Without a Trace is a fast-paced procedural drama about the Missing Persons Squad of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The sole responsibility of the special task force is to find missing persons by applying advanced psychological profiling techniques to peel back the layers of the victims' lives and trace their whereabouts in an effort to discover whether they have been abducted, been murdered, committed suicide or simply run away. The team reconstructs a "Day of Disappearance" timeline that details every minute of the 24 hours prior to the disappearance, following one simple rule: learn who the victim is in order to learn where the victim is. Senior agent Jack Malone (Anthony LaPaglia) heads the dedicated team that knows too well that every second counts when someone vanishes. His squad includes Samantha Spade (Poppy Montgomery), an agent who doesn't let her good looks get in the way of being tough; Vivian Johnson (Marianne Jean-Baptiste), a no-nonsense investigator; Danny Taylor (Enrique Murciano), an intense and private agent; and Martin Fitzgerald (Eric Close), the newest member of the team, considered a lightweight by the squad because his only experience involves fighting white-collar crime. In six seasons, much has happened. Martin Fitzgerald is no longer considered the lightweight he once was, having earned the respect of the team through his solid work. Jack Malone has been through many ups and downs and now finds himself in a bad position following the mishandling of a case. Vivian Johnson has proven herself, and a new agent has been welcomed into the ranks -- Elena Delgado (Roselyn Sánchez), a Hispanic female agent who came on in the program's fourth season as the squad faced ever-increasing demands on its time and resources. A former member of the NYPD, she is already known to Danny and their connection grows as the series progresses. Without a Trace aired Thursday nights on CBS from its premiere in 2002 until the 2006-2007 season. CBS moved it to Sunday nights for one season, before moving it back to its regular Thursday slot for season six. The program now airs in its new timeslot of Tuesdays at 10 P.M. Inara is a 'Registered Companion,' most easily described as a high-priced courtesan or geisha. She is also the person with the highest social standing on the ship and acts as the crew's Ambassador. Jayne is the muscle of the crew. A tough, uncultured Mercenary, unpleasant and offensively direct, but loyal to those on his crew...usually. The newcomers are: Simon Tam is the Doctor on Serenity and comes from a wealthy family and has a privileged upbringing. He has spent his life savings and future to save his sister, River. River (aka The Fugitive) was experimented on by the government. Her psychic visions (a result of the experiments) are taken at first as babble by the crew but they slowly come to realize that there's more going on than what shows on the surface. Book or "The Shepherd," is a wise minister who knows far more about military matters and battle tactics than a man of the cloth should, and his past is shrouded in mystery.

Everwood tells the story of a widower, Dr Andy Brown, who leaves his successful job as a top Manhattan neurosurgeon to live in a small Colorado town, bringing his 9-year-old daughter Delia and 15-year-old son Ephram with him. He chooses the town of Everwood because his late wife had told him of her emotional attachment to it. Many of the story lines deal with the conflicts of adjusting to a new setting, as well as getting along with new people. Dr. Brown, simply called Andy most of the time, at first finds some animosity towards Dr. Harold Abbott, with whom his professional opinions differ. However, Dr. Abbott's cranky demeanor and Andy's passive, cheerful attitude prove to mesh well and the two begin a friendly rivalry. Ephram continually struggles with his emerging adolescence, his studies as a classical pianist, and his crush on Amy Abbott, Dr. Abbott's daughter.

Former police detective Adrian Monk (Tony Shalhoub), whose photographic memory and amazing ability to piece together tiny clues made him a local legend, has suffered from intensified obsessive-compulsive disorder and a variety of phobias since the unsolved murder of his wife, Trudy, in 1997. Now on psychiatric leave from the San Francisco Police Department and working as a freelance detective/consultant on difficult cases, Monk hopes to convince his former boss, Captain Leland Stottlemeyer (Ted Levine), to allow him to return to the force. Stottlemeyer, who wavered between admiration for Monk and annoyance at his eccentricities during the first season, becomes more of a friend to Monk as the series develops, frequently calling him in to help, as much for Monk's benefit as for his own. However, he knows Monk's limitations as well as his strengths and still harbor doubts about the wisdom of allowing Monk to carry a gun or subdue a perpetrator. Stottlemeyer's second-in-command, Lieutenant Randall Disher (Jason Gray-Stanford), also develops both admiration and compassion for the man he once labeled "the defective detective." Despite flaws and inadequacies all around, the three become an increasingly effective team, with additional help from Monk's personal assistant. From the double-episode pilot through the first half of season three, Monk was aided by his nurse, Sharona Fleming (Bitty Schram). But in the tenth episode of the third season, Sharona was replaced by a new assistant, Natalie Teeger (Traylor Howard). Like Sharona, a divorcee with a son named Benjy, Natalie is a single parent, a widow with a daughter named Julie (Emmy Clarke). Unlike Sharona, Natalie is not a nurse but a former bartender with a fresh perspective on "Mr. Monk," as she still addresses her new boss.

Smallville tells the tale of a teenage Clark Kent in the days before he was Superman. It is the town where he came from where very strange things started happening with his arrival in a spaceship in the midst of a meteor storm of green rocks. Clark must deal with a variety of individuals given powers by the green rocks, keep his powers a secret, cope with his friendship with a young Lex Luthor, and balance the two girls in his life, Chloe and Lana. The show also shows us how Lex Luthor develops from a friend of Clark's and kinda-okay guy to (presumably) the villain who will plague Superman in his later years.

The sixth season introduced Eric Bogosian as Capt. Danny Ross to replace Jamey Sheridan. There was no replacement for the A.D.A. character. René Balcer, a ten-year veteran of the original Law & Order series, developed Law & Order: Criminal Intent and served as head writer, executive producer and showrunner for the first five seasons. Warren Leight took over as showrunner and executive producer in seasons six and seven. Peter Jankowski and Norberto Barba are also executive producers.

Sydney Bristow was recruited as an undergrad to work for SD-6, which she thought was a government agency. However, when her fiancé is killed by SD-6 agents, she finds out that SD-6 is actually a counter-government agency. Sydney approaches the CIA and becomes a double agent, which means that she goes on SD-6 missions, but passes the information about her missions to her CIA handler, Vaughn. Sydney's father, Jack Bristow, is also an double agent. Both had a distant relationship for years, but their present situation brings them closer together. Sydney and her father spend the first season trying to foil SD-6's missions and preventing them from getting their hands on what they are determined to get. For years SD-6 has fought against FTL and K-Directorate, two crime organizations that are also in the pursue of various artifacts build by the 15th century scientist and prophet, Milo Rambaldi. However, when a new player referred to as "The Man" comes to town, FTL and K-Directorate are put out of business and SD-6 engages in the pursue of this new mysterious opponent. After eliminating SD-6 and all of the other SD cells, Sydney, Marshall, Dixon, Jack, and Vaughn are now fully working for the CIA.

They sometimes find themselves up against the Suliban, an aggressive race that is apart of a faction of the war and given orders by an unknown being from the future. In the second season finale, things take a deadly turn when an alien race named the Xindi attack Earth. With the Xindi preparing another attack and humanity facing destruction, the Enterprise crew have only one option. The third season sees the crew searching the mysterious Delphic Expanse for the Xindi and trying to stop them before their next attack. The fourth season has the crew back home and opening up brand new adventures, one with special guest Brent Spiner. As of season four, T'Pol has officially left the Vulcan High Command and joined Starfleet Command, she has been promoted to Commander.The theme tune for Enterprise is titled "Faith of the Heart", performed by Russell Watson and written by Diane Warren.

CBS premiered the much-hyped new action series on its Friday night lineup, which included fellow action series "Nash Bridges" and newcomer "CSI." Many predicted the new version of "The Fugitive" would become one of CBS's greatest hits, but the show only earned decent ratings for its first episode (curiously, everybody thought "CSI" was too morbid and wouldn't live to see a pickup, and it turned out to be the big hit "The Fugitive" was supposed to be). From then on ratings fell to an underexpected average, and eventually CBS decided to revitalize its Thursday nights with ratings magnet "CSI," bumping Dick Van Dyke's "Diagnosis Murder" to Fridays, where it took "The Fugitive"'s old time slot. Even with a good lead-in the ratings didn't rise (the show aired opposite "Who Wants to be a Millionaire," which at the time drew huge numbers, giving the show a push to death). At the end of the season, CBS decided to cancel the entire lineup. At least they had the decency to show the series finale - but not to tell the producers not to write in a cliffhanger. Derek Barnes runs the Freakylinks.com website, which he took over when his twin brother, Adam, committed suicide. The website is dedicated to uncovering the hidden and often dark and scary truths behind urban legends and the paranormal. After receiving strange messages related to Adam, Derek begins to search for clues to how and why his brother died. He and the Freakylinks team investigate the reasons behind Adam's death while hunting down stories for the website, and their weekly exploits bring them in contact with the "weird, the unusual, the occult, the paranormal, and the just plain silly". Freakylinks was a horror/comedy/drama brought to us by the people who made The Blair Witch Project, and like that hit movie it also had a "reality hacking" website that was designed to look just like the site on the show (it is no longer officially online, but is available as a "portfolio" on Haxan's site). "Freakylinks.com" became one of the most active sites on the web before the series even aired, but all those hits did not translate into good ratings for the show. The series was put on hiatus more than once, but luckily FOX aired all 13 episodes before canceling it.

That's Life is the story of the adventures of Lydia DeLucca, a 32 year old woman from a close Italian-American family in New Jersey, who decides to start her life over by breaking her lengthy engagement and pursuing the college degree of her dreams.

Annette O'Toole stars as Dottie Thorson, who takes over her family's bounty-hunting business (with the aid of her daughter, played by Jordana Spiro) after her husband is murdered, in this drama series based on the real-life Thorson's adventures. (Her husband's story is featured in the 1980 Steve McQueen film The Hunter.) A spin-off from a TV movie that aired in March 2000, the series ran across two consecutive summers on USA.

Created by "Dawson's Creek's" Steven Antin, "Young Americans" was a fresh summer hit show and also a spin-off of "Dawson's Creek." Will Krudski starts school at Rawley Academy and tries to catch up with the fact that he's out of his element. His roomate, Scout Calhoun, longs for Bella Banks, a local girl that Will has known his entire childhood. Hamilton Fleming is edgy and alternative, while his outside status attracts friendship of Jacqueline Pratt.

Airing for five seasons on Showtime--making it one of the longest-running African-American TV dramas in history--Soul Food was adapted from George Tillman, Jr.'s movie of the same name, which in turn was based on his own childhood experiences in the Midwest. The series picked up six months after the events of the film, though with a new ensemble cast, led by Rockmond Dunbar, Nicole Ari Parker, Boris Kodjoe, and Vanessa A. Williams.

This acclaimed, Emmy-winning HBO miniseries about the impact of drugs on an inner-city Baltimore neighborhood came from David Simon, David Mills, and Edward Burns, who would go on to explore similar themes (with many of the same actors) in their even more acclaimed series The Wire. While the latter show concentrates more on both the cops and criminals on either side of the drug war, The Corner places a greater emphasis on those caught in the crossfire, including drug addicts. Jason Gedrick starred in this short-lived CBS crime drama based on the true story of FBI agent Joseph D. Pistone's stint as an undercover agent working to bring down the Mafia--the same story that inspired the film Donnie Brasco. (The names were changed here to avoid copyright issues.) Though it was not a miniseries, CBS opted to air it as one, broadcasting all nine episodes in an eight-night stretch.

A much darker take on the medical genre that was typical at the time, this short-lived drama series was created by Peter Berg, who would later go on to create Friday Night Lights. Michelle Forbes and Martin Donovan lead an ensemble cast for this fast-paced, documentary-style look at the doctors who work in the psychiatric and emergency units at Rivervue Hospital.

Making the Band -- the start of O-Town -- the brainchild of teen-pop Svengali Lou Pearlman, the former manager of the Backstreet Boys and 'N Sync. Equal parts the Monkees and MTV's The Real World, the show offered viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of a boy band, from their first audition to the signing of their first record deal. The show was a modest hit for ABC. More importantly for Pearlman, the show created legions of fans for O-Town before they even released their first album. This half-hour comedy chronicles the hilarious world of Christopher Titus and his totally messed-up poor white trash family. Between his drunken father, his dimwitted brother, and his goody-goody best friend, it's amazing Titus is alive, let alone engaged to a "normal" girl. Titus adapted Christopher Titus' stand-up routine in a novel way: each episode is narrated by Titus from a black & white "Neutral Space," from which he comments on the events as they unfold, punctuated by short, surreal flashbacks to his childhood and adolescence. The hilarious interplay between these three levels of narrative is sometimes amazingly complex and even contradictory, highlighting the exceedingly black nature of the show's humor. Alas, the Fox network lived up to its history of commissioning innovative television and then sabotaging it; the third and blackest season was made particularly incoherent by showing the sequences out of logical order. Titus never made it to syndication, and is currently unavailable — a buried gem — until its release on DVD in September 2005.

Drifting away from her studious friends, she finds herself increasingly drawn to others like her, the "freaks" who ' refuse to accept the status quo. Among them are Daniel (James Franco), a friendly but also a dangerous guy who seems to like Lindsay, as does his bud Nick (Jason Segel), who dreams of stardom as a rock-and-roll drummer a la Led Zeppelin's Jon Bonham. Then there's Ken (Seth Rogen), an acerbic rebel, and Kim (Busy Philipps), a tough girl who doesn't go easy on Lindsay. Meanwhile, Lindsay's freshman brother Sam navigates high school like a mouse in a maze. Threatened at every turn, and attracted to an unattainable cheerleader, Sam faces his own set of obstacles. Unfortunately the show was canceled after only 12 episodes had aired, this was due to the poor ratings obtained. A fan-led campaign caused NBC to broadcast three more episodes in July 2000, but these would not be seen until September of that year when the cable channel Fox Family aired them in syndication.

Not to be confused with Once and Again, which premiered during the same season, this CBS sci-fi series from Moonlighting creator Glenn Gordon Caron focused on a secret government project to create the perfect spy. After engineering the perfect human body (Eric Close, later of Without a Trace), the government gives it a brain taken from a dead man (John Goodman, who recurs via flashbacks), and he is trained by an espionage expert (Dennis Haysbert, later of 24). The show was canceled after its first season.

The West Wing provides a glimpse into presidential politics in the nation's capital as it tells the stories of the members of a fictional presidential administration. These interesting characters have humor and dedication that touches the heart while the politics that they discuss touch on everyday life. This coming-of-age drama tracked the experiences of the naive Felicity Porter (Keri Russell), who moves across the country to New York to attend college and pursue her high school crush, Ben Covington (Scott Speedman). The show followed Felicity and her new friends as they made the transition to adulthood and dealt with an endless slew of crises. The show aired 4 seasons and showed the main characters' four years attending college. Although now off the air, it remains one of the WB's best shows, giving the audience a realistic portrayal of the world of young adults.

Sports Night ran nearly two full seasons on the ABC network in the US during the '98-99 and '99-00 seasons. Created by Emmy Award winning writer/director, Aaron Sorkin. Sorkin created such movies as, A Few Good Men & The American President before his first venture into television (Sorkin would later create the massively respected & popular The West Wing). Smart, fast-paced, witty and featuring a fine ensemble cast, Sports Night struggled in the ratings from the start, particularly during its second season, when it was routinely pre-empted and moved from night to night. Art imitated life imitating art, as the show took on a consultant (William H. Macy in his first TV role since his stint on ER), was hired to "tweak" the ratings. The show within a show continued to falter, amidst rumors of the imminent sale of its network and the subsequent gutting of its staff, until it, like its parent Sports Night, simply disappeared from the schedule. Upon its cancellation, several networks, most notably HBO came to Sorkin for a possible move to the respected network, but nothing was ever solidified. Sports Night gained additional exposure through a subsequent syndication on Comedy Central.

However, Downey's personal problems and numerous arrests, eventually wore out Kelley's patience and he was dropped. Lisa Nicole Carson, who played Ally's roommate, also left at the end of the fourth season following a brief stint in an institution and admitted problems with substance abuse.Without Downey, the fifth season had floundered more than ever; bringing in Jon Bon Jovi as a love interest, and giving Ally a daughter played by Hayden Panettiere) hadn't helped. This sequel to the 1994 feature film Stargate chronicles the further adventures of planet-hopping Stargate Command (SGC) beginning a year after events in the movie. The series ran for four seasons before being canceled, until a fan campaign successfully brought it back for one final run of new episodes in 2001.

After audiences were deterred by the serialization in season one, the series was retooled for its second and final season, which depicted a series of three trials (at about six episodes apiece). The series also switched leads, with Anthony LaPaglia heading the season two cast. Murder One continued to draw low ratings and was canceled.

Millennium was a television series that premiered on Friday October 25, 1996. The series was Chris Carter's much anticipated follow-up to the very popular The X-Files. Millennium focused on the work of ex-FBI profiler Frank Black, who had retired but was brought back in as a consultant. Frank had a special ability to see into the minds of serial killers and to get into their heads. He also worked for a mysterious organization called the Millennium Group which seemed to take a special interest in serial killers and end of the world prophecy. In the first season, Frank lived in Seattle with his wife Catherine and daughter Jordan. The show focused on Frank's work as a profiler. He spent most of his time in the first season trying to solve serial murder cases. During the second season, the show primarily on Frank's relationship with the Millennium Group. He separated from his wife after his violent rescue of her from a stalker. Frank learned that the Millennium Group was a secret society that believed that the world was coming to an end. During that season, Frank spent much of his time working with Millennium Group member Peter Watts and fellow investigator Laura Means. After the death of his wife at the end of the second season, Frank severed all connection with the Millennium Group and returned to work with the FBI. With the help of special agent Emma Hollis, he began to investigate the Millennium Group itself. The show changes direction again this season, however much of the long term questions that were raised during the first two seasons are answered. The show was canceled at the end of the third season, with an unfinished ending. In later 1999, the show received a conclusion of sorts in a crossover with The X-files entitled "Millennium." However very little closure is brought by this episode. There is however as of late rumors that Millennium may be brought back as a movie of some kind in the near future and finish the story.
