Though a really neat game, Super Mario Odyssey is an utterly underwhelming adventure for every long-term Super Mario fan in existence. Unless Cappy brainwashed you. Elden Ring is a masterclass in world design. It improves almost all of the bases of FromSoftware’s previous titles and adds upon them many new ones, with its verticality, astonishing world and great combat and story. It is a penultimate soulslike title, and one that will be surely played and remembered for years to come, putting a high bar for action RPGs and firmly sitting as one of the best video games ever.- PLAY! Despite a few serious flaws that would be a huge drawback in most other scenarios, Tears of the Kingdom manages to throw so much at you that you can't help but grab the one thing you love the most. Whether you are into experimenting or defying ancient evil with little to no odds, this is a game that overshadows its predecessor so much that we'll hardly ever look back. Yet, hope for the future must come in the shape of something different since the potential of what we have here seems like it has reached the end of the cloud.- PLAY! Zine

Shadow of the Erdtree is probably the best DLC for any video game ever made. It is hindered by the lackluster optimization of its PC port, but it offers such an enormous amount of content and probably the best world design we have seen so far, not only from From Software but gaming in general. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth works really well on PC but heavily relies on DLSS to run smoothly. With no FSR support (yet at least), only DLSS makes the game look nice. The Last of Us Part II Remastered is not a remaster at all. At best it has some new features that should have been free. No Return roguelike game mode is lackluster and there is no point in playing it. TLOU combat was complementing the story, and it did so very well – unlike No Return which is basically hide and seek with extra steps. For a layman, the graphic improvements are unnoticeable, especially if you haven’t played it in a while, and there are a bunch of new bugs that were previously absent (falling through the ground, missing limbs on character models, etc). The lost chapters are neat to get some dev insight, but are almost unplayable, as they are mostly alpha. This should have been a free DLC for the fans and not a quick money grab. Naughty Dog, take a note from Santa Monica Studios.- PLAY! Zine

Kingdom Come: Deliverance II is an epic medieval RPG that excels in immersion, both in its narrative and historical setting. Sometimes the former two hold it back from being the best RPG of the year. The game is a slave to its mechanics and systems, some of which feel tedious and slow, and the combat is, at least for me, punishing and clumsy – as if I’m awkwardly puppeteering Henry from behind, flailing his arms in battle. The original The Last of Us will always be my favourite PlayStation game. The narrative is amazing, the relationship between Joel and Ellie is wholesome and it all culminates into a satisfying story that will bring tears to your eyes. However, I do not recommend the remake. Even though there are extensive graphical enhancements, 60FPS support, DualSense support and a variety of accessibility options, none of this justifies the admission price. If there is one title that feels like it beckons the start of the next-gen era, it is undoubtedly this game. Its flawless presentation and beautiful graphics may be polluted by a glitch or two along the way, but nonetheless, it is an amazing experience that just can't be recommended enough.- PLAY! Zine

With FINAL FANTASY TACTICS – The Ivalice Chronicles, Square Enix once again proves that a great remaster can both modernize and honor an original’s legacy. It’s a careful balance of fresh updates and deep respect for longtime fans and newcomers alike. The addition of full voice acting alone makes The Ivalice Chronicles worth revisiting — even for those who’ve already experienced every previous entry.- PLAY! Zine

When the game manages to get on your nerves with its difficulty, but you still come back to it and spend every minute of your time thinking about how to improve your strategies, that's when you know it is a real gem and you are hooked up. And that is, exactly, the case with XCOM 2.- PLAY! Zine

If you loved the original, grab this sequel that is superior in almost every aspect. Graphics, audio, story and overall narrative as well as amazing location variety are this game’s strongest points. The presence of clunky combat, controls and a number of bugs will make it harder for newcomers to experience Horizon Forbidden West. Yet what can’t be denied is the fact it’s not an „everyday title“, and as such is not for everyone.- PLAY! Zine

Mullet Madjack is a simple but fun and frantic FPS with a great stylized approach and engaging gameplay. The game has retrofuture anime vibes that come with great music and atmosphere. It might not blow you away, but it will give you an opportunity to play as a power fantasy 80s movie action hero. Who could say no to that?- PLAY! Zine

Deathloop is another proof that Arkane knows its immersive sim stuff. Despite the disappointing AI and some serious PC port issues, it still is one of the most fun experiences you can afford yourself this year and a breath of fresh air in the industry.- PLAY! Zine

Miles Morales has finally gotten its PC port, and it is a similar experience to the original Spider-Man, but packaged into a much better and denser story experience with slight improvements to movement and additional combat moves that pose it to be the best Spidey on PC to date.- PLAY! Zine

If you've wanted to try out a Monster Hunter game but were always discouraged by its complexity and systems, here's a title that might change your mind. With tweaked pacing and mechanics, Monster Hunter Rise feels more accessible than ever, yet it loses next to none of its complexity that the veterans of the series cherish so dearly. For newcomers and returning players, this is the title to rise above all others.- PLAY! Zine

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door remakes the original in all the elementary ways, but also improves it in a few key aspects. Steamworld Dig 2 is bigger and better than its predecessor in every way possible, except for one - it's still a game that has to end. There is no multiplayer, endless or random generating modes you could enjoy after the credits roll. But for the length of the campaign, it is an experience only a masterful metroidvania can deliver.- PLAY! Zine

Blizzard has done it again. Legion not only delivered the trademark Blizzard style, but it's bringing back the veteran WoW players with hundreds of new quests and the most brilliant and complex story so far. And for an MMO that's going on for over a decade - that is an achievement worthy of every recommendation.- PLAY! Zine

After the successful entry to the DOOM franchise with DOOM (2016) id Software just couldn't surprise us that much. And they probably didn't want (or need) to - they just upgraded every aspect of the game for a little bit, making it that much fun, entertaining and brutal. The gameplay is probably one of the best we have played in a while - fluid and engaging, forcing the player to continuously fight the hordes of evil (with the new batch of demons from the original DOOM from the '90s of course). The story is, on the other hand, a complete mess and platforming elements not the strongest point for id Software.- PLAY! Zine

Nioh is a really challenging game. Sometimes, maybe even too much so. You have to be at the top of your game just to keep your head on your shoulders. So it's also the perfect example of whether a game's difficulty is just enough to announce the title as a "successful" one or not. Also, that's the reason that we can only recommend Nioh to the biggest hardcore gamers out there.- PLAY! Zine
