Assassin’s Creed III Remastered aims high but really never stops falling short of what’s expected from an AAA port on Nintendo’s portable platform. Here’s to hoping that Ubisoft will take another stab at it in future.

Monster Rancher 1 & 2 DX is a disappointing package made worse by its presence on the Switch. The main gimmick has lost all its wonder and both games feel like the exact same experience, roughly slapped together by uninteresting and sparse gameplay.

There's a difference in price between this and Super Bomberman R but, in truth, neither of these games have managed to set the world alight. There's only so much you can go with walking vertically and horizontally while dropping bombs, and sadly it shows.

Ego Protocol: Remastered is a puzzle title which provides more irritation than it does satisfaction. The fiddly tile-sliding proves so much of a chore that there’s little to no motivation to go on and get three-star scores on each level.

It's another rushed effort from 2K Games which botches the launch of an eagerly anticipated title. It's so frustrating because WWE 2K18 is packed with content and could have been truly special, if a little more care had been applied. Maybe a patch can salvage this release but for now you want to avoid it.

Billiard is a run of the mill take on traditional billiards games. Unfortunately an uninspired presentation and lacklustre on the table gameplay mean that really only those truly desperate for some pool action on the Switch should consider this.

Skylanders Imaginators feels tired. A game that either needs a significant break or possible retirement, it's difficult to recommend to anyone but younger gamers - and parents would probably prefer to avoid it due to the additional character cost. There are plenty of other games more worthy of your cash, and if you desperately must have this game, buy it on another system where the starter pack will be cheaper.

It's a shame to report that this one's a disappointment. All of the excitement that should have been is replaced by turn-based u-turns, trying to get into a position to shoot the opponent. Avoid.

Everyone's played enough of this type of game by now in order to know what to expect. You're going to be ducking and diving in amongst enemy fire as you tear down waves of enemies coming from the top of the screen. There's just not quite enough here to make Xenoraid memorable.

The repetitive, grindy gameplay in Airheart – Tales of Broken Wings leaves something to be desired. Unless you’re a collector or a hardcore fan of the genre, you might be better off steering clear.

Monster Jam: Crush It! is a disappointment that takes many inspirations from great games yet doesn't quite nail any of them, resulting in an unsatisfying experience with monstrous control.

Glaive: Brick Breaker appears to be a game that exists just to pay homage to its inspiration, Brick Breaker. It never tries to be much more than that, and is content wallowing in mediocrity.

Cartoon Network Battle Crashers is so clearly aimed at young kids and the gameplay on offer here is fine for that audience but, on the whole, this is a dull brawler with little to offer. If you have no idea who Clarence is then you're probably better off looking elsewhere.

Forest Home looks, feels, and plays like a mobile game. It’s grindy, fairly unspectacular, and not challenging enough to hold your attention for long. At least it runs well?

Aeternoblade is a Metroidvania game that has an interesting plot on paper, sadly its gameplay and design leave a poorly executed and tedious game in its wake.

Paper Wars Cannon Fodder attempts a charming take on tower defence gameplay but unfortunately paper thin mechanics and lack of variation in content mean that this game fails to hold the attention for long.

Wrestling Empire offers the career mode most wrestling fans are hoping for from a WWE game, but the standard of action inside the ring lets it down. Not quite ‘so bad it’s good’, the wrestling action is just frustrating to play.

Go Vacation boasts an impressive number of sporty mini-games, but sadly its focus on quantity over quality makes for an entirely forgettable experience.

Exorder had the potential to be great, but its technical difficulties, abysmal voice acting and frustrating gameplay make for a disappointing experience. While the core campaign requires plenty of skill and a solid strategy to beat, giving the game plenty of replayability, the unforgiving AI and overall poor design mean that you are more inclined to put the game down than try again. If you like fantasy and strategy titles, Exorder is worth a try, but only if you have copious amounts of patience.

Personality & Psychology Premium asks the tough questions, but it doesn't do much that you can't find for free on the internet.

Bouncy Bob is simplistic entertainment which doesn't really set the Switch alight. There's not really enough here to keep you coming back for more.

Despite an appropriately grim presentation and a fun take on co-operative multiplayer, Moonfall ultimate squanders its 2D Diablo-lite concept premise with its repetitive and uninspired hack 'n' slash combat.

Having 170 playable characters is a nice selling point but lack of depth in the gameplay and poor visual quality leaves Warriors Orochi 4 being a disappointing title rather than a grand epic.

Physical Contact: 2048 boasts a number of game modes and customisation options, but lacks those which matter the most. Though the various score-based levels and time-attack challenges are fun, they're soon completed, and when you can get the original mobile game for free, paying £4.49 for this will only ever be a highly-regrettable decision.

Like the skeletons that roam the maze, Otherworldly is a bare bones package that could perhaps benefit from a little more meat. If you thrive on blind panic, you may find some enjoyment. Frightening and flawed.

Lust for Darkness doesn’t really deliver what its trailer promises. The scares aren’t great, other than the jarring ‘caught’ noise on the short stealth section. With a short run-time, it’s an underwhelming experience.

Thunder Paw is an underwhelming and often frustrating platformer. Riddled with bottomless pits, unfairly placed enemies, and secret boxes that do literally nothing, this title squanders an interesting upgrade mechanic with a lacklustre overall package.

Unit 4 has many of the parts required for a competent platformer, but is severely let down by wayward physics and unrefined controls.

A tactics game that fails to be fun and engaging, Age of Resistance Tactics is The Dark Crystal without all of the charm or anything else that makes it special.

Fantasy Hero Unsigned Legacy should be an additive title with plenty to keep you coming back for countless hours. Sadly, problems throughout the title make this a hard one to love. You may find some enjoyment, but it likely won't be worth the trouble.

A simple concept stretched too thinly, Ski Sniper is satisfying when it hits its mark but clumsy controls and a lack of variety mean in the long-term this will only be keeping your attention if you truly have a vendetta against skiers.

A Gummy’s Life is frantic battling multiplayer action, but despite numerous game modes it all feels the same. It won’t keep you entertained for long.

While its camera movement and character portraits make an immediate impression, Strangers of the Power 3 has little to offer its mature audience. Gameplay is simple, visuals are stripped down, and there is no incentive to give it another go.

Cat Girl Without Salad: Amuse-Bouche originated as a joke, but ultimately ends up as a bore. Yes, there’s some fun to be found within those two ends of the spectrum, but those moments are fleeting and never quite justify your time spent with it.

Panty Party’s eShop listing has a warning that the game does not feature any hentai content, but I honestly feel like it would be better if it did; at least a hentai game has an obvious audience with a clear purpose. As it is now, this game just isn’t dumb enough or openly degenerate enough to have any real appeal. It’s a dumb story that takes itself too seriously to laugh at but not seriously enough to be engaged in, and the gameplay is too boring to keep from getting old after just a handful of chapters. I cannot imagine who Panty Party’s audience is because it seems to be trying to coast entirely on curiosity born from its bizarre high concept.

Robot Squad Simulator succeeds in temporarily making you feel like a bomb disposal expert one moment, only for the next moment to be more akin to crashing a cheap remote-control car.

RXN -Raijin- is filled with wasted potential - it looks great and sounds good, but its core gameplay is severely lacking. With so many better shmups available on the Switch, I cannot wholeheartedly recommend this game.

Though the core experience functions as intended, Mecha Storm doesn't do enough to distances itself from its mobile release and ends up falling flat on the Nintendo Switch.

It's certainly no Smash Bros, and even referring to it as Smash Bros light is a bit of a push. Guilt Battle Arena offers very simplistic action which is all-too unvaried and repetitive. There are better places to spend your eShop money.

There is a distinct lack of content in WildTrax Racing, and what little it has is barely road-worthy, with technical issues that restrict enjoyment and a lack of variety. My advice: Use alternative transport.

Hunting Simulator 2 starts off at a leisurely pace and continues in the same vein throughout. The areas are vast but the graphics are basic and for £45 you could have yourself a much more fun day out!

Littered with microtransactions, Galak-Z: Variant S quickly becomes too much to bear. Fortunately there are a lot of levels to take on, but you won't be able to smash through them all in a day unless you fancy getting your credit card out.

Seeds of Resilience is ultimately a sad disappointment. The core game is compelling, but its major drawbacks – the awkward UI and the sluggish performance – really hold it back from succeeding as an actual game, which is crucial.

Assault Gunners HD Edition just misses the mark on being a good title. What should be a title full of thrilling mech actions ends up being dead weight.

I really wanted to enjoy Dream Alone. Whilst it's clear that certain aspects are inspired by the likes of Super Meat Boy, the platforming elements just don't hold up as well. The unforgiving deaths and inability to see where you're going most of the time makes the whole experience a bit of a disappointment.

Down to Hell is a side-scrolling slasher in which you battle through hell to rescue a girl who previously saved you. But unless you feel brave enough to navigate some basic design flaws, you might be better off saving yourself.

Spartan Fist offers a unique, but ultimately flawed concept for a roguelike. The combat quickly becomes repetitive, leaving you hoping that good luck in the procedurally generated arenas will quickly lead you to the boss fights.

Sky Force Anniversary is a visually stunning game, but it can’t make up for the shallowness of its mechanics. With a superior sequel available on the Switch for the same price, it is hard to justify bothering with this release.

Yodanji manages to take Japanese Folklore monsters and turn them into a dull turn-based rogue-like. The random nature of the game completely undermines any interesting ideas and, unfortunately, the whole experience ends up falling a little flat as a result.

A deck-building game that’s forgotten to include a narrative behind it, Neoverse Trinity Edition doesn’t do a good job of making your fights feel meaningful. Only the most dedicated of strategy card game fans will find any joy here.

Clock Simulator is a somewhat challenging but often repetitive rhythm game that lacks the necessary motivation to keep it interesting for long. The addition of multiplayer also fails to give it the extra time it needs.

Nuclien attempts to offer up an addicting arcade puzzle game but unfortunately the experience is too boiled down and fails to offer up anything overly interesting to anyone not explicitly chasing the top spot on leader boards.

My Farm 2018 is a very basic game with core mechanics that like a mobile title. It lacks variation, and scores low for its disappointing and repetitive gameplay.

Chicken Assassin: Reloaded is a crime against Action-RPGs but a godsend to the clicker genre. It'll serve those who are into this type of game well, but even extensive customisation load outs won't help it appeal to everyone else.

LEGO Worlds is a game full of wasted potential. It has a very robust creation tool, but it is completely overshadowed by a repetitive and uninspired gameplay looping, and a very bad performance overall.

L.F.O mixes strong audio design with retro inspired graphics to great success, but unfortunately its basic gameplay lets it down dramatically.

Those looking for a solid substitute for Mario Strikers on Nintendo Switch won’t find it in PandaBall. It’s a confusing mish-mash of aesthetic charm and undercooked play mechanics, all of which ends up being frustrating for solo and co-op players alike.

Brakes Are For Losers lives up to the promise of being a totally different kind of racer, but sadly these differences are all too often more infuriating than they are fun.

Repetitive and limited to handheld mode due to touchscreens controls, Farm Expert 2018 looks like a lazy mobile port that doesn’t have much appeal to others than hardcore fans of the farming simulator genre.

The developers describe it as simple in its eShop listing, and Voxel Shot is certainly that. You won't be spending a lot of time playing this - it's better picked up in a Switch eShop sale.

The Bradwell Conspiracy had everything going for it but unfortunately fails to deliver. The narrative may be decent, but thanks to the awkward gameplay, technical issues, and frustrating user experience, it’s hard to recommend without some serious patching.

Super Hyperactive Ninja is a fast-paced, action-platformer that fails to keep up the pace. Although there is some fun to be had with a decent content load and speed running potential, there just isn’t enough to keep you motivated.

Shadow of the Loot Box begins promisingly, presenting itself as a clever knife that’s willing to cut through the bullshit of the Triple-A publisher economy. Unfortunately, it quickly descends into a repetitive and unfunny indie shooter.

A lack of charm and new ideas alongside a sluggish battle system means Chronus Arc is an RPG title truly stuck in the past. With so many better titles on the Nintendo Switch, this is a difficult game to recommend.

One Strike will make a good addition to any gathering of friends but don't expect much life from it as a solo experience.

RIOT – Civil Unrest is an interesting concept poorly executed, resulting in a tedious game that fails to achieve its own lofty aspirations. The distinction between police and protester is valid, but is executed in a way that leaves you wanting greater insight.

TorqueL has a unique mechanic and the potential to be a fun little game. But the physics that makes it interesting is the same thing that makes it barely playable. Hardcore gamers might get some fun and challenge from this, but it really does feel more like a game suited to mobile than a fully fledged console game.

Jolt Family Robot Racer attempts to add a competitive edge to the platforming formula, unfortunately a lack of progression and content holds back already lacklustre gameplay. With little to offer it's hard to recommend the game to anyone in particular but there's something promising about the concept of racing in a platforming style.

The ideas here have potential, but it’s potential that isn’t realised. With more polished puzzles or additional core mechanics, the game might have lived up to its initial promise, but as it is, Milo’s Quest is more like Milo’s Distraction.

Glyph styles itself as one type of genre but desperately wants to be thought of as another. This jamboree of various platforming ideas never quite works, even if some players might find joy in its tranquil collectible hunting.

A strictly linear love affair, Gakuen Club provides six very similar romance stories to get bored of. Pretty faces aren’t enough to hide the bland personalities of these cute boys, resulting in a stale experience that’s more chore than charming.

There’s the essence of a fun party game in Drink More Glurp, one that’s unfortunately let down by its own level of sheer randomness and unpredictability. It can be hilarious in a group, but competing in events is rarely fulfilling.

Spellbreak is the perfect example of a great game let down by lacklustre performance on the Nintendo Switch. Unique gameplay mechanics aside, being often unable to play the game due to technical issues limits any potential enjoyment to be found.

The core concept of Infestor has potential. It could have been a quirky puzzle platformer, but there’s no challenge here. It’s far too easy, and there’s too little variation in what you’re required to do. Unfortunately, I’m recommending you avoid possession.

Startide is a mess of failed potential. While there may be fun to be had, its issues in relation to control and handling, amongst other mishaps, put it in the not-recommended pile.

Ice Age: Scrat’s Nutty Adventure captures the essence of the movies and Scrat’s erratic mannerisms accurately, but the uninspiring platforming and awful performance make it a port worthy of extinction. So what killed the dinosaurs? In this case, the framerate.

Lazy Galaxy: Rebel Story takes on the classic SHMUP formula, adding story and new mechanics to try and take the genre to new heights. Sadly, the systems don’t divulge enough from the mold to create a truly unique experience.

Delta Squad offers a twin-stick shooter experience that falls short of expectations. With lacking story beats and boring gameplay it comes to the Nintendo Switch more dead on arrival than the zombies you will be slogging through.

MXGP3 is far more bare bones than it ought to be. It sure does offer some thrills in its racing, but the scale-backs for the Switch version and particularly the loss of the multiplayer modes are impossible to forgive.

Bury Me, My Love lacks the necessary amount of player interaction that it needs for its message of compassion for the plight of Syrian refugees. The story wasn’t engaging enough to retain the attention once the game reached the halfway mark.

Bad Writer is a short little step into the world of a struggling writer. While it is an accurate insight into the challenges of pursuing art, the metaphor doesn’t really translate into a fun gaming experience.

Windbound promises so much with beautiful Zelda-like visuals, but visuals alone do not make for a great game. The survival and rogue-like aspects detract from this game’s personality, and a miserable, repetitive search across each level make the game a bore.

Danger Mouse: The Danger Games is only going to appeal to avid fans of the children’s TV show on which it’s based. If you do pick it up, watch out for the microtransactions.

It’s got some visual polish, but with the steep price point, this 4 hour experience is well below par, and I struggle to recommend even for die hard fans of the genre.

As much as I wanted to enjoy Fin and the Ancient Mystery, I just couldn’t. Although its price point is pretty good, it’s hard to recommend it when there are so many other platformers on the Switch that offer much more enjoyment.

Gekido Kintaro’s Revenge is a very simple beat-em-up which probably didn’t warrant a physical release on Switch. Unfair gameplay, unsatisfying visuals and sloppy proofing work mean this is one to miss.

Hardcore Maze Cube makes a grave error when it mistakes unfair level design for challenging gameplay. Instead of providing the player with a difficult experience that’s enjoyable to overcome, it delivers a blundering punishment that is frustrating from start to finish.

God-like in intent but not in delivery, The Mims Beginning is not a game to spend your hard-earned time and money on. It does have some redeeming qualities, but not enough to overlook its shortcomings, of which there are many.

Stubbs the Zombie in Rebel Without a Pulse has some juvenile humour that can raise a smile but the repetitive combat, frustrating elements and bland graphics leave the player feeling like a zombie and looking for their own pulse.

While Maria the Witch seems slightly more complicated than your typical game, a better button outlay may have made it a lot less frustrating. I just wanted to be in control, or to feel in control, of Maria far more than I did. Now to go and lie down before I have nightmares of flying my broomstick into yet another wall...

Virtuous Western is very short and very easy. It sets up some vaguely interesting mechanics without ever doing anything challenging with them. If you want an easy way into speedrunning, this might be it; otherwise, steer well clear.

Humorous dialogue and bird customisation don’t do enough to stop SkateBIRD from falling far down the pecking order of skateboarding games available on Switch, with boring levels and controls that are janky and frustrating at best.

Tennis in the Face is a good game heavily stifled by borrowed ideas and an insultingly short length. Its cheap price may entice you to pick it up in between bigger releases, but at the rate the Switch's eShop is expanding, you're best off saving your pennies for something more worthwhile.

Survive! Mr Cube is too repetitive for a recommendation, and the time that you put in doesn't pay off with a satisfying conclusion.

Bouncy Bullets 2 fails to deliver on its premise. The central mechanic is never fully utilised and the game is far too fleeting for anything to have any sort of lasting impact, despite the unique concept behind it.

A timestamp of a transitional period for 3D platformers, Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysee may muster up nostalgia for original players, but the clunky, tedious platforming and missions reveal what a true fossil of the genre this entry has become.

Worms Rumble takes a few elements from the Worms series and recontextualizes them as a multiplayer-focused and action-based title. On top of failing in its most basic gameplay elements, the Switch version also features many annoying bugs.
