Patapon 2 tries to push further the good experience that begun with it predecessor; sadly many of the innovative features that we learned to love are there no more, replaced by a mere reproduction of the same experience delivered from the original title. Fans should try it, but many others could just find it for what it is, more of the same.

Graphically confused, the sound is limited, the gameplay does not entertain for more than half an hour and longevity is short. You don’t replay the game because the character is not difficult to master and the extra level of difficulty is not enough to start the game again.

Velvet Assassin delivers a fresh point of view on the Second World War scenario, providing the player with more intense and human aspects than the average shooter. Sadly, the stealth gameplay is split between great level design and lousy A.I, while the overall experience feels a little bit too linear. Disappointing, since a deeper testing could've made a great game of this interesting concept.

Dynasty Warriors: Strikeforce is a good attempt to innovate with the franchise, introducing some RPG elements and, with a more flexible action component, the experience offered is quite new. The good multiplayer mode helps in the longevity department. Unfortunately the badly calibrated difficulty level makes the game more oriented to be played in cooperative mode, leaving the singleplayer disadvantaged.

This cinematic action game is the result of several action classics melted together, without any alchemy. The final product is indeed unpolished and unaccomplished, split between over-the-top quick time events, and repetitive hack’n’slashing. It doesn’t lack personality, it’s more a matter of unbalancing in the features.

Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars Director’s Cut is a sort of “Wiimake” of the 13 years old original version. This new version is now WiiMote-based, which is a good thing for a point-and-click game. Technically the game doesn’t match today standards, but gameplay is solid. Halo Wars brings the Halo atmosphere in the RTS world, thanks to great sounds, graphics, animations and charisma as well. The game completes the Halo FPS trilogy, unveiling unknown important storyline steps, but the lack of a deeper control layout and innovative ideas results in a superficial management of the troops , which will become frustrating in a lot of gameplay situations. House of the Dead Overkill is a funny “rail-line shooter”. New settings, charismatic characters and good graphics make the game really interesting. The title also has few problems; sometimes the frame-rate drops down and the bosses are too easy to beat. Anyway, Nintendo Wii has another good shooter in its collection.

If only Deadly Creatures could've been e little bit lengthier and varied, we would recommend it to every Wii owner eager to try a new experience. The experiment is successful, but it lacks any kind of re-playability, and it won't last long. Still, it's nice to see that new ideas do come up even in this next-gen, and they should be rewarded with a good try.

X-blades doesn’t succeed in delivering a rich offer. The gameplay is repetitive, and platforming doesn’t play out well. The long fights are usually boring, and the plethora of upgrades and different kinds of magic is not enough to make it fun. Add a terrible A.I., and what you get is a title that won’t be fun for anyone but hack’n’slash die-hard fans.

Wii debut of the Tenchu saga with Shadow Assassins is a good one, thanks to the team Acquire, creator of the original episode. Nevertheless the innovations introduced by the developer drive the game away from the typical stealth formula, limiting the possibilities given to the player. Tenchu: Shadow Assassins is a more linear game then the predecessors; even if the new ideas may seem interesting, the result is not fully convincing. Recommended more to newbies than fans, who may be let down by the change of direction.

Afro Samurai is a frustrating game. It is its gameplay, but mostly it is to see an opportunity like this, wasted with a superficial and hasty development. The contrast between sound and visual impact of the highest level on one hand, and poor and approximate gameplay on the other, is very strong and makes us feel to advise the title only to most hardcore fans of the series. Everyone else would better leave the game on the shelves.

The brand Football Manager takes a step forward in the MMOG Era. Compelling gameplay mechanics will keep soccer fans glued to their PCs. The interface and the 2D graphics might be a drawback for FIFA and PES fans, but if you like the managerial aspect of soccer, this is your game.

Big Bang Mini is a funny shooter, and it easily provides more quality than most of its competitors on NDS. A try before buying could be the right choice: to do this, just download the Demo available on the Wii.

Simanimals' general failure is not only about bugs, but it’s related to a generally disappointing gameplay experience. It’s obviously dedicated to a young public, but this doesn’t make allowance for a quality level so low. Our advice, if you want to stick with the franchise, is to get yourself a copy of “My Sims Kingdom”, which will surely satisfy you much more.

Star Ocean: Second Evolution is a good remake. This Square Enix RPG joint offers original new ideas, a nice combat system and two main characters. On the other side, the pace is slow, difficulty level is too high and casual encounters are way too many. If you love RPGs, and you're looking for something new on the combat side, you should try it.

Persona 4 has unique style and shows a great balancing between arcade and simulation. Despite some light gameplay issues, this episode will make almost every fan more than happy, mostly for the great narration... Technically outstanding and well localized, this could really be the Playstation 2 swan song.

Mushroom Men creates an original and living world but doesn't develop it with own standards. This brings to a good work but it draws on a game very similar to other action adventures or platforms come before. However the people who like these two genre can have fun whit this Pax's adventure on condition that they don't expect much more of a classic gameplay.
