To showcase a love story that embodies what the human experience might be in the apocalypse. There are quotes from this episode that I found so profound, that I wrote them down so I won’t forget them. Everything but the first 5 mins and last 5 mins of the show could be deleted and the viewer would still have the same understanding of the main story line. The show deviated too far from the source material here. I have no issue with LGBT couples in movies or television but I didn't need an hour long episode to tell me the characters were gay to then kill them off (which is not the case in the game, bill plays a much larger role in the game) essentially wasting an hour of the viewers time for nothing. Bill and Frank should have been introduced as a couple and the show should have moved on in a direction that stayed closer to the source material. We understood Joel and Tess were a couple and didn't need an hour long show specifically focused on their relationship to make that conclusion. I feel that Bill played a much larger role in the game and was written out of the show just to tell an apocalyptic love story.… Expand

I think this was an unnecessary change from the source material. They spent at least 30 minutes with showing us the relationship of Bill and Frank and in the end both of them died without meeting Ellie.Joel got the letter from Bill which changed his mind about Ellie. This was the whole reason to show us Bill and Frank's relationship. I think this is simply poor writing, especially because this is a mini-seried, so the format is not great for fillers.I think the episode could have been better with a better editing and and writing.… Expand

It was a great episode!
I just didn't really like the whole aspect of making Bill homosexual and assuming him an Frank were lovers. When they were not Frank originally was going to betray Bill and take all his fuel, guns and food.

It was a wonderful episode.
In my opinion it was a smart move to change Bill's story from the game, they deepened his character a lot more and I'm glad Frank got a chance to make a proper introduction. This episode showed how to remain humanIt was a wonderful episode.

Rings of Power sucked. The Last of Us episode 1.3 did NOT suck. The episode didn't change the canon a whole lot. It just changed the point of view focus. THEY WERE GAY IN THE GAME. THAT'S A FACT. There wasn't even sex, so all these "gay porn" comments are so stupid. If you liked the movie 'Up,' this episode is basically the same thing as the first ten minutes.
It's just incredibly sad that 80 percent of the reviews here are 100% people angry about gay people and their relationship being the focus (despite, again, ZERO SEX). If you actually want a legitimate review, this is excellent television, and it's going to rightfully win awards.… Expand

This episode of the series, Long Long Time, is such a gift to fans like me who played the games and who hoped that the show would open the doorway for more than just a re-telling of the game events. I could never have dreamed that the backstory of Bill and Frank would have so exceeded anything I could have hoped for. Although their relationship came to an end in a different way in the game, I’m impressed with the changes and am so grateful to have gotten to see such a gorgeous, gut wrenching, thoughtful, worthy telling of their story. What an incredible treat! Absolutely flawless, and perfectly in tune with all I’ve come to expect from the continuing legacy of The Last of Us. Perfection!… Expand

My taste asks for less sex stuff and more action, but ok. It’s a beautiful and unique story for the genre. We have seen super soldiers main characters mow down zombies in a million different shows. A happy ending in a n apocalypse show? Now that’s one of a kind.

I don't want 1 hr gay romance in my episode of a TV show based off a **** zombie game. How absurd! I want Joel and Ellie doing what they do in the game. That's it. How hard is that to give us? Billy was way cooler in the game and the awesome sequence we saw there was completely missing from this. What a joke.… Expand

I feel as if it was good tv; but this isn't The Last of Us anymore?

Like the whole episode could be built around the relationship of these two characters, because other than a couple of moments where they showcase the survival & horrorI feel as if it was good tv; but this isn't The Last of Us anymore?

Like the whole episode could be built around the relationship of these two characters, because other than a couple of moments where they showcase the survival & horror elements from the game is almost null when it comes to its lenght and depth.

The entire plot of the game in regards to these characters gets blown over, the violence isn't here either...

I was one of the people who understood that the violence in the game served a purpose (whether the creator's wanted it or not) it fit with the whole narrative of the post-apocalyptic world, and it helped in showcasing what character's needed to do to survive.

But here the violence seems completely neglected from the show, as if it came -like Mazin said-, out of a need of keeping the "violence that's necessary" something that I agree with, but such a logic that has also omited a number of elements from the experience that were part of the game.

This hardly could be called an adaptation, is more of a reimagining of the game, I guess if you've never played the game you'll be okay with most changes, given the lack of a frame of reference; but for me, this was a good episode that had little to no focus in the elements that I enjoyed from the game or its world.… Expand
