    One hell of a fun racing game. Sure, many of its elements feel a tad generic, like the track and character design, but what it really comes down to is the racing itself and Bugbear has done a great job at drawing a line between control and complete chaos.

    Don't be turned off by the difficult controls right away. Once you get used to the steering and can take the corners, FlatOut 2 is an awesome racer with enough destruction and mayhem to last you awhile.

It's not about the prettiest takedown or making the perfect lap. FlatOut 2 is all about having a down-n-dirty romp through the most destructible environments imaginable. The car (and crash) physics are finely tuned... but they're not something you'll gain mastery of immediately, and that is the beauty of FlatOut 2. The finesse required to navigate the sheer carnage of each race quickly separates those with skill (like myself) from those without (like Spartan 234). It's a complete blast from start to finish, and the hard rock soundtrack is the best I've heard in a game. Absolutely outstanding, and it surpasses the first game in every way possible.… Expand

Like enjoyed playing the first Flatout very much I love playing the sequel which is even better than the original. My humble opinion is that this game tops even the Burnout series although I have played only 8% of this game so far. The physics and AI seem very natural to me and very suitable for a funracer like this. The dirt and gravel races are my favourite and I have to admit I havent played the minigames much yet as my main interest is in the races itself... good job Bugbear!… Expand

    EXCELLENT STUFF! Ignore the naysayers, this really is one of the better racers on Xbox - and probably the ONLY "offroad" racer worth your EXCELLENT STUFF! Ignore the naysayers, this really is one of the better racers on Xbox - and probably the ONLY "offroad" racer worth your time. What you need to know is that it will take some time to get to the good stuff. Things will seem slow and difficult at first but once you get money enough for a better car things pick up nicely. HINT: buy a bulky 4WD truck and wreak havoc on your opponents (ignoring your race standings) to build up money fast! It seems to me that many people just dont get the fact that the cars in this game come in three drive varieties: RWD, FWD and 4WD. Contrary to intuition the forward drive cars usually are the easiest to drive in Flatout2 instead of 4WD. This game would benefit from a larger selection of tracks. I'd especially like a few more pure street tracks. The three racing classes aren't really all that different as it is. Framerate is (a rock steady) 30fps which works fine most of the time but of course 60fps would be much, much better... Combined with the low graphics resolution of the original Xbox it sometimes feels like youre practically driving blind - you just can't see where you are going! There are some badly lit tracks where this is a real problem. So there definitely is room for improvement for the next sequel.… Expand

I absolutely hated the first FlatOut game because it showed a total lack of play-testing, given the god-awful driving physics and ultra-irritating AI that caused this Burnout Revenge veteran (me, of course) to place last in EVERY SINGLE RACE. While it did include some fun ragdoll minigames, you had to play through the game in order to unlock them -- and that's not good. Now, the "lame remedy" that I mentioned earlier is that all of the minigames are now playable without having to play any of the races. Sure, the minigames are quite entertaining, but there's not enough variety in them to make the game worth $40. Besides, why couldn't Bugbear fix the original game's problems anyways? They need to get up off their lazy a$$es and actually make a FUN racing game.… Expand
