Touhou: New World is a lovely action RPG that will keep you entertained as you fight through charming levels that are filled with excellent music. It occasionally gets repetitive but what's here is still nothing short of delightful, especially if you're a Touhou fan.

As a visual novel in 2017, The Silver Case is a huge disappointment. I definitely wouldn't recommend it to the average fan of the genre. However, if you're a Silver Case fan, the upgraded graphics and nostalgia factor should be enough to make it a worthy download.

League of Evil is a simplistic 2D platformer that's clearly inspired by Super Meat Boy. The thing is, without any unique gameplay hooks, it ends up being a mostly unappealing experience that pales in comparison to its genre counterparts.

When it comes to co-op puzzle platformers, REZ PLZ offers some fun mixed in with oodles of frustration so bring plenty of patience.

As a huge fan of Scribblenauts, I'm happy to be able to enjoy more word-based mayhem even though the party formula becomes repetitive quite fast due to a limited variety of mini-games. You'll at least get a few hours of fun out of Scribblenauts Showdown but long-time fans such as myself will crave more classic sandbox fun after they experience all it has to offer.

Touhou Genso Wanderer Reloaded is a fantastic interpretation of the Mystery Dungeon formula that genre fans are sure to love. However, if you already own the vanilla version and aren't a hardcore fan then you likely won't be impressed with this iteration.

I had a solid time with Koumajou Remilia II: Stranger's Requiem and it is a step-up from the first game but it doesn't really go above and beyond what you'd expect from 2D action games. It's certainly worth at least a playthrough, though, especially if you're a Touhou fan.

Tokyo Twilight Ghost Hunters: Daybreak Special Gigs is a quirky game that'll likely win you over if you have the patience to master its unconventional gameplay. If you do then bustin' will surely make you feel good.

Simply put, I absolutely love Blanc's aesthetics and gentle soundtrack but everything else about it is tedious and occasionally irritating.

Agatha Christie - Murder on the Orient Express is an impressively entertaining and unique spin on the classic mystery story even if our moustachioed hero, Hercule Poirot, is more serious than I'd like him to be.

Although the first game received a more substantial upgrade, FRONT MISSION 2: Remake is still a must-have SRPG for fans of the genre and at its core; it remains the superior of the 2 titles despite some minor missteps with the update.

Considering it takes a long time to start getting really good, God of War Sons of Sparta can test your patience but if you stick to it, you'll find one rewarding Metroidvania with oodles of content, gorgeous areas, and a solid variety of enemies and puzzles.

Biomutant is like the potato salad at a cookout. Some folks might like it and may even come back for seconds but nearly everyone else will wonder why the heck anyone would bother, especially because there's a huge stack of juicy steaks and burgers right there.

Yonder: The Cloud Catcher Chronicles delivers an imaginative and colourful atmosphere that's contained within its own unique fantasy land. It's great fun to explore, learn skills, complete quests, and befriend the residents and the local wildlife. I only wish there was a clearer sense of direction and the ability to traverse this wondrous land more efficiently.

Fallen Legion: Sins of an Empire is one of the most promising action RPGs that I've seen in a long time but its reliance on repetitive battles will surely wear down any genre fan's enthusiasm quicker than Cecille can say "Cassandra's Coil!"

If Knowledge is Power: Decades featured interesting and challenging questions and more steadily-paced gameplay then it would have been a solid trivia game. Instead, it plays it way too safe and the end result offers nothing more than a standard quiz show.

There's no denying that Xenon Racer is a very promising drift-focused racing game but it doesn't quite reach the high notes that its inspirations achieved 20 or so years ago. As a result, you'll be better off booting up your PS1 and replaying some classics.

When it comes to detective games, The Sinking City features some of the best gameplay that I've ever experienced in the genre. That being said, it could definitely use a lot more fine-tuning to iron out its less desirable qualities.
