Mortal Kombat, sans a few irritating slip-ups, is exactly what the fans desire. Good control, the 2D winning formula, the great backdrops and settings, the huge roster (Kratos rules, by the way), the new strategy awarded by the super gauge, the many various modes; it all comes together in a very appealing package.

Sometimes a little scripting is needed to bring such an important historical event to life, but decisions made on the field, in the heat of combat are what won the war. The next time around, it'd be nice to see a bit more of that flexibility in the progression of the game.

Broken Age is exactly what Schafer fans expect, which makes it an automatic success. I wish it wasn't quite as minimalistic and subtle as it is but that's a minor complaint. At the very least, you will be treated to one of the more challenging and satisfying experiences of the generation. And yeah, it's a lot different than the satisfaction you get in nailing down an awesome KDR.

While Days Gone is a great time, it’s still essentially the same game. Glitchy gameplay issues and systems still exist. It has jarring difficulty spikes in certain places. And while the voice acting of the main cast is stellar, much of the acting of the NPCs is embarrassingly awful. These are minor gripes that doesn’t hurt your experience, just flaws that I think in 2025, should have been addressed.

Red Alert 3 boasts a deep single-player experience that allows you to take control of three separate nations, and watch a rather cool story unfold. The co-op experience and the solid visuals are also a pleasant surprise for an RTS game. And sure, the acting is stale, but that isn't enough to hurt Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3. Far Cry Primal is a healthy, well-designed, immensely immersive experiment within an established franchise. Bottom line is we need more developers to take such risks. The result is indeed a fantastic experience due to the blending of multiple genres - survival, adventure, action, first-person, strategy, etc. - and the retaining of a familiar, tried-and-true formula.

My Time at Portia is a great addition to the genre. It’s not perfect but it is unique. There are times when the game drags and while it looks really good and interesting, clipping is a pretty big issue. But it does have some cool world building that I haven’t really seen in the life sim rpg genre. There is a lot to do in the world and having building as the main focus is a nice change from farming. The game is borrowing from a well used formula but changes it just enough to make itself stand out from the crowd. If this genre is something you’re into, definitely give this one a go.
