    Gliding over Medici’s beautiful vistas and causing those awesome explosions are the only fun things in a soulless product known as Just Cause 3. But then again, you can just gaze at screenshots while listening to the game’s soundtrack.

    A soulless Portal copycat built around a cool gameplay mechanic, which would have flourished in a game by Double Fine or Valve. Superliminal has more originality than other copycats (see The Bradwell Conspiracy), but it’s absolutely devoid of substance and leaves you indifferent.

    10 years ago this game would have been lost in a crowd of its brethren – back then, everyone had a game with dusty streets, Saddam’s portraits and AKs. Today, serious first-person shooters like Insurgency are a rare beast, so give it a chance even if it’s far from perfect.

    Even online modes feel scaled back compared to previous SF games, and, combined with a hollow single-player campaign, this is a big letdown. Yes, Capcom will be releasing DLCs with new characters and locations, but this process will likely take years. Right now, SF5 does not justify its “full AAA” pricetag. The game has many merits, but it will take some time before it becomes the best one in the series.

    Incredipede is more like a virtual toy, rather than a game. While it's fun to play with weird creatures, you can't even begin to compare the experience with World of Goo or Armadillo Run. Physics simulation is nice, but the world of Incredipede really needs a set of plain, simple rules.

    I never put down a puzzle game before I complete it, but TRI broke me on level 12th out of 16. I got bored much earlier than that, though. Unfortunately, the game is not only beyond hardcore, it’s simply rude to the player. I doubt that most of you will appreciate this sort of masochistic experience.

    In Other Waters is an experimental crossbreed between a simple-hearted adventure game and an equally straightforward simulator of a futuristic ocean scientist. The adventure part is constrained by narrative conventions and oversimplified design, but the sim part is almost a meditative experience that might enthrall you for a few hours.

    In-game currency is the root of all evil in Fieldrunners 2. Useful bonuses cost a lot of money, and the game is very stingy when it comes to rewarding your victories. Want to triple your payout? Like a map on Facebook. Post about it on Twitter – you’ll get even more cash. And those who dislike this kind of “integration” with social networks will find the game unfairly tough.

    Final Fantasy 8 did not age well, and I would not recommend it as an introduction into JRPGs, but it does offer an interesting introspective at the history of this genre. Unfortunately, the remaster is quite shoddy, and there is no better official version than this.

    I can’t shake the feeling that Mojang lives (or, rather, lived before the Microsoft buyout) in the perpetual brainstorm mode, as if everyone on the development team shouts their suggestions, and then, instead of sifting through them and selecting the best ones, they just go ahead and cram everything in the final product. Maybe Minecraft actually benefited from this chaos, but for Scrolls, which has been stuck in a quagmire of half-baked ideas for two years, this approach brings nothing but death.

    GE2: Rage Burst reminds of both Monster Hunter and Freedom Wars. Its bestiary is huge, but the locations are small and plain-looking. The biggest disappointment is the lack of cross-platform multiplayer. Good luck finding opponents online, because there are also regional restrictions in play.

    Hack ‘n’ Slash is not an introduction to programming; if you’re a dummy, you’d better off playing the old classic Roboforge. But, if you do code, this game will make you ecstatic. Unlike Scribblenauts, where you being god removed all the challenge from the game, in Hack ‘n’ Slash you don’t have to invent your own adventures – the developers will keep you occupied.

    Standing out in a deluge of indie games, PixelJunk Shooter looks great – production-wise, everything, from graphics to controls, is much more refined and thought-out. But the gameplay itself is too linear and simplistic than the clever, mind-bending puzzles we have enjoyed over the last few years. They should have ported this one sooner.

    Little Hope is a slight improvement over Man of Medan. It’s still not scary at all, but at least it's less annoying than the first game. This time around, Supermassive wrote a better story, used decent camera angles, and purged awkward jokes (dumb "screamers" are still in there, though).

    This game is a definite downgrade from last year’s Infinite Warfare. More scripted scenes and QTE, less freedom, no side missions, but — hey! — medkits are back. Call of Duty: WWII proves yet again that World War II has run its course in video games. Let’s put it behind for good and get back to starfighters, cyborgs and laser rifles.
