This definetly is the best online FPS I´ve ever played! Awesome graphics and even more awesome gameplay! Of course the single player is not as good as the multiplayer part of the game, but it isn´t bad though. Definetly worth buying!!

Visually this game is a 10 but the game play is a step backwards. 99% of people buy Battlefield for the multi-player so I won't even bother with the fail that is single player. Commander? Gone
Squads remain in the game but are limited to 4 players and all the functionality from before is simply gone. Want to play with 1 or multiple other friends, on the same team, in the same squad?

Good luck with that. You can't join the squad of your choice. You can't join a friends squad and they can't join you. You must rely on luck to get in the same squad. In its current state BF3 seems to be designed for the MW2 crowd and they lost their identity in the process.
To top it off you have to launch the game through a 3rd party web browser. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot is that all about?
BF3 has potential but they need to fix the teamwork features of the game. Every previous battlefield title surpasses BF3 in the team play department.

Im usually into COD, but I am glad I bought this game. I found the single player lacking some stuff but the multiplayer made me stay and keep playing Battlefield 3. The vehicles and variety in the multiplayer is really awesome, the battles may take quite a while, but you will never get bored of the time you spend on it.
A big 8 for this game.

The fact is it's neither, it's definitely not the best game ever with a singleplayer that's boring and forgettable after the first few missions (but then again, I was more itching to play multiplayer) and even the multiplayer had a few hiccups on day one with the occasional rubberband lag popping up here and there. However to say this game is so bad it deserved a ZERO, you either have to hate first person shooters or be a complete CoD fanboy. This is why user ratings are becoming useless especially since those 0 scores only encouraging Battlefield fanboys to instantly put a 10 to "balance" the score out. //////////////// As for my score of 8, I took a point away because the singleplayer was weak and the online multiplayer despite a alpha, beta, and launches in the past with the same rubberband lag still had issues on day one. Another point was lost because the destruction actually feels a step back from Bad Company 2 and overall this game actually feels more like a sequel to that game instead of a a true sequel to Battlefield 2. I don't get the hate for the single player campaign. It's the best in the series and I really enjoy it! The graphics are jaw-dropping amazing. I can't count the times I got shot because I stood by admiring the scenery while some PLR dude shooting me at his leisure.. Also, the jet mission is for me, one of the best 15-20 minutes ever in PC gaming.

Sure the plot is kinda cheesy and at part plain ridiculous (using a sniper rifle to shoot out lights in a parking area just for a heli drop wtf?) but so is practically every other modern shooter I played (yes, COD included!).
Multiplayer is awesome. Only begun to scratch the surface of it. I kinda like the new Battlelog system. Much faster then the old in-game server browser of BC2. All of the bugs in the beta are gone from what I've seen, but there are some quirks that are native to all DICE games. Still, the game is remarkably polished. I judge a game by the fun I have playing it and with BF3 awesome graphics and multiplayer experience, it's a no brainer.

I might give the game another chance some day if it ever goes on steam, but the fact you HAVE to use EA's Origin is simply not worth it, I've had nothing but bad experiences with it since its launch day, how are EA doing digital distribution so wrong? I'd give the game a 6 or 7 out of 10 if it didn't require Origin, being honest I think the game is over-hyped and is an incredibly average shooter.

The low scores from jealous CoD fans must be because they're 1) jealous, 2) bad at the game, 3) angry that it's been more positively received than MW2 or BO.

The multiplayer is unbalanced and already there are several hacks for the PC version. Before unlocking flares or missiles, your jet has to be shot down again and again. Defenders in Rush have a massive advantage. UMP overpowered still. In close-quarters snipers are also overpowered. RPGs also OP. Massive glitches and server problems despite beta testing. The destruction was barely improved. Graphics difference from BC2 was about from Halo 3 to ODST. It felt like the game could have been like Vietnam (an expansion pack for BC2), had it not have had a single player and co-op. The teamwork is horrible. I'm not sure if it is right to blame DICE, though, because teamwork is based on the players instead of the game. The developer can only encourage/discourage it. And I feel like it was discouraged (from BC2 anyway). Battlelog a massive annoyance. It has many problems (for example half the time I can't even join a game). The game crashes/freezes once in 15 minutes. Be advised that I have an all-purpose entertainment computer that should be able to run the game without any problems according to the minimum requirements. Battlefield 3, in a plethora of amazing modern shooters, this one stands out, with a host of new and beneficial features that include; Suppressive fire, scope glint and improved vehicular combat along with the tried and tested class system of the battlefield series this is the one to buy.

Battlefield 3 takes on a more tactical role compared to most modern day shooters in its multiplayer. the class based system improves teamwork, with the assault, support, engineer and Recon classes.
The assault can drop medpacks and heal his teammates. The support, along with his bulky machine gun gives out ammo, and the engineer can repair friendly vehicles and take out enemies with his rocket launcher. The recon can set spawn points for his whole team and take on enemies from longer distances.
This improves teamwork, even the most dumb witted player, from games that do not rely on team work can simply press a button and teamwork is done, but this is in no way dumbed down. The unlock system is extensive, with attachments for each gun ,and gadgets to unlock along the way, such as C4. the all-class weapons add versatility to any class. 3/3

Co-Op; Battlefield 3 introduces Co-op mode, where 2 or more players can take on enemies in a predetermined setting. this is great for teamwork, and also unlocks guns for multiplayer, this is easily the most overlooked feature of the game, but is a great addition, and adds a new mode, only seen in Bad company 2 via Onslaught mode. Disappointingly though, the class system is not available in co-op.

    2.5/3

    Campaign:
The campaign is not a long one, but is chock full of amazing moments that make you gasp in awe, although short, this game is truly stunning through its visceral and Immersive campaign, you can feel the characters need, you can feel their desire. but alas, it ends too soon

    2.5/3

    Graphics/audio/animations.
i have, controversially, only given this mark out of one, why? because game play is the most important thing in a shooter, but, one cannot fault battlefield 3's graphics, although one can say it is very high contrast, the game is, stunning to say the least, with destruction making a comeback from Bad company .The buildings toppling all around you adds to the immersion, and the graphical quality of the buildings is amazing. the sound is battlefield, it sounds like real guns, and the whizzing bullets feel so real, you truly do not want to stand up with bullets over your head. the animations are good and sturdy, and the reloading has "weight to it"

    1/1

I would have way more recommended it if the developers really forgot about the single player and just focused on the multiplayer part, and now they didn't it filled with bugs and glitches which then you get excuses that it's a beta or an alpha.

Not to mention the menu-system for the game is all based online which makes you feel like you really got ripped off because it looks cheap trust me the only thing nice about it is Battlelog which is kinda cool but it's EA's way of saying here run Origin or Don't play the game.

This is an OK game as it sits for the time being but yet it deserves a 40% rating due to several issues right now - First being that EA has released a game that has many graphical, gameplay, multiplayer, map, vehicle issues for instance green-flickers and being able to glitch through maps on multiplayer its nowhere near as smooth as it was shown in the previews that im sure everyone has seen. Granted it is a new game but the vehicle issues and the unrealistic nature of Battlefield 3 due to vehicles not producing realistic amounts of destruction and damage really hurt this titles reputation.

To best describe Battlefield 3 would be a cross between Homefront and Modern Warfare 2 - Homefront being due to the graphical and sketchy gameplay and Modern Warfare 2 due to BF3 trying to cut in on some profits from MW3 which currently sits at a total loss to people who have bought this game (and yes I bought the limited edition BF3). I bought 2x EVGA GTX-580 SC cards specifically for this game and yet the texture draws and polished look this game should have isn't there and not to mention the annoying lag on multiplayer games that are supposedly low-ping.

It has potential to be an awesome game but as it sits currently I wouldn't invest in it until it at least drops $20-30 or they fix hundreds of bugs and errors. Well that's all I have to say hope you found this somewhat useful.

BF3 manages to provide some of the most enjoyable, awe-inspiring gameplay I have encountered in my 20-odd years of gaming. The single player campaign is a solid, fun game in it's own right; however all of the Battlefield franchise titles have centred around multiplayer, and (with that in mind) BF3 raises the bar and then some.
BF3 MP plays every bit as fast and frantic as the trailers would have you believe, and is graphically and aurally light years ahead of any other FPS on the market (or, indeed, the radar). Explosions, weapon recoil, smoke and supression effects (to name a few factors) all have a definite impact on the player, all down to developer DICE's much-vaunted 'Frostbite 2' game engine (which definitely lives up to the hype!)
BF3 won't be for everyone, though. The vehicle gameplay and the importance of teamwork may alienate some gamers more comfortable with straight-ahead, run n' gun twitch shooters.
Most of the negative feedback I've witnessed has been on BF3 forums, and seems to centre around features missing from this Battlefield release that were present in older games: what most folk either don't realise or won't accept is that gaming has evolved from 2005. BF3 deserves to be judged on it's own merits, not on the 'sins' of it's proverbial fathers.
If we can see and accept that gaming has evolved, and we look at this game objectively and fairly, then we have a new entity as the master race: Battlefield 3.

Absolutely great game with excellent graphics, intense and immersive multiplayer, a fun coop mode, and a very decent single player.

Obviously, since this is a battlefield game the emphasis should be put on the MP, and in that aspect the game is truly outstanding - continuing the excellent gameplay experience seen in BF 1942 and BF2.

I on the other hand have had more frustrations with this game and EA's piss pore attempt at an online distribution site than I think I have ever had in all my time PC gaming. The game crashes, battlelog is an absolute joke right now, errors left and right, and glitches out the ass. Not to mention the swarm of hackers already flooding the servers. As of right now I have played maybe 20 minutes of the game and could honestly care less about it. Maybe EA will fix these problems (which were also present in the beta, funny absolutely none of it was addressed upon release). As of right now though I have had no fun with BF3. But hey, they got my money like they wanted and the game looks great on my PC so I guess thats a plus.

Personally, I'm going right back to BC2 and plan on leaving this in the dust until EA does something about Origin and the many bugs plaguing this game right now. Maybe a good game in the future but I wish I would have passed for now.

This game is extremely good in pretty much every point for a FPS (yes see how i mentioned FPS it's not a RPG so stop QQing it's not Shakespeare tbh I prefer this to other fps stories), awesome weapons/ animations/ lighting/ audio (which needs a special mention because its only non horror game thats made me literally duck in rl) and general movement of the player (which before BF3 had always has been better in the call of duty series,no hate please). Also the awesome new mechanic that they have brought to the FPS series, "suppression" which makes it a better shooter than most because suppression actually makes players get down and flank and work together to destroy an enemy fortification rather than just spray at each other in till one of you are dead.
( I held the far right section in the second stage (Metro section) in the beta with m249 against about 7-8 players because they were suppressed and the only thing that stopped me was that i had to reload and retreat and thats just awesome)

Plus guys give battlelog a go. I literally can't see why people are hating on it apart from that its just a browser rather than a menu, it really doesn't matter. In fact this way is quicker this gets me in the game quicker than a menu. I don't have look at adverts or promos or menu screens it's literally firefox/battlelog quick match bang i'm in game in less than 30 seconds I'm not sure why that is a problem apart from it's different you're all just browser racists (LOL).

Several bugs plague this game like any other but the thing with DICE is that they will work on it (like they did BF2 and BC2) and make it a better experience rather than pretty much every other company (apart from say valve or blizzard) which will be just working on DLC now just rape you're wallets. The most fun I've had in an FPS since Cod4 ;)

The intterogation scenes dont add much to the story or the game in fact the story has some pretty big plot holes that could have been solved with one line of dialogue but were ignored, thats ok though because the actual gameplay delivers. The game starts slow. Going through the basic motions of a generic shooter at first, but then once the game has given you time to get acquainted with the mechanics, i kicks into high gear. The best comparison to the kick is COD2. The adrenaline works in the same way. Except instead of pure run and gun, the game forces you to stop and think. You can go guns blazing, but that will only mean youll spend more time looking at load screens than actually playing. The story is cliched yes, but this doesnt matter because it sets up some incredible set pieces and gameplay. Mix that with the presentation and it makes for one amazing experience. The graphics are fantastic. Yes the character models are nice, as are the lighting effects and such, but what really puts it over the top are the minute details. The suppression feature along with the laser sight and the flashlight, really do change the way you play the game. Slowing it down and making you think. But thats not even the best part. During the plane mission you notice the scratches on the canopy of the plane. These arent cracks, and they arent sticking out like theyre pasted on after, they look natural, same with the dirt and stains on your characters goggles. I havent seen another company since crytek do this so masterfully. Then there is multiplayer, which is the real reason to buy this game. If yoou like a shooter online that requires skill to master and play this is it. Where as COD is populated by kids with no life who spend hours to get the highest prestige but still lack the skill to be competitive, BF3 requires skill, patience and intelligence. Where CODMW strayed from the golden path of the original 2 CODs, BF3 has come up to the plate to fulfill the craving for fun, tense and addictive gameplay. Expand

This game is amazing. The environments are perfectly made. The game play is usually pretty tight unless you run into slight lag here and there, because of the steep requirements. It just feels like you are doing the same thing as the last level, just advancing towards a goal doing nothing too entertaining along the way and killing enemies blocking you. More than anything campaign just seems to be training for multiplayer.

Multiplayer, while it has some cool maps, it isn't as fun as the beta was for some reason. Still, it is fairly entertaining.

It doesn't. I have played many hours on both Battlefield 2 and 2142, and Battlefield 3 is anything but a sequel. I was severely disappointed when Battlefield 3's Operation Metro beta came out. It was a small map, infantry only and people would run and gun constantly. Not only did it seem nothing like Battlefield 2, It looked as if COD had rubbed off all over my favorite multiplayer series and ruined it. Then I played it.

Elements of COD are in plain sight, it is obviously not Battlefield 2, but it is undoubtedly the best shooter of the year. The tactical gameplay is preserved from Battlefield 2 and 2142. Even though running and gunning is a viable tactic, you still must be cautious, and have your squad to back you up. Vehicular battles are no let-down either, tanks and APCs own the roads, with frequent engagements with enemy armor, presenting high priority targets for AT and aircraft.

The customization for weapons, vehicles and soldiers is unparalleled, want a x8 scope on your assault rifle? No problem, go ahead and put a tactical flashlight on your sniper rifle as well (Why would you do that though?). Specializations grant your soldiers improvements in things like sprinting and suppression fire. For the first time, vehicles get specialized traits as well.

With the new Frostbite 2 engine, Battlefield 3 can look amazing, in addition to preforming amazingly. The graphics are insanely realistic, making combatants stop everything in the middle of a battle to watch in awe as large pieces of a building crash down to the ground. The environments so life-like you can imagine cars driving down the street and people going about their lives (before you and the other 63 players got there that is). The thing that makes Battlefield 3 stand out the most though, is that it takes the good from previous games (and rival games) and removes the bad. Examples of this would be destructible environments, weapons doing more damage, and limits to power on some vehicles (planes, for one, are not the armor hunting invincible juggernauts of BF2). Some people might argue about what was "the bad" and what was "the good", but you cant please everyone, no matter how good of a game you make.

Having never played the single player campaign in either of the Bad Company games, I was extremely pleased with Battlefield 3 adding a campaign mode. After selecting the hardest mode I could, I set out across a story that was both interesting and thrilling. The AI was nothing special, but it was good enough to kill me many, many times. The campaign mode takes you through many infantry engagements, some stealthy, some out in an open field with fire raining down on all sides. You get to control a tank in one section, blasting away at infantry and leaving only burning piles of scrap behind when you encounter enemy armor (my favorite part). The one part I had a bit of a disappointment, was the air section. You take the gunner position of a plane, but do not get to fly. The entire level consisted of holding your cross-hairs over enemy planes, and deploying countermeasures. In all, the campaign was no Crisis, but it was enjoyable.

The one issue I have with Battlefield 3 is Origin. Origin the steam wannabe, and Origin with the shady EULA. Some people have lowered their score for Battlefield 3 considerably due to Origin, but, this is not a review for Origin, is it?. *cough*1/10*cough*.

With that, I give Battlefield 3 a next to perfect 9.8/10.

Sum it up? This game is amazing.

Why? It feels FRESH, as in it doesn't feel like COD or BC2 or any other previous game before it. I'm just going to sum everything up in bullets below so it answers most of your questions.

    - Graphics: Amazing, just amazing. You don't need 2 x GTX 580's to run it! I run it on Ultra with 2 x GTX 560's and that even feels like overkill. (sorry I don't have ATI to tell you what's good)

    - Sound: The sound alone in this game adds so much to the experience, adds a layer of tension and excitement you've never felt before.

    - Recoil: great recoil, kills/deaths are very satisfying, just the right balance so you don't have idiots running around (COD) spraying everywhere getting kills, AND it doesn't need to be on hardcore mode to feel just right.

    - Maps: The only reason people are mentioning BF3 multiplayer wanting to be like COD (that makes any sense to me) is some maps are smaller than the usual ARENAS we are used to. So basically they wanted to cater to a larger audience (COD players) who don't ALWAYS want to play in very large maps. Even with 64 players, maps like Caspian Border can have moments where you are just looking for someone to shoot for a few minutes, which isn't bad but to some people it can turn them off (kids with ADD). But they have the perfect maps for every type of player, the smaller maps are so well put together, I never once found myself feeling I'm getting killed or shot at from every corner. Everything felt balanced.

    - Replay Value: I was in awe for the first 45 minutes of playing online. Yes, I did play the Beta like everyone else but the final version felt much, MUCH better. Aside from the countless hours you are going to put into unlocking weapons etc in this game, the multiplayer gameplay itself is worth a good 2-3 years of solid gameplay for the average player. The biggest thing that stood out to me from Bad Company 2 was that it felt very dull, this is leaps and bounds above BC2. There is nothing I can complain about for the multiplayer. Conclusion: This is the game to buy for you guys who love MP FPS games. I am only writing this review because I see too many idiots bashing this game for its campaign. Battlefield is all about mutliplayer, if you want a solid campaign go play COD4. If you are having a hard time deciding between this and COD, I can tell you that this is the one game that combines every good aspect from all types of FPS games.

This is Battlefield at it's best! When im in battle, it's actually feels like a "Battlefield". The Sounds gives me goosebumps, they are probably some of the best sound effects i have ever come across. The graphic's are so impressiv if you think on how every level/map is, with 64 player's going totally insane. There are so many ways of having fun! So many options to kill your enemy and the frostegine 2 just make's this a blast. The realism, the effects, the destruction, the sounds are executed to perfection.

MW3 has nothing compared to this game. I have always praised realism ( Red Orchestra 2), but what Battlefield is good at is combining the realism with the typical-fps-shooter-genre, you can do impossible stuff and at the same time make it looks possible. But you can't go on a total rampage as in the call of duty series, where it pays of just going freaking crazy and then send in a nuclear blast in the end ( Wtf call of duty?). There are every single modern military veichle you could wise for in this game, how can you complain about that!? (Some of my friends do that --> MW2 players). When MW2 came out, i played the singleplayer, i played the multiplayer, I thought to myself," haven´t i played this game before?" (MW1) I played BBC 2 singleplayer, multiplayer, I Thought, "damm this is awesome!" (Not the Singleplayer). This is the same thing. Im not gonna buy MW3, because Activation is so greedy and lazy, that they just shoot out another MW1+2 clone. Battlefield 3 rocks my brain, and just in spite of the low ratings, im gonna give it a 10, where i actually would give it a 9. Good work Dice, keep fighting the good fight!

Buy it! And if you dont like it, you probably a Call Of Duty fan, who just realised how much Activation have screwed you, for so many years.

Subtleties like AI character expressions, overall accuracy in depicting how things are done in the military (Like the launch sequence in the jet mission "Going Hunting"), the sound realism, and much much more. Of course, the bugs/glitches that pop up throughout the story, along with an overy scripted gameplay and short, cliche story line are all certain to factor as detractors to an otherwise flawless new battlefield addition. However, if you're like me, a battlefield purist at heart, you consider the campaign to be nothing more than an added bonus to an otherwise complete and absolutely incredible multiplayer game that is sure to take up hundreds of hours of your time, and is likely to go down as one of the most groundbreaking games in video game history. (Note: I give this a 10 because frankly, a lot of people are giving this game a zero simply because of the single player experience, and I'm struggling to believe they aren't just trolling.) Expand

    Pro's:
Graphics are great. Sound is amazing. MP is fantastic. Balanced vehicles, weapons etc..

    Con's:
Single player is respectable though forgettable, origin system makes me ask why? , no steam integration, would like an ingame browser.

Huge and beautiful. The multiplayer in this game makes it more than worth it. Call of Duty has met its match (and also did in BFBC2). But now it is going to be shadowed. Don't listen to any of the negative reviews. It's more than worth the purchase.

This is not a Battlefield game. This is COD on a nicer engine, with better maps. If you like COD, you'll love this, but all die hard BF fans will get bored quickly as the lack of gameplay and focus on personal gain and unlocks clowds your vision.

large maps, killed by small boundries clustered flag positions poor vehicle balance no public server files no mod tools more focus on graphics and unlocks, not core gameplay.

I felt like the damage of weapons was a little higher than BC2, but other than that it's mostly the same gameplay. If you've not played Battlefield before, I'd still recommend this game. Keep in mind that it is not Call of Duty, so don't expect it to be like CoD. If anything, I'd say it's in between CounterStrike and Call of Duty.

Battlelog is a website (basically Facebook for guns) that you are forced to go to every time you want to find a game. The server browser is a part of the web page, and it can't detect server Ping. So you just have to pick and guess with your servers (most of the time the lag is unplayable). On top of that the website takes forever to connect, load, and finally launch the actual game.exe which then proceeds to load some more. Why did I give this game a 3 after praising it so highly? Origin. Origin is probably the worst idea to ever come out of the cesspool of bad ideas called EA. It's laggy. It's buggy. It's slow. It crashes more than RAGE did on an ATI card at launch. It's in no way, shape, or form user friendly. It records and sends entirely too much personal information to EA. I jumped into a multiplayer game and the first thing I did was jump into a jet and it was fantastic! I got into a dogfight with another guy and got my first kill. I really missed planes in battlefield. Ok, back to what I was talking about, when i finally got on the ground I moved the controller around and noticed the gun movement and overall movement was much more fluid then the beta. I found a couple people and killed them, the guns felt great and the hit markers worked better then in the beta. I jumped into a tank and took out a couple people till I was disabled and eventually killed by a couple bad guys. The graphics are excellent, the guns look great, you look and the sun and the sun glare is very realistic and there is glare off of pieces of the environment. Sometimes animations don't load properly and you will see some members of your team just hang there floating from point A to point B, other times after you land a kill the enemy will just stay there in ready position. I only encountered those bugs maybe twice each in 3 hours of gameplay, but it was still quite annoying. Then I have to mention the singleplayer. It was candidly... awful. QTEs every few minutes of gameplay, enemies spawned in two at a time from spawn points that were clearly in view, voice acting that was sub par. I know most people don't play Battlefield for the singleplayer, but every single other Battlefield game had a GREAT singleplayer experience attached, making it all the more disappointing.

Lastly Origin. Any game that forces you to use third party software for all gameplay immediately gets a a negative mark, but Origin is one of the worst offenders that I've seen. It collects personal information about your hard drive and what games you have installs, what you play, and how long you play it. In systems like steam this is a non-issue, because steam doesn't collect and use this information, but EA does not have that moral hangup. If not for Origin this would be a solid 7/10, if not for the bad singleplayer 8.5/10.
