Happy to see Obi-wan back on the big screen. Love that more and more Star Wars stuff is being produced. Sure it’s not perfect, but it’s definitely entertaining and fun to watch.

Could have longer episodes, but a great way to connect PT Obi Wan to OT Obi Wan, and tie up a lot of loose ends. Great to see Christensen and McGregor getting the love they deserve

I'm really enjoying it so far! It's not perfect, but it doesn't have to be. It's fun. It's engaging. It continues the story of one of my favorite prequel/OT characters and does so in a respectful and compelling way.

Loving it so far. Not perfect, especially when there's action, but I love little Leia, Ewan is as good as ever, and Darth Vader is terrifying.

Script is on the weaker side and plot holes are definitely there. What alot of the negative reviews seem to not grasp is that Obi-wan is a broken man . It's not that he "forgot" how to use the force it's that he has cut himself off from it. It's like people forgot he is in hiding and being hunted. He is broken because he thought he killed his brother and watched a good friend die. As for the third sister she is cringy at best but it's because she is not a great actress. Absolutely amazing to watch for avid Star Wars fans filled with nostalgia moments but a strong story so far by itself. Each episode is like a movie with a high production value and great acting.

Epic story that emphasizes the dark times post imperial takeover.

There are plenty of references to tie to the series to past canon and legacy materials.

Seeing the interactions with a young Leia gives new insight into the relationship and the reason for the message we all remember... "you are our only hope". It feels like a return to form while also being inclusive to new ideas and stories that it chooses to tell. The acting is phenomenal, I commend the actress of young Leia in particular. Moses Ingram is knocking it out of the park as an inquisitor, and of course it’s a delight to see Ewan MacGregor and Hayden Christensen back in their iconic roles from Revenge of the Sith. Expand

The series explores the dark corners of one's own inner self and fleshed out what we know about these characters we've known for well over 40 years. The series' tone is dark, but the light of hope runs directly throughout.

Some overly sensitive viewers might have difficulties keeping up with the plot and find themselves sending racist and/or sexist messages to some of the actors - you know, how normal people behave.

All in all this series delivers as promised and brings back many long-time favorite characters and many of the actors that portrayed them in the past.

Nice to see Disney finally acknowledging the prequel era a little bit. Don't get me wrong, this still takes place in that post-RotS, pre-A New Hope safe space that Kathleen Kennedy seems absolutely terrified to move away from, but at the sameNice to see Disney finally acknowledging the prequel era a little bit. Don't get me wrong, this still takes place in that post-RotS, pre-A New Hope safe space that Kathleen Kennedy seems absolutely terrified to move away from, but at the same time it feels tailor-made for those who grew up with that overly-hated second trilogy. It's the Star Wars content I've been most looking forward to for some time now. My favorite character in this massive, media-spanning franchise has always been Obi-Wan, and given what a tiny part he had in the OT that is in no small part due to Ewan McGregor's performance. So getting to see him step back into that role, alongside other returning faces from those same movies, hit all the right nostalgic notes for me while also providing a story with some actual significance in the canon due to the way it shows how the legendary Jedi went from being the broken man we saw at the end of Episode III to the reinvigorated wise mentor who would lead Luke on the first steps of his journey in Episode IV.

So this isn't just dusting off a fan favorite for a quick good time Solo-style, but actually provides the last essential piece of history for one of the franchise's most important personas. Kenobi's entire arc here sees him forced to face the demons of his past in a struggle that's as much internal as it is external. A conflict that ultimately allows him to rediscover a sense of peace, understanding, and his faith. It carries profound themes of self-forgiveness (particularly if what happened wasn't truly your fault), letting go of trauma, and forging a new, healthier path. I hear a lot of people complaining about Third Sister Reva, but while it may be a bit redundant her inclusion really helps to hammer that message home even further.

All the underlying depth of its subtext wouldn't mean much however if the miniseries wasn't fun to watch. Luckily the core dynamic between the titular hero and the child-aged version of a very familiar princess is absolutely charming, and there were still plenty of tense moments that had my heart skipping a beat despite the fact that its prequel nature meant I knew who was in real danger or not. This period in the saga is also excellently brought to life with an appropriate tone of hopelessness and desperation similar to Rogue One as the good people in the galaxy far, far away are forced into hiding or subjugation to survive being hunted.

By far the greatest source of excitement though has got to be Darth Vader. It's been touted across countless films, shows, and literature how those under the Empire's rule lived in complete terror of his immense power, but this is the first piece of the fiction I've come across that's allowed us to see it for ourselves. The Sith lord is simply terrifying here, performing feats straight out of The Force Unleashed video game. Something made all the sweeter thanks to the unfairly treated Hayden Christensen coming back to don the iconic helmet. The action is of a grittier nature than we typically get from the brand as well, with lightsabers getting forsaken for some old fashioned fisticuffs and displays of the force that are more massive and bombastic than anything in any of the 9 films prior.

It's refreshing to receive a project that seems built from the ground up for the portion of the community that's been largely ignored since George Lucas sold the rights to his space opera baby. Especially since it provides the final vital chapter in the history of its protagonist. Those "fans" who have been upset about everything since the first two-thirds of Return of the Jedi are better off passing, as this serves as a continuation to a part of the saga they have no appreciation for anyways. Yet, for those of us who actually like Star Wars? There are a few minor niggles with things like characters inexplicably choosing to not wipe out certain threats or how apparently taking a laser sword to the gut isn't fatal anymore, but at long last we have been given the full picture of Obi-Wan's life, and that is worth celebrating.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. A dumb episode, shoddy worldbuilding, and some odd choices in terms of production value aside, this is a fantastic show. A wonderful atmosphere, great characters, great action when it occurs (usually), great acting, and an emotional story are what make this show fantastic. Obi-Wan and Leia are phenomenal. And you people should stop complaining about Reva, she is a fantastic character. And that final episode... Wow. Obi-Wan and Vader's emotional duel, and when Leia says the Anakin thing and everything is just tied together so beautifully and sadly... Oh my gosh, I'm tearing up. It certainly has flaws, but the writing, acting, and atmosphere make up for them beautifully.

This show is almost a slap in the face of the character Obi-Wan Kenobi. If you thought Kenobi had failed Anakin, then prepare yourself to see him fail as Luke's protector as well. But also prepare yourself to understand why Vader was right when he said in A New Hope "Your powers are weak old man". This Kenobi doesn't feel like a Jedi. He doesn't even act as a Jedi. And ten years since Revenge of the Sith he has really let himself go. You even get to understand, but at the same time be shocked, by the revelation as to why neither Luke or Leia were trained earlier as soon as they started to show signs of their Force abilities. Kenobi doesn't feel like a Jedi and the Inquisitors... Those definitely do not feel like anything. I honestly couldn't care less about Reva, or whatever is the axe she has to grind with Kenobi. If anything Reva serves no real purpose except to make Kenobi look bad at everything he does. There's nothing salvageable about this show. Nothing worth watching. No cameo appearance of Vader will save this disaster. If anything it will only ruin the lore and story of the original trilogy. If you have followed Star Wars from the beginning. If you have read or played most of the material. If you're a hardcore fan of Star Wars then the first thing you'll notice, if you don't let the hype blind you, is that this is not Star Wars. It may try to look like it, it may use the same names, but it's definitely not Star Wars. And to think that Disney/Lucasfilm could fail so miserably with a character that has so much potential. Was I surprised that the show was not good? No. Was I surprised that the show was this bad? A little. Yes. This is something only for those that are just blind followers of the character, that don't care at all what they're being given as long as they're being given something. Expand

Once again, it’s as though Disney carelessly handed over the beloved Star Wars series to a director who hasn’t even seen one installment. The story and writing lacks in depth, music is horrible (aside from Williams’s pieces) and many of the actors are laughable; Ewan is the only redeeming element. The high inquisitor doesn’t even make it past the second episode, no one knows who the hell Reva is or how she would even know Darth Vader is anakin. There are so many cheesy lines and cracked jokes, you’d think it’s a marvel movie. I honestly got to a point where I was laughing because it was all so absurd. No one catch a slow 10 year old girl, the chase scenes went on forever and apparently the force can now be used to read thoughts? I left a small pocket of hope for this series when I knew Ewan and Hayden would be making a comeback but now I don’t even want to watch the rest for fear that they’ll ruin Vader as well. Directors like Gareth Edwards (rogue one) have proved its not hard to make an authentic, worth while installment, so for the life of me I can’t figure out why Disney keeps handing the reigns to little known directors that have no idea what they’re doing. At this point, it’s all a pathetic cash grab and deeply disappointing. Expand
