A gorgeous looking shooter that pushes the series into the modern mobile age.

Galaxy on Fire 3 - Manticore is a solid space shooter with plenty of missions, maps, enemies and upgrades.

A great game that manages to adapt its original formula to a different system such as the mobile phones. It may be too similar on long term fishlabs has enough time to solve that after the release date.

Galaxy on Fire 3 - Manticore is a valid space shooter for iOS, but it cuts all ties with the past and far more strategic management of the series.

Simple though it may be I actually really like this control scheme as it lets me focus all of my energy on moving and aiming.

While it can't quite live up to its predecessor, GOF3 still offers plenty to enjoy. [Nov 2016, p.83]

Galaxy on Fire 3 - Manticore is a great-looking shooting gallery with a lot of ways you can grind out progression. If that's what you're into, this game may be for you. If you were looking for a more open-ended space game that felt challenging and deep, you will not find what you're looking for here.

Its very repetitive and with the addition of rare currency, its pay to win. It doesn't have the open world that the previous 2 did and i thing that really affects the game, which was very disappointing after years of waiting for it. if it was a sub series or was just called Galaxy On Fire Manticore, i would be OK, but this interrupts the whole line of games and makes me think less of the developers. For example, the story isn’t captivating like gof2 story was. The free-roam element doesn’t exist. Worst of all the game focuses monetisation (iap) for basically everything. That and the full story is extremely overpriced. Expand

If you liked GOF1&2, you will be terribly disappointed.

The game designers traded THE most unique & redeeming quality (open space exploration) for a pay-to-play/win approach that ruins the gameplay and story advancement. There are PLENTY of good and highly critical user reviews out there on the web, so I won't too deeply elaborate here (no trading, no real exploring, no other space bases, no real 'finds', etc.)... but I sincerely hope Fishlabs LISTENS. (No, Fishlabs, a traffic light drone flying the SAME mission areas back to the SAME base ship is NOT open 'exploration'. It is also incredibly tedious and boring... with little reward.)

GOF2 was one of the best games I've ever played on the iPhone (and I've played a ton). GOF3 sold its soul for 'more realistic dogfights' (according to one of the designer's responses to this repeated criticism)... instead of focusing on extending the GOF universe while retaining its central gameplay. That's like SuperMario focusing on more realistic box openings & mushroom graphics. How in the world did they not realize open exploration was what made the GOF franchise utterly unique? "Yep, let's just throw our mojo out for better graphics & dogfights... and have them play the same basic missions over and over and over..."

I certainly hope GOF4 is more like GOF2. But considering how long this new iteration took... well, honestly, I hope they see this current weak rendition as a mulligan, immediately to be tossed. Unfortunately, it looks like they wanted Manticore to become a ongoing 'additional episodes' platform... but with the same soul-less PTW repetitiveness that has effectively robbed it of any unique gameplay (the same 5 basic mission types returning to the same ship every time... oh wait... the 'update' made that 7 basic mission types... oooh... so much more repetitive fun...)

Sadly, if you want to play a much more advanced, enjoyable, layered, and overall better game... go *back* to GOF2. Then you'll understand why so many GOF fans are calling Manticore a significant step backward.
