Dec 23, 2019I really enjoyed the 8 episode Witcher series, and I look forward to the 2nd season. I had some problems with some parts, but all in all, I enjoyed what this series tried to do.

-
Dec 24, 2019Other than the sometimes confusing shifts of timeperiods, really satisfied with how this turned out. Cavill proves to be a great witcher with some amazing cast for the other aswell.
Hoping this will get many more seasons!
Fun to see some scenes from the books in live action, just as how you imagined them! -

Dec 24, 2019I was skeptical because of the cast they chose but it definitely was worth watching and has me hyped up for a second season.
-
Dec 24, 2019Was a great show. Not sure where the hate is coming from. If you like Super natural and GOT , etc this is the show for you. It has action, intrigue cool lore
And fantastic back story. Can’t wait for season 2 -
Dec 26, 2019I think for a first season it couldn't be done better, there's a room for improvement in next ones, and I'm sure its gonna be done :)
-
Dec 26, 2019True enough to the books. Pretty good casting. As far as telivision fantasy there is not much better than this, except GOT1-4. Interesting world and there is a lot of room to grow. The dragon looks a little wierd so a 9 instead of 10.
-
Dec 27, 2019It is so funny how pro cinema experts are giving so much **** to the show. I read the books and I played the games and this is very enjoyable. They made a show for the fans not for you, pedantic experts with bias opinions. Toss a coin to your Witcher and let the geeks enjoy our **** please and thank you.
-
Dec 27, 2019Honestly better than Game of Thrones. This Ip is genuinely one of the most interesting ips in the last 20 years. Finally it's hitting the silver screen and it does not disappoint. Seriously, this show is a must watch, even if you aren't a huge fan of the fantasy genre.
-
Dec 28, 2019Series had some weakness, but still a good series has a lot of potential to be great. Starts out slow with confusing story lines but need a lot of YouTube to understand it. Or rewatch the series to truly appreciate it. Critic reviews are stupid, critics are bought out by big companies. Pay attention to fan reviews and user reviews.
-
Dec 28, 2019I really enjoyed it. Of course, there were some minor flaws but overall it was such a great first season. I would recommend it. The story was captivating and every time an episode ended i wanted to watch the next one as soon as I could. The cast was amazing too. Can't wait for Seasons 2.

Jan 4, 2020It's really great and interesting fantasy show. It's not GOT, it's something else that only looks simillar. Actors are absolutly GREAT.

Jan 21, 2020Amazing. Henry Cavil nails it as Gerald. great character development in this first season, can't wait for the second one, where things should get more wild.
-
Dec 12, 2021Henry cavill and the rest of the cast are amazing but the episodes keep going back and forth through time which kinda makes it hard to follow otherwise it's a great show

Jul 6, 2023Thanks to this series, I got acquainted with the wonderful world of Andrzej Sapkowski - I started reading books and playing games. Thank you, Netflix, for such a pleasant acquaintance. The series itself is a good one. However, the only good casting is in Geralt and Dandellion.
-
Dec 22, 2019It's good. Better than expected. Not great. Swordfighting/Choreography is great, the plot is okay. It has a "confused at first, explain it later" narrative style which isn't my favorite. But its very watchable and enjoyable

Dec 22, 2019Hey Metacritic, do the right thing and take EW's review off your site. The critic only watched 1/4 of the show before giving it a 0. It should be taken down and not have an impact on the overall rating of the show.

Dec 21, 2019Very promising so far but be aware that the show will explain nothing to you. Its definitely for the book readers, so I higly recommend that you watch a story recap of the books on Youtube before you start with the show.
-
Dec 22, 2019Great show, with its problems. I watched all the series with pleasure. I think normal book fans will appreciate the series, but fanatics and haters always don't like something.

Dec 21, 2019Definitely there is room for improvement. Episode 2 was the worst (cause of Geralt's story in this one). First 2 episodes has problem with pacing (first minor but second is terrible on this field).
Overall this is a good season and Im definitely gonna watch it again. -
-
Dec 21, 2019Everything that had to do with Geralt was awesome. Henry is perfect in this role and I loved every second of him on screen. That said, the other storylines feel a bit dragged. Overall, it was fun, well executed, and I cannot wait for season 2. (Casting of Triss is killing me tho)

Dec 25, 2019Critics are wrong; this is a great series with each scene like a a new story. The lighting, scenery, and wardrobes top notch production.
-
Dec 22, 2019I actually like it. I have read all the books and play all three games (and thronebreaker) and it's a good show. It's not perfect (Nilfgaard armors, Tris) but i like how much effort they put in to make it exactly as the books. The books are NOT a masterpiece either so don't compare this to other shows.

Dec 23, 2019I wrote a review yesterday here on metacritic based on the Netflix series The Witcher, both giving my review and calling out review bombers for rejecting and giving low scores based rejection of the Witcher solely on their race of the cast.
Shame on metacritc and CBS. -
Jan 3, 2020Its a show with some room to improve, especially on the script and timeline, but the acting is spot on, the fights are also very good, the conversations between the characters are fluid and deep, really good job. One can only hope they put Disney level of budget on this show to make it a more awesome.
-
-
Dec 20, 2019Good work on books adaptation, amazing performance from actors, interesting to watch at all. Series got minor disadvanteges, hovewer more good things. Witcher doesn't deserve all this hate from another "angry internet army warriors, ahrrrr". It just nice, brave enough with violence and universe from Anjey Sapkovsky book series. Hope to see season 2, peace everyone and calm down.
-
Dec 20, 2019Finally something fresh :) I like it a lot. As an adaptation they did a good job. It;s typicaly made for American audience but it's good.
-
Dec 20, 2019The series is not a masterpiece, but quite good. I am ashamed of toxic fans rating the show as 0.
-
Dec 23, 2019having played most the games i know all the characters and can see what there trying to accomplish. i dig the show so far in the middle of the show it does get a little confusing why i gave it a 8 kinda hard to follow. but once u know whats going on its still a pretty good show. for sure not perfect but what show is.
-

Dec 23, 2019This show is not perfect. but what it does right, is enough for me to recommend. The Hollywood-izing of the Slavic culture is unfortunate, but is isn't that egregious. Henry is the perfect fit for Geralt, and most of the other casting is passable.

Dec 22, 2019A good adaptation of the books, I had low expectations going in but it proved highly entertaining despite some the unusual character changes for medieval polish fantasy.

Mar 28, 2020The Witcher Season 1 Review: 7.5/10
This show has so much potential. It has a very talented cast and an amazing story. Hope they'll manage the time differences better in the next season but besides that the first season of The Witcher was very enjoyable and entertaining. -
Dec 21, 2019Absolutely great start of the witcher series, all characters got a good introduction and build up a plot i cant wait to see being continued!

Dec 22, 2019Good acting, interesting story with a few questionable decisions made in production but the show is good enough to over look the flaws.
-
Jan 3, 2020This show is seriously fun! Read the first Witcher book and I must admin. They did a pretty good job of remixing the stories into a decent TV Show story-line that was OK to follow but very fun to watch. Hope they make an even better second season now that all the initial character building is done.
-
Dec 20, 2019Pretty good adaptation of the books, although overly complicated and convoluted for those that haven't read them.
-
Dec 21, 2019This show is pretty great. Right now I'm trying to get past some of the bad castings but the show is winning me over. Cavil is great. Perfect Geralt.
Battle scenes are killer. -
-
Dec 24, 2019Great first season, Henry Cavill is a great Geralt! Waiting to see more of this Witcher tales.

Dec 21, 2019As a fan of books, and games I recommend it. You need to know a little bit of background though to really enjoy it.
-
Dec 21, 2019Fascinating series. If you have read the books or played the games you will be rewarded with a deep look into the world of the saga. For all the others: be patient and try to understand all the context. You will see a deep an moving story with a really complex lore.

Dec 21, 2019Its not a 1 to 1 from the books- wich is good so people who read em can still watch it- BUT it can be very confusing and outright dumb at times. Can be confusing for viewers new to the witcher lore etc. The eefects are not the best and some could be way better but in general thy are good enough.
When they learn from the mistakes of the first season it could be a good show. -

Dec 21, 2019I played all the games, never read the books. I think the show is great. After you make it through the pilot, it gets better continuously. Cavill nails it! The characters are well written and performed for the most part. The setting looks fantastic. Some of the CG are mediocre. The only thing I hate is Dandelion's haircut...

Dec 21, 2019Pretty good series about The Witcher`s Universe.
Too underrated, but it has a lot of disadvantages:
- Strange casting (black elves and Vigo, Triss-romal)
- Too much unspoken and too much unnecessary
- Nilfgaardian armor
But, in summary, The Witcher is fine and **** for fans and geeks. -
Dec 21, 2019A solid 8. The only thing off-putting is the timeline shift from character to character. I can't wait for the next season!

The Witcher is a messy tangle of plotlines in a world underdeveloped to the point of obscurity.
-
As a mindless fantasy rollercoaster, Geralt’s journey is five stars all the way to tea-time. Sadly, for those who like brains with their brawn, it may be more of a slog.
-
It takes a while for viewers to learn how these characters are connected, via an exasperating Westworld-esque narrative knot that takes much of the season to unfurl. ... The Witcher heightens our confusion by fumbling details that would have helped it set a cohesive tone. Dialogue vacillates, from line to line, between theatrical fantasy-speak and modern colloquialisms (“Dragons are, in fact, a thing!”).
