Slowly working your way through Torn's mansion setting while gradually uncovering the strange plot makes for an immersive experience. However, its lack of challenge means that it's a lot less satisfying than it could have been.

Observing all the retro references in The VideoKid is only exciting for a few minutes. Once the novelty wears off, you're left with a shallow and repetitive take on a classic arcade game that doesn't hold up well for today's standards.

As a real-time strategy game, Anthill provides a simplistic and enjoyable formula that can be quite a hoot in short bursts.

I'm very happy that a game as cool as Ultracore didn't suffer the fate of being cancelled forever as playing it is a fantastic treat.

For better or worse, Samurai Shodown! 2 is exactly what you'd expect from a portable adaptation of the arcade fighting game.

Fans of old-school RPGs will get a kick out of Atom RPG and its Fallout-inspired campaign but it's best to stick with the PC version.

If you have the patience to persevere through its irritatingly tricky segments, Golden Force can be a rewarding fun-filled adventure.

It may not be the deepest or most strategic tower defense game out there but JARS' sense of randomness makes it rather enjoyable.

Killing Time: Resurrected is a curiosity from the past that makes for a great time capsule even if it isn't all that great of a game.

Although I was impressed by how solid its gameplay is, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl still feels like a hollow experience that could have been elevated to new heights if it featured additional modes and a more fleshed-out presentation complete with voice acting.

Jet Kave Adventure is full of rewarding scenarios but it could have definitely used more time in the oven before it released.

One of the most memorable and haunting games that I've ever played. Its VR implementation is amazing, too. If it didn't have annoying controls and lengthy monotonous segments then it could be a must-have PlayStation VR game.

SYNDUALITY Echo of Ada is one of the most unique and entertaining online games that I've ever played. At the same time, it can be an extremely frustrating experience if you don't play it carefully so be prepared to keep your eyes peeled during every mission.

Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - Martyr is a fun ARPG with a lot of cool things going for it such as its story and multiplayer features. However, it has a couple of glaring flaws, especially the post-game grind to unlock Warzones.

It's cool that Valkyrie Elysium exists given the series' sporadic history although I wish it offered a lot more to sink your teeth into. Sure, the combat is fun, especially when you exploit enemies' weaknesses but it definitely overstays its welcome after a handful of hours.

I can easily say that Breakout: Recharged is my favourite Atari Recharged game so far. From its tried-and-true core gameplay that has been duplicated countless times over the decades to its clever modernizations, it's a must-have for anyone who loves breaking bricks.

There's no denying that Just Cause 4 is a disappointing game with its generic gameplay and embarrassing graphics. There is some fun to be had in its action-packed world but I would have much rather played Renegade Ops 2 instead.

Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion is full of customisable mech combat and striking environments to explore. However, its gratifying combat is often contrasted with its sporadic pacing and generic story and characters. It's still a lot of fun, though, if you care about that sort of thing.

The Legend of Legacy HD Remastered offers a promising RPG formula that's unfortunately weighed down by frequent frustrations and unnecessary tedium. Thankfully, The Alliance Alive was born from this which is a vastly superior experience.

Poi: Explorer Edition is ultimately a Super Mario 64 clone that doesn't do much to stand out in the genre. That being said, its charming world and simplistic gameplay make it a great game for children or if you just want to wind down after a long day.

There's no denying that White Shadows' atmosphere and visuals are the stars of the show so I sincerely want to see the developers make a second game that hopefully offers a lot more substantial gameplay and perhaps a narrative that's open to some interpretation.

Dariusburst: Another Chronicle EX+ is a fantastic shoot 'em up with one of the most satisfying mechanics in the genre; F-Burst. On the other hand, I can't help but wish it received the same treatment as the far-superior Chronicle Saviours.

A King's Tale is an interesting tie-in to the popular yet polarizing Final Fantasy XV. Retro fans will probably despise it due to its awful interpretation of classic beat 'em ups but its simple gameplay is easily digestible for casual gamers.

I wanted to enjoy NeoGeo Pocket Color Selection Vol.2 a lot more than I did because I love retro game compilations. However, with a line-up that's sure to perplex and bore as opposed to entertain; it's tough to recommend this collection.

Although I love the original and most of the games that it inspired, I found Lunar Lander Beyond to ironically be a step back. Yes, it can still be a rewarding game but the sense of accomplishment will often only come after much frustration.
