Fallout 4 stands out admirably as a generic (but still fun) Open-World/Sandbox game in a Post-Apocalyptic setting. It's the "Fallout" and "RPG" elements in it that are found quite lacking, with over-simplified Skill and Dialogue systems, shallow quest design, and almost no meaningful choices/consequences whatsoever.

Project Cars is not a bad racing game. It's just that as a racing simulator it has way too many flaws, especially in terms of realism during GPs. It abolishes the great chance of feeding an audience which remains hungry due to Codemasters' mistakes in its own F1 games. At the same time, it cannot base its possible success on the presence of other cars, which inevitably stay in the shadow of Formula A category.

Tides of Numenera would have made sense as a quiet, indie, choose-your-own-adventure/RPG hybrid set in a strange and fascinating world. A small, indie game for a niche audience. Usurping Torment’s sacred mantle to present a barely competent CRPG with heavy interactive novel trappings that fails to elicit any sort of emotional connection with the player or give any meaningful context to his agency or interactions with the game’s world, will not be taken lightly, or forgotten any time soon, by its backers, this writer included.

Detective Di: The Silk Rose Murders is a commendable first effort from Nupixo Games who seem to grasp what a traditional point and click adventure game should be. Even though its writing comes off mostly as a well-meaning but adolescently naïve and anime inspired take on the bleak cyberpunk dystopia towards which we are invariably headed, The Red Strings Club piques the player’s interest by constantly throwing a new gameplay mechanic at them, with its social engineering mini-game presenting a rewarding challenge that all cyberpunk enthusiasts will relish.

Trepang2 could have been a gem in the FPS genre, as it has an enviable combat mechanic, but the rest of the structure is mediocre. However, the foundations it lays are solid, so a potential sequel is capable of being a milestone for the genre, as was the case with its inspirator.

Sadly the final score has to be lower than originally expected, at least until the developers can fix the issues. Resident Evil 4: Ultimate HD Edition is essentially the great PC version we've been waiting for all these years, it is priced quite reasonably and, under normal conditions, I would recommend the game wholeheartedly to fans of the series and newcomers alike, but not until all the bugs have been squashed. Until then, keep your money in your pockets.

The Long Dark’s long-awaited story mode, ultimately fails to stand on its own. It rather serves as a tutorial for an extremely robust, utterly unforgiving and uncomfortably realistic extreme winter conditions survival simulator game, that transcends Unity’s limitations to deliver a unique experience aimed at a very narrow and specific audience. Future episodes may tweak the story mode into a cohesive entity that can stand on its own, but in its current state, the Long Dark is aimed exclusively at the hardcore survival enthusiast.

Unfortunately, DoW3 aims high and shoots low. Although its single-player campaign is sufficient enough, at its multiplayer aspect the game looks like an awkward cross-genre hybrid which tries to combine too many elements and fails to find a distinct identity of its own. Mountains of Madness is an adventure that clearly aims at two specific target groups: the fans of H.P. Lovecraft and the unrepentant fans of traditional point 'n' click adventures. It may not be able to satisfy either of them to the fullest, but it is an honest endeavor and the almost six hours it lasts will not be considered as wasted.

With eight more months of development, The Occupation could have been the indie breakout hit suggested by glimpses of its brilliant bones throughout the experience.Technical issues and a punishing save mechanic take the joy of experimentation and exploration away from a game that could have been so much more.

Smoke and Sacrifice is a remarkable Action-Adventure with beautiful aesthetics and cohesive crafting and itemization, blemished with backtracking and repetitive fetch quests. But, in all honesty, the most glaring flaw that becomes apparent about halfway through the story, in an otherwise enjoyable game, is the lack of really memorable, immersive moments, whether pertaining to enemy encounters, topography, or incentive to keep exploring.

The Masterplan is based on an interesting concept and is only held back by no particular effort put into creating interesting or diverse gameplay mechanics. Nevertheless, it remains quite an enjoyable game, as long as you are not expecting more than it can deliver.

The developers did a wonderful job at faithfully remastering a legacy game but the truth is that the original game wasn't that great. A great purchase for Sega fans and for those who want to own a piece of gaming's history but there are a lot of other great platformers out there.
