Monster Rancher 1 & 2 DX on PC manages to bring two PlayStation classics to a modern system, but the release lacks the polish it needs in features to be an easy recommendation at the asking price. Once some of the PC-specific control issues are addressed, it will be worth checking out. If you're new to Monster Rancher, this is a nice way to get into the series assuming you're ok with some dated mechanics and visuals, but are willing to try something unique.

Poison Control has some unique gameplay mechanics that I enjoyed but the controls, technical issues, and lack of polish during later stages hold it back from being an easy recommendation even to fans of NIS' other games.

Panorama Cotton is only essential for those who own every other Cotton release on PS4 and Nintendo Switch. It is a great showcase of what the Sega Mega Drive was capable of, but serves as more of a curiosity for those who already are into the world of Cotton.

Digimon World: Next Order isn't for everyone, and it might even disappoint Digimon fans hoping for another Cyber Sleuth, but it delivers for Nintendo Switch and Steam Deck owners who wanted a simulation RPG to play on the go. The asking price is a bit too high though for a re-release like this.

Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires should’ve been a DLC expansion to the base game and not a full-priced standalone release with how little it offers to musou fans right now. It also doesn’t help that the PS5 version has a lot of annoying screen tearing during gameplay.

Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires is already a cutdown release compared to the base game, but the Nintendo Switch version is definitely not worth your time and money in its current state. You’re better off buying Fire Emblem Warriors, Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends Definitive Edition, and Samurai Warriors 5 if you want a musou to play on the go.

Deadly Premonition 2 on PC is the most bare-bones port I've played so far, but it runs without any issues on Steam Deck while being massively improved over the Nintendo Switch version. If you have a Steam Deck and skipped the Switch release of this game, it is worth getting to play on Valve's handheld system.

In its current state after a few updates, Babylon’s Fall is worth trying through the demo before you should consider picking it up on a discount. Until the team can overhaul the progression system to ensure most things aren't unlocked after a dozen hours of playing, Babylon's Fall likely will continue to lose players early on. There is definitely potential here and a lot of the bosses and areas are worth experiencing, but it is hard to recommend at even half price right now unless you click with the combat in the demo and want to see more.

The King of Fighters 2002 Unlimited Match is essential for any fighting game fan who owns a PS4 and more than worth the asking price. Having already played a ton of The King of Fighters 2002 Unlimited Match through the Xbox Live Arcade release via backward compatibility on Xbox One, The King of Fighters 2002 Unlimited Match with rollback netcode (also on Steam) is an absolute joy. I hope SNK considers bringing spectating and more online features to The King of Fighters 2002 Unlimited Match on PS4 and Steam in the future because Code Mystics absolutely nailed it with this new PS4 release.

The Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown Yakuza Series Collaboration Pack DLC is definitely worth it for the music and Yakuza series costumes, but I hope Sega can improve the implementation of the music, costumes, and more within the base game. If you already play Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown, this is an easy recommendation.

Record of Lodoss War: Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth is a fantastic metroidvania with gorgeous animation and great gameplay. The PS5 version even makes use of the console's activity cards and haptic feedback making it a great version to consider. If you've been wanting a game to scratch your Castlevania: Symphony of the Night itch, this is it.

If you've been wanting a gorgeous fighting game with fantastic music, Granblue Fantasy: Versus - Legendary Edition offers great value for newcomers with the inclusion of all DLC characters. It sadly is a missed opportunity in its current state without any online improvements, and by not including the DLC stages or offering an upgrade path for existing owners.

Demon Gaze Extra for PC sees the PS Vita dungeon RPG finally arrive on Steam after all these years with a few new features, but the port is sadly bare-bones. Its high asking also doesn't help. Demon Gaze Extra is only worth grabbing right now if you're a fan of the developer and skipped the PS Vita original. Everyone else should wait for a discount.

Demon Gaze Extra is a great version of one of the PS Vita's better DRPGs. It is worth getting for fans of the genre, but not essential for those who played the PS Vita original. The added features and content are nice to have, but the asking price is a bit too high right now to warrant a double dip.

If you are a fan of both the Neptunia and Senran Kagura franchises, it is worth grabbing Neptunia X Senran Kagura: Ninja Wars on Steam. This isn't the best crossover game, and I was hoping for more from the Senran Kagura side, but the PC port is great. It runs brilliantly even on Steam Deck. If you already played it on PS4 though, the new difficulty options aren't enough to warrant a double dip. If you skipped the PS4 and recent Switch versions to play it at the best fidelity possible, the PC version will deliver.

Prinny Presents NIS Classics Volume 2 brings two games that haven't been ported to any system in years to both PC and Nintendo Switch. Makai Kingdom and ZHP are well worth checking out, but the real star of this collection is ZHP. They run fine on my laptop and Steam Deck, but I am disappointed in the lack of any quality of life improvements to make the games accessible to newcomers. As it stands, this collection is worth getting for fans of NIS games and those looking try out some of the developer's earlier gems.

If you've never played them before, the Deathsmiles I & II collection offers fantastic value for shoot 'em up fans. If you're new to the genre, the original Deathsmiles is a classic, and an essential. Replaying Deathsmiles on Steam Deck has been awesome, and hopefully City Connection brings more games like this to PC in the future.

The wait for The King of Fighters 98 Ultimate Match Final Edition on PS4 was long, but it has been worth it. Having experienced it on Steam already since the rollback update hit, KOF 98 Ultimate Match Final Edition is an essential for those looking to get into a classic KOF online on PS4. It is unfortunate that SNK did not include the arranged soundtrack and 3D background options to make this the most complete version though.

Azure Striker Gunvolt 3 is an excellent action platformer with great gameplay, visuals, and music. This entry shines on Xbox Series X thanks to rock solid performance and even a 120fps mode. While the story isn't memorable, the voice actors have done a good job bringing these characters to life, and I hope it gets DLC soon adding more gameplay modes or playable characters.

Shin-chan: Me and the Professor on Summer Vacation – The Endless Seven-Day Journey on PC is a bare-bones port, but one that is an absolute joy to play on Steam Deck without any issues. If you're ok with an experience that is basically the Switch version with crisper visuals and improved performance, this is an easy recommendation on Steam.

Prinny Presents NIS Classics Volume 3 on PC brings two more of the developer's older games to modern platforms with some visual improvements. La Pucelle: Ragnarok here includes a slew of improvements and new content never released in the West while Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure is well worth checking out for its soundtrack. Both games even run great on Steam Deck after a recent update fixed La Pucelle's issues.

Azure Striker Gunvolt 3 has finally hit Steam following its release on Nintendo Switch and Xbox platforms. The new PC port had a rough launch, but it has quickly been fixed up to be an easy recommendation for those looking for an excellent action platformer. It runs perfectly on Steam Deck now, and even supports 120fps if you have a supported display. I'm looking forward to the remaining updates and the epilogue in December.

Valkyrie Elysium has excellent combat and music, but is let down by its story. The PC version is good and it runs well on Steam Deck barring one issue which I hope will be addressed soon. Hopefully Square Enix continues to support this release and doesn't give up on the Valkyrie series going forward because there is a lot of potential here for future DLC or sequels.

Doraemon Story of Seasons: Friends of the Great Kingdom is an improvement over the original in just about every way. It is worth playing if you enjoy farming and life simulation games, and is one of the best in the genre on PlayStation right now. While it is disappointing that more wasn't done to enhance the visuals on PS5 like in the PC version, I can safely recommend this to Story of Seasons fans and to those looking to get into the genre.

Elevator Action Returns S-Tribute is an excellent release for fans of run and gun games with its accessibility options like stage select and rewind options. It also includes the original game accessible from the title screen making this a more compelling package for its asking price.

Cleopatra Fortune S-Tribute brings a home console version of an arcade classic to modern platforms, and it is well worth checking out if you enjoy falling block puzzlers with cute aesthetics. It is disappointing that the Mystery Mode requirements for levels are untranslated though.

In its current state, Akai Katana Shin is excellent with its superlative gameplay mechanics, but the lack of a tutorial and translation for the game selection hold it back. Hopefully these can be added in by the time it releases for consoles internationally. Right now, it is a joy to play on PC and Steam Deck.

Once the video options issue and the Japanese game version bug are addressed, it will be easier to recommend this release. Remote Play Together didn’t work for me on either device in Twin Cobra as of this writing.
