Fortunately the game is not just the campaign mode, multiplayer is the reason of buying this game, this is one aspect of the game that will last months, as in previous battlefields all four classes have, assault (now a doctor) engineer (able to repair vehicles) support (provides bullets) and recognition (known as sniper) those with some differences but nothing that makes a better class than another, we also have vehicles in multiplayer mode, light cars (jepps) the tanks, through helicopters and jets, the game comes with 9 huge maps that can be played in all game modes, team deathmach, rush and conquest, with the maximum of 64 players per map.
If you want a game where you can play as a team then BF3 is the right purchase.

graphically frostbite2 does a great job, probably the best graphics yet managed. as the gameplay is much more fluid than the bad company 2 and with a little touch of COD.

there is no game if we have no sound, and the sound is phenomenal, the feeling of hearing a rocket to bypass our ears is brutal.

To finish we have the co-op mode that adds even more weapons to the multiplayer mode, basically the game loses in singleplayer, but probably BF players will not feel surprised by the lack of campaign mode.

    Final Note : 8/10

The game is freekin great, no team voice is kinda stupid, i mean the hl2 engine games all have that built in, come on. can't destroy placed AA guns and AT guns, which kinda sucks, and the helicopters have all been consolized for ease of use, (i liked the desert combat REAL piloting required)

The only worthwhile part of the game is the multiplayer --- and even that isn't that fun. DICE abandoned their roots and took on a Call of Duty style.

I do not believe DICE wanted to make it unfoil like of FPS's did. So, If anything, they just winged it and put some retrospective interrogation in there. Which wasn't creative really and brought nothing new. The story itself is a good one though. But, it lacks originality with cliches from war movies and scenes and dialogue you could hear and see in any military film. After the singleplayer, comes MULTIPLAYER. It is hella' good, fluid controls, and quick fighting. The maps are all diverse from the narrow alleyways of the Grand Bazaar, to the open plains of Caspian Border. BUT, there are 2 downsides to the Multiplayer, 1) Aircraft Controls, the controls feel awkward (on the PC at least). They feel like there is 2 things you can do and are not very fluid. And 2) Maps (Compared to BFBC2), The maps are something that could've been done slightly better. They don't have the same destructibility, even with Frostbite 2, and they don't feel like TRUE, tactical maps. After the MP and the SP. BF3 is a very well performing game that lives up to most of its potential. Expand

The campaign plot is not so good but the Multiplayer section is definitely awesome. But I think EA can build a training scene for noobs so they know how to use those jet fighters and vehicles instead of wasting those tactical advantages like crap. Frostbite 2 - Huge leap on the graphics effects. EA finally ditched Windows XP/DirectX 9 support, I'd say this is very brave and great act.

Its singleplayer, on the other hand, is a great example of the modern rail shooter: The player is forced into a certain sequence of scripted events hand-crafted by the development studio while running from one scripted event to the next to little to no free choice in where you go, when you get there and what do you do once you're there.

On top of that, as polished the game is, it doesn't introduce anything new to the gaming world. Not a single element of its gameplay, both singleplayer and multiplayer, wasn't seen in any other video game. In fact, I suspect that if it wasn't for the hype and brandname, Battlefield 3 would have been labeled as "generic" and "bland".

In short: Multiplayer's good, singleplayer's bad, entire game is rather stale.

When you see your squad member running right at you then just continue the running animation right in your face as your avatar pushes out of the way you'll know what I mean.

On the other hand if battlefield war is what you want then the multiplayer is inexplicabaly incredible, the best capture the flag that you can get right on your computer. Nothing like Battlefield: Bad Company 2 it has a completely different flowy feel to it. There's nothing like seeing a squad run across a road you're guarding waiting for cover from your squad knowing they're real people on the other side of the computer and if they see you it's completely unpredictable what any of them might do.

I was a fan of the Bad Company single players. They weren't the best, but at least the characters had some personality. BF3 single player is not good. DICE tried to be cod (and i don't think cod has a good sp either). Far to often DICE resorts to stupid quicktime events, which involve repeatedly pressing a button to do stupid stuff. For me? MW3 is just a fail, nothing changed. but anyway BF3 is a game that deserves a great rating. i really hate how activision has all that extra cash to freakin give to reviewers to give fake reviews about this game and give great reviews about MW3....so tired of it. ignore all of the other reviews that gave it like a 4... because they're all fake or just 10 year old, spoiled, cod fanboys that dont know what a true value game is. its really pathetic that people do that. So, go out and get your copy of BF3 now as you will really enjoy it. it is truly worth your money, unlike MW3, which didnt change anything but perks and killstreak rewards over a two year time period. This game is a ton of fun and I'm enjoying it more than I ever did with COD. My and a couple of friends have been playing nightly and its a blast, there's so many epic moments. And don't listen to what critics are saying about singleplayer and bringing the score down. The fact that they even added singleplayer should be a treat enough. Battlefield is and always will be a multiplayer game.

Yes, this game has many bugs and flaws, but I give it 10/10 and excuse all the troubles. And now explain why:

How many times has the debate been "Battlefield or Call of Duty?" Well I'll tell you that the answer is Battlefield 3. If you're looking for quality, polish, you need never look further than Battlefield. I had stood on the line when it was Bad Company 2 vs Modern Warfare 2. Well I'll tell you that the answer is Battlefield 3. If you're looking for quality, polish, you need never look further than Battlefield. I had stood on the line when it was Bad Company 2 vs Modern Warfare 2. I gave a few days to each, and decided at the end of the day, Battlefield was the better game for my dollar. With the near simultaneous release of Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 3, I figured this would up the ante. And then I watched the trailers and gameplay, and it became clear then, MW3 was treading familiar territory. Instead of stepping up their game and remaining a contender, they folded. I waited for MW3 to release to confirm my suspicions before filing my own review.

Since MW3 doesn't have critic reviews for PC yet, I'm comparing the XBOX 360 reviews:

    Critics: BF3: 84 MW3: 90
    Users: BF3: 7.0 MW3: 2.6

Let's hear it for bias! Who are these critics, supposedly reviewing these games? I'll admit, 7.0 is pretty low. BF3 90% of criticisms: Singleplayer: short/easy/linear. Don't like Origin and the launch from browser format. No squad voice communication. CoDesque.

Are these valid? Single player I found enjoyable, but not groundbreaking in the least. I don't care for Origin, but don't mind it for BF3, the one game I will ever use it for. It would've been nice to have voice for squads, a missed opportunity. Game breaking? Not in the least. And no, I see no reason to compare this game to CoD in any meaningful way, no reason to take shots at it on that regard alone.

Now let's look at MW3 criticisms:

Exactly the same as MW2 and Black Ops. Same perks, streaks, weapons, gameplay, graphics as the previous iterations.

Huh, well if the users found this so horrible, what did the critics think?

"It's hard to believe Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has finally arrived let alone lived up to all the hype surrounding it. "
"Modern Warfare 3 is a shining example of refinement and improvement."

Could this be their serious take? Possibly. The positive reviews from users do mostly acknowledge that it isn't treading new ground, but that it refines what the series has always done. But personally, for value, that's what I'd expect from an expansion or DLC, not a new, full retail price game.

    Conclusion:

Battlefield 3 multiplayer is what sets it apart. The sights and sounds of war are unparalleled. The environmental destruction, while it isn't perfect (no game has achieved that yet) goes a long way to immersing you in the combat. Each map is unique from the others in look, feel, and tactics. The combat feels cinematic and intense. Vehicle combat, which I typically have not cared terribly much for in prior BF games, I thoroughly enjoy. It is not a perfect game. It seems everyone expects the next big thing to be that. In the world of military shooters, which try to mimic actual combat, it is particularly difficult to hit. But BF3 has taken an ambitious approach, providing a high quality experience. The best graphics on a shooter to date, coupled with fantastic attention to detail and realism from sound, and destructible environments that change the face of the battlefield as you go.

Battlefield 3 has upped the ante in every department, something which it's competition has failed to do. My hopes are high that CoD will deliver the next time around, but until then, Battlefield 3 reigns king.

Best graphics in the genre (perhaps not as good as Crysis 2). Good gameplay. The conquest brings back the feel of BF2. Team deathmatch is fun, though it doesn't belong to BF3. The only thing I hate is battlelog. Good for tracking stats. But using it to launch the game! No!

He ended up showing me the Paris trailer and it sold me. After that the beta came out and I enjoyed it despite the buggy state that was to be expected of a beta game. After buying it I am absolutely in love with this game and satisfied. The single player game is like most fps games. Short (5 hours or so) and almost forgettable. I'm not saying it's bad because it's not. The story was decent, the visuals were good, the combat got a little predictable after awhile but still fun. I did enjoy it but give it a few months and I won't really remember the story. The co-op was a good idea. I would really only play this with a friend but I wasn't as fortunate. If I'm a not getting paired up with a moron who stands in the wide open getting gunned down only for me to save him it's a very solid addition. All of the co-op missions are unique. Some are just out right run and gun. Some are about protecting vehicles. One of them you and your teammate are in a helicopter and have to protect a squad of infantry and in another you and your teammate are snipers moving from point to point to cover a squad. You also earn points that go towards unlocking guns for multiplayer and dog tags so their is a reward to playing it too. The multiplayer is where this game shines as one would expect for an fps. It's a faster paced fps so their will always be action around every corner. Quite a few different game types for everyone to enjoy. You progress through ranks, rank up the class you play, unlock guns through your rank and class, and also unlock around 19 different upgrades for every guns that help out in various situations. The destructible element of the game makes things interesting. Are enemies camping inside a building and mowing down your teammates? Get in a tank or switch to an engineer and blast the wall out so they are in the wide open. One thing that usually makes or breaks the multiplayer for me are the maps. Dice took a lot of time on these maps. Most of them are well done to the point that I don't have a preference as to which one I'm playing anymore. The levels have several close quarter areas which i personally enjoy and some longer range engagements that are good for snipers or vehicles. Visually that game is great. Dice pushed forward forcing the next gen of PC hardware to come out. The large maps are gorgeous. The lighting effect are the best I've seen so far in a game. The texture mesh on the uniforms of the soldier's is very realistic if you scope in on it. The smoke and fire in the game is very really. Couldn't have ask for a game that was easier on the eyes than this one. As much as I like this game I have a couple of complaints. This game on the PC version requires about 9 other programs to run it. You need origin, punkbustera, punkbusterb, a web browser open, sonar, BF3 and maybe a few others. It's a memory whore. You can't have any communication in co-op unless playing with a friend. That includes typing. You also can't talk on a multiplayer server, not even in a squad. I also am not a fan of launching it from a browser. I like the traditional way of firing a game up and going to a server list. That way I can just alt tab and come back to this game. The battlelog page was very buggy but it was mostly fixed. Missing dogtags and various stats. Also something to be aware of a lot of people are experiencing random crashes quite often even with high end hardware so beware. I personally don't have this problem. I've also seen that the customer support sucks, some of the support people end internet chat sessions or tell the customer to contact amazon.com when they clearly could easily fix the problem. I will give dice credit they are working hard on bugs and I am seeing improvements quickly. They are also listening to customer feedback on a 3rd party website and actively participating in answer question inside the community and working to implement new things or fix problems. I highly recommend this game to anyone who likes faster paced fps to anyone. They have so many different game types to cater to everyone. I myself like the more basic team deathmatch because I'm an old school counter-strike player and not that big into vehicles. I recommend this to cod players (even the bitter ones). I don't know why everyone out their thinks they have to play one or the other or pick a favorite. Bf3 is a solid game and is pushing forward the limits of gaming. I wasn't expecting much from this game as I'm not the biggest fan of EA but I am a very satisfied customer. $50 bucks well spent. Expand

Eh... good. Not perfect, but if you let yourself enjoy it instead of going off your nut about how unrealistic it is, its amazingly fun. Its a good attempt at a combination of over the top and realism, but its confused in what it wants to be. Stay true to BF BC2 style, or try to take in some people off COD. It tried, admirably. Its setpieces are amazing, if a little forgettable. But you wont.

    FROSTBITE 2:
If I hear another tard saying that they cant run it fast on a intel gpu ill shoot something. This is a true PC game, so make sure you have the power before turning it to ultra. It can properly scale it for you. Update your drivers, youll have a blast. It looks amazing, it will not dissapoint. DICE has gone that extra leap in the sound and visuals.

    MULTIPLAYER:
Brilliant. Everything that Bc2 did well its built on. Its impossible not to have fun if you get in the groove, but it can be a little annoying if you have that string of stupid revives or respawns that give you a ill feeling. Instead of tring to be COD it outdid it in its own niche. Youll find yourself in an adrenaline rush as you and your teammates systematically blow thru walls and shoot **** Its amazing, totally immersive. Not the (unfortunately) terrible arcade and stale multiplayer filled with 12 year olds in MW3. I wrote a review for that.... it was ghastly. Either way, its an amazing game with room to grow; its still near perfect now, but look at BC2; it was the best multiplayer in 2010 after DICE patched it and added a few things.

    FINAL VERDICT:
    Er, 10, obviously!
Id like to try and convince you that im not a fanboy, but the assumption of a 10 is that I am.
im not. But I feel like this game is probably the best SHOOTER ever made. The effort and workmanship is astonishing. Its reviewer score is much more relevant to its actual game status and not the user score ruined by people who are COD fanboys or expect it to be COD. Buy it. Enjoy.

I'm of the opinion that this should have been called Bad Company 3. This is not to say its not a great game, it's just not Battlefield without a commander IMHO. The irony is not lost on me that the Box art resembles BC2. Makes me think that the BF moniker was a marketing afterthought.

Had EA/DICE included a battlefield commander, the game would earn a 10/10, easily. As it stand, this is the only glaring omission in an otherwise epic game.

Fair enough, at around 4 hours, it's too short, and the characters, plot and presentation are cliche. You'll suffer several cheap deaths, and the quicktime events are jarring and annoying. But considering Battlefield 2 didn't even have a single player mode, it's a bonus that there's even a single player campaign included here at all. What the campaign lacks in innovative story, it makes up for in atmosphere. There are some truly impressive moments during the single player campaign where the game nails the atmosphere of running into a warzone, but unfortunately it just doesn't capture this feeling all the way through. Several times at the start of a level you'll be presented with some huge vista, only to be funneled into a corridor level with few options for exploration and deviation. Thankfully, the online multiplayer is the meat of this game, and in this area, the game does not disappoint. There are a half dozen coop missions that parallel the main campaign, and these are fun for a play through or two with a friend. But the online deathmatch modes are where it's at. The maps are HUGE, and there are plenty of unlocks and awards to keep a player busy for many hundreds of hours. The gunplay feels good, the vehicles are fun, and there are some great game mechanics, such as suppression fire, and the ability to use smoke as cover or flashlights to blind an enemy, and tactical environment destruction. It's a technical masterpiece too, although I do wish there was an option to turn off the 'dirty camera lens' effects. Special mention has to be made of the sound in this game, the sound effects are spot-on. The bad points of the game - It's a jewel of a game wrapped up in a turd: Battlelog, and Origin. The install process is annoying. You have to have Origin installed, and if you install Origin off the DVD, it has to update immediately and restart before you can continue. Plus it requires installing a 500MB patch, then two web browser plug-ins for Battlelog, and you have to have the latest graphics drivers. Once through the pain of installation, Battlelog is tolerable for finding servers and friends, but feels like an ugly third party add-on matchmaking service. Is it too much to ask for a server browser that is well integrated into the game? The other annoyance - there's no LAN play, and this could be a deal breaker for some. Dice have hinted this might be patched into the game later, but don't hold your breath. It would be nice to be able play the multiplayer maps offline against 'bots, and on a LAN in coop with friends, like you could in Battlefield 2. If you can put up with the hassle of Origin and the Battlelog interface though, there's plenty of fun to be had here. Just don't buy this game for the single player only, you will be disappointed. I loved the feature because it gave a chance to practice how to play right inside each maps. I think people shouldn't batter BF3 because of the story, because they are starting to develop one for the first time. Sure, Call of Duty 1 and other great FPS's had great singleplayers at the start, but Battlefield is starting late so cut them some slack, okay? The multiplayer was great, it was really fun. The vehicles are as OP and lovable as ever. The unlock system is the same from Battlefield Bad Company 2. The attraction, though, is the humongous 64 player servers, which provide a vast area to cooperate and assault together. The game did a good job of making some people do their roles, because without Assault being a Medic, a team can be decimated real quick. I feel this game had more elements to Bad Company 2, I'm not saying it's bad, but I wished it would have focused on more Battlefield 2 aspects, such as Commanders. Commanders were the biggest part of teamwork inside Battlefield 2. Without a good commander, the other commander can decimate the team quickly. I was surprised there was no UAV, no Artillery, no Supply Drops, zip. Instead, each soldier had to do their jobs. I was REALLY disappointed commanders were left out, along with most of the kits that were diverse. There were good people in the community, though, who worked really hard to achieve victory. I was disappointed too that you couldn't choose your unlock like Battlefield 2. I liked the rank system becoming harder to achieve, like Battlefield 2, but people had to focus on one class alone to unlock certain classes. I wish they bring Commanders back in Strike at Karkand DLC's.

    If there can be improvements:
Go to what Battlefield 2 done right a little! Add commanders, an optional unlock system, and some classes! (I really wanted Anti-Tank and Engineer to be separate).

The singleplayer is noticeably underwhelming, but BF games are multiplayer at heart. BF3 does push your pc, which is something that i like, as it's time to push forward and unlock what pcs can achieve and not take people with old hardware along with the ride, or gaming won't evolve. Possibly with patches, more destruction in maps and a few other tweaks, BF3 would be a true brutal force in the fps genre. I still like BF2 over BF3 however, but i'm happy with the vision dice were trying to put together. Time will make it a better game. Expand

I gave this game a 10 to balance out some of the "0" and "1" reviews this game is getting, which it obviously doesn't deserve. Sound is superb; you know how in some games you hear gun cackling in the background of a city or something and you know it's just a programmed in sound on loop? Well on this game, that gun cackling is actually a player in the game firing their weapon. Every sound heard is a real player interacting with the environment, eg. a jet flying over, explosions going off, etc. This is evident if you go into an empty server you hear nothing. The graphics are also superb, and although I found the destruction engine a slight bit disappointing, I still love the fact you can roll through a building with a tank surprising those sneaky snipers camping inside. I played Battlefield 2 a lot and I know Battlefield 3 has some features missing from it that I would personally like to see implemented, such as commander mode, and two of the maps do seem to be a bit too linear, with major bottlenecks, but that's only two. All the rest seem fine to me. Oh, and the mortar is a completely ridiculous weapon. Saw some guy camp out at his spawn with it the whole game and ended up with a score of 32-0. Problems aside, there is much fun to be had with this game, and I'm sure if we give it time most of the problems wil be sorted out. Expand

Awesome game. Totally one of my favorites, along with CS 1.6 and TF2. Recommend this game to anyone who has a good enough PC to handle it. Game is glitchy and randomly minimizes every 20 minutes. That's why I'm not giving it a 10.

Great game, graphics are amazing but what stands out is the sound. Best gunshot sound I ever heard in any game. Campaign is not as bad as some reviewers are saying, but I enjoyed it. Only downside is battlelog and the long load times. If there was no battlelog I would give this game a perfect score.

However, I do have some grievances which brings my rating down to an 8. While infantry combat is a step up in the Battlefield series, that doesn't say very much, considering the hit registry for every battlefield game has been rather atrocious. BF3 is the first one to do it mildly better, but even still there are many issues. Up close infantry fighting, I often feel like the game utilizes hitscan registry, and I receive a kill message from the server before I see the death animation of the player. It's a very odd scenario. The map design is the biggest fault of this game. It feels linear and messy, not much thought process went into these maps. The destruction was scaled back, which leads me to believe that they rushed this one out the door and hoped to finish it up later. B2K already features advanced destruction compared to the vanilla BF3 maps, and is being released only a couple of weeks from now. This makes me think EA forced DICE to release the game early to steal some of the MW sales. Beyond that it's a fine game, the campaign is forgettable, but the graphics make it stand out. Expand

Let's start with Single-Player: The storyline might be generic, but it is a well-executed one that does make sense, and has some pretty good voice acting at times. Some moments were executed well. One certain execution of a character was a real punch to the gut, even more so than "The Coup" from Call of Duty 4. Another scene really is a shock to players, I'm not going to spoil any more. But this game really did pull off some great set-pieces. For the gameplay, if you played CoD you know what to expect, One mission does give you full control of a tank, but sadly that is the only mission that gives you full control of a vehicle. The gunplay however, feels responsive, and thanks to the Frostbite 2 engine, Is complete eye and ear candy. Bullets whiz past you, Rockets deafen you as you hear chunks of debris fall the the ground, and guns sound realistic. The graphics are beautiful as well, and the campaign takes about 8 hours to complete. The Quick Time events I did not have a problem with, They at least give you some form of interactivity in the cutscenes, unlike CoD, where you just sit and watch. One quicktime event with a rat gives you one of the funniest death scenes ever.

Multiplayer: I have NEVER had THIS MUCH FUN in an Online FPS EVER. This Multiplayer in this game cannot be missed. The game gives you a ton of Variety, From 64 Player Conquest, to 32 player Rush, to 16 Player Deathmatch, This game has something for everyone. The maps all feel different, From Wide Open Deserts and Forests, to tight Subway Tunnels and Alleyways. Rush can give you tons of variety in a single map, for example, Operation Metro starts out in a wide open Park, Long range combat, Counter Sniping, and flanking, Then you drop into a subway, giving great close quarters battles, and really requiring you to push on with your team, to a slightly wider Ticket Area, where you have to flank while teammates lay down Suppression fire, Out into the beautifully designed City, Where pieces of buildings crumble down, Meaning Snipers are not much of a problem if you have explosives. 64 Players is intense. Jets fly above you, Helicopters crash down, Tanks roll across the desert. Rockets and bullets fly all around you. This game cannot be missed when it comes to Multiplayer. Online FPS of the year, without a doubt.

There were some levels that were good in BF3 - featuring the use of vehicles and introducing some of the vehicles that you'd be using in multiplayer, but the story itself just wasn't very good. (Score: 6) The multiplayer game itself is very fun. The graphics are amazing and the levels were adequate. It uses the same formula as BC2...which is that it requires you to use teamwork to win. However, it isn't without its problems. The spawn points on the map are retarded, in that the game spawns you in the dumbest possible spot - even though you get to pick the spawn location/area. A lot of the times I died right after spawning because the game would put me in the most open area possible. The multiplayer game itself is fine, but the platform used to connect to games is retarded. Connecting through something that looks like a regular webpage (through Origin) is tedious. Origin is glitchy and caused my game to crash multiple times both in game and in the process of joining games. The auto join doesn't work very well either. I hope they fix this over time. The graphics are amazing even in multiplayer(where the bad company series seemed to have dumbed itself down a bit). The explosions are almost realistic and the destruction of buildings is almost jaw dropping to watch, yet feel a bit limited compared to the destruction in bad company series, in that it's much harder to blow a wall out. That said, it's also a bit more realistic in that aspect. The bullet drop and having to lead targets makes the combat aspects of the game more enjoyable for players like me that understand you're not gonna shoot the guy running across your screen half the map away in the head if you try shooting where he is instead of where he'll be. My issues with the game fall under seperate aspects. The coop. is weak at best, and the campaign feels a bit cod'esk in it's linear playstyle, yet it's still less linear than cod, but more so than the bad company series, still, having a campaign at all in a series that with 1942, vietnam, bf2, and 2142 never had a campaign, it's nice to see they put themselves in that realm and did so in a way to make them a strong competetor against the fps giant that is the cod series.
With multiplayer my issues aren't with graphics, physics, or anything like that, but fall more in line with the guns and sites themselves. For instance a sniper will have to compete with bullet drop, where as a player with an assault rifle, shotgun with slugs, smg, or lmg seem to have much less issues with bullet drop. The sniper must aim above you to hit you at a certain distance, yet that guy with the saw can aim staight at you from the same distance and still hit you. it's almost rediculous how accurate weapons like saws and 240s are yet weapons like m4s and m16s are less accurate, which in my experience is just the opposite, bipod or not. Then you come into sites such as the unlocked site for each weapon which is labelled as a night vision sight, yet gives you the view of a thermal site, but yet is still blinded by flashlights and laser pointers the way and actual night vision site would be. It's a bit confusing. Perhaps one of the patches that dice releases should fix the bullet drop of non-snip weapons to be realistic, and perhaps they should give night vision sites the green hue of actual night vision and perhaps add thermal as another site that isnt' blinded by lights and lasers. Oh, and what's up with being blinded by flash lights in broad day light, while standing out in the sun??? Anyone else catch that??
Overall though, battlefield 3 is quite an enjoyable game besides the campaign and coop. As a matter of fact, I can't bring myself to keep playing the same old boring coop rounds over and over again in order to unlock all those weapons. The only one of them that really seems worth it anyway was the rex.
Apart from that, I've already pulled several hours out of the game, and still have yet to make a dent in the amount of weapons, gadgets, perks, and vehicle unlocks their are in this game.
So i'm knocking off half a point for each of the issues that I have with it. -0.5 for bullet drop on non-snip weapons(not realistic), -0.5 for sites and accuracy of weapons(not realistic), -0.5 for a short campaign(though it's suprising to me for a battlefield to even have a campaign), -0.5 for the weak at best coop.
    Overall 8.
I enjoy it quite a bit, and with the back to karkand map pack we're not only getting 4 new maps, but 3 new vehicles(probably tied specifically to these maps), and 10 new weapons. Lets just hope they bring back the sip line from the battlefield 2 expansion. That would put a whole new twist on a game like this.

Battlefield 3 is an excellent entry to a series that now aims to be big even on consoles. Battlefield has always been known for being an amazing multiplayer title in the PC, so EA is trying to expand the horizons of their saga. You can feel the evolution in gameplay between this and the previous Bad Company 2, as well as what probably is the best looking game in the market. Battlefield 3 is the best FPS to come out in a long time. Its good to see at least some company's want push the genre forward and Dice is doing just that. With a good sound system this game will give you the best surround sound you have ever heard and when a rocket flys by you will swear it actualy almost hit your head. Their are lots of vehicles to choose from including tanks jets and helicopters. The servers have some lag issues and there is a hit detection problem but the game its self is so top notch and addicting that I am fine waiting on a patch. One last thing I would like to mention is the stealth kills with the knife THEY ARE **** EPIC! and include things like driving your blade into a enemys chest grabbing their dogtags and booting their legs out from under them. If you like first person shooters you will love BF3 dont wait any longer get it! Expand

Didn't live up to the hype. The graphics are sub-par and the controls are slow. Multiplayer is plagued by 12 year old girls. The UI makes me want to die.

When I first got the game I was initially very annoyed because I could not get Origin to work but I'm not going to take away from BF3 because of Origin's failings. I got into the game and the graphics and sounds were AMAZING. As realistic or better than I could ever have imagined. The 64 player multiplayer is probably about as close to an actual battlefield that you can have without actually going into combat. You WILL need a very high end computer to reap the full benefits of playing BF3. A lot of the people having problems with BF3 is because their computer isn't very good. The only complaint I have is that they did not add in wind but they added in gravity to the trajectory of projectiles but that would probably make it even harder to run for lesser machines. Expand

The developers worked their heart and soul to develop such a beautiful and visually stunning game. Overall a great game. The single player is laughably terrible, but who buys this game for the single player? Infantry combat is the biggest improvement, with suppression effects and new attachments like flashlights truly changing the dynamics of combat and allowing for more tactical variety. Please try this game and MW3 before you buy MW3... I already took my copy of "modern" (is that synonymous with rehashed?) warfare back to gamestop. Expand

It's all a matter of taste, after all. They each provide a certain type of entertainment – when talking about Battlefield 3, it involves a bigger game, more open in its possibilities and more spectacular. But on a longer timeline, less frantic and with fewer Bruce Willis scenes than the mass appeal beast it set itself to dethrone.

No, Battlefield 3 is not the best game of today. But good looking – definitely. It also has an absolutely addictive multiplayer. Who needs more? [Dec 2011]

Both a triumphant leap forward and a return to form for the Battlefield series. This is the best multiplayer shooter on PC. [Christmas 2011, p.58]
