Outlast 2 has a sinister, foreboding ambience and offers more tension and horrifying moments than its predecessor. There is still some trial and error involved, aggravated by unpredictable enemy A.I. at times and insufficient enemy awareness feedback to the player, but overall this is a game I can wholeheartedly recommend to horror fans.

The presentation remains solid throughout and will appeal to newcomers to the franchise but long time fans will find themselves in all-too familiar ground. Telltale needs to turn auto pilot off and focus on advancing the genre it helped re-invent if they wish to remain a relevant studio going forward.

After 9 years of drought, there is a Hockey game on PC again! Old Time Hockey is an indie title flavored with brutal ‘70s taste. It provides arcade style gameplay and challenges us through a satisfying story mode. Hardcore fans certainly will enjoy it.

Vikings – Wolves of Midgard is a very conflicted game. On one hand, you have a well-executed, fast-paced, action-packed hack’n’slash gameplay. On the other hand, the game is ridden with frustrating and annoying mechanisms (inventory handling, leveling up restricted to altars etc.), and filled with bugs which may directly influence the experience (eg. force still command although the enemy may be out of melee range). Unfortunately, in this case the cons outweigh the pros by a wide margin, and we cannot recommend it to be your priority purchase.

Double Fine Productions delivers once again, with a solid remaster that stays faithful to the spirit and style of the original game.

Late Shift delivers on its premise. A true interactive movie where player decisions have an impact and meaningfully alter the narrative. The story will not impress genre buffs but it stands head and shoulders above Telltales’ efforts in the field and points to a very viable future for this beloved cult genre.

Utopia, together with the free “Banks” update, introduce a ton of much-desired additions to Stellaris’ core gameplay. It might need some more polish and balancing in order to truly shine, but it remains a solid step forward in the game’s journey to perfection.

Battle Brothers immersed me more than what you would expect from “just” a turn-based tactical RPG. I love its artistic approach, its mechanics to every last bit, and of course its unforgiving difficulty curve. I would not have it any other way. In this reviewer's humble opinion, this is easily the leading candidate for indie game of 2017.

Yooka-Laylee encompasses some modern design sensibilities and lots of nostalgia vibes, reminiscent of carefree, bygone eras. Some drawbacks hold it back from being a classic, but nevertheless its rich content and high fun factor will ring true to fans of the genre.

A charming premise and tongue-in-cheek exploitation writing, stumble on frustrating bugs and repetitive gameplay mechanics. There is value here for the dedicated 80’s exploitation cop film buffs but the kinks will have to be ironed out to make this game worth recommending to a broader public.

Styx: Shards of Darkness, while a solid stealth game, does not dare travel off the beaten path. Having said that, fans of the genre should definitely check it out.

High production values, excellent fun and the closest you will get to an interactive version of “Smokey and the Bandit” in this video game generation. A very pleasant surprise for Mafia fans, and the Herbalism side quest alone is worth the price of admission.

NieR: Automata is a top quality, intelligent and unique ARPG, that you may spend many exciting hours on it, even if some game design choices are obstacles from reaching a masterpiece status. If Square Enix finally decides to correct its hideous technical issues, then it is a must-buy.

If Mass Effect: Andromeda had been released a few years ago, it might have been appreciated for what it really is: a fun (if unoriginal) little space opera that offers lots of hours of gameplay. In the post-Witcher 3 era, however, all "Open-World RPG" games have to reach certain standards in order to fully earn our appreciation. In this regard, looking at Andromeda reveals shallow and juvenile writing, unreached potential and funky animations... and all this took 5 years and 40 million dollars to create.

Ghost Recon Wildlands does not really innovate. Main missions are well-designed and offer great variety and challenge, and although the story is rather predictable, it has great presentation and ample amounts of information to support it. It is, in its core, a true Tom Clancy title and worthy successor to the Ghost Recon series.

A game for our times.

While the very foundations of the game may be good, the overall execution is mediocre in all aspects at best. Plagued by netcode and performance issues, it is evident that the title was rushed out the door. The only thing left to do with Warhammer 40K: Eternal Crusade is to hope that Behaviour Interactive can somehow improve it and make it a much more enjoyable experience than what it is now.

We have again the same "last-gen" version of Fox Engine, while the console counterparts enjoy upgraded visuals. FIFA 17 delivers a nice touch with the new single-player mode “The Journey”. The switch to the Frostbite engine makes the game the most complete and beautiful sports-sim in the PC platform at the moment. However, we do feel EA Sports missed a few chances solving some persistent buggy behaviors (eg. player collisions).

This adventure game has nothing to be jealous of, compared to other games of equal or slightly larger budget. It clearly shows that Zima Software is ready to take a further step in the industry, which may result in a big hit.

The 5th episode of Hitman is a culmination of everything that was good and worthy from the beginning of the season till now. IO offers us a well balanced level, both in terms of gameplay and performance, and finally some love for the Contracts mode with the added Kill Conditions. We've almost reached the end of the line for the first season and we can't be more excited about the finale and inevitable cliffhanger.

Extraordinarily dark writing and an impeccable sense of time and place coupled with the greatest licensed video game soundtrack to date, make Mafia III a creative triumph. Its mechanical shortcomings will only apply to gamers concerned with Twitch heroics more than living through one of the most interesting time periods of recent history. A very solid recommendation.

Meanwhile, A-Force tests the skills of more advanced players, adding balance and value to another quality pinball offering.

With some balancing on ship stats, power ups and enemy AI, so that a skillful pilot is always rewarded, Redout can aspire to become like the AG racers of yore. For the time being, it's on the right track.

NBA 2K17 strives for perfection and, in many ways, it succeeds. It definitely is an impressive step forward, offering rich and deep game modes, exciting and realistic gameplay and stunning visuals.
