It's interesting and entertaining, but also saddening. Obi Wan, who killed Darth Maul and crippled Vader, is basically a normal person from a decade of skipping Jedi Leg Day, despite presumably hoping to train Luke. Obi Wan, who killed Darth Maul and crippled Vader, is basically a normal person from a decade of skipping Jedi Leg Day, despite presumably hoping to train Luke. Even though he previously crippled Darth Vader in the prequels, Darth Vader beats him like a child in this series. They face off, Kenobe 'nopes' and just runs away like a scared child. There are some giant holes in the plot as well, like when people are fleeing in a one way tunnel and the bad guy discovers the tunnel sometime later and somehow winds up on the other side of it to catch them as they exit. It's not bad as a star wars story, but as of 4 episodes it's weak as a Kenobe story and leaves Kenobe feeling like a secondary character. It's still entertaining though, which is why it's in the green, and its worth trying to see if you'll like it. This thing is in the red only in the sense of how high a bar it has to set.… Expand

The main focus of the first season is the conflict between Anakin and Obi-Wan, and the final episode brings the whole first season to a brilliant conclusion. Everything else besides this conflict is just "background music". Some episodes may be silly, not logical, full of cringe moments - it does not matter. All that matters is the conflict, the relationship between Anakin and Obi-Wan. And the way the last episode shows the final fight is heartbreaking. In this little scene we see the whole transformation of Anakin to Vader in all its tragic, in all its brutality. This outweighs all the other shortcomings of this season.

Besides that I want to address other topics:

1. Obi-Wan found his old strength and overcame his weakness. He now is even stronger than ever, because he could defeat Vader so very clearly and fundamentally - Vader had no chance and Obi-Wan could have killed him; but he is a Jedi and he walked away, nothing wrong with that. In other words: An older white man found his strength, overcame his weakness and is walking firmly in his future. There is nothing "woke" about this at all!

2. There is a scene, where Reva sees the unconscious Luke - and then sees herself in him. The picture of a white boy changes to the picture of a girl of color. This is also a strong symbol, this is also not "woke", on the contrary: it is inclusive in the best way! And then we see Leia, how she prepares a costume that resembles Obi-Wans costume very strongly. This is also a very nice scene and there is nothing wrong with it: Of course Leia can be another protagonist, why not? We have so much Luke Skywalker in the old movies. And it is also not "woke" that an older white man can be an inspiration for a young girl.

3.And then there is this scene with Vader and Palpatine, where Palpatine urges Vader to overcome his past. This is also a very powerful scene: We see the completion of the transformation from Anakin to Vader - and we see once again that Emperor Palpatine is truly the greatest movie-gaslighter of all times.

4. And finally "Hello there"...… Expand

I feared Disney messing this up, but the portrayal of Obi-Wan Kenobi in this stage of his life is refreshingly believable. He's now a Jedi past his prime and lacks belief in himself due to what has happened to him and his apprentice. He's a veteran of war, likely suffering PTSD and is world weary. Currently loving the bright eyed and bushy tailed young Leia, who's innocence and naivety about the Galaxy contrasts against Obi-Wan's nervous, suspicious and tired outlook. I'm definitely excited to see where the series goes. I'm hoping other fans realise that this series is not a hark back to the golden age of Obi-Wan in his prime, but a bridge in series showing how Ewan McGregor's Obi-Wan turns into Alec Guinness's… Expand

Terrific series through three episodes. McGregor is of course fantastic, but the rest of the cast is superb as well. Deborah Chow handles the directing chores capably. Looking forward to the final episodes down the stretch.

I love nearly everything about it. I have been hoping for this for quite awhile!. Kenobi and Vader are perfect. Leia could not be more amazing. Only issue is a couple chase scenes and the parkour scene, but those are minor quibbles. 10/10!

You’re not watching a movie, you watching a show where writers have time to let the story and characters develop. Some call Obi wan a coward for not acting in the first episode and some of the second and running away in the 3rd. You don’t understand how broken that man is after 10 YEARS of shutting himself off from the force and living with his demons. The portrayal of Obi wan is absolutely precede the and anything different would have been leaning away from the skywalker storyline. If you don’t have anything nice to say about the show leave it to the true Star Wars fans who understand the cannon to enjoy it and don’t ruin it for us.… Expand

If the Book of Boba Fett had been given this much love and care, I would have been very happy. I'm writing this review as I watch. I am writing this as a fan of the OT and the PT I did not care for the sequel trilogy. I have never seen any Star Wars Aniamted shows, so that's the sumamry of my perspective on the franchise.

Episode 1: It seems solid so far. There's a little goofiness with the chase scene involving Leia and her captors about 40 minutes in. You can really see the actors doing the chasing really trying their best to work with the dumb obstacles they were given to allow Leia to escape. Still not sure if Third Sister's intentions are overblown or not. Ewan Macgregor is great. 7/10 Episode 2: What do they have against bringing Nar Shadaa into the mvoies? Daiyu's basically Nar Shadaa, why not just give it a name fans will recognize? The jedi imposter was written too comedically, in my opinion. Another Leia chase scene where the adult can't catchh up her, actor has to clumsily bump into things to make it so Leia's actress can escape. I think the writers could've done better to allow her to slip away more believably. Nice reveal to the character at the end. 8/10

Episode 3: The opening is totally trailer bait. I dig it. "Have you ever been afraid of the dark? How does it feel when you turn on the light?" Ewan's the best. Wow, this planet looks just like California :D Obi-Wan's trauma and hallucinations make sense for his character. Ned-8 was about to smash some skulls with a hammer o_o I'm really glad Disney allowed Vader to be Vader and didn't sugarcoat him. "I am what you made me" Reiva nearly teared up when she saw the Jedi Order insignia on the wall. She was one of the younglings in the beginning. Clumsy writing toward the end though. Vader could've easily stopped them from rescuing Obi-Wan 7/10

All in all, I'm way more interested in this than the Book of Boba Fett, but not as excited as I was about The Mandalorian. I give this a solid 7.5/10 I'll round up to be optimistic, but some of the writing has been clumsy. I'm half-expecting Reiva to clumsily run into a tree branch in the tunnels to allow Leia to escape at the beginning of next episode though.… Expand

For all the knit picking by so called “fans”, I have found this series enjoyable.
Ewan McGregor has been as good as advertised. Moses Ingram has done a good job as the inquisitor, Reva. The return of Darth Vader, through the voice of JamesFor all the knit picking by so called “fans”, I have found this series enjoyable.
Ewan McGregor has been as good as advertised. Moses Ingram has done a good job as the inquisitor, Reva. The return of Darth Vader, through the voice of James Earl Jones and body of Hayden Christensen, has given me goosebumps. Director Deborah Chow has found a different way to make a scary character, even more menacing. The real star of this show has been 10-year-old Vivian Lyra Blair. She steals every scene she’s in. I love how she delivers every line, like she’s been doing this for years. The shows have been surprisingly short and it seems like the producers are trying to fit in a lot of information. There have been some minor plot holes.

There are two episodes left and it makes me sad. It’s been a wild ride.… Expand

Its exciting even though we know Ben Kenobi, luke, leia and anakin will survive. The universe is well thought of and the setting is great. Scenery is pure gold. I loved seeing Alderaan. Its the perfect follow up after ep3.

I’m writing this in response to one of the many review bomb reviews. 1. The first point was that Obi Wan was reduced to a lowlife Blaster Jockey. Huh Wonder why? The first point was that Obi Wan was reduced to a lowlife Blaster Jockey. Huh Wonder why? He’s gone 10 years without using the force, of course he’s not going to be the same Jedi he was! Was Old Ben the same as Obi-wan in the original trilogy? No, he wasn’t.

2. The second point made was The Inquisitors are obviously not “Sith”. Again, Duh. Sith operate under the rule of 2. If you’ve watched the prequels you know this. One master, One apprentice. In this series the two are Darth Vader and Darth Sidious. The Inquisitors aren’t actually Sith. 3. The Third point was Leia wasn’t like adult Leia. Um, yeah cuz she’s young Leia. She grows up between this series and the original trilogy. And you see bits and pieces of Adult Leia in how she absolutely roasts her cousin or in how she interacts with Obi Wan. Even if she does make some Bull-headed decisions, so does Adult Leia. Grow up and stop attacking a child. This is exactly what happened with Jake Lloyd and it needs to stop. 4. The final point was that The guy in the black suit obviously isn’t Vader. How so? Because he didn’t have an epic quick paced battle with all of his force abilities on display? Because he choked a few people and then tapped Lightsabers a few times? Hate to break it to you, but choking a few people and tapping lightsabers was all the original Vader did too. However, it’s still only rhe third episode calm down.

My point is that it’s actually a great show for those of us wjo actually have taste and enjoy Star Wars. All the fake fans who review bombed the show ith bad reviews have shown they are either racist or morons who don’t understand Star Wars at all. I’m sorry that you believe that the series didn’t meet your expectations. It definitely did what it was supposed to do and expanded the world of Star Wars. It answered one of my deepest questions about Star wars, which was why Leia was so sure that Obi-wan would help her in A New Hope. I know that I’ll enjoy the rest of the series and I hope you learn to as well.… Expand
