    Regardless of whether you choose to pay or grind it out, Judge Dredd vs Zombies provides several hours of shooting fun. Levels are short, but the sheer number of baddies and desire to unlock new boards will keep you interested for quite some time. Best Judge Dredd game ever? Sure seems like it.

    Rebellion and publisher Fuse need to make a decision: 1) make Judge Dredd vs. Zombies free and keep the current microtransaction system, 2) make the game a little more expensive and relax the progression restrictions a bit, or 3) keep it at the current price and relax the restrictions a lot. A simple, decently fun shooter of this caliber is worth a couple of bucks, but don't virtually lock already paying customers out of the experience for the sake of milking a few more dollars. That's disappointingly disingenuous and just plain unfair.

    But... as far as fundamentals go, the fact that Judge Dredd vs. Zombies's combat rocks is a pretty big boon to what is otherwise a fairly competent, yet occasionally annoying game. The bad parts, and particularly the greedy free-to-play hooks and the barrage of Dredd-isms, are the big stains.

    An incredibly tough game when you don't throw cash at it, Judge Dredd vs Zombies isn't worth the amount of money you have to spend to even the playing field.
