Love it so far. McGregor as Obi-wan again is superb, he shows how the fall of his character and weight of his failures has ravaged his soul to the core.

Obi-Wan Kenobi has been one of the most anticipated Star Wars show for me. While I didn't like the prequels apart from Revenge of the Sith, I liked Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan and Hayden Christensen as Anakin. So I was thrilled when it wasObi-Wan Kenobi has been one of the most anticipated Star Wars show for me. While I didn't like the prequels apart from Revenge of the Sith, I liked Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan and Hayden Christensen as Anakin. So I was thrilled when it was revealed that both would be returning for this new series. So is the show a great return of the Jedi or dry like sand?

Ewan McGregor gives a great performance as Obi-Wan to the point it feels like he never left. I also love that the show gives him more layers by showing that his "killing" of Anakin has traumatized him. He is a very broken person at the beginning but we see him grow into the Obi-Wan we see in A New Hope. Hayden is great when he appears and I love the way he moves as Vader. It is exactly like the way Vader moved in the original trilogy. Although, it seems that Hayden and two other stuntmen helped portray Vader so it isn't entirely Hayden. Moreover, Hayden is still being dubbed over by James Earl Jones so he isn't in it much as Disney advertised which is a slight shame. There is also a child actress, Vivien Lyra Blair, who (minor spoilers) plays young Leia. Child actors can be very annoying but I found Vivien to be very good as a young Leia. She also has great chemistry with Ewan and the dynamic of their characters is one of the highlights of the show.

There are also some pretty fun action sequences in the show. I never thought I would see Obi-Wan in a shoot-out but it happened and it was pretty enjoyable. Every scene where Obi-Wan uses his lightsaber is stellar and his confrontation against Vader is wonderful to watch. Furthermore, Vader has some pretty awesome scenes too that show how scary he can be which was awesome. Additionally, the Obi-Wan theme by John Williams is great and the music score by Natalie Holt is good as well. There are some points in the show, especially episodes 2 and 6, where the cinematography is terrific. The show does answer some questions that I had which are how Leia knew Obi-Wan and how Obi-Wan knew Vader was Anakin. I find that it satisfyingly answers these.

Unfortunately, the show is butchered by its inconsistency. There are points where the show is great and then there are points where the show drops in quality. Sometimes we have great visuals with great sets and then we get a scene where it feels like they are running around in a construction area or bad CG. The writing and story are the same. We got great Obi-Wan character development, emotional conflict between him and Vader, and a heart-warming relationship between him and Leia. However, we also get everything awful about the show with the writing and inclusion of the character Reva. The pacing is quite bad, especially in the first half. The show ends up feeling like a 2-hour movie plot being extended to 5 hours and it's very noticeable with how much padding is in the show.

On that note, Reva's story takes up a lot of screen time in this show despite it being called Obi-Wan Kenobi. Her character is genuinely a nuisance since she is just always angry every time. Even the reason for why she is angry, which is revealed near the end, comes off as stupid. By the final episode, I wonder what was the point of her character and story as it didn't add anything to Obi-Wan's journey. I have nothing against the actress Moses Ingram as I think she is a fine actress. The problem is that she just doesn't fit the character. Inquisitors are meant to be fearsome and scary but Moses comes off as someone trying hard to be scary. It's a shame as there is a scary inquisitor in the grand inquisitor but he gets removed from the story very early on.

Overall, I have mixed feelings about the show. When the show just focuses on Obi-Wan and Vader then it delivers. It just squanders a lot of everything else. I honestly believe that this show would've been better as a movie. Nevertheless, I still think the show is still worth watching for Star Wars fans. It didn't end up being as amazing as hoped but it's still a good time and what fan would pass seeing Ewan and Hayden again? Those two are better than ever.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. While this Star Wars show does not have the budget of past movies, as of episode 3 it has succeeded to create convincing sets and while some may be annoyed by a little girls ability to escape from grown men, (This show is not just for adults) her acting ability is great. I reserve my final judgement until the show is over, but I am happy with the treatment and return of our cult characters Obi-wan and Vader. As long as future star wars is held to at least this bar, any star wars fan should be happy. Expand

Following these “fans” being called out by both the official Star Wars page and the lead actor, Ewan McGregor, this review bombing has taken place. This preface was necessary to provide context on the scene. The actual fans of this series are really enjoying it - me personally, as a huge Prequels fan, I am loving the callbacks to those movies and seeing Ewan McGregor back as the titular Kenobi once more. The series has a lot of great action sequences and dialogue throughout, and the core storyline is proving to be a very interesting one. I’ll admit my own bias in giving the series a 10/10, but even if I weren’t being blinded by my own nostalgia and love for this series and characters, I’d still probably give it an 8/10 so a high score from me regardless. Don’t be out off by the low user reviews and give it a shot yourself! Expand

The best series in the history of mankind!!!

+ The long-awaited sequel that I've been waiting for since childhood is finally out! (In many ways, what I fantasized over the years turned out to be prophetic, that is, in other words, everything that I drew in my head turned out to be realized on the screen by almost ~ 100%).
If I moved into the past and showed myself this continuation, then I would have just had a brain explosion.
+ (Plus pending) It would be better if at least 24 - 30 episodes came out this season.
- The first minus (subjective) of the series is that subsequent episodes may turn out to be tolerant or even feminist-oriented, I hope I'm wrong!!!
- The second negative (subjective) is that when the thugs tried to catch Leia, they did it very clumsily, it was clear that at first they didn’t even try to catch her seriously, and also the special effects also leave much to be desired, but still this is mine opinion and therefore the series should definitely receive at least a continuation and an excellent rating from the audience, at least I will hope so.
Good luck to everyone and thank you for reading my review to the end :)

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. While it isn’t a 100% smooth start, Obi-Wan Kenobi is good at what it does. Star Wars writing has always been cheesy, it’s part of the appeal. A man is not going to be in good shape after surviving a genocide and losing almost all of his close friends. This show is about him finding himself again, learning to overcome and grow stronger because of it. I don’t believe most of the negative reviews to be valid, it is not a perfect show by any means but so much of the criticisms are direct misunderstanding of the source material. We’re three episodes in at this point, let the story play out before you throw your fit. Expand

Do you think he’s just gonna be so happy to see Vader and so skilled bc he’s been out of practice for 10 years? He had to bury the thought of being a Jedi to save himself and Luke. And Reva is apart of our story. I see great things happening with her character. She is conflicted just like Anakin was which is a great piece to our puzzle. I’m sorry this isn’t the 100% cannon show you all wanted but there’s so much this story can tell us but us shaming it will not bring any of it to light. I want more series!! Anyway, when it comes to "Kenobi", I'm honestly just bored of Disney tapping into the same few characters and timelines for their original Star Wars shows. How many more times do I have to see Luke, Leia, Kenobi and Darth Vader on my screens? Can't y'all come up with some new characters and stories for once, perhaps in a different timeline?

The pacing of this show's plot is all over the place, the child actors (while delivering great performances) are given horrible scripts that make them sound like adults, and the planets are just dull at best. "Kenobi" just has no personality, and I don't see why this had to be its own thing. It's time to move on, Disney.

The plot/story is pretty good, as Obi-Wan Kenobi has to come out of hiding to save a young Leia from the Empire. However, Leia is just a trap for the Empire to get to Kenobi. It leads to a good story that doesn't slow down that much, and makes for a solid six-episode plot. The characters are really good in my opinion, other then a few flaws I have with some of them. The Third Sister/Reva is incredibly not my type of character, just not a character I could get into. The Grand Inquisitor was also RARELY used, and his only big spot was getting "killed" by The Third Sister/Reva and then coming back for less than a minute combined in the fifth and final episode. Other then that, good characters. Ewan is remarkable as Obi-Wan Kenobi, and the kid actors don't do bad at all, infact the kid actor for Leia is great. The music is good as always, Star Wars never really disappoints when it comes to music. And the scenary/backgrounds look good. Bleak when they should be bleak, and really cool looking at other times. The fight scenes are good when they happen, there's only...three lightsaber vs. lightsaber fights, and I think they're all entertaining. My favorite has to be the final episode fight between Obi-Wan and Vader. Overall this is a really good miniseries, and one of my favorites on Disney+ so far. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Fantastic show! Ewan McGregor's acting is top notch and really portrays the struggle of Jedi after order 66. The fight between Kenobi and Vader in ep.3 is quite good - Kenobi is severely out of practice and has been closed off from the force for a decade while Vader has only grown stronger during that time, he was toying with Kenobi to showcase his power and wanted to cause him as much pain as he suffered on Mustafar. Young Leia and Reva are also doing a fantastic job at portraying their characters! My only issue with the series is the slowmo chase scenes in ep. 1 & 2 and how Vader didn't just grab the loader droid & Kenobi with the force while they were escaping - that scene could have easily been better by making Vader's cape catch on fire after the explosion, distracting him long enough for Kenobi to get away. 9/10 overall but giving it a 10/10 to compensate for review bombing morons. DISCLAIMER - if you are unable to read between the lines and infer plot points or are generally a knuckle dragging idiot in real life, you probably won't like this show. Expand

Thank you for making this series! It is incredible. I hope to see many more movies and series around the prequel era and prior such as the Old Republic. Amazing Series!!!

Show is very good so far, I have a few nitpicks here and there but overall, the show is very good. Most of these bad reviews are clearly written by people who are mad a black woman is in the show, It's pretty sad unlike the show which is very good.

There appears to be a while online industry built up dependant on bashing Disney Star Wars and don't get me wrong, most of it is justified, but the negativity around this series simply isn't justified. I enjoyed it. There are things that aren't perfect with this show. No I don't particularly like the 3rd sister, she is a luke warm character and the acting is a bit "meh". I don't really appreciate the broken portrayal of obi-wan, but I get it, it's a decision made by the writers, just not one i really agree with. I also dislike the Little Leia storyline, it feels cheap and predictable. But come on, this is season 1, give it a break. There is a lot this has got right. Vader seems almost psychotic, written very well from the screen time he has had so far. I also enjoyed the world building, the landscapes and production values are really good. Characters feel grounded for the most part, products of their experiences. Like I said, there are things wrong with this series, but on balance it's good. After just 3 episodes, it's more engaging that the Mandalorian and so much better than the 3 films that Disney spat out. I'm honestly looking forward to this series giving us more. Expand

There are the few caveats here and there. The story doesn't always make sense, the action shots are less than quality, the Inquisitors are horribly portrayed, I'm not sure cannon is real now, the writing isn't the best a lot of the times, etc. In a regular tv show or movie these would be big problems, but this isn't a normal tv show or movie. It's Star Wars. Granted, if this was a new Star Wars movie with new characters and new plots it would be a big issue as well. But this isn't a new movie, this isn't about new characters. It's about Kenobi and Vader. Kenobi is awesome, and my gosh, Vader is AMAZING! Who cares about anything else? The only thing I wanted from this show was Kenobi and Vader and to see how they dealt with the last time they met. That's it. That's all I wanted. I don't care about the side characters, the story, the writing, nothing. Just Kenobi and Vader. AND IT DELIVERED. So far. Can't wait for the last three episodes! Expand
