The only thing Tolkien about this, is the title. Should of just called it Dungeons & Dragons as it is a simple fantasy adventure lacking nuance or depth.

Two hours/episodes in at the time of writing. I have given it two stars for the budget more than anything. It is nice to look at but offers no substance.

This is not lord of the rings / middle earth. Tolkien's work has been torn apart. He would be ashamed of this creation. The characters are one dimensional caricatures with few to none redeeming qualities. Take Galadriel as an example. Horrible Karen of a character. Single minded. Unintelligent. Uncaring. Unwise. Shows no real emotion. Has a mind only for revenge. And all too flat in the role. Not even the need for revenge is portrayed convincingly. The exact opposite of the real character Tolkien wrote. They try to make her look good by making those around her perform worse physically. But it cannot save her character, and instead makes the entire race of elves look bad. As one of the leads in the show, her character exemplifies all that is wrong with this show. Unfortunately this trend is seen with nearly all characters shown so far. Don't even get me started with the dwarves or the "Harfoots". The show writers had a wealth of A-class writing to draw from. Decades of carefully written lore, world building and character design. They used none of it. Instead they give us this flat, unintelligent, travesty. Which dishonours the original works of the author, and offers nothing in return beyond its budget.

Really really dull

Script: Full of sudo-wise quotes that don’t make sense 2/10

Costumes:
Men: 7.5
Nothing stands out - looks decent Dwarves: 8
Harfoots: 1
If you can embroid, you can make clean edges to items of clothing. They shouldn’t all be torn and in rags.
Elves: 2 Doesn’t look like they read Tolkien’s description of them - their armour looks like plastic figurines.

CGI:
5 average - very expensive. I don’t feel it will have an enduring staying power. It looks too clean and uniform. We see hundreds of entirely identical elven ships. Most of the elves in amour look like a copy and past in a computer.
World doesn’t look lived in - has a stock footage quality for selling TVs Kinda documentary feeling in first episode - strange for a high fantasy.

Don’t recommend you watch.

Also, the story is presented in a very bad way. Even for those who do not know the middle earth, there is a confusion that takes place on a boring and tiring level. Most of the actors could not devote themselves to the production and created a soulles environment. It looks more like fan-made mundane work than a cinematic piece. The music is not bad but the use of music in the series is very bland and amateurish. So much so that any thematic music was used for different event focuses. Unfortunately the only positive comment I can make about the series so far will be about the descriptions of middle-earth places... Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I wanted to give this show a chance, but holy Hobbit, what a mess! And since some trolls have destroyed the positive ratio of all most helpful negative reviews on Metacritic in just a few minutes, only one thing helps - to resubmit again! Where to start? Elves whose hairstyles are reminiscent of a poorly made Pop music video from the 80s and for whom actors have been cast who don't look like immortals at all. Plus: A one-dimensional main character who, miles away from the shores of Middle-earth, goes for a swim in the biggest plot hole since the penultimate episode of the final season of Game of Thones - and who, thousands of years later, still behaves like a defiant child whose self-made paper ship has just been sunk. For whom nothing is at stake at any time, because this very special elf is able to kill a troll in 30 seconds, which took Legolas and the Fellowship almost ten minutes in the mines of Moria. Infantile Harfoots, whose scenes are sometimes reminiscent of a sitcom from the 50s, but where you wait in vain for the laughter to fade in in the background. And when two elves, without provisions, without horses and above all - without any presentable delegation, walk miles to get an audience with a dwarf prince and one of them (who, by the way, is the most important blacksmith in Middle-earth) must simply turn around to make the long, arduous journey back...then, dear viewer you truly wonder whether this Is High Fantasy or a Brigand's Tale.

Fortunately, it turns out that the diverse cast, which some "so-called trolls" have questioned in advance, cannot and will not have any influence at all on this review. How could it, given that we live in an age in which heated discussions are justifiably triggered when historical or fictional films are not cast with appropriately ethnically correct leading actors because people want to renounce the "white-whashing" of times past. It is anything but politically correct and respectful to miscast, for example, Scarlett Johannson in the live-action adaptation of the Japanese anime masterpiece "Ghost in the Shell" or John Wayne as Genghis Khan. Who would think of casting Disney's live-action adaptation of Mulan with Caucasian actors, like in "Breakfast at Tiffany's"? And just to make it absolutely clear: I think that's a good thing! But why do the opposite here? Especially when you know in advance that the majority of Tolkien fans seem to worship all his works as "history" with almost religious zeal.

Leaving aside the pointlessness of such a discussion: not everyone will have the opportunity to see the first two episodes in the cinema on a big screen, so that at least some of the really great images can unfold their effect. And this despite the fact that the CGI effects are unfortunately clearly perceived as such and some things look like ultra-graphic settings in a computer game. But if, like most people, you can only watch the whole thing on a normal TV, then the sheer glamour of this big visually blown-up nothingness fades very quickly and you focus on what really makes a good TV series: A compelling script with main characters that you can and want to sympathise with. Unfortunately, the vast majority here is reduced to a moderately written soap opera full of clichés. And no - I don't expect the quality of the whole thing to improve significantly, at least not in the first season, but I sincerely hope for a more differentiated development of the main protagonists in the future - especially that of a certain person.

In the end, all that remains for me is the realisation that this is probably more of a retelling of the fairy tale "The Emperor's New Clothes". Only this time, the majority of critics praise the sheer finesse and epic grandeur of the "outfit", whereas the majority of hardcore fans will put it more honestly: "The emperor isn't wearing anything at all!"

Sadly, after watching the first two episodes (which felt more like a slog or doing homework than coming along on a grand adventure) I can write my expectations are crushed. It’s all been said in the other reviews — beautiful scenery and expensive wardrobes can’t save basic, paint by numbers bad writing and plotting, cardboard thin and cliche characters, action sequences that unintentionally play as farce or comedy even, etc. Im done with it. I will not watch another episode unless by some miracle Amazon decides to replace each and every show runner, writer and producer who worked on this first season. Expand

So long as visuals and diverse casting is met, everything else can fall by the wayside. This move toward "inclusiveness" based on reality and co-opting someone's work to fit someone else's agenda is, and has always been, at the expense of fiction. Fiction is what it is because it doesn't need to fall in line with reality. Reality can influence fiction but exists apart from fiction, and fiction apart from reality. If this weren't the case, we'd be discussing non-fiction. Fiction is not non-fiction.

People often seek fiction to leave behind reality, even if only for a moment, because our real world problems are not what we want to focus on. We want to see another world's problems from another person's perspective, and come out of the fictional world with new insights.

What's beautiful about fiction is that events, people, and places in fictional worlds are unique to the creator. They might sometimes be based (in varying levels) on reality, but they're different from reality and different from one creator to another. Tolkien's world was based on medieval Europe, but is a place with all colors of skin, all levels of height and weight, all varieties of accents and speech, but a (general) separation of peoples for various reasons. They do come together to accomplish great things, but they are not normally intermingled together.

Forcing those things beyond the creator's vision muddies and sullies the story that was built up around those things, and will almost always invariably result in bad reviews by unpaid critics (your average viewer), especially those who were great fans of the original works. You can chalk it up to racism, sexism or some other -ism, but that's mostly fiction. The reality of the matter is that you co-opted someone else's vision to suit your own agenda, and people don't like that, regardless the social or political gang colors they wear. Diversity of actors, in terms of color, gender, or sexual identity is perfectly fine. Take stories that already include the diversity you're looking for, and build that world. Or create new ideas with the amount of diversity you're looking for, and build that world. This is only as difficult as creators want to make it. If it's "too hard" to build something new with the ideas you're looking for, that's on you. Not the story or the world that needs to be built. Build your own worlds, or use worlds that closely match what you're looking for in a story. Don't steal from others and pretend for, whatever reason, that it's "okay" or "this is what he would have wanted". You're mixing up fiction with reality and all you'll end up with is a broken, poorly reflective imitation of reality and truth, and if it's not true reality, it's fiction. Co-opting TV, film, and streaming services are living in fictional worlds while destroying other people's fictional worlds. And that's why you'll continue to see bad reviews on stories that ventured too far beyond the creator's vision. At least what DC and Marvel have is alternate realities, that have explored variations in timelines and people. These companies and creators did that. So it's easy to incorporate all the possibilities across universes. Tolkien's world does not have alternate universes, and this world of make-believe is not his vision anymore. It's become someone else's agenda.

The story has several logical flaws and only a few interesting arcs so far, but if you don't think about it too much you can live with that. Overall I'd say: you can clearly see they put a lot of money into this, but ultimately it feels a bit like Amazon itself, empty and soulless. Purely on the quality I'd give 4.5/10, but I have deducted two point because Amazon is actively censoring IMDB/Rotten Tomatoes reviews and ratings (I saw reviews and ratings disappearing with my own eyes). Don't believe any ratings you see on these sites, they are manipulated. Expand

The cinematography and filming locations are as stunning as the LOTR movies, and the CGI is top-notch. And.....that's about where the good news ends.
The first episode is terrible. Not only am I not interested in the characters, but it seems to be a perversion of the characters that Tolkien introduced in his books. The plot is disjointed, hard-to follow and you keep waiting for something to happen. And nothing really ever does.....
The second episode is better, but again, I found myself not really caring about any of the characters. Why is it called the Rings of Power? We still don't know.
Dry, or overly smarmy acting, and a slow, plodding, hard-to-follow plot. Character development and the story itself seems secondary (or even tertiary) to the show's focus on landscape shots and CGI special effects. It's like the producers realized that the show wasn't making much sense, so "Hey, we need to throw in a magnificent landscape shot!" or "Let's add some more CGI here!" to distract the viewer from the bumbling plot and rather diffident character development.
I'll probably watch the next episode (or two), but something needs to happen pretty quickly.
It's not very good so far.

Well, I can't prove that. What I saw is some nice CGI, some partly good music and a refreshing diversity even though one needs to mention that female dwarfs, black or white, indeed have beards. But then ... the dialogues, the dialogues are so ridiculous, so abysmal hideous that it pains the viewer and evokes Fremdscham in children-spectators. The characters are shallow, the elves are not distinctive at all, the acting is wooden and the language does not as most elements of the series reflect Tolkien's work. At one point a Harfoot wants to express that she can't communicate with fireflies and says: "I don't speak fireflies" - I'm not kidding you, that's what she said. It's horrible and an insult to intellect of any kind. There are in fact so many flaws that one watches with ones jaw dropped down. Old elves? Tired elves? Elves that move without any grace at all while speaking silly and sloppy english? Galadriel without wisdom and Elrond giving the impression of a clown. What a major sorry effort this is and a shame to be associated with JRR Tolkien. My friend's 12 year old daughter asked why the elves don't speak elvish at all :D Expand

Having to re-write this review cause meta-critic just let's the ticker spin when I submit my last one.. I hope they accept this one unless they are stopping the poor scores?

Anyway, yeah everything I feared could go wrong in this series, just about is so far. I mean some of the scenery is nice, and a couple characters were decent. But the Elves in general (most everyone not a Dwarf) was insufferable, and bad depictions of fantasy in the Tolkien universe. Is this a late 80's european pop video? The pacing was horrible, soundtrack was poor, dialogue was outright laughable. If you going to spend this much time and money on a project, you better have PROVEN cast and crew to sell it. Not activists, not first timers, and definitely with this kind of money, you better have more rights to the brand to use proper names, races and lore timeline..

dumb dumb and more dumb..

I appreciate the choice of Lady Galadriel, as she resembles the Jacksons' one in her visage (albeit if not in her behaviour). You can see the monetary value in its visuals (despite the characters appearing separated from their environment), but it is a soulless husk.

Really, really disappointing. I've been a LOTR fan since the early 2000s and this is pretty pathetic work all around other than the stunning cinematography at times.

LOTR fans are hyper-sensitive to the lore, canon and stories put together by Tolkien. There are multiple instances where the lore is ignored, and the dialogue, stories, and even actions are just not believable or relatable.

The Harfoots narrative is extremely boring, the first interactions with the elves and orcs (in the house and in the pit) left me wanting more, and altogether I've left a lot of scenes being like "What were they even trying to do there?".

For example, in the pit fight, one of the elves throws a fit about the orcs making him cut down a tree. As a LOTR fan, I know that trees are sacred to the elves, but they didn't make that clear at all nor did they try to explain that in any way. So it just seemed like the guy loved the environment. It's good to see the people who put together GOT stay much more true to the lore, but unfortunately for the showrunners of LOTR the fan community won't put up with an overly CGI, unbelievable story that tries to use cinematography to make up for the blind spots. We want raw, real, action with deeply flawed yet inspiring characters to who we can relate to. This just isn't it.

Also if I see one more slow-motion cheesy scene of an elf flying in the air with their legs flailing in an attack I'm going to turn it off. BE ORIGINAL.

The Dwarves were cool mostly Nori, this horrible annoyingly written, was kinda adorable all thanks to the actress.
Galadriel is just another feminist, self-insert power fantasy.

Its so stupid, she was originally one of the most powerful being in the entire universe but she wasnt a warrior, she was a Sorceress.
One that could annihilate you with a single glance.
Ironically the writers actually made her WEAKER thinking they made her a "strong independent woman"

How did it come to this? Bad writing, bad acting, and a disdain for meaningful character development leads to mick that the show is. It makes Galadriel an incompetent fool, all elvish men toxic and selfish, and any other characters meaningless.

Amazon would have done better to create a story about water than it does to give any personality to its characters

ROP is not worth watching because of the flatness of its dialogue and story.

I made it until episode 4, 0:16min before saying "Stop, I will not waste my time", I will watch Game Of Throne instead.

I give it a 2/10 because the Visual Effect studio did a nice job on the few panoramic shots.

I am mindful that Amazon paid a lot of money to make this happen and given the current times and technicalities of what exactly they bought the rights to, I knew there would be deviation from canon (casting, non-canonical plotlines, etc) which I am fine with. I am also aware that Tolkien was a genius who spent decades shaping his world and lore and it would be quite unfair to expect writers of a TV series to match the quality work.

Yet, even with these caveats, I am completely perplexed to no end on how abysmal the writing for this series is given the reported cost per episode of about $60 million. It is so bad that no amount of fancy cgi and visual effects can mask this. I am left now wondering...where did all the money go? Is it that hard to spend a bit more on quality writing?

Here are some issues I have:
First, why would you cast a 5000+ year old Galadriel (one of the oldest elf still alive on Middle Earth at the time of the show) into the likes of a "tempestuous" teenage brat who has to be taught lessons on diplomacy from a 20-30 year old man...Really?

Second, there are simply too many storylines going on here for character development and for me to be invested in. I don't think the show so far would change at all if you dropped the Gandalf + Harfoot story line completely.

Third, I think the writers could have done much better by focusing on a few characters and explored the internal character struggles more in depth. For example, Elendil + Miriel's faithfulness in their belief in time of doubt and disavowment - why do they still cleave to the old ways? what sacrifices are they making to continue in their path? Another example could be SHOWING Halbrand's history in the Southlands and the horrible things he may have done more in depth first before meeting Galadriel instead of TELLING us. They try to do this with Elrond and Durin and Mithril but this whole plotline is not convincing to me. In contemplating some my points made above, I have to come to the conclusion that (1) such quality writing is not possible for TV. Games of Throne went to **** after they exhausted all of the source material; and (2) a faithful understanding and appreciation of the philosophy and spirit behind Tolkien's work which is Christian at its core is highly improbable in Hollywood today.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Here is the positive I have to say:
The show definitely invested a lot of effort into making the environment look good; The scenes of the mountains, lakes, rivers, and landscape shots do look good. I enjoyed Robert Aramayo's performance, I think he's doing a good job. Lloyd Owen's performance is also enjoyable to watch. The Last positive thing I have to say is that they occasionally make this show feel like Middle-Earth.
Negative:
I have a lot of negative things to say about this show but i'll sum them up in two broad strokes: First, while the show has a good story on paper, they have executed it horribly so that the story doesn't make sense. Second, while the show has a handful (a very small handful) of positive moments, the negative ones far outnumber them and they take you out of the show, ruining what few good things the show had going for it. What do I mean by this? Well, for one thing the dialogue is particularly bad to the point that you have to backtrack to understand what is being talked about, removing you from the story. You end up asking yourself "why?" at different points rather than "wow". As the story on paper seems good, the writers went about executing it terribly. For example: In the sixth episode, it's not a bad idea to bring the tower down on the heads of the Orcs to stall them; this is a good idea on paper. However, an ancient elven tower that can be brought down by burning a single rope that held up a single piece of metal that was holding the whole tower together, is not a well executed idea. And the show has so many moments like these spread from the first episode to the last one that I find myself scratching my head and wondering "why?" more often than I find myself saying "that's cool".
Overall, I rated this show as a 2 because it has a couple good things going, but the negatives keep me from really enjoying it, taking me out of the story, thus getting a bad score.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

I actually appreciate a diverse cast, but you can't substitute good writing with diversity. A good series or movie will have a diverse cast, and the viewers are so immersed that they don't even notice race or gender. The rings of power rubs your face in it. The pacing is very slow, the characters have no depth, and to make the female characters stand out, they make them loud and insufferable. They basically gave all the females masculine personalities and the males feminine personalities. This makes all of the characters unrelatable and unlikable. There is a trans person in the cast, but they are not trying to look like they've transitioned? Instead, they have a shaved head, a mans face, with boobs in a wedding dress? I'm no expert but isn't trans supposed to be transitioning into the opposite sex? The writers are idiots who think they are being edgy by pushing norms to the extremes. The writers have taken so many liberties with Tolkien's Middle Earth history, you need to look at it as a completely different story unrelated in anyway to his writings. For example, this story takes place in the First Age, about 3,000+ years before the LOTR's Third Age. Galadriel stated that her husband Celeborn was dead, when at no time in any of the writings does Tolkien present that story line. There is a great deal of conjecture if the "Old Visitor" is Gandalf. Per Tolkien's writings, the wizards (Istari), 5 in total, do not arrive in Middle Earth until the Third Age; thus, neither Gandalf, Saruman, Radigast nor the other unamed wizards should even be considered in these stories.

Again, while it is enjoyable as such, it should be looked at as a completely separate story with similarly named characters to Tolkien's stories.

I think to enjoy it you have to come in with low expectations and just accept it isn’t really designed to tie into the Jackson movies or books, other than loosely drawing from them for general and altered references. In other spots it seems to contradict what we would expect with elves often being portrayed as short humans with little foresight, self-control, reasoning, or wisdom, then seemingly important moments really just being a matter of coincidence and chance. Overall uninteresting and anti-climatic with no fight scenes or high drama moments that make any lasting impact other for being silly. Expand

Bad acting, bad dialogue, poorly written story. Even the hobbits were poorly done. The special effects were decent. The only reason I am not giving it 1 start is that I liked the Orcs.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Rings of Power was bad on so many levels. Without a doubt the most hated TV show of all time. Zero interest for the next season. 2 is a fair rating for this show. Most of the positive reviews are obviously fake and paid for. I hope no one else hate watches Season 2. There are a million better things to do with your time than watch this or other Hollywood garbage.
Some laughable highlights:
-Galadriel swims across and ocean
-Almost everyone survives a volcanic eruption
-Galadriel teaching Numenoreans how to fight
-Galadriel throws a group of soldiers into a jail cell -The Woke diversity in what is a story set in ancient Europe (I'm not white btw)

I have not watched the original films in decades, but I remember them as being emotionally impactful and very long.

I will say this about the source material; this is probably the most beloved thing to people who like it, ever. The most towering example of a massive work that enraptured billions of people that has ever existed. If somebody is into this kind of stuff, it is basically the bible. So. Setting out to callously mine this fabled work and thinking you could improve on it, or ignore it, was blunt stupidity.

This new thing. It looks cheap. Period. Something this dependent on special effects better make sure the effects are special. As an old Ray Harryhausen fan I am a person who will watch a product just to enjoy the effects work. Not in this case. Almost all the scenes appear flat and artificial, as though they were wrapped in a blooming plastic. Badly conceptualized and poorly executed, and frequently over lit. If I were told this show were produced by the CW I would believe it.

There is one standout actor in the entire cast. There is a lot of overt face-making, which is not good when you're attempting to suspend disbelief in a silly place like Middle Earth. Inexplicable pauses and eyebrow work do not get the job done (Morfydd Clark seems particularly out of her depth and frantic). I don't need star power at all but there aren't any performers in this show that land, with the exception of Lenny Henry. He is memorable from the moment he appears and the production knows it. Otherwise the actors are cast precisely to "type" and behave as placeholders, delivering shorthand dialog that doesn't stick. There are some sidebar characters who are more interesting that the main cast. Three episodes in and I don't care about anyone's outcome. At this point I am rooting for the Orcs. They are at least clearly motivated and interesting.

I'm bored. And that is the overall problem. There is no weight to any of this. It's the worst thing it could be - Frivolous. It's a rushed experience but among the deluge there is no information to care about. If someone asked what ROP is about I could honestly say I'm not sure. Orcs? Or something. It's as though the people making this had a big movie bowl and tossed things into it without understanding what they represent - hurling "elements" at the audience is not the same thing as constructing a believable place and therein weaving a compelling tale. Oddly their aversion to the old books and movies has not stopped the new project from telling an almost identical story.

One would guess that this group of people got together and had a meeting, and sat around throwing ideas around, and saying things like "Orcs! These guys like Orcs!" or "Swords, we have to get a lot of swords and battles with yelling!", and definitely "Game of Thrones had dragons, let's get dragons!" Film makers either know what they're doing with this kind of High Fantasy world building or they don't. They don't. Also, publicly crapping on the original and the bajillion people who love it was also not a fantastic idea. I suppose that sums it up. Lord of the Rings / Rings of Power has a lot of not fantastic ideas.

And for someThe riders of Numenor show up without hesitation right at the crucial moment, riding day and night, when the EPIC battle of those times are about to break out - namely the siege of mankind's last tavern in some **** village. And for some reason this location was so important that the throng of the orcish hordes show up just to demolish this rundown place. Then kings and queens and the hores of their time join in a jolly merrymaking once the battle is over. Behold - the world (symbolized most likely by that tavern) is saved.

Also.

The thousands of years of elven master smith is taught about smithing and alloys by outsiders. The long lived elven Galandriel has't accumulated enough wisdom appearantly during her hundreds of years to handle diplomacy like a pro. Wonder what she's been doing instead. This show is terrible.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Boring propaganda that takes a big stinky dunk on its source material just like Witcher did. I understand that things need to be adapted for modern audiences but to change the message of the original and butcher the mythology is unacceptable. Unrelatable characters, weird time jumps and plot holes litter the series. This is so far the biggest "TV" disappointment in years. This comes from some1 who consumes all fantasy and sci-fi good or bad. By episode 5 i fell a sleep and didn't even bother to continue. Whenever I tried to finish the season i just struggled eventually giving up completely. When I heard of episode 10 cliffhanger i wasn't even bothered instead i re watched łotr and hobbit and imagined what rings of power could be. Expand

Truthful, in one of the first interviews from Amazon they (don’t remember at this point who) have said that they will stick to the book. Well, they forgot to mention that they did, to the one called script in which they have changed everything to match the atmosphere of the woke cancer that is spread across media. Now they get exactly the same reward as the computer games that tried to push this bc, unhappy majority. In return instead of accepting the feedback and acting accordingly they blame MAJORITY of ppl for not being woke enough. If not the savings I get on the parcels, just for this show I would cancel my subscription. Few years back I cancelled my ***flix account for shoving this bs down my throat. Now Amazon tries to do it even more often. I do hope this shows flops in a ways worth mentioning for the years to come. Expand

At the core of any production is the script. No amount of lipstick can amend a compromised story. Unfortunately, the same downfall to the last seasons in Game of Thrones is at play in the Rings of Power.

For any writer, this would be the most challenging task of their lives to stand in the ring with the Professor. It's painfully apparent that the production suffers from the Dunning-Kruger effect. The script is fraught with issues ranging from pacing, positioning, characterization, and pail attempts at sounding Tolkienian. Characters behave in ways that the plot demands but are unbelievable when you think about it. No sane person would attempt to swim across an entire ocean on their own!

The greatest flaw of this show is that it fails to be escapism. This is mostly the marketing's fault for being hyper-fixated on what should be the least important aspect of a fantasy journey. If RoP survives to future seasons, I can only hope that Amazon stops trying to lean on allegories to the modern-day as a crutch (and shield) for the subpar writing.

What you can see is that billions were spent on the series, but I saw a number of things that seem more amateurish than something that was extremely careful. Some of them:
- The ice stalactites, at the beginning, are very similar and don't look like they were generated by "nature".
- While the characters climb the mountain, they don't do any strength, neither in the arm nor in facial expressions. They look like they're on something with zero gravity.
- The scene where there is a big tree is visually beautiful, but the background looks disconnected and gives the impression that it is in a studio.
- When the "comet" falls, the fires around the crater don't look like they started organically. They look like they were placed and places almost lined up.
- When they are on the boat, an extremely bright light hits the characters' faces, however, the background appears to be from somewhere else, as it does not receive the same light. I can't focus on the story because this kind of failure causes me to scatter.
Worst of all, and it has been a flaw in many movies today, is the story change. I wanted to watch it to see Tolkien and not the interests of some big company behind the production.

It had everything to go right, however, they threw it all down the drain and destroyed, right away, what could be the best series of all time. They turned the series into one of the worst. Every dollar spent on its production was wasted.
