There's a lot of stuff you can do in this game, but my favorite might be free roaming with Altair's outfit. I think it's best of last 3 AC's, mostly because i like the setting and time period, way more than Greece for example.

The worst assassin's Creed I've ever played and arguably the worst game I've ever played. Clunky and boring combat, Eivor is incredibly weak no matter how much you power him up and boss/legendary animal fights just consist of the enemy spamming its special the whole time. Next time I'm definitely not paying full price for an assassin's creed game. I'll wait until it goes on sale

Beautiful graphics and great plot. But those boring, long and frequent finishers were more anoying than cool after few hours of playing. But the worst thing is puting another time unnecessary animus thread inside good story, that just destroying immersion. It doesn't make game more elaborate only destroying mood. Please forget about modern day story it's garbage.

Cutscenes are alas not up to AC standard, animations are a bit clunky, and the story (as far as I have seen it) seems a bit lacklustre. But the overall game mechanics and stealth gameplay seem (after 8h of play) to be better than in Odyssey.

There's so many people from past who would have given anything to play these kinds of locations in video game, but they never could, because these types of games didn't exist before year 2007 and that was just the beginning. They would have loved to climb realistic Notre Dame in 1790s Paris (AC Unity) or Pyramids in Egypt (AC Origins). Modern people finally can do that and that's big deal, very big deal. Until Resident Evil Village comes out, it's literally only 2020 game that is still worth playing. Doom Eternal got old very fast and i'm not gonna play Tony Hawk 1+2 Remake 24/7. Cyberpunk 2077 was one of the biggest fails of all time. Resident Evil 3 Remake was too short and boring. Last of Us 2 is one of the worst games ever made. Watch Dogs Legion is pathetic. Final Fantasy VII Remake has no reason to play again, even tho good game. Ghost of Tsushima has one of the worst camera angles in any video game ever, so i just can't play it, but it doesn't seem very interesting anyway. Marvel's Avengers is a joke. Mafia 1 Remake had good story, but has one of the emptiest open-worlds ever, there's absolutely nothing to do or explore.

So what's left? Literally only one game - Assassin's Creed Valhalla! It's not best game ever / not best AC game, but at least it's fun enough and DLC's almost look more interesting than main game, so i'm hyped. There's obviously always option to play older games (i do that literally all the time), but this review is for people who want something new.

It's sad reality that there have been less and less great games in recent years, but it is what it is. So i'm spending most of my time playing old games over and over, but if i want to play something new, AC Valhalla isn't that bad choice. You want to take a break and try some side content? Why of course, here are your low-quality low-effort "world events" that will baffle you by their presentation more often than by their actual content.

And, unlike in Odyssey, this time I'm actually sad about all this. Eivor grew on me immensely in the course of the game, as did the combat system. Raids lost their appeal after about the fifth one I did but still were a welcome distraction from the monotonous story quests. And the world itself is incredible, lush and vibrant in ways not many games can achieve. Too bad, then, that it overstays its welcome for about 10-20 hours (of purely story-related content).

Ubisoft really need to scale down. Valhalla shows that, if their heart is in the right place and the writers actually care about the story, new AC installments can come very close to the legendary ones like AC2, Black Flag and Unity. But as long as they keep making the games more and more bloated and padded with completely arbitrary fluff, aimed at making you skip the grind by buying things at the store to finally FINALLY progress the damn story, they'll stay in this weird limbo of "ah yes, yet another Assassin's Creed game".

CONS: Story become confussing and absurd when near the end (it really doesn't end) + Sometimes the game crashes + Talking with people are often unreal (they aren't watching at you) + In my opinion Valhalla

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Well... I don't know where to start... Oh I do, the game is just not fun. You can have some sensations discovering for few hours but when you see that this edition brings nothing new compared to Odyssey except farming ressources and dull quests to gain tokens to buy different gear that doesn't change anything to combat, well where is the fun ? Plus the game has even more bugs that Odyssey, major bugs that can prevent you from advancing in the "story" if we can say story because if there wasn't any it would not change anything to the game. It's the same thing over and over, go to a land, talk with the same types of npc, kill some guys and repeat. Where you go doesn't matter at all, the feeling is the same. Do I mentioned that we're not even an assassin ? Just a detail in ASSASSIN's creed.
So I can say that the game, when I retry to play and advance, bores me to death. It's just a very lazy move by Ubisoft who delivered a bad Odyssey with a viking and bet that it would be enough to make money and they were right, good for them, bad for the players. If gamers keep praising this type of lazy work (I didn't buy it, it's been offered to me to be clear), that's all we will have in the future and that's pretty sad. Please Ubisoft wake up and try working on your game between 2 editions and it's time once again to rethink your formula for the franchise.

Let alone the buggy mess taht the game was on launch day : several major bugs were preventing gamers from completing the story.

Ubisoft also decided it was a good idea to ad microtransactions to the game after it's launch. ALso changing the level scaling a few months after launch at the same moment aas they launched an XP boost seems a little too convenient.

Stealth is completely useless in this game. Several ressources require you to launch full-blown raids on enemy camps therefore completely anihilating the assassin's way.

Never have ifalt like i've wasted so many hours of my life before. If I knew the game only revolved around a few pivotal cutscenes i would have spared my money and time and just watched a summary online.

I have finished Unity almost each year since 2015. I'm also playing 4 constantly, but i haven't finished it as much, because it's way longer game and i love to just free roam there. Now i would say that despite not liking 1,3, Revalations or Rogue (i hate to play as Templar), i would say that absolutely loving later games like 4, Unity, Syndicate and Origins makes me as much Assassin's Creed fan, as someone who only likes first 3.

In fact, i would say i'm bigger fan than these people, because if someone gave up on this series in 2012, then how can you consider yourself a fan? Maybe early fan, but overall if you hate majority of these games, then you are not fan of this series. It's that simple. Why i'm even talking about it is because watching some youtubers making videos "Valhalla disappointed me", "Valhalla is boring" etc, made it very clear that these people were never gonna like Valhalla anyway. No matter what Ubisoft did, these people wouldn't be happy right now and they would still make their videos whining about smallest details that they didn't like.

Instead of enjoying new games for that they are, instead these people want games to be what they want. That's obviously fair, but again, seems like they have ignored this series since 2012. It was so obvious what Valhalla was going to be. How can you be disappointed, when trailers and Ubisoft people on twitter made it very obvious what this game is going to be. Basically no matter what, these people just wanted Valhalla to be this most basic and boring AC Revalations or AC 3 clone and that's all these people want. That's the only AC game they want and if it's not that, then they are going to hate it. That's the sad reality actual AC fans need to live in, where Ubisoft makes great games, but nostalgic people who can't move on are going to hate these games and make their videos. Main problem with these videos is that these people are very clearly trying to manipulate and make other people believe that this game (and other games) suck. While actually problem is not the game, problem is that they just don't like it. Just cause you don't like something, doesn't mean that it's actually bad ya know?

Conclusion : I very much enjoyed Valhalla, it's not perfect, but it's way better than Odyssey was. Story is more interesting than Odyssey's story. It has beautiful graphics, not as good as RDR 2, but still good enough and very modern looking. Combat is fun, main character (male Eivor) is very likable and better than main characters in Origins and Odyssey.

Here - Assassin's Creed Valhalla fixes all the mistakes Odyssey did and brings back old AC elements like hidden blade, ability to wear hood and social stealth. AC Valhalla has multiple smaller maps (North America, Norway) and one big map (England). Variety of enemies is bigger than ever, over 20 different enemy types.

It's so obvious that you are just some sad loser with your fake account. You have 3 reviews and two of them are just you whining about Ubisoft. Literally every Sony story simulator gets thousands of fake reviews with 10/10 scores. Another example is Cyberpunk 2077 that has over 19 000 positive reviews, most of them are fake double accounts. If you were smart enough, you would understand that Ubisoft could do same with all their games, but they very clearly don't care.

They could fix AC Unity user score in two days if they wanted, but ironically they haven't even tried for past 7 years. They very clearly don't care about this site at all. But you seem to be typical loser who spends all his days on metacritic whining about some games, while other people enjoy these games. How pathetic. I press the appropriate button to smash the crate, only to whiff harder than a 5-year old trying to play T-Ball. That, alone, is just a taste of the frustrations you shall encounter as you adventure across England. Later on in the game, you'll come across barred doors that need to be opened from the inside. You'll do this by destroying what appears to be a wooden beam locking the door from the inside. Simple, right? Not for me! All I hit is the open air and the lock stays in place until I have to pull out my bow. Or, how about the little beeping sound when you are trying to jump off a rock and the game won't let you? And let's talk about that camera with a mind of its own. Try calling your mount, and see what I'm talking about. Oh, and it's a joy when Eivor is telling his crew the STFU every time you come across a raid opportunity. Not to mention how often the longship would get hung up on the environment and I'd have to manually reverse course to continue on my way.

It's not all annoyances and frustrations. The world is massive and beautiful. The missions are engaging and well written. The voice acting is excellent, and the music is exquisite! I also appreciate how the game encourages exploration.

So, how would I rate AC: Valhalla over the course of my 100+ hour playtime? 51% fun/49% frustration! Would I recommend this title? Sure, just not at full price. Wait until all the DLC comes out and you can nab the whole package in a future Ubisoft sale or around $50!

Make no mistake, Valhalla is a worthy successor to its distinguished predecessors: it has adventure, fun, and all the freedom one could wish. It generally runs well, though I have had a few mysterious crashes.

The biggest problem is the load time: I start the game several times a day (because I don't like to leave stuff idling in the background, especially stuff that's connecting my system to the Internet). Each start takes 2'30"... unless it crashes, in which case it's 5'. That's five minutes of staring at screen after screen of logos, boilerplate warnings, advice, and other nonsense. Yes, I get the reason to expose naive users to this stuff, but not every time! The previous games allowed me to Esc or "hit any key" to fast-forward. This one, no. Eivor voice covers every other sound in the stage and it's louder then everyone else's. These are not bugs to be fixed, it's just the way the game's sound engine has been created, more like the ones in games from 20 years ago.
I have nothing to complain about graphics, they are ok, there is also a fake HDR and overall the performance is similar to Odiseey.
The gameplay however is plain and dull, repetitive, doing the same raids over and over to gather resources which is so boring. Ubisoft managed to peak at Odiseey and I thought that Valhalla can at least be at that level, but no, it's a much worse game in every way. Too bad I payed for it. Ubisoft is dead for me with this one. I'll never buy another game from them from now on.

Valhalla is great, but i feel like it will be last Assassin's Creed game i will ever play. Because according to recent leaks, they will go back to AC1 style with next game and i'm not interested. Progress was one of the things that kept me with this series, Black Flag had huge world to explore in 2013, Paris looked absolutely stunning in 2014, Syndicate wasn't perfect, but London was still really nice location, Origins was even bigger game and obvious next step, while Valhalla perfected flaws of Origins and Odyssey. I really hope these leaks are not true, but if they are, i refuse to buy or support this next game. If they really go back to AC1-AC3 style then i'm done with this series and as of right now that seems to be the case. I'm almost certain that these awful leaks are true and they really do that. It' sad, but nothing lasts forever i guess. All i have to say that, thank you Ubisoft for these amazing games and this series once meant to me A LOT. Expand

Very underrated game. Better than Origins, it has more likable characters and generally more interesting open world.

Generally very enjoyable game. Negatives? some bugs. But 4 big maps, long story and beautiful graphics make up for it.

Valhalla is here to stay! It's easily better than Odyssey and even Origins. I still like Black Flag more, but Black Flag is top tier game and i was never expecting Valhalla to be better than that. I hope i'm wrong tho, but that's exactly what those people on youtube want. They are minority, but they are constantly annoying Ubisoft that "new games bad, old games good" and i'm afraid Ubisoft might actually listen them. Of course i hope i'm wrong, but if not, i refuse to support or play next AC game. Basically if next game will be like ac 1 or revelations, to me this series is dead. If it's like black flag or even Unity, i would be fine with it, because Unity already had tons of customization options and rpg elements, it also had better parkour than any of the older games. So that would be fine. Expand

416 negative reviews? Really? People are really that desperate to hate this game? Get a life haters, seriously, this is pathetic. Ironically i'm not even sure what were these haters expecting this game to be? Like...it's better than Odyssey and Origins and it has enough new elements, what else do you want? Sure it wasn't something extremely new, but that doesn't justify 0/10's. I feel like416 negative reviews? Really? People are really that desperate to hate this game? Ubisoft don't listen these haters who whine under every youtube video that Valhalla sucks and "only AC 1 to 3 are good". These people are not your real fans. Only reason i even started caring about AC series was AC 4. Making AC 4 is literally best decision Ubisoft has ever done. I'm so, so, so glad that this Desmond **** went finally away. Reason most people play these games i going back in time, not some modern day nonsense. I wish these games never had modern day, but it is what it is, thankfully AC games got so much better starting with AC 4. AC 3 was just horrible. Ubisoft, you should only listen to your real fans, not this minority who doesn't even care about anything you have done since 2013. They are almost as annoying as people who whine under every resident evil 4 remake video, that they want code veronica remake more. Resident evil 4 is million times better game, more important game and more popular game. These who whine about code veronica are also just small group of people who don't even care about resident evil 4 at all. It's literally same with thing with AC games. I swear Ubisoft, if you go back to this AC1-AC3 nonsense, i will stop buying your games, i will stop promoting your games to my friends and i will never play any of your games ever again. Listen to your real fans. Expand

Okay short review : game is good, better than odyssey. Haters are angry because this game was huge hit so they will leave 0/10 reviews and pretend like it's bad game. People enjoy this game regardless, because nobody cares what some sad haters say. Life goes on. The end.

Positives : One of the best map designs Ubisoft has ever done, Beautiful graphics, Combat is fun with abilities, Story is interesting enough, open world is full of places to explore.
Negatives : You can't craft arrows, no giant squids (at least i haven't found any).

Absolutely amazing AC game. There's absolutely no grind like in Odyssey, if you actually want to play this game. If you want to play it as sony story simulator, then this game is not for you. Highly recommended to people who actually enjoy playing video games!

Ubisoft has made the worst game of the year. And the word "game" is a bit overrated. There isn't anything in this game that works. During 90+ hours in-game and I haven't found anything that works in this game. Also performance is crappy as the game crashes multiple times during playing. At least I got this piece of **** free from MSI. I feel sorry for people who had to pay for this game

Sure it had some bugs and still has some bugs here and there, but overall it was working game from day 1, unlike cyberpunk 2077. I have played Valhalla over 100 hours and half of it might be just walking around and enjoying scenery, this game is really beautiful, but story is also million times better than Odyssey or Origins.

Best of last three without a question. Open World in Valhalla is so much more interesting than Origins or Odyssey. I have both pc and ps4 versions. pc version is better obviously, but ps4 version is still solid enough. You can't expect miracles on 2013 hardware and it's still miles better game than cyberpunk 2077.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla is a great-looking open-world game with impressive landscapes and cinematography. However, the checklist collectible open-world still needs some work to feel truly engaging, and combat is too tedious and too frequent to be compelling. As a lapsed fan of Assassin's Creed trying to see if I can click with the series once again, Valhalla didn't quite hook me as I was hoping it would.

Assassins Creed Valhalla is a lot of fun and easy to sink dozens of hours into. It is the best entry in the more recent trilogy and genuinely elevates the gameplay mechanics. Content could be considered somewhat bloated still, but it is diverse enough and the setting and story is solid most of the way through.

Sneaking is fun, fighting is fun, walking through the great outdoors is so much fun. Sightseeing too! Valhalla is free minded and could be innovative, but lacks skills to persuade its players about that. [Issue#308]
