Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion feels like a blend of a remaster and a remake given how much it has improved, and it perfectly suits portable play. It is a surprisingly great experience on Nintendo Switch in handheld, and is a joy to play even on Steam Deck out of the box. We need more remasters like this from Square Enix in the future.- The Mako Reactor

If you were afraid of One Piece Odyssey being a typical anime licensed game trying to cash in on the name, don't be. The combat blends in Monster Hunter Stories 2-like rock paper scissors mechanics, positioning, One Piece abilities, and more with traditional turn-based mechanics to be more interesting than I expected. It looks great and has brilliant music. It has a few pacing issues and too many loading screens holding it back, but is an easy recommendation right now on PC with a good port.- The Mako Reactor

Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown may not be the big massive new game everyone hoped for, but Virtua Fighter is very much back and this fresh coat of paint does enough to complement the superb animations and core gameplay to make it a great package.- The Mako Reactor

Digimon Survive is an great visual novel that sprinkles in tactical RPG encounters, but it needs some optimization work on Nintendo Switch and to address the localization issues. Digimon Survive also makes good use of the Switch's features with touchscreen support and even HD Rumble adding to the experience. Hopefully Bandai Namco Entertainment can build on this for a sequel or new entry in the future.- The Mako Reactor

Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition is worth getting if you want to play this PS1 classic on Switch and are willing to play it with the classic graphical style. The soundtrack is legendary, and the new battle enhancement features make for a much nicer experience. The new graphical style is sadly a mixed bag with some nice model and font upgrades, but awful performance and ugly backgrounds.- The Mako Reactor

Actraiser Renaissance blends three different genres into a very unique experience with an amazing soundtrack. It has a few technical issues but the PC release is easily the best way to experience this remake of a classic. I’m glad that Square Enix decided to remake this for modern platforms, letting newcomers like myself play it.- The Mako Reactor

Gimmick Special Edition feels great to play, and makes a Sunsoft classic more accessible than ever before, but this release should've had better extras. For its asking price, this is an easy recommendation as long as you're ok with the challenge.- The Mako Reactor

Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition on PC feels more like an enhanced port offering both Chrono Cross and Radical Dreamers with some quality of life improvements on Steam. The classic graphical style is how I enjoyed Chrono Cross, and it has been a joy to finally experience this game after all these years. The new graphical style sadly has too many issues to bother with right now on any platform sadly. I've also enjoyed checking out Chrono Cross on Steam Deck over the last week or so where it runs quite well after some tweaking, and it's a great way to play it if you have the option.- The Mako Reactor

Space Invaders Invincible Collection is a great slice of the legendary series' history with varied games from across the decades, but it's a hard sell for newcomers thanks to the asking price.- The Mako Reactor

Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania is a fantastic addition to the Switch's library and one of the best party games on the system. While it has a few technical issues holding it back, it is still well worth your time.- The Mako Reactor

While SNK Vs Capcom: The Match of the Millennium being replaced by Crush Roller in this collection is disappointing, Neo Geo Pocket Color Selection Vol 1 Steam Edition is still great value and it shines thanks to Steam's Remote Play Together feature letting you play online with friends.- The Mako Reactor

Lost Judgment was a superlative experience, and The Kaito Files DLC proves that Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio's future is in good hands. While this DLC should've been cheaper on its own, combined with the other content in the Season Pass, it is well worth grabbing for any fan of Judgment and its characters. I hope we don't have to wait too long for another Judgment game and would love to see a full game with Kaito as the lead.- The Mako Reactor

Atelier Marie Remake: The Alchemist of Salburg and Atelier Marie Plus on Nintendo Switch feel like a perfect fit for Nintendo's hybrid system with the relaxed gameplay structure. While this release is a bit too expensive, it is definitely worth getting for Atelier fans thanks to its excellent music, great protagonist, and more.- The Mako Reactor

Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town on PS4 is a great way to experience the newest Story of Seasons game, but it should've been the definitive version with all DLC included right from the get go. While the game's own issues are still present here, Marvelous has done a good job with the PS4 version delivering smooth performance and improved load times compared to the Switch release.- The Mako Reactor

Grim Guardians: Demon Purge is one of Inti Creates' better releases, and it feels great to play on both Nintendo Switch and Steam Deck. The 2D action adventure also works well with Steam Remote Play Together for co-op.- The Mako Reactor

I'm glad M2 was the one handling Assault Suits Valken Declassified, but it feels a bit lacking compared to the developer's other re-issues on modern platforms. I still enjoyed my time with it as someone who never played it, and retro mecha action game fans will find a lot to like here.- The Mako Reactor

Void Terrarium Plus on PS5 is the definitive way to experience one of NIS' best releases in recent years but it feels like a missed opportunity thanks to a lack of any meaningful support for PS5 features like the DualSense controller and a lack of an upgrade path for existing PS4 owners.- The Mako Reactor

Sol Cresta has excellent core gameplay with a lot of depth, but it is held back by technical issues in its current state on Nintendo Switch. If PlatinumGames can improve on this base release through updates, Sol Cresta has the potential to be something special.- The Mako Reactor

Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series on PC is a great port that is worth playing if you want to try out Klonoa. It plays perfectly on Steam Deck out of the box as well making it the best way to play it on the go if you have the option. The option to disable bloom on PC also helps a lot among the other settings to tweak the experience depending on your setup.- The Mako Reactor

The Atelier Mysterious Trilogy Deluxe Pack brings together three of the more modern Atelier games into a single package with DLC and a few extras included making it great value for newcomers but not essential for those who played the games before on PS4 given the lack of save transfer and some other issues.- The Mako Reactor

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R on Xbox Series X is a gorgeous anime fighter packed with a huge and varied roster, but one that is let down by its online issues. It is going to be interesting to see how it evolves over time with DLC and updates, but it is an easy recommendation in its current state to those looking to play locally or offline with all the content available from the start.- The Mako Reactor

Atelier Marie Remake: The Alchemist of Salburg is a great remake of the first Atelier game that does more than just give an old game a fresh coat of paint. While this release is a bit overpriced, it is well-worth getting for fans of the Atelier series looking to sample the origins on PS5 with a fantastic protagonist.- The Mako Reactor

Nobunaga's Ambition: Awakening on PS5 looks and runs great and even plays very well, but it could've used a better tutorial for newcomers to the genre on console. In its current state, it was a good decision from Koei Tecmo to bring this game to the West with all updates and the expansion included from the start because we finally have a Nobunaga's Ambition game that is worth playing day one for the first time in many years.- The Mako Reactor

While there are some aspects that longtime fans of the series will be disappointed by, Samurai Warriors 5 is a polished and accessible entry in Koei Tecmo’s long-running series that is well worth your time with its gorgeous aesthetic, excellent soundtrack, and rock-solid performance on PS4 Pro and PS5.- The Mako Reactor

Cannon Dancer Osman is a fun action platformer with great set-pieces, but one that would've been an easier recommendation if it cost half of what it does right now. The lack of any extra content like a gallery or interviews with the team makes it disappointing even as a retro re-release.- The Mako Reactor
