Payday: The Heist is maybe Left 4 Cops, but still a very good interpretation with nice own ideas. Continous, massive cop slaughtering could use some tweaking, as it gets somewhat monotonous. [Nov 2011]

Cartoony tower defense game is the perfect blend of strategy, hands-on FPS-action and ingenious trap designs. Killing orcs hasn't been this much fun since Helm's Deep. [Nov 2011]

The NBA lockout is still in effect, but worry not – NBA 2K12 arrives to save the day of a sports fanatic. The Michael Jordan of basketball games looks, sounds and – most importantly of all – plays like the real thing. The controls are demanding, but once you get the hang of it, every other sports game feels inferior. The nostalgic "NBA's Greatest" game mode and addictive career mode complete the irresistible package. [Nov 2011]

Stays true to the spirit of the old Heroes of Might & Magic games. There are some gameplay innovations, most of which are good, but basically it feels very familiar. Whether this is good or bad depends on the player, but overall Heroes VI is a fine specimen of an almost extinct genre. [Nov 2011]

League of Legends handles well the worst problem DOTA has: its autistic n00b-hating elite players. Thanks to match making, now we weaklings dare to play. [Nov 2011]

A Game of Thrones is a real-time strategy game based on the Song of Ice & Fire fantasy series. Graphically the game is very outdated and the actual gameplay mechanics are repetitive and boring even though there are some original ideas. The game also fails to take full advantage of the source material which is why the singleplayer campaign is really bad and short. Multiplayer mode is slightly better but finding matches is hard because there aren't many people playing the game. [Nov 2011]

Forza Motorsport 4 is pretty much the same game as its predecessor, this time only with added Kinect controls and somewhat limited Autovista functionality. Luckily Forza 3 was a great game and Forza 4 is too. Best new feature is larger player cap in online matches. [Nov 2011]

The best Elder Scrolls game released so far. The atmosphere is just amazing and the fights against the dragons cause goosebumps every single time. There are still some stupid leftovers from Oblivion, but most of the errors from the previous game have been fixed. [Nov 2011]

You never know what to expect from Bioware when they create a new DLC. Sometimes they are decent, more often not. Legacy and Mark of the Assassin are pleasant surprises in the continuum. The adventures are well written, Tallis is a compelling new character and the combat is challenging enough. The add-ons are solid work, but not extraordinary by any means. [Nov 2011]

The Missing Link is one of the best DLC releases ever. Even though it's a bit pricey, it's very much worth the price. There's a lot of stuff to do, interesting combat and best of all, the new in-house made boss fight is infinitely more fun than the useless bosses at the original Human Revolution. [Nov 2011]

Descend RGP has a nice old school dungeon crawler feel to it, but the challenges come from all the wrong places: the hunger, the lack of healing and the endless stream of random encounters. Should the developer ever decide to patch up the game balance, Descend would definitely warrant a second look. [Nov 2011]

Capcom sure knows how to make money. This game is rather an adaptation instead of a sequel. This could easily been sold as DLC, but the marketing department decided otherwise. If you've seen the original, no need to bother for a re-run. [Nov 2011]

The curse of this crusade is hurry, which can be seen in almost every aspect of the game. The historical premise is interesting and the fundamentals of the fighting system are in order, but there is no finishing touch. Glitches, frustrating level design, dumb AI and screwed up damage modelling are sure signs of unnecessary haste. With proper finishing this crusade would have triumphed. [Nov 2011]

Crysis looks great on consoles, too. Too bad Crytek decided to use the nerfed nanosuit 2.0 from Crysis 2 and they couldn't fix the original problem of the game, the way everything turns much less fun once the aliens show up. Still, it's a fun shooter that's worth a look even four years after its original launch. [Nov 2011]

Modern Warfare 3 is a solid entry into the series. The singleplayer campaign offers non-stop action to the point of excess, while the multiplayer offers the usual hooks and unlockables that will keep you busy for weeks to come. [Nov 2011]

Aliens: Infestation's beginning is very strong and atmospheric, but unfortunately the same can't be said about the rest of the game. When xenomorphs neither scare nor challenge you, something has gone wrong. Permanent death in an adventure like this is a cool idea, though. [Nov 2011]

Arkham City continues to amaze. If you thought Arkham Asylum was great, City is even better. Gliding around the open world is great fun and the combat system has surprising depth in it. The story suffers a bit from the sheer number of many supervillains in it, but otherwise Arkham City is one of the best games of 2011. [Oct 2011]
