Tales of Berseria is a joy to play: battles are easy to learn and hard to master affairs in a colorful world filled with mature characters, intriguing plotlines and intense plot twists. It is sad the game feels very old-gen here and there: dungeons are especially dull and backtracking has now become a staple in the series. Bandai Namco does need to focus on current hardware if it really wants to bring its new vision of Tales to life.

Resident Evil 7 Biohazard brings back the true Resident Evil experience into the franchise, by mixing old and new elements in a creepy way. Dealing with the Baker family will get you involved even when you are not in front of the TV screen (or with the PlayStation VR on your head).

Detention is more Silent Hill than the many Silent Hill clones on the market.

​The fundamental mechanics are always the same since Puzzle Bobble, but some fresh ideas, like the different objectives in the levels, are thrown in the mix here, making Bubble Witch Saga 3 a good alternative​.

If you still hadn't enough of tower defense on mobile platform, Castle Creeps TD represents a a wonderful model for this genre, with well-balanced structure and good realization. The problem is just its total lack of originality.

Highway Runners is a passionate tribute to the classic Out Run: a fun and colorful arcade racer, with many levels and unlockables.

Dragon Quest VIII on Nintendo 3DS lacks the outstanding visuals of its original PlayStation 2 counterpart but definitely makes up for them with lots of new content and enhancement.

Gravity Rush 2 is basically what Gravity Rush should have been from the start. It's larger, longer and more focused both gameplay and storywise... and unfortunately shares with its prequel the very same annoying issues, namely a fickly camera and some bloated quests. If this was a send-off, Japan Studio actually delivered with style.

Silly Sausage: Doggy Dessert is basically more of the same, with some minor tweaks and a ramped up difficulty level which makes it somewhat frustrating over its predecessor.

Following the well known formula, Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse is a good JRPG, stuck in the past but still very interesting to play thanks to the large scale plot.

Angry Birds Blast! is a match-3 puzzle game with lots of levels, but the gameplay fails to deliver.

Interesting mix between a tower defense and an action RPG, World of Van Helsing: Deathtrap is almost the same title we saw on PC a couple of years ago with the same strengths, except for the editor, and weaknesses.

​It's just a collection of mini-games, but Grumpy Cat's Worst Game Ever has a soul between the split/second samples of gameplay, and it's quite exhilarating.​

Shantae: Half-Genie Hero an impressive 2D platformer, with an immersive soundtrack, very nice cel-shaded graphics and a solid gameplay. The game makes consistent us of backtracking and that doesn't always feel good, but we really appreciated its "old school" approach.

The Dwarves brings the novel setting into the videogame with a compelling and well-narrated plot. Unfortunately the game is overwhelmed by its own ambitions, and the gameplay part is not as good.

Motorsport Manager is an excellent simulator of a Formula 1 team, deemed heir of the elder Grand Prix Manager.

Silence is a good adventure Telltale-like game with a great story and less-good puzzles.

Experience Reality is the usual Surgeon Simulator converted for the VR. It has a bunch of new contents but the gameplay is exactly the same. With all the ups and lows.

Watch Dogs 2 looks absolutely gorgeous on PC. The game offers a rich sandbox, with plenty of fun missions, things to do and places to see.

Shadows of Kurgansk offers nothing new in the survival genre.

A brilliant and unpredictable 2D action game, that demonstrates how interesting and mature the chinese indie scene can be. It's not a perfect game, but it's still highly recommended to anyone who loves experimental narrative and tight gameplay.

A New Frontier is a good start for the new season of The Walking Dead: its plot is compelling and fascinating but the gameplay it's still the same of the Telltale's adventures.

Bullet Force delivers a solid online multiplayer FPS experience on mobile.

Hill Climb Racing 2 is both an excellent sequel and a very competent entry in this peculiar racing game genre.

Fieldrunners Attack! is nothing more than a clone of Clash of Clans like so many others, but it's still a simple and enjoyable one.

Dawn of Titans is a solid RTS with stunning visuals, a long single player campaign and interesting multiplayer battles.

Probably the first title for VR that a player can enjoy from start to finish. 

Despite the good aestethic, Earth's Dawn is a repetitive old-school beat 'em up. But if you can come to terms with its faults, it can be catchy with its deep and solid mecanics.

Let It Die brings an amazing atmosphere full of nosense, gore and fights, but some elements may get really frustrating after the first hours of play. As a free-to-play opportunity, you should definitely try it yourself before deciding if you want to climb or not the Tower of Barb.

Super Mario Run is a different take on the classic Mario formula, that manages to deliver a satisfying experience perfectly adapted on the mobile devices.

Playing pinballs in real life is still better than playing them in videogames, but Pinball FX2 VR successfully uses virtual reality to make this difference smaller.

Challenging and atmospheric, Space Hulk: Deathwing is extremely faithful to the franchise.

My Horse Prince is weird but fun in a way which is difficult to tell. It’s a surreal love comedy between a girl and an horse with human face. Do you need something more? Yes, a game.

Werewolves Within shows us that virtual reality games shouldn't necessarily bring people to new worlds or in extreme conditions. They can also bring us around a campfire, just talking with other players and enjoying all the fun that this game can offer!

Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun is the Commandos serie heir, with some camera problems but great mechanics.

The idea of the gym to manage and grow is interesting and well executed, but the fighting mechanic is a little simplistic, while the inevitable free-to-play traps are obviously present.

Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 on PlayStation 4 is the very game you either love or hate upscaled to 1080p and 60 frames per second.

Galaxy on Fire 3 - Manticore is a solid space shooter with plenty of missions, maps, enemies and upgrades.

Like Hitman GO before it, Lara Croft GO is basically the same mobile game, only with a higher price tag and a handful of new content. It’s still a brilliant puzzle, but if you own a smartphone it’s hard to recommend this version. 

In the middle of the action, Amateur Surgeon 4 is a good puzzle game filled with humorous style, but its convoluted micro-transaction system is a sort of game-breaker.

Post Brutal delivers an outdated, cumbersome action RPG experience.

Steep is a fresh breath. Fun, frantic and innovative, manages to combine the thrills of illustrious predecessors in the genre, like the SSX series, with more modern formulas.

The Last Guardian has lived up to his hype offering a great adventure and some iconic moments between Trico and the boy. The first hours are less impressive, the camera could be better and the graphics have some highs and lows.

Despite a few new ideas, which don't always work as expected, Dead Rising 4 does not show huge improvements to the original formula: It's a fun game with a bunch of problems and nothing more.

The Survival experience in The Division is something that you should definitely try, even if it is not perfect.

Theme Park studio is the Photoshop of the amusement park genre.

As repetitive as this may sound, Hop Swap is another great mobile game from Nitrome, packing good fun and a solid challenge in an honest free to play structure.

The Nintendo levels are really good and differ from the main series, but the impossibility to upload your own stage is an heavy flaw.

Darksiders: Warmastered Edition is a great remastered for one of the greatest games of the past generation. 

Loading Human has a lot of problems in terms of gameplay and controls but it's a nice try for a new adventure specifically designed for VR.

Asphalt Xtreme delivers a solid arcade racing experience, with a rich career and a fun multiplayer mode.

Pokémon Sun & Moon is an amazing experience for fans of the franchise thanks to a renewed focus on narrative and many tweaks that make gameplay much more enjoyable than before.

Super Cat Bros. is a fun albeit hardly unforgettable old-school platformer, which manages to set up a decent free to play formula. 

Seraph is a good action-platform, especially thanks to the refined and elegant gameplay. However, the reduced longevity and some flaws in the level design limits the overall value.

Final Fantasy XV hides a convoluted, 10 year-long development behind every corner and desperately struggles with its own identity. Fans of the franchise might find the new open world structure a bit disappointing especially because it hurts a narrative that finds some coherence in the second half of the game and goes straight to an emotional and very divisive ending.

Guardian of Gotham doesn't bring the plot ahead as we expected, but overall Batman: The Telltale Series is still a good take on the Dark Knight universe.

Simple and classic like a fable, Little Briar Rose is a good example of "point and click" adventure with a twist, along with beautiful art and smooth, although a little predictable, puzzle design.

Killing Floor 2 is a solid multiplayer-based shooter, with plenty of weapons, enemies and maps.

Amnesia: Collection brings the series of Frictional Games on PlayStation 4, an event that can not be ignored by all lovers of horror adventures. The Dark Descent and Justine alone are worth the price of admission, but also the inclusion of Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs is a welcome move for those who want a different experience and more straightforward, although some bugs might have been avoided. 

The Deadly Tower of Monsters delivers a nice experience, packed with tons of funny dialogues and interesting levels.

Toon Shooters 2: The Freelancers is a solid shooter, with nice cel shading graphics and challenging boss fights.

RollerCoaster Tycoon World is a mess. Buy and play Planet Coaster instead. 

This is clearly a jRPG developed only for the fans of the genre.

RunGunJumpGun manages to strike the balance between an unforgiving challenge and the right reward that makes you keep going, but you have to accept its very thin structure.

Planet Coaster has the best amusement park editor on the market, but lack in other aspect like the management side.

With Assassin's Creed: Ezio Collection you can play one of the most beautiful trilogies on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, with a slightly better graphics and all the DLC included in the package.

Mikey Jumps is a nice addition to the series which manages to squeeze all the elements of the previous games in an honest free to play package.

Quite surprisingly, Eagle Flight is one of the most enjoyable games on PlayStation VR. With some additional content it could have been way better, like other virtual reality games released recently.

In terms of visual impact, Robinson: The Journey is probably the best that you can see with your PlayStation VR. Unfortunately, the game lacks in its other aspects, while the motion sickness is always around the corner.

Dishonored 2 is the perfect example of the “more of the same” concept. It has the same exact good features as the first chapter but the same problems as well. Other than this, it's probably one of the best stealth title on the market right now.

The Trail has good looks and an intriguing concept, but after playing it you just can’t fight the feeling that you’ve just wasted time doing nothing.

With Tyranny Obsidian demonstrates once again its ability in the rpg craft. This is a rich and deep videogame, with a powerful background and a complex narrative, but it lacks courage, since it keeps the same gameplay structure seen in Pillars of Eternity and ruins its epic final act with some forced ramifications and an abrupt ending.

Gear.Club delivers a solid, compelling racing experience on iOS, with almost perfect controls and lots of events and cars.

Galaga Wars is a welcome return of the classic franchise in a new form with a good control scheme, but its lack of depth and frequent relying on micro-transaction can be disappointing.

City Living enhanced considerably the gameplay of The Sims 4 and adds an excellent expansion to the core. It is clearly visible what has been the starting idea, provided by the experience of The Urbz for PS2 but declined in a newer and fresher form.

DoDonPachi Resurrection is one of the Cave's mastepiece; a pure bullet hell party. Not for everyone, but the shumps lovers have to buy it. 

After nine years in development Owlboy is finally out and it's a masterpiece!

Super Dungeon Bros has many good points on his side, such the enjoyable cooperative multiplayer and the smart aesthetic, but has also numerous flaws that prevents it to be an overly good dungeon crawler.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare comes back with a remastered game that looks like a miracle!

The Bug Butcher is a solid action game which manages to bring back memories of a classic like Pang along with a fresh new taste.

Despite the fact that it doesn't introduce any revolutionary feature, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is a solid, well designed and rich in FPS content which will make all the fans happy.

Shoot the Dragons is a pleasant albeit superficial shooter which doesn’t seem to have enough personality to leave a mark.

It's a little simplistic and something in the ball isn't quite perfect, but the reinterpretation of the classic pinball in PinOut works very well and the game is enjoyable.

There are no significant changes for Just Dance 2017, it's basically the same formula we know, with additional and quite rich Unlimited catalog and an extra mode for current-gen versions. The real difference is made by the playlist employed. In order to maximize the potential of the Ubisoft product you need to lean on subscription.

WRC 6 racing is a very funny title, with lot of improvements compared to the previous chapter, but the graphic engine is still not very fluid and gameplay is burdened by a severe penalty system. You can consider the title as a less severe alternative to the genre.  

Football Manager 2017 builds upon its predecessor, providing all the wannabe Mourinhos a solid way to sit on the bench. Still, the new features are not groundbreaking, so you may want to think twice before buying it at full price.

RIGS: Mechanized Combat League is one of the best games for PlayStation VR. Fast, funny and frantic. But it desperately needs more content.

Perhaps TT Games should have made an all new game based on Fantastic Beasts rather than remastering LEGO Harry Potter Years 1-7. Despite being still quite fun, the old formula didn't age well and suffers from bugs old and new, lack of voice acting and weird, counterintuitive puzzles.

Hokkaido's map is solid and rich, but not as inspired as Sapienza (or as big and artistically strong). It's still a good closure to Hitman's first season though. Particularly recommended for those who love contracts.

This is the best console version of one of the greatest open world RPGs ever, but with the same issues the original had. If you haven't played it, buy it, but otherwise, you can also keep your old Xbox 360/PS3 version.
