    Akiba's Trip: Hellbound & Debriefed is a re-release of a ten year old portable title and it shows. Apart from being weak on a technical level the combat is basic, the story is lacking and the side quests are repetitive. Not a patch on the sequel, but major fans might get some joy out of it.

    South Park: Snow Day is a slight effort that feels somewhat underdeveloped. The combat has a chaotic feel to it without any real nuance or precision. The few missions that are here follow a familiar path and it misses some much needed variety. The random card drawing can deliver some variables but not enough for encounters to feel different. South Park's humour is here but it's in much smaller doses and simply can't carry what's a mediocre offering.

    For its price Manual Samuel is a short but fun experience that won’t outstay its welcome. Some scenes can become a little repetitive but the novelty will carry you through the majority of the game and the humour will take you the rest of the way.

    Whilst it can degenerate into a box-ticking exercise, combat in Override 2: Super Mech League excels when against other human players. The action holds plenty of weight and the unpredictability does make each fight feel like a challenge. Against bots, that element feels completely removed and more routine. Presentation is handled well with some varied and colourful arenas that always add options to combat. There's a more complete game here that should keep players more engaged.

    Costume Kingdom is Pokémon crossed with Costume Quest but not as good as either. A straightforward platinum trophy and the fact you can beat the game without defeating the cheesy final boss, such as it is, is a bonus. More trick than treat anyway.

    Disaster Report 4 is a shambles. But we love a lemon here at PSC and couldn't help but like it. It's almost so bad its good. We enjoyed ourselves despite the obvious shortfalls.

    Windfolk is a short but enjoyable time when you're flying through the air at speed but the game often slams the brakes on to force you into more confined areas or weak combat which doesn't take advantage of the flight mechanics at all.

    Redout: Space Assault is an unexpected departure for the series but is a solid, enjoyable and reasonably polished experience let down initially by slightly unintuitive controls, some missions that don't really land and visuals that can be a bit cluttered. Stick with it though and this is definitely worth playing.

    Mark McMorris Infinite Air is a strange beast with strong social elements and great ideas that are hampered by a clumsy control scheme. It’s something that may be tightened with time and practice but I never got the sense this could truly be mastered. It’s a sparse genre so boarders might decide to take the plunge.

    Viva Ex Vivo is back. It was always waiting for PlayStation VR and now it feels like an essential purchase if you’ve got some spare change in your PSN account. It’s still a shallow, and occasionally obtuse, game but now it’s a good one.

    Whilst Toby: The Secret Mine takes significant leads from Limbo it does enough to stand out in it’s own right. The platforming is enjoyable and tight but the trial and error puzzles stop this from scoring higher.

    Subaeria is a novel take on the rogue-lite genre. Trying to make enemies kill each other by outsmarting them can be fun and there is plenty to unlock. However at the moment the technical problems take all the fun out of playing it, sometimes making it literally unplayable. Hopefully these issues can be fixed with a patch as the concept deserves better.

    Clash Force is another Ratalaika release which offers an easy platinum. It's a brief and ultimately forgettable experience but you'll get some entertainment from it whilst it lasts.

    Crisis on the Planet of the Apes VR is not a game that will leave a lasting impression with its brief play time and some unnatural feeling controls but the climbing works well and the gunplay brings back memories of light gun games.

    Earth Atlantis is a different kind of shoot 'em up that may well win fans with its excellent art style but will no doubt lose plenty due to the repetitive nature of the gameplay. It is a solidly put together game but one that is a few design choices away from being one we can truly recommend.

    Rugby 20 is a playable effort completely let down by the fact, in over two years of development, very little has changed. Game modes remain slim, rigid and it hamstrings a player who wants to devote more time to it. It's more enjoyable to play and carving together tries has a satisfaction to it, but so much of Rugby 20 feels like a shallow retread.

    Milanoir is a very challenging ultraviolent homage to classic Italian crime movies of the '70s that deserves to be played. This with couch-based multiplayer makes for an entertaining package.

    Cyber Clutch: Hot Import Nights is a very slim package. Whilst the car count is high, the track variety is not and the campaign will whisk you through them in short order. Whilst the racing can be competitive, it lacks some excitement. Handling is mostly fine but some of the narrower sections can really pinball vehicles around. The aesthetics are there but the lack of fidelity makes for a muddy, harsh appearance. Even the vehicle tinkering underwhelms.

    As a positive, cautious first step with a beloved series, Double Dragon IV provides an enjoyable combat experience. The chosen art style undermines the game’s quality somewhat and the retro principles can lead to moments of frustration but I think this is worth your time. It’s unrefined and lacks bravery but it’s not bad.

    This feels like a great disappointment. Moto Racer 4’s budget upbringing can do little to forgive the twitchy handling and tough career objectives. For an arcade racer, fun moments are in short supply and fans of the series might want to avoid this. There’s challenge and frustration in abundance but the core racing doesn’t excite me.

    Beyond the Ice Palace II is a throwback in the worst possible way. A sequel to a 1988 Amiga game that should never have been greenlit, not to mention the terrible job Storybird did with it. The checkpointing is miserly, the platforming uninspiring and the post-release patch that deleted our save and removed what little enthusiasm we had for the game were nails in the already rickety coffin. Bury and forget.

    A Bastard’s Tale prides itself on being tough and that’s certainly what it is. It’s also repetitive but rewarding. The feeling of just one more go will get you through it eventually but the trial and error gameplay will test your last nerve.

    Out of Ammo is a great example of how to mix RTS and FPS gameplay into a viable package. It may be showing its early VR age now, but the gameplay is still as simple and fun as ever.

    Syberia 3 is a mess of a game with appalling performance issues, terrible graphics and a lacklustre story. Whilst a weak story and poor graphics could be excused, particularly given the clever puzzles, the terrible performance issues all but ruin this game. I couldn’t even recommend this for fans of the first two games as it will just tarnish your memory, you’d be better off just reading a summary of the plot.

    Space Rift is a little clunky and has a low budget feel to it but it tells an interesting story and breaks it up with some fun dogfights. The presentation isn't going to wow you, even with the PSVR functionality, but if you're looking for a VR game with some potential depth, this episodic space opera is worth a look.

    Dog Duty is a simple real time tactics game. There are controller and UI issues on PS4 and the 'tactics' element is lacking but if you're looking for a lighter experience this'll keep you busy for a couple of evenings.

    Fallen Knight offers up some reasonably polished hack and slash action but would benefit from much tighter controls. While we appreciated the clever addition of a rogue-lite second campaign, the overall experience is just a bit too sluggish and frustrating for us to recommend the game but there is still some enjoyment to be had from it.

    Extinction lacks a significant amount of execution and polish that could've seen an enjoyable game come to fruition. As it stands, you have a traversal system that doesn't have the environments on hand to really flow. Mission design starts to feel repetitive and, whilst you can find moments of joy in Extinction, it all feels smothered by design choices that don't gel.

    This is not the Terminator game you have been waiting for. However, in a world that has subjected the license to countless sloppy video game adaptations, Terminator: Resistance shines among them as a beacon of hope. Teyon won't win any awards for this, but there is a clear love for the Terminator franchise and plenty of effort to back it up. Which is more than can be said about most licensed games, past and present.
