And they even die in the episode , so wont be seen again lol The game version of one of the characters that died ( Bill) is made to be a Pancy instead of the bad ass he is supposed to be.
In the game Bill was so in love with Frank but Frank couldn't stand him and decided to end his life , later when his body was found they also found a letter from Frank saying how much he dislikes Bill and his ways just amazing story telling. Also had the main characters engage in great banter with Bill. This episode is total trash.
Would of gave this a 2 but as so many are review praising this I had to give it a 0… Expand

Bill Town was my favorite Chapter in the game and most nostalgic one. I had an Idea that bill was a Gay but the had showed that thing in a way that they knew it was wrong. Una parte donde teníamos que cumplir unos objetivos para conseguir un bien. En el juego funciona, en la serie seguro no tanto. Así que se sacan de la manga una bonita historia que nos hacen conectar con los sentimientos de Joel y al final del episodio, la historia principal continua exactamente igual que en el videojuego. Chapó.
También hablar de la valentía de HBO y de los creadores de la serie por tratar la sexualidad de dos hombres adultos con tanta naturalidad. Visto el odio vertido en redes, queda constancia que estamos lejos como sociedad de normalizar algo tan primario como el amor.… Expand

L'histoire entre Bill et Franck est très belle et touchante, mais voir cela tout l'épisode et supprimer tout le reste ! C'est une énorme erreur ! Les voir 20min puis enchainer sur le retour de Joel et Elly aurait bien plus intéressant... Et n'aurait pas rendu l'histoire de Bill et Franck moin touchante !

Sans parler qu'il y a beaucoup de défaut dans cette épisode, déjà la ville qui n'est en rien en ruine comparé au reste du monde, des infectés inexistant, un sort pour les personnages différents, etc...

Avec tout ces changements on se serait plus cru dans un épisode de "Little House on the Prairie" que de The Last of US... Et vu que la série fait mourir Bill, pas de dialogue entre Elly et Bill, de lien entre Bill et Joel, ni d'aide pour trouver une batterie à travers la ville au milieu des infectés, ... Bref des changements qui ralenti l'épisode, l'ont fait devenir long trop long, et même chiant par moment... Et même si certe l'épisode est touchant, l'histoire orignal du jeu était 100x plus captivante, mouvementé et intéressante !

C'est donc pour moi le 1er faux pas de cette série, avec un épisode raté, et donc une note juste sous la moyenne (4)… Expand

I'm very divided with this episode. They put together a great story between two people but why did they have to change so much from the game? In the game Frank grew to hate Bill. The episode is practically a filler. If you take out the Bill and Jack part, Joel and Ellie's journey isn't missed. The letter makes no difference because the connection between Joel and Tess is greater.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Wow! I feel like this was an amazing departure from the game that was worth every minute of the screentime it was given. I love how the writers are using every opportunity to show us what the world has been like for the last 20 years -- What it means to survive in this world. It felt like a meditation on what it means to survive vs to flourish. They show us a picture of a life that is as good as it probably could be in this world. Bill was a survivor, but his character was so preoccupied with survival and the protection of what assets he had control of that he would not invite new joy into his life. And so, only by being in some way lovingly prodded to open himself up, he and Frank get to experience a better version of life together. The scene with the strawberries was a stellar way to show this. "I was never afraid before you came along." Absolutely wonderful sentiment that embodies what it means heal the injured child inside that is closed off to vulnerability because that's how he has to be to survive. I think that's what I really loved about this episode: it brought up so many central topics that are in the zeitgeist right now. Whether to take risks in order to keep engaging with the world has been a huge part of people's lives in the wake of the pandemic. The right to die/death with dignity movement is gaining steam as we increasingly become aware that what is humane for our pets we disallow for ourselves. Frank's death perfectly embodies that. No challenge to it, the show just interacts with the concept directly. The drama being gay is bound to be controversial in the US given the proportion that are fundamentalists. At least this way the story remains consumable to the homophobes by skipping this episode. That way they can get upset by other future episodes that tackle other gay relationships and what is like to be trans under an oppressive regime later after they are more invested. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I wouldn't change anything about the story except for some of the things that just felt like continuity disconnects. Like are they farming animals? Where does Bill get power to weld after his fuel's gone bad? Why was Bill opposed to making things look nicer? Dude plays music and lives in a place with clear aesthetic sensibilities. The whole part where Bill is shot just seemed out of place, like the tactical survivalist is just going to walk out into the openest part of the middle of the street and just stand there and shoot. Yeah. No. All in all it gets a 9 because it was absolutely touching and made me cry twice with its utter sweetness and for telling a story worth telling.… Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. para lo que hablan español, el episodio es malo, pero cautivador, no tiene peso en la trama y la interacción entre Joel, Ellie y Bill es nula, literalmente el final es lo único que importa, es una hora de episodio donde veremos un desarrollo que no llegas a nada y no aporta nada al resto de la serie, es mejor saltarte el episodio y no tendrás una consecuencia grave, solo es un episodio relleno que muestra a una pareja homosexual viviendo hasta que vuelvan viejo, además el no existe ningún conflicto, como en el juego que es basado, la diferencia mas notable es que Frank se largo y dejo una carta en una parte de la ciudad, donde menciona que se llevo la batería, también menciona que lo odiaba por no ir a explorar y temerle prefiriendo quedarse en un lugar seguro (en el juego).
En mi opinión pudo ser mejor hacer un episodio donde Bill conoce a Frank y a medida que abarca el episodio desarrollar los desacuerdo que tenia cada uno derivando el abandono de Frank en lugar donde se acogía Bill y posteriormente el suicido de Frank, pudo ser un episodio que tendría inclusión que nadie se molestaría pero
lamentablemente decidieron crear un episodio malo y sin sentido que si no le tomas importancia y prefieras ignorar lo que pasa realmente en el juego te podría sacar un lagrima por el trágico final, igualmente mi visión es que no es necesario que una serie sea igual que el juego puede usar la misma historia pero cambiando cierta cosas que no afecte a las tramas de la serie en general.
además, tengo otra cosas que aclarar es que Bill fue desperdiciado por crear una historia progre que solo fue diseñada para complacer a una minoría, además que podría apostar todo mi dinero que la gente que nunca pudo jugar a la entrega creerá que la historia de Bill y Frank será la misma en el juego.… Expand

This episode is the perfect example of a great adaptation. Yes, the TV show takes some freedom in the relationship of Bill and Frank but their reactions, dialogues and actions are exactly what B & F would do.

Heartfelt story and could have been a great standalone movie on it's own. Didn't mind the deviation from the game as IMO it would not have been that interesting of an adaptation on screen. In any case, a 1 to 1 adaptation of the games would be boring as **** If I'd want to experience the same story again I'd just play the games again.… Expand

I've played the last of us one 4 times since it came out in 2013, and this version of Bill and Frank is infinitely better then the games version. In the game Joel dosent learn jack **** from Bill. Bill is a paranoid pice of **** in the game, however in the show he goes from that to a loving and caring man. That's the journey that Joel needs to go down, and that's the point of Bill. He shows Joel that he can love again, for Bill he loved his husband for Joel he needs to learn how to love Ellie and accept her as a new daughter. This episode is crucial to bring Joel down this path. Not to mention that we also get a terrific non tragic queer romance story. I've seen this episode 4 time's, and it hasn't even been a week. This will go down as one of the best episodes in TV history, all the hate it's getting is just from angry homophobic **** How else would episode one and two be rated so high, and this episode so low? The only difference is one episode heavily shows queerness in a positive light and the other two don't.… Expand

Amazing episode, I would give it a 10 just to mess with all homophobic neanderthals out there. But the chapter itself deserves it, really good side story, really well told and very emotional (unless you are an homophobic neanderthal)

At first I wasn't sure why they devoted so much time to two of the characters shown in this episode. But I was drawn into their story which was very sweet and brought an understanding to what it would be like to survive an apocalypse. Hasta ahora la serie había tenido un inicio trepidante. Tanto el primer como segundo capítulo nos ponía en contexto y no nos faltaba la acción (algo importante en una serie de este estilo, ya que una de las cosas que nos emocionó del juegoHasta ahora la serie había tenido un inicio trepidante. Por el contrario, este tercer capítulo es un relleno al mas puro anime, me imagino en un futuro una recopilación de "The Last Of Us sin relleno", cosa que no debería ocurrir en una serie de este calibre.

No critico la intención de adentrarnos en la historia de Bill, por qué ocurren las cosas, que pasa por su cabeza, si no la duración que se le ha dado.

Es cierto que en el juego pasan "un poco por encima" y aquí se busca que entendamos todo, pero no puedes dedicar más de 1 hora a ello.

Por la duración, parece que en vez de una serie de supervivencia con infectados estaba viendo una novela romántica y no es la intención con la que se viene a esta serie.… Expand

absolutely LOVED the first game, and only the 1st game lol maybe 15 minutes into this episode I was eagerly hoping it would go back to Joel and Ellie. The plot stays the same so its still loyal to the game. The episode is about Bill and Frank more in-depth story, the end was kinda shocking for people who knew TLOU history.
