    Mirror’s Edge Catalyst feels better in many aspects and delivers much more content than its predecessor. It still has some issues like the combat system or frustrating climbing areas, but it is still an impressive argument for its unique and fresh concept.

    Catalyst is not a flawless reboot, but it remains a very deep experience, filled with well-designed quests and interesting secondary activities; most of all, the game takes advantage of the environment in a clever way, making it strongly interactive for the players.

    Mirror’s Edge Catalyst is an exceptional sandbox. There’s nothing in the entire medium that feels quite as unique as being able to sprint, duck, and dive towards the horizon, making the most of the many varied paths on offer in this superbly sculpted playground. But when the game tries to be more than that, it begins to fall apart. Catalyst is certainly a step forward for Mirror’s Edge, but not the leap that it could be. If this is the return of Faith on a regular basis though, DICE have created the foundations for a very strong sequel indeed.

    The impression that Mirror's Edge Catalyst leaves is like a person with bones full of calcium, covered with weak flesh. A better implementation of story, characters, mission design and combat system should be the first priorities on a future sequel.

    Catalyst is a triumph of form over substance. At first the city looks huge, shiny and perfect but soon turns out to be just a lifeless, empty mockup, where you distinguish the districts mainly by background colors. The character development system feels artificial and redundant. The story and characters are so shallow and badly presented that I quickly lost any interest in them and focused on what the game does quite well – on parkour. [08/2016, p.60]

The feeling you get when you're in that loop of running, jumping, and noticing the next obstacle, and keeping up that momentum, is like nothing else. I would recommend that you only use the hints if you get stuck, because exploring and finding your way is half the fun. The devs have fixed the combat as well, and ties combat with your movement. The graphics are gorgeous and the game ran smoothly. The game is quite forgiving if you fall and the load times aren't that bad, which encourages exploration and makes some of the trial-and-error parts not too painful.

    Cons: I wish the city was a little more populated, and the NPC AIs are a bit unrealistic and lifeless. There was too much back tracking at first, but later on you can skip around to different bases.

    Boy, i do hope there's another sequel. Maybe in another 8 years?    … Expand

    The game runs fins on PC, the voice acting is not amazing but combined with the graphical fidelity provide an immersive experience. It feels a bit faster than the first game and it expands on the free running mechanic, which I enjoyed in the first game.
    I loved the original, hence my review is totally subjective, if you didn't like the first game then 'no - if you did, then a firm 'yes'.'    … Expand
