At it's center is Brian Cohen, born in Bethlehem in a stable next door, who, by a series of absurd circumstances is caught up in the new religion and reluctantly mistake for the promised messiah, providing ample opportunity for the entire ensemble (Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Michael Palin) to shine in multiple roles as they question everyone and everything from ex-lepers, Pontius Pilate and haggling to revolutionaries, crazy prophets, religious fanaticism, Roman centurions and crucifixion, forever changing our biblical view. No historian recorded their heartaches, triumphs or names. Yet Ayla and others like her left indelible imprints. They continued humankind's long march toward civilization.... and away from more primitive groups like The Clan of the Cave Bear. Separated from her Cro-Magnon people by a calamitous earthquake, Ayla lives with a less-developed, male-dominated Neanderthal clan. She's different in appearance, in resourcefulness, in her uncommon defiance of social taboos. And from those differences arise conflicts that underscore the Cro-Magnons' evolutionary ascendancy and the Neanderthals’ mysterious disappearance from our world. [Warner Bros.]

As he takes us on a guided tour of his life, we meet all sorts of punks, poseurs, mods, freaks and a few others best described as indescribable. Stevo's ex-hippie father sees his lifestyle as a rite of passage and urges him to attend Harvard Law School like himself. Not to sell out to the system, but to buy in.
