The multiplayer mode also feels sort of tacked on; you and a friend can head out and take on the shuffling hordes, but it's basically the same experience.

If it isn't obvious by now, I'll make it painfully obvious here...this is a terrible game with no redeemable merits.

If you see it in a 99-cent bin somewhere...avoid it. If someone leaves it at your doorstep, call your local anti-terrorist organization and have forensics experts find out who would do such a heinous act. Yes, I'm being a bit harsh here, but so was Activision when they decided to create a game that offers absolutely no value, terrible gameplay, awful visuals, and poor audio and charge nearly full price for it.

The style, attitude, and ideas are all good, and the graphics aren't too bad. But the game is way too slow for a shooter, the faceless enemies never miss a shot, the AI is terrible, collision detectiion is iffy, and the extra features designed to let the game shine fall flat.

It has an interesting cast of characters, a lot of solid diversity in the environment, that patented and crisp anime artistry, and plenty of immersive depth. But on the downside, the combat feels awkward because you have to keep checking your combos, the item system is just plain ridiculous, the story is silly to the max, and despite that aforementioned variety, none of the locales really stand out.

A terrible game. It’s not fun, it’s infuriating, and it feels like a budget title that was rushed out the door. Unless you have an incredibly high tolerance for dying and repeating tasks, there’s no reason to spend another second thinking about this game.

Last Rebellion is a dull, witless, ugly, uninspired adventure with only glimpses of the quality and innovation that could’ve been obtained with a lot more work on the part of the designers.

Golden Axe: Beast Rider isn’t a very good game. It’s not quite as bad as some critics have claimed – it can be fun for a little while, and the combat system is relatively ambitious – but it’s certainly not worth your $60.

If you desperately want to try something new and are willing to put up with a totally disappointing production, maybe you'll want this when it drops down to a budget price.

So we're not sure what the purpose of Tony Hawk RIDE is. It's a product with a worthless peripheral, for sure. It's also running some sort of dated graphics engine transforming your powerhouse console into a Nintendo Wii.

Quantum Theory is the epitome of awful game design. Uninspired. Underdeveloped. Gray. Some of the worst story telling this generation has seen, coupled with some of the worst visuals you'll find on your beautiful PS3 or Xbox 360, in addition to level design that'll bore you the minute you lay your eyes on it.

What a letdown, considering that the version included with "Capcom Classics Collection" was arcade-perfect.

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra fails to deliver the goods on any conceivable level, and it’s simply because the production is mediocre in terms of both technicals and gameplay.

If you're willing to withstand the constant onslaught of glaring issues regarding the control, you might be able to revel in some of those aforementioned highlights, but it won't last. In the end, you'll find yourself wishing for the good ol' 16-bit days.

Aliens: Colonial Marines has little to nothing in the way of redeeming value.

Naughty Bear is just another game that features a great concept but fails miserably in execution, which is why you really shouldn't bother paying full pop for this one.

NBA Live is a colossal disappointment in more ways then one; the technical aspects are well below average, the physics and animations are some of the worst we’ve seen this year, the AI is mentally deficient, and worst of all, nothing about this feels real.

It could be okay for the true die-hards, but other than that, don’t waste your time.

Seriously though, how important are these extras if the game itself is so mind-numbingly underdeveloped?

It's got a great soundtrack and good charts, but the use of covers is painful to listen to, largely thanks to the singing - it's just that lackluster.

If I was sitting in a dentist’s office, had ten minutes to kill, and someone handed me Street Supremacy, I’d be happy to play it; that way I could be numb for the pain of getting a cavity filled.

007 Legends has its moments but they're too often lost beneath a continual onslaught of repetitive, often tedious, and definitely mindless action. The worst part is that this isn't faithful to the revered franchise; it's faithless.

The Golden Compass really isn't anything more than yet another game based on a movie that falls well shy of "quality." ‘sigh' The trend may never die.

Like the Frankenstein's monster of every straight-up action game you've played in the past few years. It has all the basic parts and it's kind of sewn together properly, but the end result is a broken, half-retarded thing that's a little unsteady on its feet.

We’re always looking to see if a game based on a movie hits its target audience (the fans, obviously), and Coraline misses the mark. There just isn’t enough to do, and when the best parts of the game aren’t interactive, the entire thing just feels superfluous.

There just doesn't seem to be any real effort involved in this production, and if that's the case, we probably shouldn't be rewarding poor performance. That's just the logical consumer talking.

Looney Tunes: Acme Arsenal is a seriously flawed game that continually stops the player from reveling in old-time cartoon entertainment.

Don’t bother with Godzilla because it’s a tedious, poorly produced, irritating, utterly underwhelming production that has only the bare minimum to offer die-hard followers of the franchise.

Metropolismania 2 is an often-charming and well put-together simulation, but the severe lack of depth, virtually non-existent technical appeal, exaggerated simplicity of the building process, and generally boring (and even tediously repetitive) structure kills any chance the game may have had.

Ford Racing: Off Road is a throwaway title that lacks any professional refinement that’s most necessary this day and age; just because it’s a PS2 game doesn’t change the fact that this is 2008. Developers have managed to do some pretty incredible things with that system, and while we understand this wasn’t a big-budget project, the amount of exhibited effort is very low.

For roughly fifteen dollars, you get 20 board games on a single blue-backed disc. That's a great value, assuming you're into board games and have a couple friends nearby.

In the end, The Shield really can't even cater to its target audience due to committing one cardinal sin: it couldn't recreate the stylish, immersive atmosphere of the show.

Everything about playing Power Gig: Rise of the SixString is either disappointing or irksome in some way.

Just stay far, far away from this game. If someone offers it to you for free, punch them in the nose repeatedly.

AMY lets you down in just about every possible category. The mechanics are bad, the Lana/Amy tandem is barely mediocre, the acting and writing is sub-par, the game design (from the ridiculous checkpoints/saving system to how the environment is laid out) is poor and immensely frustrating, and lastly, it just isn't scary.

Nothing more than a half-assed rush job, resulting in a monotonous, glitch-riddled, highly repetitive portable experience. The game looks like hell, the AI is terrible, the story is meaningless, and the controls just aren't right. There is some legitimate entertainment to be found in the multiplayer, but that aspect is so terribly plagued with technical mishaps and an overall ho-hum feeling that it's not reason enough to warrant a purchase.

Atrocious gameplay. Avoid this one at all costs, unless you're a huge Gundam fan. A huge, huge fan who hasn't played a video game since Tetris. But even then, no promises.

Women’s Volleyball Championship doesn’t do anything right. It does, however, fail miserably in a variety of different areas, and remains mediocre in the aspects where it’s not a total failure.

Look, there just isn’t anything to get excited about here.

But it doesn't hold up well in 2010 and if this genre is to have any future at all, it needs a big ol' update.

This terribly conceived, designed, and produced title isn't worth the cost of the plastic for the case. As we said in the intro, stay as far away from this as humanly possible.

Biker Mice From Mars is a total waste of time. We can't put it any more succinctly than that.

Then there’s the issue of the game’s awful instability: It’s glitchy, buggy, and just poorly put together. When you combine everything, you get a monumentally disappointing experience that really isn’t worth the price of admission. Plain ol’ nostalgia will only get you so far, Bloober Team.

Really, only the control is a possible saving grace but that’s not enough to compensate for the tremendously bad presentation, design, style, and overall gameplay.

It's not often we get something quite this bad. If you have a sense of humor when it comes to truly awful games, we might actually recommend you rent this one, because you'll be laughing yourself silly within a few minutes of play.

Might be worth the budget price tag if - repeat, if - you're a fan of the sport. It's simply not an accomplished enough title to be worth it for anyone else; there are just too many shortcomings, here.

So in the end, there are plenty of great games out there, and without any doubt, this definitely isn't one of them.

An okay effort, but it's hampered by average technicals, insane repetitiveness, outrageously frustrating preparation, and only fleeting moments of fun.

The storyline is completely uninteresting and suffers from pacing issues, every last battle feels identical - and that includes the lame boss encounters - and combat is all about jamming on the same buttons.

You could close your eyes and point to any spot on the shelf, and you'd have a 99.9% chance of coming up with something better than this. It won't satisfy fans of the sport, it won't open the eyes of non-fans, and it's nothing more than a slow, plodding, boring, often confusing, and downright pitiful production.

The game suffers from a decided lack of control, the fixed camera should’ve been completely reformatted, the environments are unappealing, the story isn’t worth following, and the gameplay as a whole falters big time.

A passable title, due entirely to the depth and relatively accurate race physics. Unfortunately, despite all the tuning and customizing you can do, the depth doesn't translate to a full-on simulation experience, especially because the physics aren't quite that realistic.

We have to give Crave props for trying to break the monotony by letting us create our own character and customize our own pad, and we do appreciate the different play areas, but this just doesn’t work as a video game.

RTL didn't do a bad job, but the final product is too bare-bones to recommend a purchase.

Do you like Guitar Hero's tracklist more, or Rock Band 2's? My personal choice is Guitar Hero: World Tour, as its louder and heavier soundtrack puts a bigger smile on my face than Rock Band 2's unusual mix.

SCORE International: Baja 1000 is, quite simply, a waste of anyone’s time, and that includes fans of the niche off-road racing genre.

Slow, and stupid. Fielders will inexplicably hold onto the ball before moving to throw it, which in turn causes a whole lot of infield hits.

We have no way of recommending this game, even if you’re desperate for some multiplayer summer sports fun. Beijing 2008 is another waste of money, but at the very least, this one doesn’t cost as much. Well, whatever. Bleh.

Hannah Montana: Spotlight World Tour may deliver the music the fans want, but as far as the gameplay goes, there are just too many problems for us to recommend a purchase, even for the most ardent Hannah follower.

I did expect lackluster technical aspects, but I also expected a fun, bouncy little adventure. Instead, I got nothing like that, so I ended up with a concept that didn’t fit the spirit of Garfield, and while the controls and design should be commended to a point, the rest is just too boring and flawed to bother with.

Army Men: Soldiers of Misfortune continues the tradition of disastrous video game productions. Way back when, I described the gameplay in Green Rogue as "the place good control goes to die." That same description can be used here.

Championship Paintball 2009 offers absolutely nothing in terms of fun or a rewarding experience. It is one of the most monotone, hollow gaming experiences available and you're better off putting your gaming money elsewhere.

The control can be iffy, a few of the event mechanics are horrendous, the technicals are sadly well under par, and the Campaign includes plenty of “what the hell am I doing this for?” moments. But you can wrap your brain around most of the gameplay, and that’s a definite plus. With multiple difficulty levels and the chance to include some buddies in your play time, you could have plenty of fun when the wintry weather keeps you inside.

Tale of Despereaux really tries. We’ll give it that. But with such loose and wonky control, a fixed camera that’s functional yet still problematic, and a repetitive adventure that grows tiresome all too soon, the game doesn’t deliver.

Trivial Pursuit may still be best experienced with a group of friends around the dining room table, but you won’t be able to deny that the virtual version offers some great fun and several modes that would be cumbersome to recreate in real life.

The smoothness, animation fluidity, accessibility, setup, and fun factor are all more than acceptable and despite those ridiculously long load times, we still wanted to play. And that, as far as we’re concerned, is a good sign.

Don’t overcomplicate things for a title like this; it’s just gonna fall flat on its face.

Cabela’s Outdoor Adventures is an okay production that has some nice elements and makes a valiant effort to be well worth the $40 price tag. It falls just a little shy.

There’s nothing laughably terrible about this effort but just about everything ranges from mediocre to average, which is painfully obvious within the first few minutes of play time. It’s just…so “meh.”

Sometimes it worked; sometimes it didn’t. And it felt downright silly to be flinging the controller all over the place during battle.

Monster Jam: Path to Destruction is a low-budget, niche title that might appeal to those who really love monster trucks, but even that's pushing it.

A decent, entertaining Mini that is a fine way to pass the time.

Given that kids are the primary target audience for Wicked Monster Blast!, the confusing and often difficult nature of the minigames sort of work against it. It's a shame though, since there really is some fun to be had with this game.

There are limitations to all hardware and perhaps we have to wait for the next generation before more strides can be taken in the realm of realism. But when you show no progress whatsoever and you appear content to sit on your laurels, the result is an outdated, unsatisfying simulator that is technically flawed and generally unimpressive.

It works well and is a generally fun concept to spend time with, but with such a thin number of options available within the game, while fun, it’s hard to imagine most people playing it more than a couple of times.

Burly Men at Sea will definitely charm you though. And although it can get repetitive if you try to get all the endings for the game, the stories are all well written and it’s exciting to see what happens next. Lots of color, fun music and sound, and witty writing bring this to a very well rounded game that is likely to please most people.

It’s simple, fast, brutal and great fun in short bursts, without any of the baggage that comes from other games in the genre. Anyone with $3 in their pocket looking for a challenging platform game in the vein of Super Meat Boy would be remiss in not checking this out.

Alteric probably is going to fall by the wayside when it’s all said and done. Which is a bit unfortunate. It has potential and if you give it a chance it’s a good way to kill a few hours with a challenging platformer if you’re into that kind of thing. There are issues with the controls and some of the level design could use improvement. But if you’re willing to work through all that you’ll find a nice little challenging game that is surprisingly fun. Even if it can be fairly frustrating at times.

If you’re hard up for some old school 2D platforming, and willing to put up with some notable shortcomings, Shiny might do the trick, but this is the kind of game that ends up as a PS Plus freebie sooner or later, and it’s probably best to wait until it does.

For the most part, I really did enjoy my time in Dungeon Rushers. The game is funny, has solid combat, a crafting system, and fully customizable skill tree for the whole party. If you’re looking for something you can just jump in and out of, it’s certainly not a bad game and it’s at its best in bite sized gaming.

I enjoyed Through the Woods even though I’m sure there are quite a few people who won’t. This short adventure is driven by a neat narrative and great atmosphere even if the delivery isn’t always perfect and the graphics could use improvement. But the inclusion of Norse lore and interesting creatures made for a game that is very unique in its own right.

Hidden Through Time is a pleasing game of spot-and-find that will give you hours of head-scratching entertainment. With a growing set of online creations and a neat map editor, this is also a promising catalyst for a close-knit community. Even with the slight hiccups it has, the modest price tag for the game is wholly worth it.

When all is said and done, I really had a lot more fun with a game that feels like it could have come out back in 2010 as an online flash game than I did with most modern big releases. By knowing what it wants to be and sticking with it, the development team has crafted a fun game that harkens back to the days of old in a good way. Crash Drive 3 may be nothing more than comfort food, but at the end of the day, what’s wrong with that?

While it may not wholly lean in on its RPG roots enough, Tails of Iron is an indie to squeak about. Its combat is punchy, and the charm of its striking art style is nigh-undeniable. Odd Bug Studio seemingly includes a tease for a follow-up at the game’s end, so I hope Tails of Iron does not end up underrated—it deserves a sequel.

While it can be a downgrade and mimicry of the original 2018 release, Inked: A Tale of Love is a pleasant experience due to its superb artistry and laid-back puzzling. It may only be a few hours long, but it does not outstay its welcome, letting you finish mostly satisfied.

While it can be unclear in its presentation and provides an underwhelming mode, A Gummy’s Life is refreshingly fun, polished party mayhem. It’s a sweet treat of a cross-play party game, offering ample juicy opportunities for hilarity among friends & family.

MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries is an ideal starting point for anyone who wants to get into the mecha game genre. Its technical mechanics are daunting at first, and the management system can be harsh, but there is fun to be had in the destructible environments and PvE mayhem.

While it has its rough edges, Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition is a worthwhile remaster of three classic titles. Its visual overhaul prevents these games from feeling overly dated, and the quality-of-life improvements modernize the experience in a way that meets today’s standards. Sure, its new art style and character models won’t mesh well with everyone, but it may grow on gamers as time goes by. And sure, while these aren’t the “definitive” editions we expected, this is an admirable attempt to introduce three groundbreaking games to a new generation, and I’m glad it exists.

The Jackbox Party Pack 8 is a blast of a bundle. Rather than innovating the formula, this pack bursts with social entertainment that refine the foundations of earlier titles, forming the most consistent pack of games yet.

Death’s Door is an excellent action-adventure gem, balancing solemnity with laughs and moderate difficulty alongside forgiving mechanics. Its combat is pure and satisfying, and the light-RPG elements make progression enjoyable. What I admired most, though, is how all of these elements work in tandem as Death’s Door offers an adventure that feels fresh. From the exquisite environments and discoverable upgrades/collectibles to the delightful characters, you won’t wanna miss out.

Overall, Evil Genius 2: World Domination is a real-time strategy that invites you to be a cartoonish villain, boasting a solid base-building foundation. While the gameplay loop itself can become a bit underwhelming at points, with an unnecessary emphasis on passive currency, the game is appealing for its light-hearted tone and the joy of expanding an evil empire.

Solar Ash has some of the best controls in the adventure platformer genre. Putting you in complete control of a badass, freerunning woman, you’ll skate the beautifully neon and fractured world the game drops you in. Sure, the story is underwhelming and the combat simplistic, but the excellent atmosphere and mechanics are worth taking the running jump.

Developer Techland accumulates all they’ve learned from their action-horror catalog, delivering solidly fun zombie-slaying in this sequel. Its long-winded story may miss the mark in keeping you captivated, but the fun to be had more than makes up for that. And the PS4 version is a great option to play, running at very stable performances and maintaining very acceptable visual fidelity.

While it is not incredibly interactive, République VR is a great PSVR title because it immerses you in the story. It will make you feel attached and connected to the protagonist as she looks up to you in desperate help, and the environments look grander than ever. It may not have the most challenging or groundbreaking stealth action, but République VR is a deftly crafted and timely dystopian thriller.

The Quarry is a wild ride. It manages to be a gleeful concoction of horror clichés and a substantial interactive experience. Your choices feel like they matter, as evidenced by the 186 different character endings. And with a gripping story and superb performances, this is one summer stay you won’t forget.

Totally Accurate Battle Simulator ticks a lot of positive boxes for me — it’s content-rich, it’s cheap, and it’s silly fun, but it’s weighed down by console limitations and wonky controls.

If this were an early access game, I’d probably give it some leeway, but Aquarist isn’t in early access — it’s a full release on PlayStation that overcharges for the buggy mess that it is. It has the potential of being a fun guilty pleasure game, but it’s bogged down by the crazy bad bugs and game halting glitches. Even if it manages to fix the big stuff, it still leaves the unoptimized control scheme, sluggish cursor, and clashing graphics. This is the definition of sleeping with the fishes, something no one wants to do.
