll make creating mules easy. Right now, it is hard to really recommend this game, since you generally spend as much time looking at loading screens, as you do playing the game. That is a major problem. Something that really has to be fixed, and fast. I spent $60 for this game, while PC games go for $50. I paid a very high premium price for a product that, at best, I can use about 1/3 of the time I want to. Expand

The launch was hilariously terrible but only for US players. It seems Blizzard spent their time and money and focused on the Europe/Asia regions as they were able to play continuously while the US region was taken down for most of launch day and again the day after with fifteen minute server restarts ( sounds like an MMO problem, Diablo is an MMO? ).

Another major issue is the always on connection. You are connected to a server at all times and if you connection to that server lags just a little bit the game will rubber-banned. A single player game rubber-banning is messed up and disconnects will not save anything the last 5-10 minutes so if you start to rubber-ban it's best to stand still and see if the latency bar goes back to green.

When you are eventually able to play it's great to play with friends. While the only thing it changes is the health points of the enemies it does make it more interesting to play when friends are there to save you or die doing something stupid. Alone it can be somewhat mindless but in a good way I guess. It appeals to some of the OCD nature in all of us to clear everything and destroy everything. They picked the perfect time to release the game as the PC gaming market is dull at the moment for major titles especially in this category. There are real money auction houses that can be used to sell or buy items with real money. Blizzard takes a large cut of the sale and there are fee's for transferring back to something like PayPal.

I'll be quite surprised if it lasts more than two weeks for me.

When I have managed to play, the graphics look pretty average, fighting doesn't seem to require much skill (I'm not sure if this changes on harder difficulties), and there is too much trash between important fights. I'm so angered by Blizzard at this disgrace of a game. They legalized gold selling,("its legal when we get the money",) Changed the art style completely (from a dark fantasy to wow), Completely casusalized everything (no stats, customisation, difficulty). It's just so bland. Also whats with the achievements? i spent about an hour playing (dont read as i played for 1 hour) and got 10 achievements, what on earth is that? thats not an achievement, an achievement implies that i actually did some work rather than killed 10 zombies. I also had the game spoiled by the achievements, it pops up on your screen in big when someone gets one and basically tells you who the bosses are gonna be later on, Real ID killed the immersion so bad.

It seems like the game was intended as a reboot to the franchise, but instead (because it was terrible) was turned into the third game in the series, to sell more copies. Why is the game so easy? i complained to one of my friends about how it was so easy and just a boring grind due to how easy it was, and he basically told me to complete it (6-10 hours of playtime) to get to a harder difficulty. Why cant i change the difficulty? i would've enjoyed the game a hell of a lot more if i was actually presented anything that could actually kill me for the first 5 hours of the game.

Isn't this supposed to be a AAA game? Then why are most of the monsters in the game copied straight from the previous 2 games and World of Warcraft? I wouldn't have minded a couple of copied monsters every now and then but goddamn they used so many.

Last thing, it seems like the complete first act and second were copied completely from diablo 2. And the entire first act is comprised of "oh hey its the characters from the previous games, look look they're talking to these people that are in the new one, holy **** they must be amazing if the old characters are talking to them. Oh Jesus! look its that boss from the first 2 games, oh god he's massive now JESUS CHRIST LOOKOUT!". But you can kill it with frogs.

This game was a waste of time, dont bother buying or even looking at it again, its a failure. Its AS BAD as Duke Nukem Forever. Stay away.

Also, the skill trees/RPG leveling up has been removed??? That makes no sense at all... It also seemed like the Graphics are a little cartoony and not as evil as they used to be... I have never played WOW so I don't know if they are the same graphics but Diablo 2 had better details and the environment was better... The always online requirement is stupid as well. There is no reason to have any game "online only" and especially a single player only game... I don't really care about the "piracy" concerns because people are going to crack this game just like they crack all games... It just makes no sense, especially with that auction house, this is a game about looting and exploration.. it's about going out and finding rare items and weapons... So why would anybody go on an auction house to buy items??? doesn't that take all the fun out of it? Also paying money beyond the 60$ price tag for in game items is ludicrous...

IF WE WANTED TO BUY WoW WE WOULD. Gamers buy new games precisely for variety, not for the same: a tired, dying franchise. Where are the great, enduring features of Diablo 2? Where are the randomly generated maps that gave us years of replay value? Diablo 2 required us to specialize within one character class. The result was a variety of builds for Barbarian, Sorceress, etc. Now, every class can redistribute skills at any time. Every character is a jack-of-all-trades within its class. Sorry, that's boring. Every Barbarian is the same. Every Wizard is the same. Etc. You could argue that specialization is limiting and therefor boring, but there's an answer. DEVELOP THE SPECIALIZATIONS MORE DEEPLY! There are further missteps within the game like the lack of difficulty, the brevity of the game (you can clear the game in one sitting as monk at normal difficulty) and the constant barrage of annoying cinematics. I can't list everything here, but I have to mention the complete nerf-ing of teleport. The skill is a pathetic, insulting shadow of what it used to be. You can't go through walls and it has a 15 second cool down. I'll leave it at that. I feel like Diablo died with Diablo 2. We have something like when Jerry Bruckheimer destroyed the Batman franchise. It was still a Batman movie, but it was also a colorful, hot mess that missed the point of what was great about Tim Burton's darker, clever Batman movie. Diablo's original team must be completely absent, because this incarnation lacks inspiration. It's a hybrid of tired WoW conventions. It abandoned the heart of what was unique, interesting, and exceptionally replayable about Diablo. Expand

Not you telling me what I need Blizzard, I want to play Diablo not bloody World of Warcraft! Also, what's the point of having unidentified items if all you have to do is right-click to identify? Lets waste 5/10 seconds in a pointless game mechanic. You took out the sense of danger that Diablo 2 had, when I came through to nightmare with my paladin in D2:LOD I had to struggle and fight hard through that difficulty as it was really quite a step up from normal, and so it should of been. Nightmare in D3 is pathetic (it really is), I don't even need potions for most fights unless I get mobbed by 15+ creatures - where's the difficulty if all I have to pop potions on is bosses? No potion belt is bad, the health globes are stupid. Why should something that dies drop health? Oh, and no runes and runewords - what the **** were you thinking!? The graphics are sub-par and the game is way too short, I beat normal in about 2 good nights of playing and haven't even been wanting to play much on through nightmare as it's boring. I wont be buying an expansion/DLC if it's released as this game has nothing on D2:LOD and we have waited 10/11 years for a half-baked game that doesn't deserve any praise really at all. And the followers you can get are pointless, just cannon fodder who do **** all damage and aren't even worth the time required to get them decent gear. Character level cap is also too low. D2:LOD went to 99, D3 goes to 60.. what's the point in that? I want proper game time out of the money I invested. D3 doesn't give me any desire to play further. I have a friend who has recently beaten nightmare on his monk character, he also doesn't want to play on as he is now sick of the game, totally bored by it and its simple and mediocre features. D3 is also very boring (did I mention that?), the total simplicity of the whole game makes it a real let down. The dumbed down skills, stats and items really take away from what was once an a brilliant series. D2:LOD challenged you - D3 doesn't. Lobby system from D2 is taken out and replaced by an auction house as well as a "public game" button which only ever puts you with 1 other person. I actually like the idea of auction house. However, implementing a real money version of it just doesn't cut it. Aside from the social perspective, the gameplay itself is just bland. There is no character customization at all - no attribute points, no skill tress, etc. The only differences between characters are only the selection of the skills and the gear itself. I understand that some may argue there is customization in terms of picking which skills you use, but keep in mind that SELECTION differs from CUSTOMIZATION. The lack of customization prevents players from being attached to their characters, and this causes players get bored easily. The other part of "customization" in D3 is related to gear. However, the gear-farming system is just too broken. Blue (magic) equipment can even be better than Legendary (Unique) items because of the random stats that Legendary items give. What's the point of gear farming then if I could just buy items off the auction house? Oh right, I forgot that Blizard makes a % profit per auction house trade. Quests are too simple and straight forward; they're either "go through the dungeon" or "kill this monster". There is no sidequest; you have to follow the storeline almost 90% of the time. One other thing that pisses me off is that you're not really encouraged to freely warp to maps other than your primary quest location because it does not give you any incentive - drop rates are crappy and you only get a decent amount of EXP if you finish the quests. The connection required requirement is also a concern, but it doesn't really affect me because I'm more into the multiplayer aspect of the game. Graphics are nice. Sound and BGM are okay. Overall, if you're used to be an avid player of Diablo 2, do not purchase this game because it will disappoint you. This is an extremely overhyped game. COMBAT: Little has changed since diablo 2, this game is still a clickfest with very little tactical thought required to be successful. A similar experience can be had playing flash arcade games online. Don't expect DragonAge here.

RPG: No user control over looks or ability (i.e. skill point distribution). Role-players will find it difficult to form a connection with their chosen hero.

STORY: Standard dark fantasy fare. Consider the lore of Milton's "Paradise Lost" mixed with the simplicity of David Eddings' "The Belgariad" though without the charm of the latter. The few 3D animated cutscenes, however, are truly outstanding, though at a few minutes apiece they are noticeably sparse and your character will feature in none of them.

LOOT: Loot has always been the driving force behind players grinding out so many hours in diablo 1 and 2. Inventory management still constitutes a large portion of the gameplay as it did in its predecessors. The uniqueness of your character will be defined by their equipment.

GAME MECHANICS: Basically every class should use a weapon with fast attack speed and a shield with heavy armor. The item and damage mechanic makes any other combination or selection of weapon subpar. Fans of D&D-style systems will be horrified.

CHALLENGE: This is an easy game. The fact that one must play through the entire game repeatedly in order to reach more challenging difficulty levels was acceptable in 1998; in 2012 it is frustrating. If you're a seasoned gamer who starts every new game on high tier difficulty settings then it will be many hours before this game becomes challenging (even if you insist on soloing). The simple gameplay, however, does mean you can grind your way into hell or inferno modes with one hand and only partial attention if you are willing to put in the hours. COMMUNITY: Its early days yet and the US server community is still largely friendly and excitable. Ages vary considerably. Chat channels and party management systems are very dated. Spamming from gold services is already significant in chat (blocking communication or reporting is, to date, ineffective)

SUPPORT: Random "scheduled" server maintenance, almost daily (for up to 8hrs), has marred the early experience of many gamers. Adding to their ire is the requirement to connect to server in order to play singleplayer. For Oceania gamers server downtime will happen in your peak playtimes if on the US server.

That name has sent a shiver of anticipation down my spine ever since the confirmation of its existence back in 2008. I spent countless hours of my youth playing its predecessors, to which the RSI in wrists is testament. As the release date drew closer I researched obsessively on the minimum required performance to ensure a constant 60 FPS. After the system was built I paid the premium to get Diablo III via Blizz's digital delivery, ready to install and play the moment the servers went live.

The first login took 45 minutes of constant login spamming. I was in! I spent a while just wandering around in a rush of excitement, taking in everything. I barely noticed the lag teleporting me halfway back across the screen, until I was disconnected from the server. I wasn't able to log in again until the following day. At this point I was left with seriously mixed feelings, the disaster of the launch and the sweet euphoria of finally playing this game fighting for dominance.

Since then it's been a bit over a week. I'm still playing, but I'm not happy with the experience.

In D1 and D2, the gameplay was frenzied and frenetic. It always felt as thought your character was a moment from death, and you had to be ready with a potion or scroll of town portal to get out of danger. That feeling of split second timing is gone. Potions are only used sparingly, have been mostly replaced by health globes which you run over to use. Potions also have a cool down period, which makes combat more difficult than it should be when facing powerful creatures. Town portal is now a spell on your toolbar, and once triggered it charges up before activating. Moving your character will interrupt the casting. All this results in feeling like a spectator rather than a player, that whether you live or die is based on whether you can make your character run around in circles long enough to get away from mobs that are too big.

Even the characters movement has been slowed down, and the run button is gone. Couple this with the large size of the maps and it can take an age to complete some parts of the game. This is exacerbated by the fact that maps will reset after you disconnect, and disconnects happen automatically after 30 minutes of inactivity. This is a poor decision on Blizzard's part. I would like to be able to interrupt gameplay if I need to without worrying about getting back to the computer to move the mouse.

The loot drops in the first two acts are poor. There is little incentive to take loot back as most items yield less than 10 gold. Most magic items are less than 100, and rares less than 300. It's baffling that Blizzard would choose to change the loot mechanics as they are arguably the Diablo series' defining aspect. Instead we have a blacksmith, complete with an upgrade mechanic lifted straight from Blizzard's MMO titles, who can craft higher stat items. Of course you have to pay gold to upgrade him and access the higher stat items. These items require salvaged materials that you get from destroying magic, rare, and unique items. Most of these have a number of random magic properties. To date I have only used one, yes, one of these items as all the others have had useless random stats assigned. The amount of gold and magic items required to craft one of these items is ridiculous. At least D2 was honest about and called it gambling.

Then there's the length. Despite the thing feeling like you're wading through molasses most of the time, it's over all too quickly. But wait, it's OK because Blizz have helpfully included multiple difficulty levels. Each one is unlocked sequentially once the last mode is beaten so you can play it all over again for better loot and higher levels. Just in case that wasn't enough of an incentive, there are also further plot developments for some NPC's that only unfold in higher difficulties.

This is not an acceptable alternative to making a decent length game, Blizzard. You've have twelve years. TWELVE! You really need to do better. Unless of course you're holding back in anticipation of the - wait for it - EXPANSION PACK! I will play this through to the end. I've spent too much money, and waited too long not to. That said, I feel this has been a missed opportunity for Blizzard. It's more like "World Of DiabloCraft" than a true "Diablo III". Almost all the (technical) issues with this game could be fixed by just giving players the choice to have offline only characters. That way people who want to play a single player game (y'know, the majority who bought the damn thing) could play without lag destroying the experience.

2/10 (And thats only in recognition of the talented artists and designers who put their blood sweat and tears into this. The money men behind the online requirement/DRM and real money auction house... well, most of the internet has an opinion on you guys. Just google it).

I can't understand how can they make such huge changes to the game, at least they should have put a survey for the beta. You can't distribute attribute points and skills. Really? This made Diablo 2 unique and enjoyable for a long time. For example, there is no sense having now 2 barbarians. With this "strategy" people will play far less this game. What was the logic, thinking that young "modern age" kids playing mmorpgs will join this game? You also know that everyone has all the skills that you have (if they are your level), and it's just a matter choice, depending on what has been put in the short-key bar. There are "runes" for the skills, which are a kind of upgrade, they are also unlocked by leveling-up. The game has been made so easy. Even no identification scrolls/town portals. You deleted so many things, which were the uniqueness of this great series! The voices are not even barely similar to Diablo 2, and are so so bad. All in all, if you are not a fan of Diablo 2, and if you enjoy games from this type - Sacred, Titan Quest, you may like Diablo 3. But if you are a fan of the old ones, I strongly suggest to look at the "innovations" first, whether you will like them. Expand

However, once the first play-through is done and you try to move further up the difficulty levels, it simply turns into a repetitious mess focused on one thing: forcing you to play through the same crap over...and over...and over. The items that you legitimately find are terrible, usually 10-15 levels below your character and as such, completely useless. It's not even worth thinking about trying to rely on your own gear drops for your gear because the drop rates are horrendous. Far superior items can be found on the auction house for the amount of gold dropped by running through a small dungeon for the 1000th time. The story is just barely present during the progression through the game, but after the first play-through you don't even care, just click-click-click through everything as fast as possible to get through the painfully repetitive gameplay. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Diablo 3 is an average game and overall it is very disappointing. It is very short, the main game can be finished in 20 hours. Relying on repeat runs of the same game with difficulty settings changed feels like a cop out. Graphically the game is not impressive character sprites are small and difficult to see. The game play was very repetitive your abilities may vary but every character type is a killing machine and you essentially mow through similar looking monsters using the same abilities over and over from the beginning to the end with a few bosses in between to interrupt the monotony or boredom? that sets in. The story is average and it even rips off Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. At the end you feel unfulfilled and maybe even ripped off, did I just play an expansion or something? The cut scenes are gorgeous as expected and may be the best part of an average game for Blizzard. If it were any other company this game might deserve a 7 or 8 but by Blizzard standards this game is a 2 or worse. After 12 years is this the best they could do? Overall very disappointing. Expand

    2. Where are the really great items I've collected? Oh their gone because I've been hacked. Great job Blizzard. Wouldn't be an issue if you took care of issue 1.

    3. Awful story, even worse than the light story from the previous games. At least they were compelling.

    4. Good for people who simply enjoy getting stuff and killing things. Perfect game for greedy, idiotic American manboys. This game will be a huge hit, make tons of money and ruin gaming for about 10 years. Those of us who enjoy story, action, suspense and tension will have to suck it up for a while. There is no excuse in the poor battle encounter design that disregard player play style and skill combination, there is no excuse in the poor diversity of the loot bonus, and there is no excuse in the linear player progression path. Diablo III is a well package game with great product value, however this is such flawed game in the design and system department that Blizzard should be ashamed of.

The installer didn't work - I had to play around for 8 hours installing the game - I still can't figure out how a company can sink this much time into a game and have the installer fail to work for a good portion of players.

The auction house has a bad habit of dropping transactions, I can't tell if it is lag or what, but I know that I have 50k in gold lost in space somewhere. I also have another 30k that I can see.. but can't access. Always online single player - has been beaten to death... but it does suck to be disconnected and have to search for a boss again since each map is randomly generated.

There is also very little customization of your character since there are no stats. The skills you can use are basically picked for you, you just decide when you want to use them on your action bar. One of the design flaws came with the addition of the Auction house, blizzard reduced the drop rates of unique items... which is ok, except that finding unique items every now and then is what made Diablo 2 fun. Not finding any unique or sets after running through normal, nightmare, and hell doesn't reward your efforts. Instead you are forced to buy what other people have found - which still gives you the same result, but you don't get the slot machine like satisfaction offered in previous diablo installments.

The next design flaw, from what I have read, is that unique items are often far surpassed by lesser quality items which can be found more commonly. This makes the very rare 'winnings' seem like less of a jackpot - since that amazing unique item is actually worse than the item you have already. This is based on what I have read, not experience... I still have not found a unique item or really looked into buying one on the AH since most are priced out of my reach. The gameplay is fun though, which is nice... but If you have a nice piece of software that can't be installed, crashes constantly and is riddled with problems, it is bad software. If this game were a car, I believe most people - despite how cool of a car it is - would return it under the Lemon Law. It just doesn't work.

Any elite mobs come around and expect to die over and over again. Story is nothing to be excited about. Kept my interest in act 1 with the various twists and turns, but after that is standard Diablo fare. True, many different possible builds based on what skills you choose for your character, but item-wise, its all basically one build: stack main-stat and vitality. And pick the biggest stick as your weapon regardless of stat. Real Money Auction House still closed. In-game-gold Auction House still riddled with issues. Game seems to be built around the auction houses since its now very gear dependent. At the higher difficulty levels your choice of skills or kiting skills only help to improve the efficacy of your gear, instead of the other way around. In other words, with just average gear the game is impossible at higher difficulty levels. ALWAYS ON INTERNET required, even for single player. Which means if you're not living near their servers, expect lag. In Australia, lag spikes happen often enough to make hardcore mode impossible. Graphics is acceptable, nothing to get excited about. Itemization is terrible, the worst i have seen in an RPG to date, the game revolves around the RMAH (real money auction house) which is just terrible , as 98% of the randomly generated items are intentionally sabotaged in order to boost RMAH usage and corporate profits.

Pick it up if you like the story , but the replay value is small.... sadly I spent 100$ on the collectors edition , the contents of which were also rather skimpy .... the diablo skull that came with the box was so small and puny it .... its almost small enough to use as a key chain.

Level cap is too low, and there isn't much customization as far as skills go, your damage is determined by your DPS (damage per second) so if you are a wizard and you find a sword with + main stats + high dps then you would use that over a wand, you would think the lightning/cold/fire skills wouldn't be determined by the damage of a sword... but it is. All attacks do the same damage unless you have a rune activated that does more dmg, usually runes are useless, There is usually 1 good rune for each skill and the rest are just not worth it, okay maybe there could be 2 depending on the skill. This game was released WAY too early, I wish vivendi(pre activision merger) let blizzard north do what they do and develop Diablo 3 the way it was MEANT to be developed by the people who CREATED the game itself. I don't even feel like leveling my other characters since I cannot simply make them my own, I would have to play for hours and hours just to level, loot is pointless and they silently fix quests so they don't give very high amounts of experience so you cannot level that fast. I don't want to play this game again, you can rush but leveling to get to the difficulties is just zombie mind numbing since you won't really care about loot once you've already played through hell on another character, Diablo III would be a good game if it didn't have the Diablo name on it, if you want to spend $60 for a game named Diablo, created by developers of World Of Warcraft that has a poor loot system, no customization on skills, and is eventually dependent on an Auction House and doesn't really feel like a Diablo game then go for it. If you have never played Diablo prior to playing this and weren't a HUGE fan of the game and played it for countless hours then I would recommend this game, you'll probably enjoy it a lot more. Another observation....I found me a really nice "Wizard" hat.... and by wizard I mean "only a wizard can equip" .. with dexterity and strenght for stats... again.. .what? The random factor on item's stats is absurd!
Last but not least.. loot rewards.. you can get a yellow out of a damned barrel! or random champion packs, but when you kill a boss.. when you kill DIABLO..THE LAST BOSS IN THE GAME.. he drops 1 or 2 blues..it feels so .. unrewarding.

I can't spend my days and my nights relentlessly refreshing the login screen. Since day one, I've only managed to log in once. ONE SINGLE TIME. There I was, happy that the game of my teenage years came reincarnated as a casual-friendly title with some modern design chops and that I'd dive into nostalgia for a couple of weeks and later use it to relax after a hard day or pass an hour or two before I have to leave for work. I am now actively seeking a refund. I have no reason to keep this box - as pretty as it is - as some sort of twisted, expensive decoration.

At the moment, the game is unplayable. If you're thinking about buying, wait a month or two. It'll be cheaper, more balanced, more stable and perhaps get some new content. I won't be here anymore, because I'm one to hold a grudge, but I wish to spare everyone the same frustration.

For a game that has for years been based around killing bosses and collecting loot it seems incredibly short sighted to make killing bosses tedious and to make the loot they drop worthless. The story is terrible, the characters 1 dimensional and cheesy, the game more linear than any I have ever played and the item system completely backwards. The result of these factors leaves you feeling quite depressed and has you reaching for the disk and a hammer. The difficulty curve is atrocious going from unfathomably easy to completely impossible not through interesting mechanics but through stat boosts so ridiculous you are forced to grind for an indefinite period of time OR head to the auction house where conveniently Blizzard will take a cut of the fee spent. Regardless of how good you are at the game these are your only 2 options, this does not seem as much of a challenge as it is a chore.

I feel I have been lied to about the randomisation of the game and "the events" that keep the game fresh. The randomisation is as minor as it could possibly be with all outdoor areas (which make up most of the game) the exact same every play through. The most advanced event I have come across so far has been "kill this person right in front of you" with the least advanced being carrying a potion 2 meters down a path to another character. These events are not fun they are insulting.

In the games current state I cannot recommend it to anyone. I am currently hoping that the game will be patched and fixed in the coming weeks otherwise the long wait for diablo 4 has begun. Blizzard you have let me down. (Oh yeah I forgot to mention it is impossible to log in even if you did want to play this diabolical)

Diablo 3 is simply not fun. Now the fun aspect of games can differ for every gamer, but some core elements are just not there. Online connection requirement for single player... Story? Lamest so far. Granted Blizzard's strongest point have never been exceptional and unique story telling( in terms of originality and creativity ) but I was content thus far. Not anymore. Visuals? Not half bad, though one expected the game to run smoothly on low-end computers, given the toonish visuals and isometric engine, this is not the case. Audio? Disappointment. Compared to Diablo 2( and Diablo 1), music is BAD, it fails to stir emotions, simple as that. As is voice acting. I remember marveling at Kashya's voice, Malah's feeble sounds, good old Ormus and many others. In Diablo 3, I only took a liking to the voice acting of Covetus Shen and Kormac( he's overdone a little though ). Game immersion fails so bad, it isn't even funny. People expected this, as it had been known that the grim and gothic world of Diablo1 & 2 were gone, and it's still a shock to many( including myself ). Not just talking about the graphics, everything is off. Arrogant heroes replaced desperate but determined heroes( "Belial shall tremble before me!" "I will make the prime evils pay!" etc etc), Azmodan is a miserable clown( I never got the feeling he was some mean lesser evil ), excessively retarded animations to make bosses look cool( butcher's roar? I mean, who's he trying to impress? ), and many other elements. The feeling is not there. Characters/Customization? Customization level: NONE. there's no skill distribution, no stat points. Instead you unlock abilities and their effects as you progress, so everyone can use everything. Take out equipment from characters, they're all identical. The feeling of distinctness is gone. And from the given skills, there are only a couple worth using, so you'll end up using the few viable skills( particularly in inferno difficulty ) Skill animations are good but overdone, even monk's hand to hand attacks have that ridiculous animation that makes it look like it belongs to the latest street fighter game. Random content? Almost none, it's a shameless lie that dungeons are randomly generated. %80 of the content is the same. PvP? None as of yet. Gameplay/mechanics? Dumbed down is the perfect definition. There is no skill damage, but all skills use your weapon damage instead. 4 difficulty levels, normal is simply a joke, inferno is too tough to beat( which you'll never manage if you don't use soon to be mentioned RMAH ). Maximum number of party members is 4. No point playing multiplayer( except if you want to play it with friends ). Social grouping is non existent. You can't choose games to join, bnet chooses for you. Unique items are crap, no runewords, flawed crafting, dumb attributes, even dumber repair costs( will suck you dry ), insane elite/champion packs and many many more.

There are many other things that hurt the game but the MOST damaging one is the RMAH( Real Money Auction House ) where you'll end up selling/buying items via real currency and blizzard cuts its "share" This in my opinion is the greatest insult to the long time fans. Inferno difficulty is designed with RMAH on mind, so if you're not buying from there you'll be going nowhere past hell difficulty. The items you farm in hell are simply useless if you want to survive in inferno. This is called pay to win. If you fill the coffers of Blizzard more, you get to finish inferno, if not, sorry, you can fool around in hell. I can't imagine a greater offense to dedicated players( who don't want to spend additional money, I mean why should they? They already paid 60 bucks ), this is where the influence of Activision poisoned Blizzard. Kotick did it again. It's not about fun anymore, it's about $$$. Diablo 3 is a turning point for gamers, I feel sad for us all. If I get to see the demise of Activision, I'll throw a party to celebrate, and maybe drink one or two in remembrance for Blizzard North, the company that I actually miss.
Do not buy this game, it's simply not worth it.

    Online
I cannot play when server is down
I bought a game and expect to play when I am free, not when your server is running

    Equipment
Only DPS matters, Str or Int or Dex has some value and if anything else has value? No, nothing else has value. Add 1% stun? what is that? 1%? So full set at best has 8% stun?
And for this 8% I have to give up DPS which is the only thing we can rely on killing monster than being killed?

    Skill -2
Monster has better killing skill than player, they can lock you at a spot and use Damage over time skill to kill you and these damage over time skill kills so fast you are puzzled the first few times why you get killed.
Not to mention other elite monster skill combo that makes you scream like Jailed + Desecrator + Arcane
Oh by the way, there are impossible to kill skill combinations

    Game testing and changes
People look at all the skills find some has potential and try very best to boost it.
The resulting skill advantage is so big that for "Balance" issue, Blizzard weaken or restrict that game skill
I thought game test should have found this kind of things, not until it went life.
And for these people who spend time and effort in the potential I can imagine they got pissed.

I can keep going but these are the biggest I feel

If this game does not call Diablo 3 then might get 4 or 5 points.
But if it is being named Diablo 3 and nothing like diablo, sorry, 2 is what you get.

I always loot just poor items, and usually only items of another class of heroes.
I finished the game in 3 difficulties, and never found a legendary item, I always look the entire maps, but never find a good thing to use, or to sell.
The lag make me die much times, so I have to spend gold to repair items.
Another bad thing is the craft or armor, weapons or gem, why I have to spend golds when I create an item?
why when I create an item my craft skill don't grow?
I think is soo stupid I have to pay for items, and for skill up in the craft.
Bosses or strong monsters don't drop good items why?
I defeated Diablo in nightmare mode, and he dropped jsut 2 blu items!!!!!!!!! this is so stupid.
I think blizzard have to give us some more luck in loot and some gold for the lag, or maybe a treasuer with some loots, cause every 2 days all servers are down, cause everyday I lag much.

This game is a horrible excuse for a sequel. Diablo 1, Diablo 2, and Diablo 2:LOD had a very gritty, medieval/dark/horror art style. The game's art direction is a total "slap in the face" for any old school fan of the franchise. Many people bought computers, and equipment for Diablo 3's release. When servers went live, it was quite obvious that the multi-billion dollar company Blizzard was not prepared. Servers were overwhelmed, and I personally was not able to play the game due to login errors two hours after launch. The story is a absolute disgrace. Villains have a very campy feel to them, telling you they're exact plans and taunting you in such a way that it insults your intelligence. You can only play the game online, even though it was tested and designed to be a single player game. The real money auction house and the gold auction house is hit/miss with me. It works because there are no more community lobbies like there were in D2 to set up trades. This however, ruins the atmospheric fun in joining your own games from channel lists. Let it be known that the gold currency auction house was comptely inflated with people farming explotable "gold chests" that blizzard took over a week and a half to hotfix. These "gold chest" farming runs, allowed players to continuously farm the best loot in the game, with little if any effort. The result was a inflatuated market early on, with people selling items for the upmost of 20,000,000,000 gold peices. The game automatically throws you into a random public game, if you so choose to play multiplier. It is designed to allow you to pick a starting point in a quest, and join a public game from there. The feel of the "community" is like a ghost town because of it. You can only play with up to four players, which is half of what you could do with Diablo 2, for it had eight player coop.

The itemization is a joke. Once epic and sought after legendary's like Windforce and Grandfather are replaced by blue and rare items. Legendary items are no longer a viable option for they are always outclassed by a blue or yellow. There are no skill trees, stat systems, or anything that old school Diablo 1 and 2 players may remember.

After hitting 60, and beating the Hell difficulty mode, you are thrown into a mode called Inferno. Inferno makes it almost downright impossible to conquer without purchasing items that other players who found exploits early and profited from it on the gold currency auction house. In inferno, coming from Hell, you can expect to get two shotted by almost anything. Act 1 inferno is a rough thing to beat, but if you can manage to survive and farm it, the drops you will receive have no benefit what so ever towards the impossible brick wall that is Act 2 inferno. The progression of loot and drops vs the severity of challenge and impossibilities that lay ahead are overwhelming for most classes, where as wizard's and demon hunters can face-roll up to act 4 with little, if any, good gear.

The in game crafting system, blacksmiths, is an absolute joke. It skips item levels, and doesn't really provide you with anything worth investing in. From personal experience, I have sank almost all my gold into my crafting systems and I have yet to make anything that is even viable for Inferno.

All and all, Blizzard did not deliver a addition to one of they're most loved franchises, but a mere insult to old fans intelligence levels. If you haven't bought the game yet, and are a fan of D1, D2, or D2:LOD, I highly suggest you stay away from this game. Blizzard tried to reinvent the genre, and the franchise by not listening to the fans and making horrible design decisions, most likely biased off of the successive history of World of Warcraft.

2/10. Never buying another Blizzard product.

Let's put aside the technical issues that have been plaguing users - days of downtime, auction house barely functioning or frustrating to use due to bugs (disappearing listings, placeholders, improper sort-by results) and just dive into the game. You can play this game for dozens and dozens of hours and make no progress in the improvement of your character - I can count on one hand the number of gear drops I've earned for myself in 60 levels of play. Everything else: purchased on the AH. Nothing fun about that, but if you don't do it, good luck progressing. So now I'm in Inferno and I have the choice of either dying to 95% of the elite packs I meet while trying to earn better gear - or mindlessly grinding gold on lower levels like a human meat battery in the Diablo matrix to buy drops someone else was disappointed by when they couldn't use the item on their main. I'd love to play this game and gear my lil' guy through finding gear mostly on my own. As the game stands now, upgrades will almost never come from your own gameplay, unless you count the thrilling gameplay of grinding gold until the number on the screen is finally high enough to thrillingly bid on AH gear and then thrillingly mail it to yourself. This game is pretty bad, and I've played some real bad games in my 25+ years of PC gaming. The saddest part is that there's a kernel of great game here that seems to have been brutally beaten into submission by poor technical execution, saddled with online servers, and anchored to an auction house system that has become (instead of a support system) the meta game you are playing. It's Auction House III, featuring a special guest appearance by Diablo. Sad let down for a once-great title. Expand
