Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning is everything that you would expect from an epic fantasy game. There is an intriguing story full of magic and mystery, combat styles for all types of players, and an environment so enchanting it’s impossible not to want to live in it. While the remaster isn’t very different from the original in most aspects, it still makes for an enjoyable game and is a nice throwback to Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning.

If even the original game wasn't able to take that extra step and stand out among its competition, you shouldn’t expect that its remastered version will be able to accomplish this task. Nevertheless, Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning remains enjoyable despite its age. It is a "vintage" game, capable of entertaining for hours (and hours and hours and hours) with its classic fantasy story full of fantastic creatures, epic legends and fairy lands.

It’s a polished game, but it’s polished for 2012. It’s a solid RPG, and if you want a very well fleshed-out fantasy world, you’ll find joy here.

As of right now, Kingdoms of Amalur is a good introduction to a universe that doesn't have any other entries. The fluid combat is brought down a bit by overstuffed quest design and repetitive dungeon areas, and the front-to-back storyline is a little basic, but it offers a solid foundation to a world whose fate is once again uncertain.

I appreciate Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning for giving gamers who missed it the first time a chance to see what could have been, but ultimately, it’s a project that should’ve been left to its previous fate.

A remaster of a shamefully overlooked game. Beaming with colors and flexible build management, Kingdoms of Amalur offers an engaging RPG experience that is, however, somehow spoiled by a botched remaster that should just have been something more. [Issue#306]

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning's MMO beginnings are pretty obvious due to how generic the world and its lore is, and from how repetitive and… non-role-playing-game-esque it actually is. This is basically a simpler, more casual friendly version of Skyrim, and while definitely somewhat enjoyable, it's not exactly "the best RPG of 2012" as some have claimed. Even worse? The remaster of this generic MMO-ish "RPG" is a total lie. Put the original next to its new version, and it will be easy to assume that the developer just played with the contrast and saturation gliders a bit, and nothing more than that.

I spent about thirty hours in the game, but at the time it took me more than a hundred to finish the game on PC: it is certainly a long-lived title that allows you to have fun for a long time.
    - Immense, multifaceted and deep
    - Combat System still at the forefront
    - 60 fps that make everyone happy

All you get are better shadows and the ability to downscale, things most people could manage with ENB, SweetFX and their graphics card drivers. As a game, it's still fun if dated and has a decent story but if you've played the original the save your money. Expand

I wasn't really impressed with the classic edition when it came out in 2012 either, despite some big names like R.A. Salvatore being involved, the world was just way too bright and colorful for my taste, monsters looked rather cuddly and not scary, it felt more like a Zelda game (I prefer "dark" fantasy).
This reissue (it's too little to be called a remaster!) polishes some textures and adds a bit of lighting here and there, but it still looks like a product of the last decade: the game world is mostly empty, some textures are rather blurry, and the terrible PC controls and inventory management have not been touched at all, it was clearly designed with consoles in mind and then lazily ported over. The inventory system is complete garbage and combos in combat are atrocious to execute with mouse & keyboard that it's actually easier to just left-click your enemies to death DIABLO-style. And that's a pity, because combat really is KINGDOMS OF AMALUR: RECKONING 's strong suit.
Unlike THE WITCHER 3 and DIVINITY: ORIGINAL SIN 2, owners of the classic edition do NOT receive a free upgrade to the new version, they do get a 50% discount (at the moment), which still is too much.
The classic edition was average at best. this "reissue" is below average" it looks very outdated, controls are terrible and quite frankly if you own the classic edition there really is NO reason to purchase this game again: that bit of extra polish could have been done in a mod (I'm not into the modding scene, it might already have been done, check nexus).
If you don't own classic edition you might want to pass this one by as well, there are far better RPG options out there, some of which a lot cheaper by now!

Boring trash with the worst control system of any console port I've seen in a long time, impossible to get into.
