    Can't trust anything Blizzard releases nowadays, after the Warcraft 3 fiasco they manage to screw up the Diablo 2 remaster as well. How can they be so incompetent nowadays? Maybe because all the competent people left after they merged with Activision. I gave it a 4 because this one is somewhat fixable, unlike the Warcraft 3 Reforge which was a complete disaster through and through.

    I am not an original Diablo 2 Player but discovered Diablo 3 some years ago and understood quiet quickly why everybody loves thise game series. So i wanted to get Diablo 2 Resurrected too and was looking forward to play it on the weekend. The Beta seemed to work just fine for everybody, so what could go wrong.

    But like for thousands of other players,    I am not an original Diablo 2 Player but discovered Diablo 3 some years ago and understood quiet quickly why everybody loves thise game series. So i wanted to get Diablo 2 Resurrected too and was looking forward to play it on the weekend. The Beta seemed to work just fine for everybody, so what could go wrong.
    Looks like a decent plan, doesnt it?
    But like for thousands of other players, my game doesnt even launch. You press "Play", the button turns to "is playing" just to transform back into its initial state. No window, no menu, no nothing.
    There's a rumor that the problem might be some AVX implementation that older processors cant run but that was never mentionned in the requirements (but i am a total noob regarding IT and PC, so i dont quiet understand whats the not-instantly-repairable problem here).
    And while this game suffers not only from problems mentionned above but also from deleted or rollbacked characters, characters stucked in servers without being playable for hours and the usual launch-bugs & -glitches.... well, Blizzard thought it would be a very nice idea to take our money and then taking the weekend off, without any Day&Nightshift during first launchdays.
    You might be willing to say that also devs need some time off after hard work. Yes, you are right.
    Also devs should take days off after hard work....if there was hard work. A game and this state has nothing, really nothing to do with hard and honest work. And apparently, they did not even fix the problems mentionned by the players during the beta. Changing the look of the characters to the worse, yes, that seemed to be their priority, though.
    You know, i dont gonna say anything regarding CEOs and investors because i would not say anything nice about them. And yes, maybe moneygreedy Blizzard thought that this remastered Cashgrab didnt need enough devs to be great and maybe the team was just to small to make it work eventually. But if this is what you as developers are bringing to the table after months and years of (re-)work....then you deserve the crunch.
    Blizzard was once the holy grail of the game-industry. But that seems to be over, unfortunately. What's left is just a empty shell of a great gaming-company sleeping on its wornout franchises, not going with the time regarding crossplay (which should be / is standard now for most multiplayer games but isnt implemented in Diablo 2: Resurrected), destroyed by its bad reputation, ruled by moneygreedy losers that need the money because they dont have anything else to brag about, filled with devs without any love and passion, not able to get a simply remastered version of an 20 years old game running for most people...
    What's left to say? Well, i cant say anything more about the game because on the 4th day after launch, i cant still get it running. And at Blizzard, nobody seems to care but that's no wonder, they all took their weekend off...
    If you are in the same situation as me but really want to know what the game is like,...then go watch all those unemployed clowns named "streamers" getting paid for playing videogames and apparently getting their own set of servers, because they all seem to have no problems running and playing this game while others, MANY others, cant even launch this piece of crap.    … Expand

    I can't judge the comments made about servers and multiplayer though, as I have only played the game in single player mode (like back in the day) and not encountered any issues, and I can't and won't deduct points for issues I am not encountering.
    I also will not deduct any points for political and social issues plaguing Blizzard/Activision, this game was made by a big team, overwhelmingly filled with people who are not to blame for these issues, and boycotting/reviewbombing a game they likely spent a good chunk of the past years on is just unfair if the game is what it is supposed to.    … Expand

    Great remaster. It's just like when we were kids, only with new graphics. Definitely going to hang on to this game for a couple of weeks until I pump all the characters.

    This is one of the best games I've ever played. It is like the original, but just with awsome graphics. It looks exactly like I imagined it in 2002. The launch was ok imho. The complains are ridiculous imho: I was not able to play the game online for 1 day. Then it was possible and worked well

    D2 Resurrected is just D2 HD edition with new graphics. And also, have you tried playing D2 last year? No one played. The remastered edition has breathed fresh air into the game which will keep it alive for a few years longer and that is great because D2 is a great game.

    I don't know what ppl were expecting... D4? Go play that when it comes out. This is only D2 as advertised and it plays great, works great, graphics look awesome and also you can switch between legacy and modern graphic with the touch of a button. I guess ppl are butthurt cuz they have to pay a little bit (40 pounds is a little steep but for a legendary game like D2 it's worth it as it's one of the best games that ever came out)

    Go buy it and play it or at least wait untl a price drop. But i don't advice that. Save money and buy it ASAP.    … Expand

Это мошенничество продавать людям не рабочую игру под видом рабочей, третий день не могу зайти. Сколько нервов потрачено, когда я пытался её запустить. Почему мне не возвращают деньги? Gameplay = 10, Music = 10, Sound effects = 10, Replay ability = 10.     I was not able to play first day, but this is The Diablo Game which we all know and love. Gameplay = 10, Music = 10, Sound effects = 10, Replay ability = 10.

    Graphics = 11/10, this is how i (or may be we all) remember the game from our childhood.

    So if you loved D2/D2Lod you should love to play D2R.

    Also game for now is clean off bots (at least from public one) there are actual people (many of them) play the game. 11/10.

    I have to say this game is clearly has the best graphics for 2021 it is clearly highly impressive. The game is still the same with not a lot of bugs that I don't know... I never ran into them yet on hardcore mode offline mode. Now for the Offline mode I believe that the score is at least a 10/10 must buy. There hasn't been any crashes none at all. Thanks to my new pc up to 2,000$ thatI have to say this game is clearly has the best graphics for 2021 it is clearly highly impressive. For old computers I highly not recommend this because you must lower your setting and don't burn out your computer parts.

    For for online it's clearly a 4/10 due to disconnecting... (pack with players and blizzard hasn't stress test the online version of the game. That is the only thing that needs fixing and hope they do this soon.

    I'm more of a single player game so I say that to be fair I think this is an 8/10 so far they still need to improve the remaster online multiplayer a little more. As a veteran I always play solo anyway due to bad connections for internet. I just hope it's not to late to have single player for diablo 4 when it releases because I wouldn't be playing it because of it's online mechanics. Shame and sad though.    … Expand

    The game is good. There is no ground breaking problems. This new Blizz deserve a lot of negativity but in this case and with this game no. It is the same game as it was in 2001. It's not a remake!!!!! It is the same game but with a few plus ( stash size and erase the ladder only runes etc..) .

    Game doesn't launch. Very long loading time and multiple of my characters have been deleted. I have had 3 characters so far being rolled back by more than 5 hours which have ruined the launch for me. Lot of lies from blizzard too where they stated they will fix the characters loading in before the loading screen. Ruining hardcore experience for the players.

    The QoL features add an extra point (not having to keep Alt pushed to see the lot, minimap on corners, autopick gold, bigger and shared stash...)

    If you're fan of the original you will love Res.

    True, no mods and no TCP/IP. But let be honest, D2R aims to live online. Mods would just split playerbase, and while mods itself are ok, most AAA games are mod-less and are not review-bombed because that. Thats silly.

    Also not having tcp/ip seems just normal. More than 20 years has passed, while not a bsd thing itself, seems pointless to use it instead of B.net

    As said, D2R delivers. Keeps the D2 essence while updating it to modern times. A great job.

    Don't let the "BuT iTs Bli$$Ard...!!!" Hate fool you into thinking the game isn't great.    … Expand

    К вопросу о том, что играм нельзя ставить 0 из 10 если не играли. Но что ставить, если игра не запускается. Мы бы и рады поставить больше, но разработчики не хотят чтобы мы играли, к тому же сейчас выходные, исправлять ошибки никто не будет, мы же отдыхаем. У многих сейчас игра просто не запускается, у кого то с релиза, у кого то после первого патча, выдает что "в программе обнаруженК вопросу о том, что играм нельзя ставить 0 из 10 если не играли. Но что ставить, если игра не запускается. Мы бы и рады поставить больше, но разработчики не хотят чтобы мы играли, к тому же сейчас выходные, исправлять ошибки никто не будет, мы же отдыхаем. У многих сейчас игра просто не запускается, у кого то с релиза, у кого то после первого патча, выдает что "в программе обнаружен сбой". Не помогает абсолютно ничего. Официальной информации о работе над ошибками до сих пор нет. Если разработчики надеялись на то, что мы запустим их игру через год когда они хотя бы разрешат в нее зайти и поставлю есть 10 из 10, то нет, такого не будет… Expand

А ставить игре 0 из за проблем с соединением на СТАРТЕ серверов - это полнейший идиотизм. У меня в первый день так же были проблемы коннектом, со второго дня все путем.     Love the new visuals and the sound improvements. I've played both single player and multiplayer without issues and it's been super fun and satisfying. I like the automatic gold pickup and the upgraded stash as additional features and feel they do not detract from the game at all. The updated cinematics were lacking in Warcraft 3 reforged but not so here - they are great! Overall I amLove the new visuals and the sound improvements. I like the automatic gold pickup and the upgraded stash as additional features and feel they do not detract from the game at all. The updated cinematics were lacking in Warcraft 3 reforged but not so here - they are great!     A Re-skin of the original, nothing else, nothing was fixed, Combat is still sluggish and slow, not sure what they actually did other then the graphics. its not a remaster, its a Re-skin. Could of fixed a lot of things but didn't. A quick cash grab is all it is.

    For a remaster, I was expecting 21:9 (ultrawide support), upscaling the graphics but leaving out ultrawide monitors and asking 40€.

    I'll wait for it to be on sale before trying this again.

    The negative reviews come from people angry with Blizzard Activision. You cannot give a bad review of DIablo 2. This game is better than ever as it now comes with new graphics.

I had about a 2-3 hour window after release where I had RL obligations so when I was able to sit down and enjoy it, I was immediately immersed. The online play has had a couple rubber banding issues, but nothing that has negatively affected me. And yes there is an offline mode too. And no your offline character cannot play online. Which is good, to curbs the 20 some odd years of hacks, glitches, and malpractice the previous titled had to endure.

    Graphics are phenomenal to what they're worth. It's still just Diablo 2 but they made it pleasing to the 21st century at least. Disregard all accusations of censorship by others. Your imagination fueled what the game looked like before. You didn't know if it was a nip slip or a high cut dress in the original game anyways. The pixels made it look a little more out in the open because all all there was to separate a cleavage or a thigh. A giant line of pixels in between. Your immersion isn't ruined. You're still playing the same game. And a busty character never actually was the reason why you played the game to begin with. Gore is still there. Dark, gritty theme is still apparent. And the new character look amazing. Sorry your characters don't look like models anymore. You're playing DIablo 2 though. The characters look like they belong on a roster of veterans and badasses that are setting out on an adventure that will reshape the world. You're just finding things to complain about. Game looks amazing.

    Story and gameplay: Still Diablo 2. And what was in the OG is in D2R. And that's why the marks are as high as they are. Because the marks for the OG in my mind are roughly the same.

    Bugs: Haven't encountered any outside of an occasional rubber band. And judging by the streaming going on and multiple people well into their 80's and 90's within the first few days, Ubers groups, etc. It looks like the bugs "everyone" is experiencing is superficial. You're going to run into them regardless in any game, but it looks like the bugs in this game aren't affecting anyone too drastically. Again though, just something people are finding a reason to complain about something is all. And isn't affecting high level characters, so shouldn't affect the average person.

    I'm going to rank this game close to the same as the original. Because it deserves every merit to be ranked up there with it. An amazing game that's moving into the 21st century and something old and new players can relive, enjoy, or get into. It brings me the same joy as the OG did when I was younger. I just way more obligations in life than I did when I was like 12 to enjoy it as much as I did before. But I'll always make time for it.    … Expand

В день выхода,пару часов была проблема с коннектом,и пропал чар,но через полтора часа все настроили.     Fantastic game, I really love playing Diablo II (first timer). I´m lucky and don´t have any connection issues. If you like Action RPG, you must try this game. On pc, it runs great ( i have an old computer and can play on high settings), you can use a gamepad if you want.

The quality of life improvements are great, not necessary if you like the classic style but still welcome for convenience sake.     Can't even play the game. Press play button, does the loading and goes back to original play state button. This was apparently some AVX crap that was not specify in the requirement specs. Now have to wait till Monday because the patch they have implemented today didn't fix anything. Apparently this is not priority with them. Already refunded this piece of garbage.

    Its not perfect, but its about as good as a remaster could be to a game from the year 2000. Review bombing because your mad at blizzard for reasons unrelated to the actual game is ridiculous. I've played for 20 hours and not had as much as a lag spike (although I'll admit maybe i'm just lucky). Any other technical issues will be worked out by Monday, and the game will continue to get better.

    After all, it's still the exact same ancient game that everyone and their granny has played to death already. Other than the graphical filter there is NOTHING new about it. No one in their right mind would play through the story more than once. Other than the handful of fossils who are still stuck in the 90s, that is, whose opinions are as relevant as those of people who have never played the game.

    I hadn't touched the original Diablo 2 in over a decade, yet even that couldn't prevent the brain-rot that seeped in soon after I started my first toon in D2R. The urge to delete said toon & uninstall the game was becoming stronger and stronger, until I could no longer force myself to play past Tristram.

    So I deleted my toon and I uninstalled D2R. It's b-o-r-i-n-g, its gameplay systems are dreadfully antiquated and its itemization is godawful. Made even worse by the fact we can't rely on a proper mod to fix any of that, and we are at the mercy of the whims of a moronic dev team.

    I dealt with far too much of that in Diablo 3, ain't putting myself through that again. I'm Out.    … Expand

    Diablo II: Resurrected is far from perfect. The changes in character design are likely to rile up returning players, and the archaic gameplay probably won’t agree with younger generations weaned on more streamlined, sophisticated experiences. While I appreciate that this legendary title is now available in an improved format, it’s not a caveat-free recommend.

    Diablo II: Resurrection is outdated return of the legend, but it brings such a perfect atmosphere and such a wonderful audiovisual processing, that serie fans will be excited.

    Diablo II returns with refreshed graphics and unaltered gameplay (apart from some small improvements). It’s as fun as I remembered, so I quickly felt at home and gave in to nostalgia. However, it’s hard not to notice that beneath revamped visuals lies a 21 years old design. [12/2021, p.32]
