There's a lot to like about HyperParasite; bombastic action, smooth gunplay and literally thousands of 1980's pop culture references are all good fun. It's just a shame that its spoiled by an overly punishing roguelite structure, asking you to play thorough the same content again and again to make any noticeable progress, rendering the pacing of the game an interminable slog.- TheSixthAxis

Demon Gaze 2 expands and improves on everything from the first game, but when the first game was the video game equivalent of 3am fast food, though, those improvements don’t amount to a ground-breaking new title in the genre. Demon Gaze 2 is just a fairly decent, quirky JRPG.- TheSixthAxis

Flow Weavers is a well designed and enjoyable escape room puzzler that is perfectly suited to virtual reality but also suffers from some of the common issues that the format provides. While it doesn’t reach the genre heights of The Room: A Dark Matter, it offers a welcome change of setting with the emphasis on magic and dimensional teleportation well suited to the virtual world. This is a game that may well weave its magic on you, albeit for only a brief while.- TheSixthAxis

Evil Dead fans will love the amount of fan service on offer here, from the painstaking recreation of movie locations to Bruce Campbell’s goofy one-liners. However, when it comes to raw entertainment value, there’s an imbalance between the forces of good and evil. Playing as the survivors can be fun with friends but lacks the fun or variety of being an evildoer.- TheSixthAxis

Shut In is a short experience with a price to match and it's one that I mostly enjoyed. That said, I do have a particularly dark sense of humour and was able to separate the game from my own mental health struggles. The tone here is so mocking that it won’t be for everyone and I’m still in two minds as to whether it is hoping to raise awareness or simply using mental suffering for entertainment. I’m inclined to give it the benefit of the doubt, but your mileage may vary. Unlike our current situation, this is one period of isolation that isn’t mandatory.- TheSixthAxis

While the premise of using sound to traverse a mansion is great on paper in practice it eventually wears thin. The puzzles themselves aren’t too difficult, which could be a positive or negative depending on your view, and while the art style is great the story is far from interesting despite a set up that could have been used for a unique feeling thriller. If you are looking to play a puzzler for a few hours in VR then Blind could be worth a look at, but it’s far from an essential purchase.- TheSixthAxis

Sword Art Online: Lost Song is not a bad title, it’s simply an average one. Fans of the anime will be well served by it’s gentle adventuring and light tone, and the combat may attract those who enjoy the Musou games, but the likelihood will be that it’s not likely to be an experience you’ll remember in a few months time.- TheSixthAxis

The Princess Guide is an adorable, energetic game. It has gorgeous art and fun, well-written characters. It's just marred by grinding through messy and poorly designed combat. The AI squad-mates that are so integral to the action have terrible AI that make it impossible to consistently coordinate any of their actions. There's massive heart and care put into the narrative and visual design of The Princess Guide, but that is weighed down by how frustrating it is to play the game.- TheSixthAxis

Automachef is a bizarre yet interesting take on a cookery game. Saldy, a lot of what it has going for it also goes against it and feels a little off – excuse the pun – as a result.- TheSixthAxis

Nine years on from the original, Lumo 2 writes another love letter to 80s gaming. While it branches out from isometric gaming with its many enjoyable diversions and asides, they're connected by too many rooms and sections that suffer from your sluggish movement and imprecise platforming.- TheSixthAxis

There's some fun to be had in the dungeon crawling and battling an inventive array of enemies, but for the romance side of the game to be simultaneously funny, you have to be able to take the characters seriously, which unfortunately, I just couldn’t. The reliance on stereotypes and tongue-in-cheek narration turned this game into a comedy, but considering it as a romance game really lowers the quality of the entire game.- TheSixthAxis

It takes elements from other Milestone games such as the improved visuals and track deformation, adds a few unique features of its own and provides a perfectly acceptable dirt racing game experience. But, in a world where acceptable isn’t quite good enough, I wish more developers dipped their toes into the bike racing arena to really push Milestone to another level. MEAS2FWCTOVG is solid but uninspiring.- TheSixthAxis

It was a great concept, but the third instalment has disappointed. There really isn’t much depth to be found with Skate 3, due to the short career mode and lacking extra features.- TheSixthAxis

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is a great portrayal of the space-faring heroes and a good game. We encountered some annoying bugs that are hopefully alleviated with patches, and it's pretty linear, but this is an interstellar romp that you can enjoy across a few evenings.- TheSixthAxis

Forspoken was once one of the big reveals for the PS5 in 2020, but aside from using the SSD for open world magical parkour and the ultra quick fast travel, it is difficult to really see how it takes advantage of the latest console generation. The world of Athia looks good, and the combat is full of flashy magic, but there's no major side quests to divert from repetitive activities and a predictable main story.- TheSixthAxis

Astor: Blade of the Monolith offers an enjoyable action RPG experience with charming visuals and character design. However, with weak combat and a lack of things to see and do in the overworld, it’s an experience that will soon be forgotten.- TheSixthAxis

Underling Uprising is an exuberant old-school beat ‘em up throwback that absolutely nails the Saturday-morning-cartoon vibe, delivering a gloriously daft roster of player characters to boot. With a few friends sat on the same sofa, it’s the kind of loud, colourful, coin-op-like chaos that I have loved ever since playing Captain Commando in my local arcade. It’s just a shame that the input lag and framerate issues undermine much of what Dummy Dojo have achieved elsewhere. Still, provided there’s some solid post-launch polish, this has all the potential to be a cracking co-op party brawler.- TheSixthAxis

Ultimately, I have mixed feelings about Lawn Mowing Simulator. On the one hand, the gameplay gets a bit monotonous after the first few levels, and building up your company requires quite a bit of grinding. But, it does exactly what you would expect in terms of offering a game about mowing people's gardens, maximising the laid-back vibes of cutting grass with a powerful machine.- TheSixthAxis

For those who take the risk, there is a satisfying game to be enjoyed, mainly thanks to the simplistic yet diverse combat mechanics as well as drop in co-operative play. It's an ideal purchase for younger gamers anticipating the release of the film, but for anyone else, caution is advised.- TheSixthAxis

Dynasty Warriors Empires has always been for the die-hard fans. Those who enjoy the hack n’ slash combat and love adding their own tactical twist. Those wanting to direct custom campaigns and create their own musou legend. Even if DW9 left a sour taste, there’s some solace to be found here within its repurposed carcass, though redemption may still be lost.- TheSixthAxis

After the successes of both Stick of Truth and The Fractured But Whole, South Park: Snow Day! is a big change of pace that left me with mixed feelings. It's an enjoyable game with some nice ideas, but at the same time, you'll be left wondering was this it?- TheSixthAxis

There's a lot of things to like about Blair Witch, from the way it invokes the imagery of the original film, to some inventive camcorder puzzles and intriguing depictions of trauma, but most of these aspects aren't given the time to really develop. There's the skeleton of a really good horror-based walking sim here, and while it's still worth checking out for horror fans, it feels more like a first episode of a series rather than a standalone game. A missed opportunity; all Woody and no real Buzz.- TheSixthAxis

Slime Rancher 2 is filled with charm, joy and adorable creatures, but the fun doesn’t translate to every aspect of the gameplay. In seeking to expand and add content to the game, the developers have made what should have been an effortlessly delightful experience a somewhat monotonous one.- TheSixthAxis

Dustforce may look fabulous and has some really interesting ideas but the overall execution falls somewhat short of expectation. Though still enjoyable, the fiddly controls add an unnecessary amount of challenge, barring both younger audiences and casual platformer fans.- TheSixthAxis

A Tale of Paper is a great concept with an excellent presentation that’s slightly ruined by some poor platforming design. If you’re willing to stick it out though, you’ll be rewarded with a gorgeous world to explore and an equally captivating score.- TheSixthAxis

F1 Race Stars could have been wonderful, with just a couple of tweaks to the handling. However, the stoic adherance to sim-esque cornering has meant that the driving needs to be approached with far more care than it should, something that's at odds with the presentation, track design and the fact that at any point you could be blasted with a weapon from behind – and they're not blockable either.- TheSixthAxis

The boring story is filled with forgettable, two dimensional characters, and while there is passion between the main characters, it feels forced rather than natural. The gameplay isn’t ground-breaking either, but it is at least competent at delivering a mindless hack ‘n’ slash that is fun to play and worth a look.- TheSixthAxis

Putting the weirdness of the character skins to one side, is Muse Dash worth playing? If you can pick it for a couple of quid, sure. The mechanics are intriguing, the music is alright and there’s a fair amount or replayability, given the huge collection of songs available too. If you really want to collect all of the skins, there are a fair few to choose from, but too many of them will get you odd looks on your commute to work.- TheSixthAxis

Iris.Fall is a deliberately bite-sized experience and could easily be completed in a single sitting. Whether this amounts to value for money obviously depends on your perspective, but given the relative cost compared to a DVD or Blu-ray I think it is worth picking up to experience the artistry at hand here. The visual design is exemplary and the narrative is pleasing enough. Definitely a game that is worth a look if you like the art style and the idea of the puzzles, but be prepared for a couple of frustrating moments. Iris.Fall shouldn’t be left in the shadows.- TheSixthAxis

As you play more of Conan Exiles and access higher tier items, it becomes more and more clear that there was serious potential here. The survival aspects of the game are fun, provided survival is your thing, and it brings some new ideas and features to the table. The thrall system in particular is interesting, but ultimately fails in its execution. Considering its price, I can’t help but feel the package and its quality is a little lacking.- TheSixthAxis
