Amazing visuals, solid gameplay and an enjoyable story - Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception has them all and then some. It's a great game that could have been a truly excellent one if not for some slight shortcomings (platforming and puzzles are too easy, too much shooting in the latter part of the game, last minute escapes start feeling old after a while...). A flight-sim for the rest-of-us. It's silly, it's fun and it looks absolutely stunning. The new helicopter missions prove to be an excellent addition to the Ace Combat fare. On the negative side this game is way too fond of setting mission critical time limits for the player. [Oct 2011]

Real time land battles are excellent and sea fights a good addition, but AI is totally lost at the campaign map. The computer feels too passive, it doesn't try to take key provinces and doesn't even attack after a declaration of war. [Mar 2009]

The newest iteration of the Anno series builds successfully on the previous Anno games. Setting Anno 2070 in the future gives the game a whole new angle. Managing the economy and mastering trade and diplomacy are of course vital, but it is the Waterworld-esque setting that distinguishes Anno 2070 from its competitors. Will you go green and use renewable energy? Or do whatever it takes to generate enough energy for your colony – even if it means polluting your surroundings? [Jan 2012]

Might and Magic X: Legacy is a shamelessly old-school RPG made for us raised on Might and Magic and Eye of Beholder. It's a fine romp even without the nostalgia. The generic setting lacks personality, like some of the quirky aspects of Jon van Caneghem's old Might and Magic games, but solid combat system with spot on difficulty curve makes up for it. Budget production values show on how much some of the assets are recycled throughout, and the fairly short adventure never reaches truly epic proportions, but despite that I'd adventure more in a world like this. Out of all the Xbox One launch titles Dead Rising 3 is definitely the most entertaining. There's no denying that mowing down crowded streets full of zombies isn't a guilty pleasure. What Dead Rising 3 lacks, though, is next generation visuals. The game could easily pass as a fancy looking Xbox 360 title. [Feb 2014]
