From a gameplay perspective, it is a fairly straightforward city builder, but the political and social dynamics are where the essence of the game created by 11 Bit Studios truly lies. Frostpunk 2 dismantles any notion of social utopia and shows how humans are inherently irrational beings, ready to self-destruct. The limitations imposed on the player’s decision-making power work perfectly within this framework, forcing the player to make difficult and uncomfortable decisions, offering a much more satisfying and refined level of strategy compared to traditional management games.
