In the end, Cracking Sands ends up being a title recommended to racing fans that are looking for a title with a wealth of content. That's pretty much all it has going for it as the visuals aren't particularly inspiring, the controls aren't as precise as I'd like, the weapons-based gameplay, while fun, can easily become too hectic.

I still think the underlying game in Brother in Arms 3 is worth playing, but there are a lot of potential players that will be instantly turned off by all the freemium aspects. Sadly, I can’t say I particularly blame them in this case.

If you have a iPhone 3G of previous device, and haven't played Sonic 2 before, don't let this be your first experience with the game.

While Treemaker is a lot of fun to play and really lovely to look at, I have to admit that I was disappointed with the lack of variety when it came to the appearance of the levels.

Movie tie-in's can sometimes be terrible games, rushed out to promote a movie, but this near-future robotic boxing game is reasonable– Mostly because robots fighting makes for a decent game.

Unless you're just dying to play Brick People with someone you're sharing a room with, though, multiplayer doesn't really make up for a lackluster single-player experience.

But... as far as fundamentals go, the fact that Judge Dredd vs. Zombies's combat rocks is a pretty big boon to what is otherwise a fairly competent, yet occasionally annoying game. The bad parts, and particularly the greedy free-to-play hooks and the barrage of Dredd-isms, are the big stains.

In the end, Ice Rage really is a game about tempered expectations. If you go into it expecting any kind of depth, prepare to be disappointed, as that's not the intent of this title. However, if you go into it knowing that it's a simple arcade hockey game, you should have a good time, particularly with its multiplayer.

The over-the-top weapons and graphical effects look great, but even those aren't implemented perfectly. Regardless, outside of those features you're still left with a competent arcade dual-stick shooter.

Still a fantastic game, and I had a great time playing it. What it's missing in variety it makes up for with heaps of charm, and for the amount of content you get, it's worth way more than a buck.

There are very few games like this on the App store, which makes it worth playing if you care even a little bit about the adventure genre. It'll make for a nice breath of fresh air between all those physics puzzlers out there.

Bop It! Smash isn't a bad game. It's a different take on a popular formula, albeit one that holds less appeal and staying power than the original.

Unfortunately, nice looking visuals aren't enough to propel Crash Birds Islands above the rest of the 3D platformers on iOS. For fans of platformers, Crash Birds certainly has enough to satisfy any itches for a new game. However, the iffy tilt-controls, suspect upgrade system and lackluster objectives do little to appeal to anyone else.

It’s a pity – Gravity Duck has such style, and the four-way-gravity gameplay holds a lot of potential for puzzle-solving. Unfortunately, unlocking unchallenging levels never feels like much of an accomplishment, and difficulty levels remain ho-hum throughout the entire game.

The balance at work in Fist Face Fight is one between challenge and length. It's further confused by an IAP system that doesn't take into account the lack of consumable uses. If you can set that aside, however, and rise to the challenge, there is a great lot of fun to be had.

At the end of the day, Kavinsky is a shiny, shallow, yet highly enjoyable romp through the 1980s and well worth picking up, especially considering that the game is totally free and there is no IAP to speak of.

Given the lack of competition, hockey fans looking for a mobile fix have little choice but to skate up for this one, and the core gameplay makes it more than worth your time and money. Still, I'd love to see less second period slacking and more third period hustle from these boys in the future.

RWBY: Arrowfell reminds me of a lot of WayForward’s other licensed games in that it’s amusing enough to play but not much more than that. It has a few interesting elements but nothing big enough to help the game stand out. It’s certainly better than the average licensed game, but it’s not up to the level of the developer’s best fare in this genre. RWBY fans should have a nice time, at least.

With a lot of great RPGs on the Switch to choose from, Mato Anomalies really shouldn’t be on anyone’s radar. That’s unfortunate, because there are a lot of promising elements here that could have added up to something neat. Execution is key, however, and that is where Mato Anomalies seems to fail in every category. Even without the significant performance issues, the underlying design flaws result in something that I really can’t recommend to anyone except those who enjoy picking apart misfires.

Keeping the legacy of Flash games alive is important, and in that sense I’m glad Rose & Camellia Collection exists. But its slight nature and clumsy controls make it hard to recommend with much vigor despite its charming presentation. Apart from adding some standard button controls I can’t imagine someone making a better Rose & Camellia collection than this, so if you loved the series on your computer back in the day by all means go for it. Otherwise, I’m not sure there’s enough here to chew on at the price it’s commanding.

It’s unfortunate that a niche series has finally made a return after so many years in a market that should be more receptive to its charms, only to make some big changes that significantly weaken the overall package. There’s still something to Endless Ocean Luminous, things you can’t find in this exact form anywhere else, but the loss of a properly designed world to explore and the sometimes tedious nature of the tasks it requires of you make this a difficult game to recommend with much vigor.

While I’m happy that this remake turned out better than expected and there is now an easily accessible way to play Snow Bros., Snow Bros. Special feels like it’s caught between the couch cushions of a straightforward re-issue and a full-blown revival. It’s a bit pricey to be the former and a bit light on features to be the latter. Snow Bros. fans who don’t mind dropping twenty bucks to have a decent remake will be happy with what they get here, but others may find there isn’t quite enough here to make a decent snowman.

Dusk Diver 2 builds on the original in its scope, visuals, and music, but is held back by its dungeons, quests, and some aspects of the combat. The Nintendo Switch version especially feels far too sluggish compared to the original. If you enjoyed Dusk Diver and want more of the world, Dusk Diver 2 on Switch is something you can consider when it gets a price drop. I would really recommend checking it out elsewhere though in its current state.

As it is, while Battlestone may provide you with a handful of hours of entertainment, you'll most likely reach a point where the game has nothing left to give.
