HOWEVER multiplayer tho is where you get what you paid for, its immense!!! I have played all the Call of Duty's (from the first ever one to black ops) and started playing Battlefield from Bad Company 2 and boy oh boy i wish i started playing the battlefield series earlier. There is so much to BF3 multiplayer, it looks great (even on low graphics), the maps are fantastic ranging from vast maps with jets and large scale warfare going all the way down to the very COD like team deathmatch mode on maps modified and made small for team deathmatch play. I have already mentioned the graphics, but the sound deserves a mention and for me no other game has ever got close to the quality that Battlefield has in terms of sound. You can hear bullet's whistling by, the scream of a jet above and the crackle of gun fire from the distance. Oh another random mention on the graphics (sorta), I love the fact that when you are playing on the night maps you get fantastic tracer fire that lights the battlefield up. So basically if you love multiplayer, just play this and you will be hooked for months!

On a side note, I find it really sad that people who probably havent even played the game, let alone brought it give it scores of 1 and 0 etc. Really are that petty!!!!!!!!!!

Strange story, fantastic graphics, ultimate sound... average single player mode, but the best multiplayer. I short words: buy if you prefer multiplayer. For singleplayer gaming is better stuff on the market.

    All in all useless.

    2. Battlelog: Second source of trouble because it's runs in a browser! Why?
The Voice Channel, the multiplayerlounge, everything, the whole communication design, everything is very confusing and buggy.

    3. Battlefield 3:
The graphics are very elaborated and textures are realistic, (except the many bug which I hope will be fixed soon) sometimes the effort to be as most realistic as possible ruins the gameplay, like the flashlight and all the laserpointers, just annoying.
All in all the graphics in Bad Company 2 appeared more realistic to me.
Character Design is just stupid, e.g. russian soldiers with giant watches and why do the engineers wear gas masks all the time??? Please don't try to be realistic at all cost.

    Gameplay:
Nearly all of the new inventions in the gameplay are reinventions of older battlefield versions like: weapon fire mode, lying on the groung, jets, or things that I could even remember since "Wolfenstein Enemy Territory" (even there it was possible to time your grenade). Frostbite promissed that it's possible to destroy nearly everything, I dreamed of having bomb crates, but sometimes it's hard to just cut down a tree with a tank or roll over a guardrail. The whole point system is just made for all those addicts, it disadvantages those who don't want to spent all there private life playing FPS and as I think it's another loss for a balanced gameplay, it doesn't provide ability in first place but attendance. Tactics or teamplay are not really necessary if you have the beter weapon. Go on an trie to get a high rank, next year there will be a new game and there you start at zero. It's just to keep you gaming and gaming even though the basic gameplay is nothing special. Let me call it just swagger like the whole mock battlelog wolf in sheep's clothing facebook. Sorry.
Maps are confusing, maybe I'm not used to it or it's snipers wonderland. And as far as I can see, good night modding, looks like this is the end of all Battlefield Mods.

    ASO ASO

Sorry I've had more fun playing BC2 or BF2, my critic would have been better if there had been some real new inventions except better graphics.

Key binding! why allow me to bind my own keys but then during all quick time events make me use the original ones! Too many quick time events too. Still buggy, my comrades got stuck at one point(they continued to shoot at a wall when all enemies were dead), i carried on and eventually it fixed itself. Kept crashing on the last level due to key bindings. walked over invisible rocks. final fight, first time around my enemy was invisible! Multiplayer is excellent, shame about using origin and the browser as it can be very slow. Its such a shame as this game could have been awesome, instead its just good. They probably could have stolen a few COD fans if they had included a couple of smaller maps.

Battlefield 3 is a truly spectacular FPS. I'm sure it's the game that DICE wanted to make. Unfortunately, it's not the game that I wanted them to make. I'm just going to make this short and sweet and break this review up into pros and cons...

    PROS:
    - Awesome graphics, amazing lighting, and insane effects make for a very visceral experience.
    - Infantry combat just feels great. Everything from running, jumping, and shooting feels very solid and refined.
    - The sounds! Wow! Just amazing.
    - Conquest, Rush, and TDM on every map.
    - Weapons feel pretty well balanced for the most part, although no game gets balance right on the first go.
    - Battlelog is a particularly good server browser for the game.

    CONS:
    - People who don't have multiple monitors might find Battlelog to be cumbersome.
    - Sloppy blue-glowing UI design that is hard to read and makes very poor use of available screen space.
    - Chat window is idiotically placed in the right-center of the display, overlaps a considerable portion of the view, doesn't scale with resolution.
    - No in-game VOIP.
    - Horrible mouse control for jets. After you move the mouse the jet's control surfaces auto-center, which makes maneuvering erratic at best.
    - Only basic joystick support. You can't set joystick control rates or individual sensitivities for different vehicles.
    - Game configuration can only be accessed while you're spawned in a live match.
    - No ability to save kits.
    - Poor overall map design. Conquest maps feel much smaller than BF2 maps and flags are spaced closer together. Battles feel less "epic" than BF2, overall.
    - The command rose is utterly useless in its current form. It takes a second for it to pop up, and then it's impossible to see which item you have selected.

I could go on with the cons, but I think I'll stop there. BF3 is a great game in its own right, but it's not really what I consider to be a true successor to BF2. It's more like a hybrid of BC2 and BF2 with smaller-feeling maps, smaller-feeling battles, less epic-ness, and very little feeling that you're playing in a "sandbox" environment. There's not as much stuff in BF3 to have fun with as there was in BF2 and, to a certain extent, BC2 as well. DICE has whittled the Battlefield experience down to the husk, leaving only a few kernels of hope that it could one day grow into the game BF2 veterans really wanted. The "Back To Karkand" expansion may make or break this game for a lot of veteran players.

Battlefield 3 isn't much more than a console port, they simply allowed servers to have up to 64 players since PCs could handle this even 8 years ago. There are now many more weapon choices, yet most of them are highly similar and are only there to make you waste hours unlocking all the accessories. The only real progress this game has made in the series is graphics, which is natural. The game is still as fun as the older Battlefield games, but for its lack of expanding its size to match the modern computers its not getting more than a 6. I had high hopes for BF3 ever since i saw the sneak peak trailer, and after playing the game several hours a day everyday since it came out, I can honestly say it delivered, and delivered more than I hoped for. The classes are balanced, weapons feel great, vehicles are fun and not overpowered, and the graphics are simply stunning. The classes are balanced, weapons feel great, vehicles are fun and not overpowered, and the graphics are simply stunning. If you do not have a top end system to play this game then you are doing yourself an injustice, it's just so absolutely gorgeous on max setting. I've always been a loyal CoD fan, I've reached max prestige on both MW2 and BLOPS, but I am pretty sure I won't be getting MW3 because it doesn't seem to contain anything new and exciting compared to the previous 2 games.
Now let's move to the "cons", first there is Origin, something everyone seems to absolutely hate, i didn't like it at first either but after being forced to use it for a while I am starting to get a hang of it and found it to be not bad at all, once they fix all the bugs with it, it just might be a decent program. Then there is the single player, DICE tried pretty hard to make the single player more modernwarfare'ish, but didn't quite reach their goal. I don't think it's bad by any means but i doubt I'll finish it unless my internet goes out or something. People reviewing this game based on single player's quality is just silly. 99.99% of the time spent in this game will be spent in multiplayer, no one expected DICE to deliver a decent single player experience and I think they did ok with BF3. Multiplayer is what battlefield is about, and your reviews should reflect that.
Overall if you want the best multiplayer experience, then this is THE game to get, just make sure you get it on the PC :)

    - Its awesome! Nothing like hearing the sounds of bullets whizzing by your head, deafening explosions that sounds like it would really knock you down. DICE has out done themselves again.

    Gameplay (Single Player): 7/10
    - The single player campaign, in particular the story is a bit out of place. If you are buying the game just to play the single player, look elsewhere.

    Game play (Multi Player): 10/10
    - It amazing, this is the very reason why you would want to buy Battlefield 3 in the first place.

    Game play (Co Op): 8.5/10
    - Its fun, but the fact that you only get 6 ~5-10 min long missions, its more of a diversion rather than the meat of the package.

    Online Services: 8/10
    - BF3's online services is detailed and has amazing depth. The only issue I've had with it was trying to get into games with friends as parties...

    Replay Value: 10/10
    - Give the history of the Battlefield series, we can expect tons of top quality mods to be coming out within the next year or so, this in addition to the amazing mappers out there should definitely extend the shelf life of BF3

Never bomb a review because the delivery service **** up. Yes, it's the same company, but if you want to review Origin, go review Origin. After all, once BF3 is installed, it generally stays out of your way. Here, we review Battlefield 3. That being said, this game is not what I was expecting. It takes a lot from Bad Combat 2, yes, but it is certainly not a clone of it nor BF2. The in-game UI is simple and effective, the spawning options keep the old "Battlefield Sprint" to a minimum, and the customization options are easy to access and switch quickly during a round. The balancing is great for classes and weapons, not so great for some maps (Metro and Canals are the biggest culprits here). Leveling up is genuinely rewarding and easy to follow. The controls are dead simple. And above all, the graphics are amazing and well-optimized. Even on low settings, the game looks fantastic. As for the singleplayer, yes, it's lackluster. But most Battlefield games are not focused on singleplayer. It's basically a tutorial on how to play the game - it walks you through a lot of gun and vehicle options, and you learn how to control them in a safe environment. Sure, the story's bad, but if you're buying any Battlefield game for singleplayer (or, for that matter, any FPS) you're making a huge mistake. Co-op is better; while the story is virtually non-existent, it's still fun to play with a friend without dealing with respawning. Multiplayer is definitely where the game shines. Battlefield has always had top-notch team-based gameplay, and BF3 is certainly no exception. Glitches? I've seen a few, yes, but who hasn't in any FPS game? The basic gameplay mechanics work very well, glitches are mostly just cosmetic and excusable. I have only had the game crash once, and it was because Windows blew up. Battlelog is not as bad as people make it out to be; it is useful in a lot of ways, and while I do agree that having to use a website is a pain, you get used to it after a while. Adding friends to games is easy, especially in platoons, and generally lands you in the same squad on the same team. Get yourself a Teamspeak server, some friends, and BF3 is really a great game. Why 9/10? The singleplayer was bad, yes, but it's such an insignificant part of the game - basically just a tutorial - that it doesn't impact the rating that much. Origin was a giant mistake, sure, but it's only in installation and, from what I can tell, this Metacritic page isn't about Origin. The bottom line is this game is definitely one of my favorite FPS games of the past decade - maybe, just maybe, edging out BF2. Expand

That coupled with EA's crappy connectivity client, which makes using Gamespy in the old days a joy compared to what they've presented for 2011, makes the experience very disappointing.

Whenever I try to play multiplayer I feel like I'm playing some kinda mediocre F2P game from some **** company like Nexon instead of a developer as prestigious as DICE.

Though the gameplay can be fun, it's just ruined by the worst online platform ever conceived. (No, seriously. **** Origin.)

So, the multilayer is a flop, but it should have a good singleplayer to make up for the terrible server browsers, right? Well, it doesn't. It looks pretty when you watch someone else play it, but playing it for yourself is a totally different story. The reason BC2 was so great is because it felt like a sandbox game instead of the typical on-rails minecart-bound shooter that everyone's grown so bored of. Now, I knew that DICE was going to make BF3 less Sandboxy, but I never expected them to make a shooter even more linear than Call of Duty. In fact, one of the missions in the campaign puts you in the **** of a fighter jet. Now, you think you'd be able to fly this **** but you can't. You sit in the co-pilot seat and shoot other planes while your partner does the flying for you.

The gameplay can be fun at times, but most of the time this game just gave me a headache. And I was constantly bothered by how much plot material they stole from Black Ops. I mean, come on. A soldier having flashbacks while being interrogated by a pair of government agents who accuse him of conspiring with a Russian special operative, all the while America is on the brink of armageddon? Does this ring a bell?

And you know what, the pieces of storyline that they didn't steal from BlOps are dull as all hell. This game's storyline's one of the the most boring and unsubstantial things I've ever had to sit through in my whole life.

There is no need for the stupid quicktime sequences either. I counted, you push two buttons per scene on average. You might as well just take them out of the game, because all they did was make me laugh at such a meager attempt to create an interactive cutscene.

All in all, this game feels rushed, and nowhere is it more evident than in the glitches. Sometimes bodies turn weightless and float in midair, there's severe clipping issues and though I'm not reviewing the console versions, it's safe to say that I've played them too, and the graphics are **** Like, worse than BC2. I don't really know how that's possible.

If you're looking for a unique shooter experience, you won't find it here. This game is just another crappy, dull, boring, repetitive, uninspired military shooter with nothing more to it's name than it's shiny graphics and bull**** destruction engine. It just doesn't live up to Bad Company 2. Sorry.

Sure, it makes you feel great when you get a ribbon, but this is nothing more than a grind to keep players coming back for more of the same garbage served on EA's Origin (which has issues as well). The game looks fantastic and sounds equally fantastic, but core game design and levels are not well thought out and only exist to keep you grinding away. Expand

Now as much as people are raving on about the graphics, there are some nice touches, but all in all, it's rather gimmicky, light flares lighting up nothing but the immobile transparent predefined collection of splatters on your face to enthrall your eyeholes. High res textures are nice, some rather clever shortcuts that still look flashy without sacrificing performance, but you'll need to be liberal with performance if you want to steal any thunder from the likes of Crysis 1, which I still consider the graphics overlord (I'm a whore for eyecandy), or to perform a jump in visuals as it did for it's time.
What DOES steal the show for me, I have to say, is the audio. Excellent backdrop noises, distanced action, indoor echoes, footsteps that actually sound like what you're maneuvering on, and gunfire around you that makes you bloody well hope it's not coming towards you as you dive for your flimsy brick and mortar cover. Top notch job here.

Singleplayer is a major downer, as it's a rather dramatic story with some decent acting added that ultimately culminates in something utterly forgettable and lifeless. Crummy plot told in an entirely unartistic, uninnovative and tardy prequel format, and the closest deviation towards something remotely hinted to as a twist is shooting your own CO. Though I have to say, I'm happy you don't trundle along with the mobility of a stocked dairy freezer chest as BF:BC2's protagonists did. Though there was talk of a Vanilla milkshake in there somewhere.

Multiplayer on the other hand is a little bit more of a dusty gem. The Battlelog interface is a bloody dealbreaker, since you have to quit and reconnect to change server, (OR IF YOUR NVIDIA DRIVER STOPS RESPONDING, which seems to be a clock frequency issue... Tut tut, DICE.) but even with their stubborn refusal to add an ingame server browser, what was wrong with running an interface from that abomination called Origin that we were forced to have on our PC's in the first place? Why have ANOTHER middleman?
But all in all, past all the **** the multiplayer handles well, the weapons are responsive and do what they're expected to do, and your thunderthighs prepare you for miles of endless sprinting which speeds things up a bit. It's really fun and the unlocks are varied and satisfying enough to give you incentive to keep going.

Just one thing... SPAWNING. OH GOOD LORD THE SPAWNING.

In short, if you have either consoles (which I usually don't consider for any FPS at all, but Battlelog really makes exceptions here), consider yourself a multiplayer buff, and enjoy a massively open battlefield with some serious distanced fighting (on foot anyhow) and exquisite audio, buy. PC, beware of that hive of scum and villany known as ORIGIN and Battlelog.
I've uninstalled it in the hopes that DICE will prefer to host it on a different service or standalone, though chances of that are tentatively slim.

However, HALT CRIMINAL SCUM! It's off to Skyrim!

The team working mechanics work great with squad leaders and Rush has been improved 10 fold. there are only 2 complaints that i have. one is that in conquest your team REALLY matters. if your team sucks you will most likely lose the game. un like rush one man cannot tern the tide of a battle. (which can be good and bad depending on if your playing with friends or not). the other down side that i find to this game is Origin and the use of battlelog. You must have an internet connection to ply this game be it SP or MP which is a big flaw. this is my reason for giving it a 9/10 instead of 10/10. final word is that this game is amazing. the MP alone is worth the $60. and the SP and CO-OP are really just free addons. but if your getting battlefield then your getting it for the MP and it is just down right intense, fun, and balanced. I feel sorry for anyone who hasn't started playing yet or who will receive this game as a gift later this year since they are in for an experience equivalent to hazing.

Battlefield 3 is deliberately abusive to new or below-average skill players. Yes, there are weapons to unlock like previous Battlefield games. Unfortunately, DICE has taken a good thing to the extreme this time around. Did you know you can unlock faster firing speed for vehicles, faster reloads for vehicles, better body armor against explosives, faster sprinting, bipods that make your aim steady, and more? If you haven't started playing by now your enemy has all of these advantages. If you haven't started playing yet you don't have these advantages and will be constantly dominated by players who do have these advantages.

Unfortunately, there is no way to avoid this immediate disadvantage. You must fight through ever-increasingly difficult odds just to try and rank up to the level of your opponents. By the time you get there they will scored so many points against you that the problem of imbalance will persist. This is not a game that features a level playing field. It goes out of its way to make it imbalanced whether you drive a vehicle or hoof it on foot. Even the vehicles have features that must be unlocked. Enjoy being a sitting duck in an armored vehicle as the enemy pelts you with a faster firing speed and missile that you haven't unlocked.

I could add some commentary about maps in this game. I could add commentary about weapons and vehicles. None of that really matters when the core gameplay mechanics are this badly imbalanced. None of the game's content or performance matters when you join a multiplayer server and find that even your allies sprint right by, demand you let them drive a vehicle because it doesn't have unlockable offensive and defensive capabilities when you drive, or your friends refuse to play on your team because you're too far behind them in terms of unlocks and ranks.

I cannot advocate for a game in which gives players advantages over each other. Weapon unlocks were a nice way to add diversity to the game. Giving players advantages the same way they unlock new content is absolutely brutal. This is not a game of skill or an objective-based team game -- it is purely about who can unlock the most content the fastest.

I'm sure this is the best multiplayer shooter nowadays, but I expected much more and more serious single content. The story of the campaign was quite boring, the gameplay was dull, and there wasn't any special feature like in Bf Bad Company 2. Not a bad game, but after the large hype I expected much... much better.

Then you must download a 10gig install for the digital version, install Origins and a webbrowser plugin before you can even play the game. Then you have to wait for the updates, after downloading the files, the setting up of the game and its requirements took me 90 minutes last night the first time around, in what has to be described as a complete nightmare.

By the end of it I was already extremely frustrated and annoyed with EA and this game. Not a good first impression.

To get to this point I had to agree to no less than 3 different Eulas, one of which, the one for origins required me to give EA permission to collect data about me. No opt out option, if you want to play battlefield 3, you have to agree to this.

Once everything was installed, I was presented with a webpage that is Battlefields main menu. That is right, Battlefield 3 has no standard in game menu. It is the ultimate in "you must have an internet connection to play" system, because without one, your not even going to get to the options screen to set things up. Even multiplayer games need the player to set up the game so it works best on their system and gives them a smooth frame rate. Unfortunately the best EAs auto system could do was Auto everything and set the screenmode to max, which is generally not good for a brand new shooter on my computer. Btw max res here is 2048 x 1152, that was the res it choose for my 3 year old Quadcore computer. I meat the requirements easily enough but I think you have to agree, that is a little extreme. Next I set up the server filter to give me a list of games that should have a good ping and tried to join one. 20 minutes later, I was still waiting for it to load the server. And that should have been a warning for me to give up and go and play Mount and Blade Warbands but I failed to take the hint and kept trying until 4 am by which time I gave up and went to bed. Just like the old gamespy system that added a few minutes to the join server process and often leads you to being disconnected because a server has filled up before you even get your game loaded, this has the same problem. Only this time its much much worse. The login process is basically downloading a list of players in the game. Only players join and quit so fast, it is out dated before you get a full list or even see the server.

Once you get beyond the login and connecting messages, it starts to load the map, it is at this point you either see a black screen, or a loading map screen or a flashing white dot in the corner. If this works you can be connected in around 4 minutes. That was the time it took to let me join a server for the only 10 minute laggy game I managed to get in too since buying this game. I have literally only managed to play this for 10 minutes and then the map changed and I was disconnected and have not been able to join any more servers since then. The single player is joke, most of it a movie with parts where you have to hit space bar like crazy. Not the battlefield experience we buy the game for, thats for sure.

The web interface plugin needed to join the game crashes out, Battlefield 3 crashes out, being able to join games at all seems to be a luxury reserved for the chosen ones, the lucky players that manage to play Battefield 3 without issue.

After spending a total of 4 hours over 2 days to get in to the game, and only managing that one 10 minute game. I went searching the net for solutions and found this issue is pretty common. There are lots of people with this issue. The internet is literally full of reports of people who paid £40 for a game that does not let them join any servers. And none of the solutions posted actually work. Now I hate giving 10 scores or 0 scores but if a game does not work at all, then a zero score is all I can give it. So a zero score is what this is getting. If you buy this game, you may find it is a cause of frustration and anger more than fun, never has a system been such a nightmare to setup and install, so invasion in what it demands from YOU, and never has a game that needed all that been so unforgiving buggy and unplayable. Take my advice, do not throw £40 away, do not wait for the bugs to fixed, just write this one off as a bad job and cheer Ubi for their excellent online copy protection system that everybody hates because compared to this, that is pure joy!

While BFBC2 had only big, urban maps, BF 3 has a variety of them. Purely urban, purely rural, miyed, etc. This time map design is not like "hill, hill, tree, house, tree", which is a really positive thing for me. The co-op campaign is fun to play, however it could have been a bit longer, and sometimes it lacks creativity, but anyways, it's fun if you have a skilled friend to play with. The singleplayer also changed since BC2, it's linear, and scripted, similar to the CoD games. If you like, CoD-style SP, then you probably will enjoy the ~5-6 hours of it. I was a bit disappointed though, i expected a much deeper and character-based storyline. Don't get me wrong, i liked it, and BTW it has a story on par with the Modern Warfare games' SP, but for comparison, Black Ops had a much better and deeper story.

So my final verdict on this game: it totally worth its money, you are gonna have TONS of fun playing the multiplayer (if you are not afraid of playing games that require actual skill). It is the perfect shooter for me, so i give it a 10/10.

They've removed all the tactical gameplay that made Battlefields 1942/2/2142 so great, the game turns into a mindless grind with no balance or thought. Some of the maps are better than others, but there are 4 or 5 out of the 9 that come with the game that are up with the worst from Bad Company 2, which was a sort of mini-console-Battlefield that Battlefield 3 wasn't supposed to be emulating. Like, two of the nine Battlefield 3 maps are literally linear underground tunnels. I was extremely disappointed that there isn't a single large-scale map up there with even the mid-sized maps from the old Battlefield games. If you look at the promo videos which pretty much all involve flying jets (which have no effect on the rest of the game by the way, they're in the game mostly for looks and bullet points I think) the maps look pretty large but all of the capture points are clustered in one tiny area which turns the game into another Call of Duty. They seem to have focused much more on adding a bunch of annoying leveling features, you start out with nothing and then have to grind your way up to get more gear, eventually you'll unlock weapons like an IR Scope that's basically a dev-endorsed wall-hack or gun addons that remove all of your recoil. There are some really huge oversights like air vehicles not starting out with countermeasures, which means as soon as you take off you'll be shot down by one of the 12 players on the other team wielding missile launchers, until you grind enough to unlock something to defend yourself. Nothing in this game is about being "fun", it's about being addictive and fulfilling a lot of soulless corporate metrics. Who cares if the game plays like crap, if you can compel players to grind out a bunch of silly awards? If you're reading this review 3 months from now, you should probably just avoid, because I suspect it will be really miserable to start out in this game once you're going up against teams of experienced players with leveled upped gear. I only tried single player for about 2 minutes, within that time I shot a few AK-47 wielding masked terrists and QTE'd a man to death and then QTE jumped from an exploding train, which is way too many QTE's for me. If you like games that try to look like action movies I think you'll really enjoy this one though. The only positives I can think of are that the graphics and sound are very nice. I'm still holding out hope there will be some sort of additional maps or expansion or something that fixes some of the problems, but I really doubt it based on what I've seen so far, Battlefield 3 has already sold like a hojillion copies so I do not think Electronic Arts gives a **** Expand

The unlock system is familiar and enticing always pushing you to play one more match to get that next weapon or add-on. The shooting mechanics are truly amazing realistic weapon handling and bullet physics make every engagement truly feel dangerous and rarely does a death feel cheap. Tanks handle like a dream heavy and cumbersome but with the ability to trade handling for speed at the press of a button it makes some pretty tactical options open up, stay and fight or pop a smoke screen and reverse full speed. Helicopters are perfect, subtle movements lead to victory but playing like it's an arcade game with see you nose diving into the earth. Jets are finicky but perform well, as of writing this they are pretty hard to get kills with early on and my only advice is try it out and if you aren't too hot stick with it it has a serious learning curve.

Overall Battlefield 3 is an amazing game that SHOULD NOT BE MISSED if you're a shooter fan! Call of Duty fan boys will bash it and in all honesty as a CoD player myself (not a big fan, just a player) they shouldn't! Both great games that sucked hours of my time. must agree that BF3 is the by the best looking game in the BF series, but I'm very disappointed in the game menu interface (i.e. multiplayer, campaign selection), and single player campaign. More importantly I'm very disappointed about being forced to download a bloated client (origin) to run MY game. I don't care if EA wants to use it as social media service. Quite frankly, I do not regularly use the mainstream social media sites (except reddit). If i understood that I needed to use Origin and install a web plug-in. I wouldn't have bought the game. For the following user experience please note that I own a brand new Alienware Area-51 rig, with i7 and Crossfire enabled on twin 6870s. To start BF3 you click on the BF3 icon, then you wait about 30 seconds to a minute until Origin starts, again you wait another minute, finally firefox starts. At this point to play multiplayer, you need to set or reset your server filter depending on what type of game you want to play (i.e. rush or conquest). Once you have your filter in place, you need to select your server. You'll probably go through 5 or 6 until you find an available server. Now you can join a game and the game starts loading, so prepare to wait another minute or two. Finally you're in the game and hopefully you're not changing maps, because you'll need to wait a few more minutes. Now you in the game, and you'll get to experience some pretty good game play.

I thought the game play was good if you were a soldier. You could sprint as much as needed, the shooting and rifles we're fun as hell. You could run, dive jump and move quick to cover. I didn't enjoy being a sniper as I thought their wasn't as many good snipe points as BC2 or 2142. That was really disappointing to me as I love being a sniper. As for the vehicles, they sure as hell look pretty. However, I felt that the vehicles we're non-responsive, and the damage they did was poor in comparison to Bad Company 2. As a game play note, make sure you have your controls down when you try flying a jet.

Overall an average game, and because of the Origin experience I'm getting nervous about play SWTOR. I'm not going to ask for my money back, but I hope they improve it dramatically. I'd much sooner have a native client to run the game.

My one problem is there is no squad voice chat in multiply player... it's okay I guess because my friends are using a third-party application and we can talk among ourselves. It's when my friends aren't playing, I wish there was a way to talk to your squad... it is a squad based shooter.

And all the negative user reviews: Here's the thing... If your computer is older than a year and don't want to invest in computer parts, don't buy this game... we who have money to modernize don't want you to play anyways. Other thing, I hate MW players that complain it's too hard... maybe because this game is too realistic and not an arcade shooter. I play both and MW is a run-and-shoot where BF is a think-and-shoot game.

BF3 is a solid multiplayer FPS. The campaign is pretty generic, the usual Tom Clancy 'omg nukes' BS. A couple levels are pretty cool (the jet level in particular), but the rest has been done to death, and done better by other series. Everything has been upgraded from BC2; map size/player count, graphics, destruction, all the good stuff. The only thing I don't like about BF3 is its association with the battlelog, and Origin in general. The battlelog is a completely uneccessary facebook-like application the PC version is run from and I'm hoping there will eventually be a way to bypass it entirely. *edited to add* Most of the multiplayer bugs I've encountered *seem* to have been fixed; no server disconnects or unexplained score losses all weekend, so I've returned my score to an 8. Never in all my 30 years of gaming has an experience such as this been available - sure the previous Battlefield iterations have come close but clearly progression has resulted in perfection. The singleplayer campaign mode, an obvious "hey we can do this" feature is not something you buy this title for - I can guarantee you that nobody who bought this game bought it with the singleplayer in mind. People know what the Battlefield series is about, it sells itself. Consider the campaign as a bonus feature. And yes it has nothing on, for example, COD's epic movie-style gameplay. But if that's how you're thinking about this game, you're thinking about it all wrong.

Alt tabbing in games has always been a shaky deal, and having all your stats outside the game means you either play window mode, or wait until you're done playing to have a look at what's coming up for whatever gun you're using and so forth. I had seen the adverts, watched the movies and read the previews and was looking forward to more destruction, more realism etc etc. What I got instead was something that reminded me of Frontlines: Fuel of War in look and character and something that sent me back to Battlefield: Vietnam in terms of my satisfaction. In multiplayer, this looks pretty good in places but it feels laggy, it looks and plays arcadey and it does not live up to its promise in its current form. It is not (and on reflection was not intended as) a sequel to Bad Company 2, which is what I personally wanted but it also does not feel like BF2. It feels lighter, less substantial, less grown up almost. It is disappointing...particularly given the lack of destruction compared to BFBC2.

In single player the campaign is okay if unfulfilling, with make-work tasks, plots like half the recent FPS' out there, dull mass enemies that remind me of DF: Black Hawk Down and one of the most bizarre design decisions I have seen in a long time. Someone thought that I would enjoy mashing the space bar or mashing E and the left mouse button to stimulate some events instead of using..erm..skill. Its like playing Dragon's Lair, mashing the button and watching Dirk act out some event over which you have barely any control. Weird..

Overall I am disappointed. If you want more BF2 you might feel that although this looks good it is still a bit light, a bit arcadey and insubstantial. If you want more BC2 then wait for Bad Company 3 (if it is on the cards).

Summarizing I would say that to the very hot multiplayer action the BF3 definitely is they added an average single player campaign that is a nice addition. The graphic and gameplay is great and I can play it with my 45KB-DSL completely perfect. The only thing that sucks is origin, but who isn't used to tons of rape with recent online action (steam, webzen,F2P mmos ....)

So in details I would say that in modern times the singleplayer of a multiplayer focused game like Battlefield is something nobody really cares about and so I think its not that big a deal like everyone of those Bad reviews is trying to make it. Admittedly it is a cheap story and you can play it in about 4 to 5 hours at the most but I enjoyed it and it really is the perfect time filler for the first day when the activation servers are down :p. The Multiplayer on the other hand is really great. I played no BF before this one but I played various other FPS games like COD4 or CSS online and I have to say the combination of great graphics and massive action is unmatched. On a full 64 people server when you battle in a small town for 4 spots and every spot is a constant hot spot it's just loads of fun. At the beginning you enter the streets everything seems like normal, though empty town, but in the end of the round everything its just like some kind of bomb trashed everything. No house has its walls intact an everything is crashed, trees fell, cars exploded, etc. Ok, if you want to relax then you should not play BF3 with more than 20 People, but then on the other hand why not just play WoW or Second Life? I think one of the best things about BF3 is that you don't have to search for action because its almost everywhere. And you can choose which kind of Action you want. Driving with a tank in the middle or chilling on a hill with a sniper rifle? It can be done and its both extreme fun.
I played an engineer for most of the time and I think thats the hottest class. You take your rocket launcher and fire at the nearest tank (or you just shoot your enemy in the face, he won't like it :)). There are also fueltanks everywhere that just wait to explode in huge fireballs when you shoot at them ;]
I recommend you just buy the game, go online, take the engineer's rocket launcher and shoot at the nearest house right in front of you and just see what happens. Then you're hooked.

Love the game! Definetely a step up from BFBC2. A very realistic FPS experience. Stunning visuals, maxed out on my 6870 crossfire. Game has crisp and realistic sound effects. Play with no less then 5.1 speakers. Decend sount card is a must for this game. Sound effects will put you right in the battle atmosphere. Can't give this less than 10.

Battlefield 3 has been through a lot. An advertising campaign of showing up Call Of Duty. A rocky start to servers, and a war with other FPS's. Let me tell you one thing, Battlefield 3 is great, if you play online. The single player isn't that great, but the online multiplayer is a very enjoyable and rewarding experience, and improves everything over the beta.

Right, I've played every battlefield game since Bad Company 1. So far Battlefield 3 is a mess in my opinion. I get spawn killed at least 5 times every game, lasers torchlights are a joke my own team cause me more hardship when they use these than the enemy! There is no need for them. I dislike how much it takes to take down certain vehicles. It should take one tank shell to blow up a jeep. Not three. I always felt such satisfation taking out a jeep from across the map with a tank. Completely absent here, Prone was a bad idea, so many campers its ridiculous. When people go prone it looks like a dead body sometimes, its way over used. Bad company 2 had an easy to man loadout set up. Its just plain awkard and confusing here. I could talk all day about why I'm dissapointed with this game. They made the same mistake the call of duty franchise made, they are trying to do too much **** that isnt needed and just opens more ways for people to be cheap and ruin the game for everyone else. I hope something happens that changes my opinion of this. Maybe its just because its a new game and im not used to it yet I dont really know. So far though, im not impressed. Expand

It's a great game, two problems - Origin and Battlelog.
    My score:
9 - singleplayer, good story, music, here is a very good sound, much better to play with headphones.
9 - multiplayer, very large maps, graphics is good, 64 players.

2 points for the anticipated game I have yet to get a taste of. Minus every other point for how broken Origin is. Releasing a game that is locked to a third party software like Origin, and then have the application so broken and unfinished is just unacceptable. Not to mention one of the worst and most useless support chatlines in the history of gaming.

That being said, what users were forced to endure because of EA's bullheadedness is unacceptable. Between the privacy concerns and the the fact that EA has decided to use their publisher clout to strongarm their failed and rebranded EA Store into relevancy by forcing it on everyone by making big name titles like this require it, is just short of a direct attack on the sensibilities of the gaming community. I only wish the gaming community was united enough to send a message to these people and let them know this is not competition, this is leveraging power to remove choice, and that between removing our options and not having the decency to ask us to opt in, rather opting to invade our privacy, this whole scenario has been egregiously NOT OK. This will only be a quick review as my full review will be up on Nave360. This quick review is also based on the game, not the "Origin spys on you **** or any other problems with Origin.

I played on High graphics, and when you saw the graphics from a distance, the game looked fantastic. Of course, the closer you got to graphics, it didn't look as wonderful as you may have thought.

I played on High graphics, and when you saw the graphics from a distance, the game looked fantastic. Of course, the closer you got to graphics, it didn't look as wonderful as you may have thought. Frostbite 2 is great but with it's flaws. Some of the textures disappear right in front of your eyes, characters walk through walls, and I can't believe there's no splash when you walk on water. Literally, the characters look like Jesus just walking on water without a splash. Frostbite 2 is great, but buggy. The SP is rather short. I begun at like 1pm and finished at 9pm the same day (of course I spent 2 hours doing other stuff, so the SP took me about 6 hours). The SP also seemed to have no point to it, as all it had you doing was chasing around meaninglessly for something.

The MP is a lot more fun than Medal of Honors was, but still not perfect. There's only 8 or so maps, which to be honest, a multiplayer game should ship with at least 12 (I know the DLC is coming out soon but that isnt the point). I won't talk about the MP much here but it's decent enough.

Multiplayer mode is awesome. Even if at launch I was concerned about clustered flags issue, now I can say this is not a problem. Weapon damage and hitreg (even on high ping servers) is perfect. Sounds are brilliant. Visuals... Oh, the visuals deserves its own big review, looks amazing and vivid. Jets and helis not underpowered, but requires skill to operate. Yes, some bugs and glitches still exists, but I hope that future patches will correct them.

Definitely, BF3 is worth its money. SP 8/10, MP 10/10. Because singleplayer is just sweet addition to Battlefield, my final score for it - 10.

I do not like the Battlelog launcher site, it could just as easilly have been an in game browser. The singleplayer game is pretty stale, trying to capture the spirit of the MW series. Teamate AI is useless, providing zero support or cover for you and at times won't even bother to return fire on enemies and rarely hitting anything when they do, enemies however are much more adept at target aquisition bordering on the realm of precognitive. This is a solid game from single player to co-op to multiplayer. The single player is just another fps single player. There is nothing special about it but fun to play. Co-op is a little different and more fun. The multiplayer is where BF3 shines.

It's all a matter of taste, after all. They each provide a certain type of entertainment – when talking about Battlefield 3, it involves a bigger game, more open in its possibilities and more spectacular. But on a longer timeline, less frantic and with fewer Bruce Willis scenes than the mass appeal beast it set itself to dethrone.
