  2. MotoGP 08 delivers a sub-par experience in every single aspect: graphics are shallow, controls are dull and unresponsive, and the gameplay is kinda boring. Still, it's one of the few "serious" racing games on Wii, but that's hardly gonna be a selling point.

Overall, this is a functional but unexciting trip to the races. Also, it isn't exactly easy on the eyes.

The gimmick of tilting the Wii Remote like handlebars is as engaging as this game gets. [Apr 2009, p.87]
  5. Although there are plenty of modes, the poor controls hamper any play value this title might have had.

MotoGP is one of the most popular titles in the driving panorama, however this Wii version hasn't been as lucky as the ones in PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. This is a lackluster product which could have hit the billboards.
  7. MotoGP certainly isn’t going to give Mario Kart Wii a run for its money and it’d be a real shame if Capcom actually made a profit off of this.

After reading the reveiws I was reluctant to purchase. Decided to take the plunge and was very surprised with the game. I thought the controls would be frustrating but found after a short time that they work well. Being abel to customise your set up for different tracks and conditions was fun. Have only been racing in the 125 class at this stage but have struggled to put the game away. Every one is bagging the graphics although not the best they are far from bad. I think the harsh ratings must be from serious gamers as for someone that just has a WII this is a very enjoyable game and keeps me entertained for hours. I hope other people aren't put off by the negative ratings and don't buy this game as i would have been dissappointed if i found out months later what a good game this is. Sure they could have done a few things better but what game is perfect. Looking forward to the next version of Moto gp. good luck al and enjoy your games. Expand

Playing this game in modern day I can say that the game actually holds up surprisingly well, levels are detailed, bikes perform as would be expected in simulation mode, gameplay is fast and AI surprisingly decent who also crash and make mistakes frequently during race. The one downside to this game is the graphics, whilst they are not terrible there is definitely a low Res feel to them and this was during the age of HD graphics, so I can see why people would have been annoyed by what appears to be a lack of effort in visuals. I can imagine if this game was released on HD Wii capable console it would have had a far greater score. The most common complaint I can see is about the controls, but in fact they work perfectly well, the steering is realistic, this is not a car racing game, you cannot hold the break around the corner to drift, the turning feels accurate and realistic. The other downside is multiplayer Carrer which appears to be lacking in some gameplay option features such as ability to see map and change weather, although in single race mode these features are still available. Overall the game is an 8 given the capability of Wii and the enjoyment from the gameplay. Expand

Maybe it's to do with people not sitting at the optimum angle of the sensor bar as I found this effected how the controls responded on screen. Sure it's not the prettiest game but I have seen worse on wii! All in all I have found it quite enjoyable but there is room for improvement (graphics, customisation etc) any rating under 5 I think is a travesty!! A half decent first attempt at motogp on wii. I think it woul be a shame if we didn't see this series appear on wii again due to some poor ratings! Expand

I found the default control very difficult without the Mariokart Steering Wheel, but with the "wheel" the bike's response was progressive and resposive. The GUI always expects the controller to be vertical which doesn't match the default in-game control scheme. As I'm a novice, when it comes to racing games, I haven't tried the advanced control schemes that add manual gear changing using the wiimote vertically with the knunchuk. The graphics are what I expected for the wii version (as compared to the PC) not good, but not so terrible they spoil the gameplay. Sound is ok but there's no background music when racing. It's no mario kart but I'm enjoying this game very much in arcade mode and don't regret buying it. Expand

The graphics are the same as the PS2 version. And although I did like the idea of the Wii Remote acting like the handlebars, it was very hard to control the bike. The career was good and I like how you start in the 125cc and get to the MotoGP. And finally the sounds were bad and I ended up turning the volume down to zero. If you are a huge MotoGP fan, you probably would get this game but I am a huge MotoGP fan as well and to be honest, I would recommend playing it on a PS3 or Xbox 360. Expand

I should have known when Capcom got the rights and handed it over to the team that cranked out the Namco versions, that I shouldn't expect much. Little did I realize that I would get so much less. The only great versions were made by Climax. Its too bad they will never again work on the MotoGP series. Expand
