NHL 10 is a very good game, but it misses big innovations. For the people who don’t own a ice-hockey game, this game is definitely worth buying. But for the people that already own NHL 09, this is only a small upgrade and not really worth the money.

What you end up with is an almost perfect game within the MetroidVania genre. If you have to mention something to blame the game, it is perhaps that more could have been added in the form of online or multiplayer action, but even that is a conscious choice. Developer Moon studios knows what it is good at and opts for that. While playing, you never feel that you are missing anything.

With the new Assassin’s Creed we find ourselves in the Caribbean with a new main character called Edward Kenway. Black Flag focuses on the sea battles we saw in the third game and continues with this, with some new additions. Overall, you’ll be busy for a while – 40 hours, give or take – but the story isn’t that compelling.

Arkane focuses again on stealth, but also gives the play more options for all-out warfare, with a plethora of guns, special powers, and upgrades. The stay on Blackreef Island can get a little bit repetitive after multiple time loops, but the island itself is beautifully crafted, and the ending makes it all worth it. Arkane once again hit it out of the park.

After two successful episodes, you truly start to care for Lee and Clementine. The events of Long Road Ahead are therefore hard to process but make an even greater impact than any of the other episodes. This is without a doubt the best episode so far!

The PS5 may not be the best place to play Hi-Fi Rush, since it seems to demand a lower latency than the regular Dualsense controllers offer. That being said, it's still an excellent game that's well worth your time. The music is top notch, the visuals are great and the gameplay is jam-packed with slick action. Just consider playing it on a different system or replacing your controller with one that's more high-end.

The combat doesn't always hold up, but it mostly does and it's fun when it works.

Max Payne 3 is not as revolutionary as the original, still this third-person shooter is one of the best games of 2012 so far. With it's phenomenal animations, suberb shoot-outs and it's breathtaking singleplayer it's a must have for shooterfans. Apart from a couple asperities as annoying checkpoints and a lack of variety, there is little to complain about Max Payne 3.

Fight Night Round 4 is absolutely the best boxing title on the market right now. The controls work perfectly and it all just looks really nice. Buy this game and get ready for some punches in the ring.

Final Fantasy XVI is a complete package with a refreshingly mature storyline, full of surprises that keeps raising the stakes. The switch to real-time fights is a daring step, but works most of the time, as long as the graphical effects don't blur what's going on. The game can be greatly adapted to facilitate those that mostly play for the story, but also those that are looking for a real challenge. The most epic fights, those between the Eikons, are visually impressive, but a bit too hands-off.

Two of the latest Uncharted games were brought to the PS5 (and later PC) with graphical improvements and DualSense support. Playing these games in 4K with HDR is a marvel. Sony has also finally figured out how to easily incorporate progress from the PS4 versions. However, the price structure is a mess and Sony really should sort that out, especially when the competition has made that so easy.

Gran Turismo 7 offers a great variety of cars, tracks and locations in glorious detail. It takes quite a long time to unlock it all though. The campaign has been replaced by menus in the cafe, but still requires (too) many activities before the entire game is unlocked and everything is available. However, what IS available is of the highest standards.

Nintendo has brought two unique games to the Switch with Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2, titles that should have been polished much earlier. Despite Nintendo’s magic, signs of aging are occasionally noticeable, but overall, it’s once again a delight on the Switch. The games look great and let you hop between planets with smooth, effortless gameplay.

The bottom line is that Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is a great game that is held back by some technical issues. MachineGames manages to distinguish itself in the genre by relying more on stealth than action, even if the AI ​​is not always that smart. We accept that, because when you are unraveling a mystery, nothing feels as good as that “A ha” moment. As a stealth game with action-packed emergency solutions, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is largely a triumph. Link's Awakening is back in all it's timeless glory. The main game hasn't aged a day and doesn't need any new gameplay experiences to convince anyone. It does profit from its quality of life changes, beautiful artstyle and memorable soundtrack.

Ubisoft has Prince of Persia returned with a completely new look and feel. The world of this metroidvania is huge and there is a lot to do. That also means a lot of running, climbing and fighting, but not a lot of depth unfortunately. Also there are a few missed opportunities. Still, this is a game you surely have to play this year.

The best Batman game by far. Rocksteady has perfected the formula by offering a beautiful open world, more than twenty hours of main story and a broad number of diverse activities. This game really lets the franchise end with a bang.

Saros turns bullet hell into a ruthless ballet, pushing you to play aggressively or get left behind. Set on a beautiful, hostile and ever-changing planet, it blends intense combat with a mysterious narrative that slowly pulls you in. It’s punishing but addictive.

Forza Motorsport 6 is one of the most astonishing racing games ever made. The game offers a complete Forza experience with lots of cars, tracks and race types. Unfortunately, the impressive weather system isn't dynamic, but that doesn't spoil the pleasure.

Both Donkey Kong and Diddy are making a huge comeback and will fill you up with a nostalgic feeling. This game is great to introduce newer generations with the classic Donkey Kong gameplay elements.
