Really give this show a chance - it will take time to get in and in the beginning sometimes you need to Re watch some parts to fully understand it, but as you do - you will fall in Love and lost in happyness on the same time. I suggest, if you want to more Lore to read the books or play the video games.

I honestly don't know how interesting the show can be for people who are not already introduced to the Witcher world by the books or games, but I'm a fan and I'm absolutely giving it a 10. Loved everything about it, the show has balls and it's doing a thing of it's own, I respect that so much. Henry Cavill as Geralt is iconic and truly amazing, like Viggo is to Aragorn. Expand

This show was awesome. I honestly do. It understated why it’s rated so poorly, it’s incredibly well done and immersive. Seems like Netflix is dealing with bias against original Netflix productions (which is warranted) but this show stands out in the most positive way. Can’t wait for the subsequent seasons.

High fantasy TV show that is faithful to the books. It does seem to "toss you into the deep end" as far as the world goes so people unfamiliar with the world may get lost on first viewing as the world is extremely fleshed out. It's well acted and the fight scenes are better than GOT

One of the best tv shows of 2019.

Despite the skepticism the show surpassed all expectations.

This is the first show since Game of Thrones that has captivated me to the point of obsession. It’s wonderfully character driven with round conflicted characters. Henry Cavill as the Witcher is perfect! Stoic with a wry sense of humor. I’ve started reading the books and believe Cavill captures Geralt’s personality perfectly!

The Witcher was the most legendary looking I ever watched at the time. This is something which might actually become a big franchise in the future if used properly. I have never played the game, though I have The Witcher Enhanced Edition on my GOG account. Because of this at first I was hesitant to watch this show, since I thought I won't understand anything. I have never played the game, though I have The Witcher Enhanced Edition on my GOG account. Because of this at first I was hesitant to watch this show, since I thought I won't understand anything. But later I got to know this is based on the book and not the game, so I was able to enjoy this.
Geralt of Rivia is my favourite mythological character now. His entry in the first scene was very badass, where he rips out a monster and exits. Initially I had only begun watching this for the memes, but slowly I started liking all the characters. In the first episode itself there is the scene where Geralt kills all the villagers and walks out of there. This precedes a meme template which I'm not allowed to write in this review since it's a cuss word.
There is a lot of world building here. We have all the landscapes, the creatures, the people, the lifestyle. It really feels like an RPG. The kids who used to ask everyone to watch Game of Thrones must be rolling in their graves after watching this. It clearly did more world building in just 2 episodes than Game of Thrones did in one whole season. There are many concepts that are explained throughout the series and all the background and context that is required to understand what is happening. The character development is also intense, especially for Yennefer when she transforms into a crooked outcast to a beautiful woman.
My favourite character in the show is the bard. His song, "Toss a coin to your Witcher, oh valley of plenty!" is now stuck in my head and is playing in a loop as I'm writing this review. My favourite episode was the one where all the different characters go out in the mountains to hunt for the golden dragon, and in the end the golden dragon reveals himself before Geralt. It is also the first thing I remember when I think of The Witcher.
It's good to see video game adaptations are finally getting better, and stories from lesser developed countries like Poland are being heard all over the world. I hope this series never gets ruined by the campiness that eventually haunted DCEU or Game of Thrones. This show needs to stay longer. It has inspired me to play the games once I get a gaming PC. It's a cultural phenomenon for us gamers and we must support it if we want to make ourselves and our hobby more recognised.

Loved the cast, Cavill is perfect as geralt. Yennefer and Ciri too, the true standout was the Lion of Cintra, amazing job.

Its relatively close to the books, and I think it does them justice, no tv show gets made without changes.

I can see the complaints from non-book readers,I can understand why they might find it hard to follow.

Great fighting and impressive screen play. One of my major pet peeves are rushed shows and corny acting. I was also worried that this was going to be a show pressured to scratch that "game of thrones" itch, and would suffer trying to be too ambitious. Instead, what I've found is a show done right, and it stands on its own.

I have to give Caville a lot of credit- he captures Geralt of Rivia exactly as I would picture him. You can tell he not only did his homework, but cleary has an interest in the games and/or books. So well done!

My only minor annoyance is that there are some details that aren't explained and makes the assumption you know what's going on. The fourth episode in, I was royally confused as to what was going on, because I didn't realize right away that we were going back and forth in time to tell the story, and what was going on with the characters in some of the scenes. I suppose though, this is what makes me want to read the books now and replay the games!

REALLY looking forward to this series continuing, and I urge everyone to watch it!

The timelines are a bit strange, but anyone with half a brain can figure it out. Critics probably still have tunnel vision on Game of Thrones, as this is NOT GOT, and should be taken as its own completely seperate thing. The EW review in particular is asinine, and that reviewer didnt watch all the episodes- its a joke. The usual anti-sjw snowflakes of course showed up because there are minorities in it- so in expected fasion, they review bombed it like the little insecure babies they are. Bottom line is though, if you liked the games, you'll like this most likely.

The portions of the game are very well put into the series. makeups, effects, and CGIs are very good in some parts and bad in some that I really don't know why. The design of the elves and the dryad is also intangible. In terms of acting, I thought at first that yennifer wouldn't be able to play this role, but as story progressed, she showed more of her in the book. Another point is serial timelines that might be a little annoying for those who were not familiar with the books.

I am happy to say that I was wrong in all my worries. Henry Cavill is amazing as Geralt. He nails the voice and overall feel of Geralt. He is easily the best part of the show. The rest of the characters are well rounded for the most part, and the acting is very good. Coming up next would be the cinematography and look of the show. Much of the time, it has a very dark and dreary feel to it, but it fits the story well. The visual effects are pretty good as well, especially the magic effects. The fight scenes are some of the best I've ever seen in a tv show. Last, but certainly not least, is the quality of the music. Besides the awesome "Toss a Coin to your Witcher" song, the more dramatic themes and songs are amazing to listen to.
While I enjoyed my time with this show a great deal, there were one or two things that I feel could have been done better. The biggest problem that I noticed right from the first episode, was the quality of the creature's visual effects. Whether pure CGI, costume, or practical, the majority of them just didn't look high quality. The only other problem I found, especially in the earlier episodes, was the timeline. It was a bit hard to follow due to the lack of notation on screen as to what specific time line I was watching at a given time.
Overall, this is a great show for anybody that likes medieval style fantasy. It can be a bit hard to follow at times, and some of the effects are sort of cheesy looking, but I believe the acting, fight scenes, and general aesthetic, more than make up for these small short comings. I am looking forward for season two.

Good and very good acting all around, some weaknesses in the dialogues here and there, some strange choices in the storytelling (mainly the timeline treatment, though I did also enjoy having the challenge to piece it all together - might be something that makes me rewatch it before S2 comes out). Greatest disappointment would be how high my expectations went after seeing the first part of Yen's evolution and finding out online that she's supposedly a very powerful sorceress, only to see her presented as... slightly above-average on confidence, knowledge and power for the rest of the season. Maybe they're reserving the more impressive Yen for later, when we start to get bored of seeing Geralt using the same strengths over and over. The Witcher heightens our confusion by fumbling details that would have helped it set a cohesive tone. Dialogue vacillates, from line to line, between theatrical fantasy-speak and modern colloquialisms (“Dragons are, in fact, a thing!”).
