Hell it ain't a patch on BF2 but for what's available in the FPS genre this is the best game out there atm and i've played em all ;)

Downsides - No VOIP, still a few glitches and crashes that need addressing, flag placement on CQ needs to be pushed out more plus more flags added!

Single player = 6/10 Haven't bothered to finish it yet, not bad just nothing special especially compared to Multiplayer

Multi = 9/10 Good variety of map sizes more path options for most maps (so its not just a sniper fest like BFBC2) only needs to intergrate teamwork better - not sure how they would do this but maybe give squads specific objectives eg you join a squad to take out objective in rush or certain points in conquest. Rush = almost perfect muliplayer game just need more cohesive team work.

Graphics = 9.5/10 (needs 3d vision enabled properly but otherwise its the best looking game out there.

Compared to CODMW3 - if you like teamwork with objectives (or just love great graphics) then BF3 if you like small (read tiny compared to BF3) spray and pray maps that are very intense and are onyl really about the k/d ratio then CODMW3

This game is worth every penny and will last you for ages and ages if you are a battlefield fan like me. The only reason i have de-ducted 1 score point from the 10 is because it gets slightly frustrating being constantly hit and killed by mortar's but then that might just be me :D So if your looking for an adrenaline rush with a side order of awesomeness then BF3 is the game to get! I'm a big fan on Battlefield but both Bad Companys and this abomination are not worthy enough to wear the name Battlefield. Everyone who voted 10 have obviously never played real FPS games.

Sure it has its faults, but its the best shooter out there at the min. The crashing problems have not happened to me, maybe due to Nvidia card, i dunno. I love it, and as long as the devs continue to support it, ill continue to do so.

I think BF3 is a good addition to the Battlefield games. It has everything BFBC2 had plus new goodies, such as more vehicle and weapon customization. I also really like that engineers can now carry mines and an RPG, which wasn't possible in some previous BF games (I haven't played them all).

Some people complain that the game now has a lot of "console features", which "suck" on PC. I think this features help people starting to play FPS games and the fact is that all those features, such as vehicle health regen, can be disabled on the server. Hardcore mode is great as there is no health regen, no map, no aim guide when shooting form the hip, etc.

    Pros:
    - Unlocks per weapon / vehicle.
    - 64 players.
    - Team play
    - Everything else.

    Cons:
    - Registration servers were down in EU on the night of release
    - Sometimes a bit laggy, but getting better.

It is certainly the best FPS multiplayer I have ever seen. TONS of unlocks, great maps (some very good designs), variety of vehicles, a good balance between vehicles and infantry. The audio is gorgeous too. Everything feels and looks very realistic in this game. There is a third game mode - Co-op. It includes six very intense missions which you can play with a buddy. It is real fun. I loved the Battlelog too - it is user-friendly, very useful. I loved the game and I am looking forward to the first expansion - Strike at Karkand! Expand

    - Kit unlocks, while fun, again, I feel they went overboard the same issue as with BC2, defibrilators had to be unlocked, leaving you pretty much useless for the first 3 to 5 hours of the game.
    - Map sizes, while Battlefield 3 has been heralded as having some of the biggest maps in the Battlefield franchise, those biggest of maps only seem to utilise about 10% for play area and boundaries.
    - Gameplay/UI features, calling it a true sequel to Battlefield 2 would be considered false, the foundation that Battlefield 2 built on is just not there in Battlefield 3, it comes closer to a Bad Company sequel if anything. The communications rose that has been implemented is rather sloppy, however certain features are not set in stone, and DICE have hinted at certain additions down the track so this particular con does not weigh into my given score.

Ground combat : TANK: although dice does realize that frontal armour is stronger than the side(or back). they've fail to accurately use the "Slope" feature however. if the tank on the higher ground get hit in the slope-armour part. it's suppose to BOUNCE off. not damage it. and for Christ sake, how is it that people can survive from getting hit by the 12.7mm(50.cal) machine-gun ? one shot would've been enough to make an inches size hole in people body

INF:the firefight is very intends because you can constantly die any second. there is also many unlockable that will help you such as flashlight, in which both help you see in the dark and blind people with it. or Laser sight where you can fire more accurately, but with a cost of being spotted more easily. the Gun still feel like a pea shooter however, with little to none recoil and extremly unrealistic accuracy. where you can kill people 500 yards away with pistols (can you hand be that steady?)

AIR:very fun (especially the dogfight) and the introduction of MANPAD sure make chopper whores life miserable. but still enjoyable however(as long as they have IR flare skill equipped).
the jet combat is very fun, but with limited map and weaponry the fun was limited as well.

AA: dice did a lot of change on AA weaponry in this game. the the appearance of MANPAD allow the infantry to engage hostile chopper without much need of air support. and the "Mobile" AA add the tactical approach in both conquest and rush mode. while the anti-air missile does exist in the mobile AA. why is the base AA doesn't have one?. im really getting tired of trying to shoot down a fly size jet. at least give us a flak or something. (lol)

all and all, dice did a great job at the game. the frostbit 2.0 meant that more thing could be blowup. base camping is gone (xD) and you're now given an option to either get back in action or die when being revived. the game isn't perfect but still, good job dice. ;)

There are also some in-game issues. Controls for Choppers and Jets need work and binding controls in general is a bit of a hassle. My only issues with the game are really that you can't cook grenades and at times it will spawn you out in the middle of nowhere when the teammate you try to spawn on died in the process. As far as the game itself... It is GORGEOUS. Even on a modest computer just above minimum specs the game is beautiful. This is the new benchmark for visuals. Persistance is way more like BF2 then the Bad Company series. It's going to take you a while to get to rank 50. 100+ hours if you're a good player. The sound is just perfect. It's almost flawless. Maps are nice and big for the most part and I can't wait for Karkand expansion. I highly prefer team based, squad oriented play over the run and gun style of the competition. BF3's singleplayer might not be the best around the block and hopefully if they have to do it again they will do their own thing instead of copying CODs formula. But what it does have, which is really the important factor is the best multiplayer Shooter to date. Solid mechanics, better gunplay and realism them what the arcady cod became. GOTY for pc multiplayer gaming.

It is sad to see how another game has caught COD aids. Everything seems to be more linear, direct, less strategy, squad combat sucks, I wanted them to bring the commander back from BF2, (battlefield 2 was probablly the best multiplayer FPS ever) or somthing along the lines of chain of command. Who's idea was it to give the assault class a med kit? Its still playable, but it does not deserve what its getting, make no mistake however, this is a quadrillion times better than call of duty BS (call of duty is pretty bad, but the two games are hard to compare) In short, dont buy BF3, buy an earlier battlefield. The multiplayer gameplay and graphics are amazing, the best I have seen in any game, but these are worthless if the game takes 10 tries to join a server, and crashes occur frequently. This game also has the unique ability to "generate" crashes based on calendar dates. Your machine can be sitting idle and one day it would have no crashes, and the next it might generate a cool crash, and some time later, a new unique crash would occur. This program has expanded my computer knowledge by showing me legendary-pokemon-rarity crashes of great magnitudes of awe and amazement. I am truly blessed to witness a failure in such unmatched proportions.

On top of this, the amount of security clearance required to run the game is ridiculous. You must disable antivirus for battlelog to work and lower User Control Settings lowest to stop any potential crashes, and despite all this, the game's ability to generate crashes prevails. I have not spent more time "fixing" a game than this one.

All in all, the game is a good, but before you purchase it, you need to assess your risk. There is a high risk that your machine will not run the game, or will run the game, but crash out frequently. You also run the risk of being hacked (unlikely, but very possible). If your machine runs the game fine, then the game would score a healthy 8-9/10, but if there is any technical difficulties (highly likely), that score would decrease to 0. Weighing into it the probability of technical difficulties, I give a 2.

Multiplayer is where this game shines the most. Apart from some server being laggy, or the dreaded 64-man Metro Conquest, there is only fun to be had. With a myriad of different weapon and gadget unlocks, there is quite a bit of ways you could play each class. I only wish they would've added in-game squad chat for those times where you are stuck with someone you don't know. been playing the series since BF2, this is an awesome addition to the series.
graphics aren't the best but they are good, i think the split console developing is to blame for that.
but the sheer size of the battles on the large maps, and having jets back? niceeeee.
really fun game to play with a few friends.

Then I had problems with optimizing the game due to driver issues, bugs, etc. Then I had all sorts of confusion overwhelm me because of poor integration and navigation, jumping from the Origin client, to the Battlelog website, to game. From what I can tell, many others were having these issues too, and were dinging the game reviews because of it. But I held on, and once I got into the game, I really started to enjoy it. Singleplayer still doesn't hold a candle to multiplayer, so at the end of the day, the multiplayer is so good, I kept coming back for more. It's fun switching up the classes, playing different roles, and upgrading your capabilities. Levels are rock solid in design, and the vehicles make battles feel like real warfare. And really, that's all I care about. Good solid fun... even if it was a serious pain to get this that point. Expand

Whether I am playing alone or with friends, this game has killed time like no other. I've owned the game since its release and have barely noticed the days of playtime that I've already put into it. If you aren't use to FPS controls, they take some getting used to, but the control-design of everything from your soldier, to both air and land vehicles, and even to the way projectiles are affected by gravity are all superb - fluent and intuitive. Minor bugs have popped up here and there, though this is almost always the case with newly released online games and luckily none remotely game breaking (some being nothing but amusing); they are being dealt with and fixed anyway. Recommended for experienced and new gamers alike, please give this one a chance. If you are in the least curious about online gaming, I beseech you to give this game a real chance and just see if you don't enjoy it. Expand

I cant really call myself a cod fan-boy but i am definitely a big fan of the series. Between spending endless hours on youtube and gaming websites, the flaming wars between Cod and bf fanboys caught my attention and it made me wonder what made battlefield so good to be compared to a giant like cod.
Now,I have never played any of the previous battlefield games. I have played 5 minutes of the Bad Company 2 campaign on the PC and the Bad Company demo on the xbox 360. "pssht.. this sucks compared to cod" i said , and never looked back. Until now, Battlefield 3 Beta was doing its rounds when i got a first hand look at what battlefield multiplayer was like. I downloaded the beta and entered the game. Heavily overwhelmed by the sheer size of the maps and the game graphics i was like "oh cool". I ran a few steps and was immediately killed. *rage quit* . A day later i decided to give it another shot, promising myself i wouldn't rage quit. This time i moved around a little bit and very soon it came to my realisation that i was playing this game like i play cod. That was not working, It was difficult to spot enemies and i died before i could do anything else. I couldnt tell the difference between an enemy soldier and my own team-mates .Every kill felt like a reward, even though i ended up killing more of my own troops. I did not play again, till the game was released.
As battlefield 3 released i did not give it much thought because i eagerly waited for the the release of modern warfare 3. On 10th of November i decided that i am going to buy one of the two. Battlefield 3? or modern warfare 3? Here in India , Modern Warfare 3 costs twice of what i paid for battlefield 3 so it kind of helped my decision .i took the leap of faith and I hesitantly bought battlefield 3 . I had bad experiences with this game in the past and i strongly felt it wasn't my kind of game. So before jumping into the multiplayer world i started the campaign. It didn't take me long to finish the game by the end of the campaign i was said to myself "ho-hum Great looking game but quite a weak directive on the story" . And here is where it all got better, I wasn't expecting a whole lot Indian players to be online but i knew i would get fairly decent pings on other asian servers, but i was surprised that every server hosted in India was full and the ping never rose above 30. I jumped into the multiplayer and found it surprisingly easy to spot enemies , use my guns, and overall move around the place.
It became clear that the campaign for battlefield 3 is nothing but an extended tutorial to get used to the game. My brother and me were at the game for hours. The more we ranked and unlocked equipment the deeper into the game we got , everything that was wierd at first began to make sense and fianally i knew how it feels to play a battlefield game....'Awesome". The Graphics simply blew me away. I assembled a high end PC (complete with a GTX 580) and to be honest this is the best looking first person shooter i have ever seen.
the audio and sfx blend in perfectly with the game. The Environment is beautiful and the fact that you can blow up just about anything you see in game is the icing.
But, these are the not the factors that define a good game. Tons of games look and sound great but the key ingredient is the gameplay and Battlefield 3 has loads of it. The team-based gameplay is something new to me and i am thoroughly enjoying it. Watching buildings collapse, seeing your teammates running through the crossfire to revive team-mates or seeing an engineer hard at work at fixing the tank taking heavy fire from the opposition while helicopter and jets scream past overhead amidst the smoke caused by the falling debris really makes you feel like you are part of something big.
Battlefield 3 has been made to take the crown of war based gameplay from call of duty. With the release of modern warfare 3 on its ageing engine and its tried and tested linear twitched based gameplay , Gamers will feel cheated and move on to a new avenue looking for and upgraded mature gameplay eventually migrating to the battlefield camp. Dice has managed to not only surpass but dominate as a better game be it visually or gameplay-wise.
I give this game a 9/10 because dice has made a real winner i take away one point for its campaign which could have been a lot better.I predict this game to be the next counterstrike with a similar cult following.

The single player and coop are nothing compared to the original sp and coop of the series. They do little to prepare you for the actual mp gameplay. While they do demonstrate the capabilities of the game, they are a very poor cousin of the original game modes.
It is much more closer to the Bad Company series and even carries all of the unresolved bugs of the Bad Company series. It's a good game - sure, but that's a let down when an epic game was expected.

This year...I haven't bought CoD yet (gonna get it tommorow) but I'm pretty sure CoD will crush Battlefield 3 (it's only my subjective opinion).
Graphics are really good, physics too but where is this revolution that trailers promised us? Oh there isn't any, it's just improved BC 2. Shame on you EA. But still I think the look of this game is in fact it's strongest point.
Next audio, BF 3 lack any good music but everybody propably listen to their own music while playing. Guns, explosions and other sounds are very realistic.
Now lets get to the point of my review, the things I hate about this new BF.
The gameplay. ALL THE TIME YOU ARE EXPERIENCING BACK SHOTS, SPAWN KILLS, THERE ARE STUPID MORTARS THAT KEEP SPAMMING YOU FORCING YOU TO GO BACK SHOOTING. Yeah I know the game tries to be realistic but here's my theory: There is a line of realism in shooters that can't be crossed. You can make guns powerfull killing you in 2 hits, you can make it all very realistic but you won't change one thing. In real combat people feel fear. They won't go berserking at a group of enemies hoping to get a frag or two and then die, they won't leave their teammates to try go backshooting behind the enemy line. But in BF 3 you respawn in few seconds so it's all risky but worth a try. This game is no exception, but in BC 2 this problem wasn't so big. Here there is no front line or anything like this, you can die from a headshot from the back any second. That's very very dumb and spoling the fun.
Next thing is improving your soldier's gear. WHat the **** Seriously, you can't choose your upgrades. You just play for hours to unlock them to every single weapon, and when u unlock new one you have to use unmodified one and keep dying. This is really retarted. I don't recommend this game to anyone, unless you are more about graphics. And one more thing, it's said that BF 3 is all about startegy and team play. Well there is none, it's just chaos and everybody doing as they please. The in-game quick voice chat as well as normal chat are completly broken and nearly impossible to use, there is no voice chat (with mics). I don't know why it's so ****ed up but it's imho worse than BC 2. Buy CoD. Thank you.

These are: Can't seem to get the graphics the same as the adverts! Everything is on highest with a DX11 card, yet it still doesn't look as good as supposed in game footage (from the alpha albeit)

Quite a few bugs, such as people sinking into the ground and being able to snipe without threat of retaliation........

My biggest grievance is the random disconnections! I have scoured many a forum looking for the answer to this, but every fix doesn't seem to work for me. I don't think its a problem with ISP so going to just hang back for a patch.

After seeing the awesome trailers, I was pumped for a game that gets away from the "arcade-like" shooters of cod and more into a realistic type battleground with teamwork and strategy. The graphics looked amazing in the trailers and this was pretty much the only game I have been looking forward to all year.

The game delivered the awesome visuals that it promised and, despite not normally being a "campaign guy", I found myself enjoying the campaign very much (despite the trite "Russians + nukes" plot that is so overplayed these days). The campaign did give a unique twist which I liked with the friendly fire shooting (those that have played it know what I'm talking about) and the Russian teaming up with you. That gave it a really awesome gritty feeling which most fps's don't really exude. The multiplayer is even better. Pretty much any size game (up to 64 players), map, vehicle choice, weapon choice, etc. Besides the annoying teammates that steal the aircraft and instantly crash them, I can't really find many faults with the game play. The game is downright fantastic. The visuals are the best that any video game has ever delivered and blowing up C4 or getting a long range head shot gives a much more satisfying feeling than COD has ever given me. Blowing up walls or buildings to kill those pesky campers is as satisfying as a video game can deliver.

That's the good part. As far as the game itself goes, it's excellent. The bad part of this game is virtually everything else. I bought this game on day one and only yesterday did I finish ironing out the issues to get it to run stably. I couldn't even get past the "Operation Guillotine" level until then (despite having a brand new ~$2,000 system). This game has been a nightmare to get to run properly and has come with loads of unwanted "extras".

Origin is basically a useless program that you have to install which does nothing for the gamer (in most circumstances). As far as I can tell, it's an extra program to get in between you and gaming that you have to load each time you want to play. It seems like Dice didn't want to deal with steam so they made a new one called Origin that nobody wanted but they did just so that when they come out with new maps, they can get more money (we'll have to wait and see on this theory as it's too early to tell).

Then you have to load a browser to play, even if all you're doing is campaign mode. So you have not one, not two but three programs running just to play a single player mission. Origin, browser, bf3. That's a hassle but whatever. Then there are posts going around the internet about Origin collecting your personal information and sending it back to EA. Even that doesn't really bother me as I don't really have anything on this new computer that is worth thinking about.

By far my biggest complaint about this game is the stability. Laughably horrendous isn't a strong enough term. When I first got it, the campaign froze up on me and crashed the whole thing countless times. There were times when I got to a specific spot on a level and it would crash until after trying it 5 to 10 times, I finally got through. That is until Operation Guillotine came around and I simply couldn't get through.

It turns out that any (or at least some) graphics cards that were overclocked by the manufacturer would cause all these issues. It took me a month or so to realize that little bit so I turned down the factory overclock and boom, it works. That is, after a motherboard bios flash as well. So here it is, about a month and three weeks later that I can finally play my game, crash free. That is with the graphics card slowed down. Oh and my temps never got above the 60's (degrees C) even while hours of gaming and other multi tasking but still, the game crashes if my clock speeds were set on the stock OC so it is clearly not a system problem but a game one.

This awesome game was almost completely ruined for me because of all the issues that it came along with. Thankfully I stuck with it and now I have an awesome game but as far as the rating goes, those issues will be costly as they should be. Dice will not have my support on their future endeavors if they keep jerking around the customers (even if their games are awesome).

Some other (relatively) minor gripes I have are: No native in game voice chat, the text box is annoyingly placed, huge and immovable (major suckyness), the required clock speed reduction for stock oc'd cards, Dice's lack of information about how to get it to run well, and all the things listed above.

In conclusion, the game is amazing. Get it to run right on your rig and you should love it. There isn't a better looking, better playing game out there. Everything else sucks. Origin, browser loads, stability, chat box, no in game voice chat, etc. Wait a while, then get it.

Battlefield 3 is simply the most realistic multiplayer experience of this generation. While it suffers from graphical glitches and the use of Battlelog, it still provides enough to be considered one of the best games this year. While it suffers from graphical glitches and the use of Battlelog, it still provides enough to be considered one of the best games this year. The singleplayer is clearly not the main event here, but it isn't as bad as many other reviewers say. It's far more realistic than Call of Duty, but it does not provide anything groundbreaking. That's fine though, as there really isn't much you can do to innovate a military shooter's campaign than to make it more realistic in terms of AI, environmental effects, and character physics. It's silly, because certain games dubbed "single player only games" can get away without having multiplayer, so it should only be fair to let multiplayer-based games get away with that too. Including a single player that isn't horrible should be considered a nice addition rather than a piece of garbage. The multiplayer, being the main attraction here, is clearly in a league of its own. The multiplayer features dynamic environments that can completely affect the way you play the game. For example, the sun in your eyes could prevent you from getting a kill, just like in reality, or hiding behind a thin wall may provide dangerous, as it can crumble at the hands of gunfire or explosives, leading to your demise. The weapon customization is moderately deep, which is a huge improvement over anyone who has been playing the Bad Company series. There are plenty of awards and unlocks to keep you coming back for more as well. One of the most appealing features of this game is the realism in the physics. Your gun has recoil (Call of Duty fans should google the definition), you can't just "sprint" up ladders, wind keeps your parachute from descending in a straight line, bright lights can blind you, the list goes on and on. This is a game designed with realism in mind and is not intended for fans of arcade shooters (Halo, Call of Duty, etc). Also, as it should be obviously apparent, the game has the best graphics in the business.

The flaws are certainly not burdensome to the point where the game is ruined, as I gave it a 9, but they do keep it from being a perfect game. Battlelog was clearly an idea that should have never left the drawing board and there are too many graphical glitches that keep the multiplayer experience from being exceptionally sharp. Other than that, Battlefield 3 is a great game and certainly wins the "war" against a non-improving Call of Duty MW3.

The detail it the maps and weapons and tanks and enviroment is mind blowing for a FPS, that sought of detail you see in The Edler Scrolls games, not FPS games. But all I can say is that the Multiplayer will leave you feeling like you have accomplished something amazing after each match. The map designs are good. You don't spawn on your enemies shoulders at all. Honestly, I can describe how good this game is untill you play it. Its The Elder Scrolls Skyrim of FPS games. Just bloody amazingly fun. Great amount of maps at launch, doesn't have as many game modes as Call of Duty, but the games modes for Battlefield 3 are simply non stop fun. Single player is great, crap story but strong gameplay. The game looks and plays great. There are some issues, but there seems to be with any of the releases these day. They'll get addressed after a patch cycle or two. Singleplayer: So singleplayer has never really been DICES strong point but they still manage to provide an enjoyable experience. Even though you can't topple as many buildings on your foes as you might like to driving a tank and reigning death in a fighter jet sure makes up for it. Overall singleplayer is an enjoyable that experience that for once has the Russians being on the good side!

Multiplayer: Lets face it this is why you bought Battlefield 3 and to be perfectly honest it's worth every single cent! Whether your a grunt leading the charge to assault the enemy with your M16 or the tank providing valuable heavy weapons support and toppling those pesky buildings with the MCOM stations inside. Battlefield 3's multiplayer has something for everyone. Unlike most other multiplayer focused games *cough* MW3 *cough* Battlefield relies on teamwork, whether its reviving your teammates to keep the ticket counter high or storming capture point B in Operation Metro teamwork is essential for success, no one man armies to be found here.

Other: Being a game as big as this means that glitches and problems are often found, you can still find the odd leg coming out of the wall, or the person half embedded in the rock, however the real downfall for this game is the crashing problems. This for me personally was only found in the multiplayer section but every 20 - 30mins the game would crash losing all my hard earned exp. however giving time and effort several fixes can be found.

Overall: A very enjoyable experience, singleplayer could be better but lets face it multiplayer more then makes up for it. The only downside to this game are the numerous crashing problems and people unfamiliar with how battlefield 3 is to be played e.g. People flying helicopters with no gunners or passengers. Singleplayer: 6/10, Enjoyable but could have been done better.
Multiplayer: 9/10, What makes a Battlefield game so damn good. Enjoyable through out can easily put hundreds of hours into this gane.

For the most part it is very linear, which makes it lack a depth in the gameplay that I find necessary in this age of games. However, the co-op mode is a great inclusion and I find the co-op missions really fun, all depth returns when you can play missions with a friend - and the fact that the missions have a separate story running throughout and are all completely different scenario's is ideal. And then of course there is the MP, while not a perfect bug free experience it is without a doubt the most robust and statisfying first person shooter experience on any platform. Tonnes of unlocks, tonnes of weapons and vehicles including jets, 64 player combat et all. Alongside that, Battlelog is a great addition, it's in it's fledgling stages at the moment and there are issues but it is greatly powerful and these things are all being addressed by Dice.

Alongside that, because I preordered BF3 (For £30) I am getting Back to Karkand for free, the first DLC, with another 4 maps, 3 vehicles and 10 weapons. All in all, the game is remarkable, while not perfect it undoubtedly deserves a 10 for really stepping up what is expected of you in an FPS.

I'm only going to say two words.

    SIMPLY AWESOME!

If you're looking for the true war, stop searching because this is it. I've never seen a multiplayer game with 64 players, everybody working in squads of four to win the battle, it's really exciting!

The game looks beautiful, the environment is astonishing, the sound is intensifying and things seem to be on a good track. But the gameplay doesn't stick out as much as the predecessors did. Maybe recycling the same style isn't the best approach? We've all seen how **** Modern warfare 3 is. I guess the best part of this game is C4 shenanigans and knife killing.

new engine is pretty cool; and over the game is good; unfortunately you can just tell the console market held it back somewhat; maps design kinda sucks

Graphics are intense, sounds are intense but sadly the game lost most of its defining characteristics as a Battlefield game due to marketing influence. Almost every major change that differentiates this game from its predecessor was made to cater to the console market as well as to those who prefer the more fast paced gaming that usually resides there (as in Call of Duty). Almost every major change that differentiates this game from its predecessor was made to cater to the console market as well as to those who prefer the more fast paced gaming that usually resides there (as in Call of Duty). Auto regenerative health on both soldiers and vehicles, small squads with no real tactical capabilities all lead to a game where everyone is a one man army and who rarely coordinates their actions with the rest of the team. This is even more hindered by the fact that there isn't the same voice chat functionality that existed in Battlefield 2, in fact the game has no voice chat support at all on the PC.

These glaring omissions of core teamwork related components has made a game that is far more like a sequel to Bad Company 2 (BC2), than Battlefield 2 (BF2). This is furthered by the inclusion of Rush mode a BC2 creation, smaller squad sizes (BF2 had 6 man squads, BC2 has 4 man squads) and auto-regenerative health (BC2 had this, BF2 did not).

Other changes seem to cater directly to the console crowd, the heavier grind to unlock weapon attachments by making each weapon unlock separately, auto-regenerative vehicle health, no time out on engineer repairs (in both BC2 and BF2 there was a limit with a small cool down prior to being able to repair again), points awarded for doing little to nothing at all.

The maps also are far more linear and restrictive than typical BF2 maps and the city environments some of the most restrictive with selective destruction and limited usable buildings.

All of this coupled with the Origin and Battlelog requirements makes this game far less appealing than it should be and sadly is one that I returned.

BF3 isn't perfect but they do a great job with this game.
The graphics are awsome on PC, Battlelog ys the best web statistics I ever seen.
Singleplayer are intense and with many moments of adrenaline.
The best of this game is Multiplayer

Nothing really improved. To be honest, think of it as another BF2. Don't get me wrong, the trailers and the hype made the game what it is today, but lets all be serious. Top notch graphics? I disagree, taking a deep look at the graphics, the game is just simply using Battlefield Bad Company 2 graphics. Also, the graphics STILL are similar in the beta. Review:
    The Good
    - Destruction
    - Vehicles - Realism to the max.
    - Animations for everything.

The Bad- Too similar to BFBC2.
    - Patches everytime
    - Cliche scenes and soldiers
    - Little amount of weapons.
    - Graphics are a little too similar to BFBC2
    - Jets and Vehicles
    - Terrible Campaign

However, don't hesitate to buy the game by this review, but, like many players, if you don't want big maps and less lone-wolf status, don't buy it. If you're a veteran, and played BF2 series, this is the game for you.

It's all a matter of taste, after all. They each provide a certain type of entertainment – when talking about Battlefield 3, it involves a bigger game, more open in its possibilities and more spectacular. But on a longer timeline, less frantic and with fewer Bruce Willis scenes than the mass appeal beast it set itself to dethrone.

No, Battlefield 3 is not the best game of today. But good looking – definitely. It also has an absolutely addictive multiplayer. Who needs more? [Dec 2011]

Both a triumphant leap forward and a return to form for the Battlefield series. This is the best multiplayer shooter on PC. [Christmas 2011, p.58]
