Why so many negative reviews? AC Valhalla at least in my opinion is very good AC game. Way better than Odyssey or even Origins.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla has 3 (at least so far) beautifully crafter maps, each one has it's own tone. Voice acting is good, graphics are amazing at times, runs well.

Graphics looks fantastic, stunning beauty of details even for my old ps4. Efect after water scenes are fantastic specially on legendary weapons! Legendary weapons are so awesome specially puzzles and cut scenes for it. Puzzles in this game sometimes made me stop and really think and i love it. I was afraid that there will be so much fighting that i wouldn't have AC feeling but I ended most of game in stealthy mood and those fights. You really can be assassin's creed stealthy guy/girl and fearless Viking in same afternoon! Voice acting for female is fantastic!!!
Story is brilliant, heartbreaking sometimes and serious but ridiculous in same time...
And you explore much more then England and Norway and i was so happy when I found new additions on map and atlas!
I absolutely love settlement addition on ac and this is awesome. Feels really like home. Love npcs and I'm just hoping that you will be able to explore deeper some npc specially one that os in romantic relationship with main characters. I love new version of side quests and find them more enjoyable and fun in this game. I jist love to call my horse and exploring open world even hours after story. I will definitely play DLC for this game!

Darby and his team did it, Assassin's Creed feels like Assassin's Creed again!
Also, the map is really diverse, loot now has meaning and abilities make more sense than in Odyssey. May not be totally like the old games, but it is a step in the right direction and a fun game on its own

This can easily be the best AC game ever. It truly is a masterpiece. Few weak points in this game won't bother the experience.

    +Theme, scenery, musics. Epic.
+Combat; new abilities feels diverged, alive.
+Side quests are not repetitive, all quests are unique.

    -Performance is questionable on pc
    -Combat AI is weak.

Assassins Creed Valhalla is a valiant effort to make a Vikings + Assassins Creed mash up. Takes creative liberties like all games but stays close to reality in some departments. The franchise returns to its roots and without a doubt it is the best of the trilogy.
It starts in a way that motivates you to follow the story but at the end just feel empty, without any resolution. I know this is to continue the franchise and develop more games, but that gripping story feels even useless because it's there just for filling and don't have any impact in the game.

Played the game for 3 hours no problem. Close the game go to sleep (turn off computer, no updates), now it will stay stuck at launch screen. Tried another computer same thing, opens then won't. Think about it like this surprise gift... might work, might not after 70 hours. Literally no support from the developers.

It’s a fine AC game - just much more boring than what I expected after a two year wait. Lots of bugs and crashes. The graphics and designs are quite nice, the world itself is well built.

Poor optimisation? Kidding me? This game runs perfectly fine compared to optimisation nightmare that is Cyberpunk 2077. But difference here is that Ubisoft game's development takes usually 2-3 years, but Cyberpunk 2077 had 8 years to make it good and it still barely runs on high-end videocards.

Comparing the characters to Kassandra for example, they are too much of a lifeless brute, you cannot feel for them. I heard historical accuracy something as an argument but that is completely BS from Ubisoft when you think about how much SF is in the game. The world is too boring, you don't find very interesting characters along the way, there are too many "secrets" that you are taunted to discover just to see a bunch of resources and too many skill points and a big skill point tree that can get hard to follow. The "puzzles" are extremely repetitive too and one of the worst things of all is how meaningless assassinating an order member is. Most of the times you can find order members just going about their life totally unprotected and they are so easy to kill that you can do it by shooting an arrow at them while running. In their purgatory style confrontation they give you the usual generic remark about how good they feel that they did something important. I haven't finished the game yet but I have covered about 75% of the zones. I still hope that it can deliver the wow/wtf moment.
The only positive thing is that you get to see some cool medieval scenery if you are a sucker for that like me.

After the first couple of hours with a smooth transfer between animations and cinematic gameplay in a setting that looks interesting even despite the fact that for the past 5 years everything seems to be about Norse history and mythology, everything suddenly changes into a painfully boring routine of filler story arcs with the main story being present only for a few minutes after you finish one of them, before you start another, and from the half of the game not even that anymore.

Valhalla is an awfully lengthy game with a progressive reduction in quality of just about everything the more time you spend with it, making it feel like your favorite sitcom that turned to trash after 5 seasons, but you still put up with it because of how much time you've already spent watching it.
I was glad that Ubisoft at least improves their reskinned sequels, because Watch Dogs 2, Odyssey, and even The Division 2 turned out to be solid games, where the developers learned from their mistakes, but somehow it's not the case anymore, and I have no explanation why these third installments using the same formula are failing again in even those aspects and mechanics that were already fixed.

The story was rich and deep and I loved the hallucinations of the other world Bayek had. The story had meaning and direction and felt very original as a refresh to the AC Franchise. So when Odyssey came out I was so excited I was hoping for more of the same on a different package but was disappointed its not that Odyssey is a bad game same like Valhalla it just feels like its lacking in many aspects that Origin's did so well almost like a step back in many ways in trying different formulas instead of sticking to what worked. Valhalla is the same as Odyssey and Origins in that aspect. The game feels like it lacks something. 12 hours in and the world feels bland and empty unlike Origin's the combat feels repetitive, worse than the last 2. The story is stronger than Odyssey but it has no depth. Overall is a good time waster game looks decent but this shouldn't have been called Assassin's Creed game, Ubisoft should have just made a different game based on Vikings because this really doesn't feel anything at all Like and Assassin's Creed game. The exploration can become very repetitive - find house, find crack in wall, shoot lock from door, enter house, find chest, repeat. This certainly takes away from the immersion when you are in the middle of a raid/battle and have to take a quick pause to solve a mini "puzzle". These puzzles being trickier and less frequent would have been welcomed, stick to kicking doors off during raids and battles and leave the puzzles for sneak elements of the game.

Visiting establishments outside of quests feels quite empty and hollow, further the game has taken the realistic approach to England for the time period (small wood and dirt establishments with the occasional impressive cathedral). The usual ubisoft coins & helix credit cash grab are present.

Suggest waiting for the price to drop and patches to be released.

Cyberpunk is nothing new or nothing special anyway. It's literally mixture of Skyrim and GTA V, absolute wannabe with worse world details than GTA 4 from 2008.
I'm extremely disappointed in Cyberpunk 2077 PS4 (PC as well) performance and bugs and very soon millions of other people will be as well. Cyberpunk fanboys always whined about other games when they had any bugs at launch and acted like "Cyberpunk 2077 will be this "Absolute Next-Gen miracle". It's time for reality check i guess. Let's start with pros - the game looks gorgeous and most of the time runs nicely. I also really like these small eyeball movements and facial expressions of the main characters (others dont have any expressions so such things like screaming only comes to opening mouth for them). But that's all.
Now for the cons - The game been crashing for me everyday at least once dropping me back to the desktop. If i were lucky enough to play for some time, sooner or later i came onto some kind of bug or error that blocked the progress - NPC i should be following stands like a statue, script didn't triggers even tho i am in a correct possition, or Quest started without it's objective and i couldn't end it (the one with the barrier). That alone had a massive impact on my enjoyment with the game.
Next up - Plot. The game's being set in RPG genre. Yes Eivor is cool and easy to identify with but the whole story is boring and unnecessarily stretched out. Not a single decision has a impact on story. Everything comes to go to point X and kill bunch of NPC's - all the time. Eivor is a viking right? Forget about sneaking then. Ubisoft was promising 'getting back to the roots of the series' with sneaking within monks - yes you can actually do it. Is there a reason you should do it for? Not at all. 99% of the time you have to use violence (call your crew and raid the place) in order to open up a way to your goal. All this 'assassin's vs templars' plot could be easly removed from the game and nothing would happen.
The whole 'settlement' thing also does very little for the game. I only returned there whenever the main story ordered me to do so. Of course you can upgrade the gear there (that also has very little impact for the game - you can literarlly go with your starting eq and you'll be fine) or give back gathered collectibles in return for more minningless items.
Birds fly with 15 FPS (even if you're right next to them) witch makes them look hillarious.
Sounds are compressed 'to save up some disk space' but they sound just awfully. I also can't remember a single musical background.
The game is clearly designed to take at least 50 hours if you rush it, so that the regular player will have to buy at least two months of ubisoft+ to finish it. In my honest opinion - less hours but better narration or gameplay is worth more than gigantic world filled with boring activities.
It doesn't deserve more than 7. It's an okay game but nothing besides that - not a good Assassin's Creed game nor a game about Vikings.

Thank god i found Gamespot review for Cyberpunk 2077, they literally gave Cyberpunk 2077 lower score than Valhalla. Cyberpunk must be really buggy, because 7/10 is pretty low score for game that has been in development over 7 years. So as of right now i bought Valhalla and so far it's pretty nice. Why lower metascore from 84 to 83? This is clearly in every possible way better game than Origins. Well whatever i guess, fact remains that this is better than Origins and everyone knows that. 83 or 84 doesn't really matter. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I have played 102 hours as of writing this review.
Valhalla is a good game, it is fun and fantastic to explore.
The story is non existent , you go to each area that you pledge and you play out many short stories, and depending on what you do or where you go effects the outcome of your exchange with NPCs.
and for no real reason the Assassin which is guiding and helping you for 2% of the story who is supposed to be important TURNS ON YOU, there felt like there was zero explanation as to why other than he is the rebirth of Loki who is still holding a grudge against Eivor and Sigurd for holding his wolf son captive when they were gods who for some reason are reincarnated?, it felt lazy.
this has to be the buggiest AC game I have ever played, I had to increase my VRam to fix the constant crashing.
The town you build isn't much of a wow factor and felt kinda pointless, I feel it was overhyped with very little pay off.
The order of the ancients and the assassin's felt pointless, The order apart from Fulke felt like something of a side quest, and the Assassin's who were the excuse to bring back the hidden blade begrudgingly via Sigurd, and tell you much of what you already knew.
Going to Asgard felt like a chore, everything was, go and get this then go and get that, then they threw in a boss to take away from the scavenger hunt that is Asgard, then to go back to Asgard ANOTHER SCAVENGER HUNT.

I know I am ranting and seem like I hated this game, but bare with me, with 102 hours played and every bit of story done, I left the game feeling like I didn't really play it, I felt like I went into side quest simulator and everything including the main story was a side quest.

The dual wield any weapon annoyed me a lot, you only get a few weapons and it's not a huge variety, you can buy the same 6 or so weapons and shields from the shop in game, and it is the same thing in every shop, making going to a new area thinking you may find a cooler bow a pointless endeavour, so if you like using axes and shields then this will fit you nicely, I was looking forward to going back to the Edward Kenway days and dual wielding me some swords, NOPE, you get two greatswords, one which you buy the other which is in a chest, Excalibur is in the game too but being that you can only really get hold of it end game I never saw the point in even trying to get it, you have completed the game why would I want a bad ass sword now?
getting money was easy and when you buy your favourite colour horse and upgraded it as much as you could, there was not much point in silver anymore unless you wanted to buy the things rather than find them in the world such as ingots. but it was so easy to get your health up and arrows are literally everywhere.

anyway I found that to be my biggest gripe with ACV.
Visually the game is amazing and when you self fix the game it plays amazing with high FPS, the fighting system is the best and the skill tree was a great change, making the weapons not all powerful flaming death monsters was great to me as the previous two games it felt a bit silly to have swords that set people on fire or explosive super saiyen techniques.
The map was amazing to explore and the game Orlog was addictive as anything (looking forward to the real life release of the game in 2021)

I have played every AC game and I am one of the first to defend them, this is the lowest scoring AC game I have ever reviewed, I want to blame Covid-19 and the difficulty you would expect with developers working from home and it is why no matter how much the game was not my favourite it still gave me much enjoyment.

When you start in England the game was a lot of fun, combat keeps you engaged with different possibilities to complete quests and the game offers a vast world with lots to do. The core game-play is not surprisingly your typical Ubisoft grind, after 70 hrs the game became quite repetitive and by 100 hrs I just wanted it to end.

The game has some serious frustrating bugs and hindering to progress, for example you are forced to play these (in my opinion) boring mini-games to progress the secret order chain (thankfully nothing a homemade trainer wouldn’t fix), and I had to do a few earlier reloads because the game got literally stuck in the story.

As for side quest, I couldn't stand the Aasgard side-quest, thankfully it was just a side-quest, and I’m not sure why they decided to make 'eliminating the ancient order' a side quest. It baffles me that eliminating the order is not part of the main story, ‘Assassin's creed' is just a corporate branding at this point.

The story itself was short and empty, watching our character go from the typical AC childhood to adult, but this time in about 2 minutes flat. The game crashes every 5 minutes. It's literally unplayable for me, and from what I've read, I'm not alone. You can't mark anything with your raven, hitting a crate to loot it is more difficult than actual combat - and these are all issues from playing for only half an hour before my game crashed for the first time. Now it crashes every 5 minutes.

It is extremely obvious they rushed this out to market before Cyberpunk released. Ubisoft is known for releasing rushed, buggy games, but this - this makes all previous Ubi games look like polished diamonds. I'll echo something I've seen others say as well: with the graphics, story, and polish, Valhalla looks like it came out of 2010. Calling it mediocre would be a compliment - hell, I wish I could play long enough to come to that conclusion.

TL;DR: Even almost a month after release, the game is unplayable, and what *is* playable is extremely disappointing. I would get a refund if Ubisoft's refund policy didn't exclude games "that have been launched", and everyone who has ever played an Ubisoft game on launch day knows that's insanity.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is the third game in what I like to call the “Ancient” trilogy, because it really makes sense, after Origins and Odyssey.

The core aspects and mechanics from the previous games are here, some stuff has been changed though, like the “RPG’ish” loot system from the previous games now it’s a more concise system where each weapon, piece of armor, shield, etc. now has a bit more of “personality”, as in we’re not showered by loot all the time now, as we used to before.

This has been paired with yet another upgrade system, where we can bring most items that we like using, because we like their stats, or their visual art or design, to higher tiers of quality, by using the materials like minerals and ingots we loot from chests and other places around the world. Most items will also change in appearance as they go from “bronze” tier, the basic one, to “silver” and finally “gold”, note that the actual names are different but I’m just using these as the color of the item box is actually these.

Furthermore, for gear pieces we can wear, we can find lots of sets, of five pieces, that provide a two piece and also a five piece, complete, set bonus. You can mix and match if you like, but of course there are obvious limitations, if you want a five piece bonus set, you want to find that complete set. Worry not, as finding these isn’t hard at all, each item description from the set tells us where to find all the pieces (just the region, though), it’s just a matter of wanting to explore the world and, trust me, you’ll want to explore the beautiful world in this game, it looks really amazing.

When it comes to combat, it feels a bit more meaty and vicious than previous games, the violence levels have clearly been increased, to reflect that we are, in fact, Vikings. It looks nice, some finishers are really flashy, but sometimes the combat itself can feel a bit slow and not as polished as it could have been, but not terrible. If you enjoyed the combat in the previous two games, you’ll enjoy this one, but I would say that Odyssey had slightly better combat, and in Valhalla it’s a bit more leaning towards Origins, but also not quite the same.

When it comes to PC performance, on my Ryzen 5 3600 and GTX 1070, the game runs slightly worse than Odyssey, but it looks quite good, even better I’d say, with lots of beautiful vistas, vegetation, and the view distance is not bad at all, it’s very similar in this regard to the previous games, you can see important landmarks from basically anywhere in the region you’re in and, of course, travel to them if you wish.

Running at Ultra settings, 1080p, no resolution scaling, the benchmark provides around 49-50 FPS as of Title Update 1.0.4; it has gotten a bit better/smoother with this patch, and possibly more patches coming soon, could improve things even more. We don’t need to play at Ultra though, especially not on a four year old GPU, so dropping some settings to Very High or High improves things around 10%, and with the Adaptive Quality set to target 60 FPS, the can sustain 60 FPS quite often, only dropping in heavy situations like monastery raids, but not by much. Paired with a g-sync screen, it’s not as bad , but certainly the game is more GPU demanding than the previous ones, for sure, so keep that in mind.

And when it comes to the story, we get quite the surprises and exotic places to visit that, if you know your Viking Mythology, you’ll surely enjoy as much as I did. The real world storyline continues where it left, more or less, and we also get some huge plot twists and developments there, setting up the future of the series, of course.

Secondary activities have been changed a bit, and some of them look like very short stories, quite easy and fast to complete, some have a lot of heart and fun interactions, but others feel like some random mmo quest or event, it was a mixed bag there, a little bit. I can see Ubisoft trying to improve on their writing for these activities, sure, they’re still not there yet, but it seems they’re at least on the right path, and there’s a lot of lore that this game touches, from the whole franchise, which gives me a lot of hope and kind of exciting for future games too.

All in all, AC Valhalla is not a perfect game, but after 150 hours and having completed all the challenges, except the fishing one (I’m taking my time, chilling, come on, I earnt it :P), and the one to avenge other players’ deaths, which seems completely bugged on PC, due to servers/connection shenanigans (possibly to do with the switch to Uplay Connect recently)….well I can say that I had a decent time. The game is long, especially if, like me, you’re a completionist, but that’s how it is in these cases.

I feel Ubisoft is coming back to the decent story telling for the series, the writers did a good job here, and I'm excited for where it goes next.

Ubisoft don't listen these fake fans who claim that they are fans, but at the same time they sht on every game you release. Listen to your real fans. I have supported and been fan of Assassin's Creed series since 2013 and i like almost every game in this series, Odyssey was mistake, but everything else has been good. More of this and please keep improving Valhalla, thank you.

Played AC 1/2 and lost interest in the series. Tries a couple times to come back and just didn't like the gameplay anymore. AC: VAL maybe should have just taken on it's own title but the tie in to the AC series adds a little bit to an amazing game. It's been a long time since I could enjoy sinking my teeth into 100+ single player and still want more.

Better than last two games. I bet people leave their hate comments on PS4 version because they think it matters most? No it doesn't, in fact it matter least. Not that this user score matters much, because for example RDR2 PC version has user score 5.6/10 and it's extremely popular game. But i just can't stand people who leave fake low scores, so i just made this account to support this game with 10/10. I have played about 20 hours and it's easy 8.5/10 game to me anyway, so it's not like i'm overhyping it. It's good anyway. I like RDR 1 way more. But in Valhalla there's always something to do or explore. Wanna do something else than main story? There's so many fake accounts on this site who claim that they played it and then they have like one review and they give 0/10 score without saying actually anything about this game. I'm hardcore gamer and i play all kinds of stuff, i play Grand Theft Auto games, i Play Final Fantasy, Doom, etc. I'm pretty harsh on games, so if something is actually bad i'm going to say, for example Marvel's Avenger's is absolute trash, so there's that. Here's my honest. But Valhalla is good game and i'm really enjoying it and that's also my honesty. So these fake review's with their 0/10's are really disgusting actually because they are trying to mislead other people with their lies. There's 100's of hours gameplay footage on youtube and most of these videos has from 10 000 to 100 000's of views and thousands of likes, so people are very clearly liking this game. Every "weapons guide" video gets 10 000's of views and likes. This "Cash Shop" is absolutely meaningless, it's very obvious that you haven't even played the game. I'm 60+ hours in the game and there's absolutely no grind, xp and levels come extremely easily.
Stop you nonsense, because it's just too obvious you are just pathetic hater. I looked at your profile and looks like you gave Red Dead Redemption 2 - 0/10? Basically says it all.

I enjoyed Odyssey more. There was too much traveling in this, the annoying kind, the river crossing are the worst, your long ship is just a glorified horse.

The combat was meh, half the time you end up hitting your own guys in a raid. finishes are buggy, frequently the animation takes place in the air instead of on your opponents body. I don't even know how many skill points i need to

I don't even know how many skill points i need to get any skills i want. No idea why the decided to hide the skill tree. Having to find skills is also just a waste of time, until then your combat is dodge/parry then fast hit/slow hit. I have yet to see another weapon. I get Odyssey had too much equipment, but this is opposite, why its hard to moderate is beyond me.

no mini map sucks as well, half the time you will end up pressing select and going to world map.
The story is not engrossing (probably because of all the traveling), i struggled playing even an hour straight. over the past 5 days i ended up playing about 4 hours. too bad i cant return it anymore. for reference, i have put about 150 hours into Odyssey.

Recommendation: buy it if it sells for $20, you can kill some time that way.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. the most buggy game I've ever seen. Beginning For some kind of asexual being and then choosing the gender (male), I remained the same creature. I didn't even understand it should be so or not. Open world: boring but beautiful. The only thing you can do is just kiss the other man's and capture villages where sometimes my partners ran to the roosters and did not leave from there. it strained. and sometimes my allies arranged marriage carousels with opponents grappling and spinning around. character: womens leashes and with him They are treated like a woman and he can kiss a man himself. Is the tribal leader a WOMAN? What the **** Ubisoft when the tribal leader was a woman. feminism is already quite ahuel. The clouds are flickering with the **** in this world. boats are spinning in the air, fighting scenes seem to be cool and it seems like only 3 animations for finishing moves. though The ax began to feel. In short, this part is too Bad in terms of everything. There are many bugs, historical lies. And the game is too overpriced. I'd better go back to part 2 or 4 black flag of Assassin's creed ... as a result, solid 3 points Expand

All of them have very good soundtracks.
Valhalla is another hit for me, i like almost everything about this game. Of course it needs some improvements and as far i know, next patch is coming Mid-December. Extremely hyped for DLC.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla is a great-looking open-world game with impressive landscapes and cinematography. However, the checklist collectible open-world still needs some work to feel truly engaging, and combat is too tedious and too frequent to be compelling. As a lapsed fan of Assassin's Creed trying to see if I can click with the series once again, Valhalla didn't quite hook me as I was hoping it would.

Assassins Creed Valhalla is a lot of fun and easy to sink dozens of hours into. It is the best entry in the more recent trilogy and genuinely elevates the gameplay mechanics. Content could be considered somewhat bloated still, but it is diverse enough and the setting and story is solid most of the way through.

Sneaking is fun, fighting is fun, walking through the great outdoors is so much fun. Sightseeing too! Valhalla is free minded and could be innovative, but lacks skills to persuade its players about that. [Issue#308]
