    If you’re looking for a great X-Men game, consider the enjoyable Legends series. The generic, thrown together experience known as X-Men: The Official Game is not what you’re looking for.

    Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard is a great concept that was executed very poorly and seems rushed. With more attention to detail such as better A.I., more fluid gameplay mechanics, multiplayer, and better visuals, D3 could've had a solid game on their hands.

    Beowulf does very little right and fails to capture the stylish action and mysticism of the film. The cut-scenes and sound are often way off, there's a great deal of choppiness when the game tries to shift between non-interactive and interactive play, and the inconsistency of the sound is unsettling.

    But it's all just so… Just pick your favorite synonym for bland or flat. The control is fine, some of the backdrops are cool, and particularly hectic firefights can deliver the energetic goods. But the skill shot system clashes badly with the overall theme, the campaign is way too short (and quite boring), the multiplayer is lackluster, and the AI isn't bright.

    What I once pegged as a sleeper hit has left me disappointed. X-Blades is riddled with potential, but thanks to a series of poor design choices, the game lacks the core fundamentals that made games like Devil May Cry and Heavenly Sword so great. The tiny environments, the tedious and boring combat, poor audio, and lackluster control feel really bring down what could've been a solid game.

    Reservoir Dogs has more major flaws regarding the core gameplay, and because it takes a more direct and linear approach, can't cover up the minor problems with open-ended adventure.

    Sonic Team really did do a good job with what they had at their disposal and this new release still maintains its charm. It really does. But that charm just isn't enough for us to ignore the negatives that rear their ugly heads from the get-go, and it's tough to recommend it with so many great PSN originals and PS1 classics.

    NeverDead rocks with the music and the visuals can be a treat but beyond that, it's not much fun. There are just too many problems that hinder one's enjoyment, and those problems are critical because they translate to faultless deaths.

    G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra certainly looks and even plays a little better on the next-gen systems, but this PS2 version should be avoided at all costs. There’s very little in the way of redeeming qualities, and just about every aspect of this production has its fair share of problems. There’s no need to elaborate further; just stay away.

    Planet 51 just doesn’t deliver. The entire production feels bare and a little watered down, and the technical hang-ups continue to persist throughout the game.

    I can clearly see a solid game here; it's just that it is really marred by a poor framerate and boring campaign structure. It doesn't offer much value as a single-player game, and with a barren online community, it most certainly doesn't have any multiplayer value to speak of.

    X-Men: Destiny trips and stumbles out of the gate, and never gets going. Way too many problems hold it back; the shortcomings range from control to story to presentation to technical elements, etc, etc, etc. It's just a really disappointing production and one that isn't even worth a rent.

    All in all, don't expect anywhere near the same caliber title from the PS2 version of Mercenaries 2. This is one of the sloppiest ports I've played in a long time, and you're better off saving your money towards a PlayStation 3 if you're looking for a next-gen experience.
