Similar to the way Batman: Arkham City built on the foundation of Arkham Asylum, Middle-earth: Shadow of War is bigger and more ambitious in scope than Shadow of Mordor, with great results. The way it expands the Nemesis system with far greater variety and fortress sieges makes even better use of the stand-out generated characters, and its battles with memorable uruk captains remain challenging all the way through the campaign and into the clever asynchronous multiplayer beyond.

It's better, bigger and more sophisticated than the predecessor almost everywhere - except for the controls and business model.

Providing thrilling gameplay, a flowing combat system, pleasing Tolkien landscape, challenging charismatic bosses, deeper story and a bigger end game mechanic to keep the player entertained for many many hours, today Middle Earth Shadow of War is one of the best games available in the third-person RPG-action genre.
  4. Middle-Earth: Shadow of War has everything that made Shadow of War great with improvements. It's a great sequel with tons of new content and great mechanics.

Nemesis is a one-hit wonder of a mechanic. Everything else in Middle-earth is mediocre at best, but Nemesis makes it all worthwhile, since every playthrough is truly unique – a feature none of its triple-A competitors can offer. [Issue#225, p.38]

Despite its “loose” treatment of established Tolkien Lore, Shadow of War manages to showcase once more why the Nemesis System is one of the greatest gaming innovations in recent memory. However, a title that manages to take the cancer that is microtransactions in a Single-Player game and metastasize it to the next level cannot, in all good conscience, be awarded a higher score than this.

At times entertaining, but for the most part Shadow of War is an exercise in frustration and exploitation. [Issue#268, p.62]

Played a couple of hours and I want to say that the feeling is like that of Knight Arkham. Mechanics, gameplay, design and pumping are brought to the ideal. As a bunch of cool-put videos, ktt sensibly reveal the plot, many characters, in the game you feel the scale. Graphics at the level of the first part, which is not very pleasing, but on the ultra-
settings The war is consistently showing 60 or more frames, which for such a-la slasher, very handy. If you thought about taking it or not, then boldly press the "buy" button and go to Mordor on the last trip of Taleon (I hope that this ring is enough to milk already).

Middle-earth™: Shadow of War™ is a good action game. If you enjoyed the first game, you will probably enjoy this too.

Best thing about this game is it's gameplay. The game doesn't look amazing, but it doesn't bother you when you play. I cannot say a lot about the story, since I haven't finished it yet, but so far it's been better than in the first one.

The game seems longer too, than it's predecessor. There are more areas and the story has more depth and different quest lines. Overall there is lot to do, so you won't be bored very easily in this game. The orcs, captains, warchiefs and overlords have really many different traits and features which makes the gameplay more interesting.

Shadow of War (the name could be less generic though) is one of the best games in 2017. The fact that it's based on Lord of the Rings lore makes it even more great.

The bad reputation is well deserved and has as to my experience nothing to do with loot boxes. Just play for more than one hour and you will experience one of the most frustrating single player games (when considering AAA games) ever. It may be by design but the enemies just won't get any less independently on how many of them (also captains) you slay. Look I like a challenge but this game is like an endless horde mode on some different maps sold as a full price game. And on top of that the enemies literally just SPAWN IN ON TOP OF YOU all the times when battling captains.

I'm really disappointed about those things in a game that could be lore rich (I don't even touch this subject because it has been covered before) and engaging but somehow I lose interest on the rest some hours in.

Great game by a good studio (Monolith) with a scummy publisher (WB)

    Pros-
    Great game
    Great story
    Nemesis system is amazing
Pit fight arenas for orcs after you cap a fortress is amazing.
    BRUZE!!!

    Cons-
    Map is kinda vague
Controls are setup for console/controller convenience
Sometimes the objective is not clear, for instance I tried to start a story quest but it kept redirecting me to kill this captain. I had to kill him to do it apparently.
It's still a gripe of mine that time passes in all regions not just the one you are in. This has resulted in me not having control/being able to help in missions. Some of my fave orcs get killed.

And the big one: P2W crates. Are they required? Not necessarily. Are they needed? Kinda, unless you farm like a mofo.

Game is 9/10, publisher is 1/10. Thats 10/10 right?

Is the game good? We don't know, and frnakly that's not the point.

Shady bussiness practices, and reselling the same game 4x + immersion breaking lootboxes in a singleplayer game.

**** that, I am pirating the game and If someone knows how to donate to the actual PROGRAMMERS let me know
