Pako is a unique and exciting car chase simulator that you'll pick up and play and forget to put down until you're proficient. Yes, it can be hard to get the hang of, and there simply isn't much to it, but you'd be hard-pressed to find a more addictive game out there right now -- of course, beyond the likes of Timberman.

Because of its high difficulty bar, Jet Car Stunts 2 certainly isn't for everyone. If you're a racing fan up for a real challenge though - or you don't mind spending a few hours perfecting runs on the trickiest levels - this one's well worth taking for a spin.

Knights of the Round Cable succeeds in consuming hours upon hours of time, thanks to its addictive "just one more go" hook.

From where we stand, it's a smartly designed and at times uncomfortable video game that's definitely worth $0.99. If anything, it'll make you think twice about rubbing your eyes after touching a doorknob.

Exhibition matches eventually get old, and Legacy lacks an addictive hook. For the money, though, Fight Night Champion is one of the most impressive iPhone games we've seen, and multiplayer (Wi-Fi/Bluetooth) should keep you punching for several hours, providing you find someone else with the game.

Mobile game sequels are hit or miss, as some developers just slap a new skin on an older game. Halfbrick did that with one of the game's modes, but the Bandito mode as well as the humor in the Puss in Boots character makes this version unique. If you played the original, the new mode is worth the purchase, and if you never experienced Fruit Ninja, Puss in Boots is the perfect way to get started.

Animal rights activists may take issue with the gruesome results, but considering the cartoon-style visuals and light-heartedness contained within, we think everyone should take a chill pill, sit back and do their best to make this virtual world a better place.

Surprisingly, Gameloft's Spider-Man Unlimited is a decent runner with a progression system and narrative tiers that allow it to transcend its status as F2P clone that you've seen millions of times over. In fact, with future updates, it may even continue to improve.

Puzzle Craft is a wonderful example of how to attract the casual, the hardcore, the cynical, and even the most bitter cash-for-progress gamers of the world together. I am addicted to an empire-building game, and if you've read even a fraction of my previous polemic against the genre, you will know by now that this is the highest accolade I could ever bestow on the game.

While Temple Run 2 is a quality product, it falls short of being groundbreaking.

Throw in online and local multiplayer, and Asphalt 6: Adrenaline is one of the best racers you can buy. We would have preferred more cars, but this is pound for pound one of the coolest games on the App Store. On that note, do yourself a favor and splurge on the $6.99 iPad edition.

Once again, Atlus delivers an excellent operating game for DS.

There's a staggering amount of content that more than justifies the asking price, and we'd like to think hardcore fans won't have too much of a problem with the graphics. At the same time, and considering the resolution gap between the 3DS screen and competing platforms, this title does more harm than good.

It's one more endless-runner that we have no issue adding to our collection.

It lacks the bells and whistles we expect these days, but when it comes to monster-blasting thrills, the game delivers the pulse-pounding arcade goodness fans crave.

Satisfying though these bonus objectives are, we can't help but feel they've been wedged into the game in order to artificially extend its longevity. But while that's a shame, it takes nothing away from the sublime eccentricity of Momonga Pinball Adventures.

Then we have the tilt controls, to which we say, don't bother. It was novel of Sony to attempt to implement Vita's gyroscope to transform the handheld into a steering wheel, but it's tough getting the hang of, if at all.

SSX On Tour could've looked a little better, and probably would have benefited from some slight gameplay tweaks, but it's very playable and thoroughly enjoyable.

The analog control issues and other small setbacks (Rex Hudler, no Infrastructure play) keep this from winning the pennant, but it's still the go-to batter for on-the-go sports. Take MLB 10: The Show to the ballpark this summer and enjoy.

Issues aside, Zombie Gunship is a corpse blasting good time you should download immediately. Strap yourself in and give the apocalypse hell.

Despite its flaws, Monster Adventures is one of the catchiest Pokemon wannabes you'll find on the market right now. The gameplay is addictive and will keep you battling for hours on end, and the multiplayer component will draw you in even further. If you're Pokemon-ed out, then you gotta catch this.

A pound-a-thon that's still fun after all this time, and those who want a capable PSP fighting game with familiar rap and superstar personalities and lots of bone-crunching hits should take this game on over.

What makes Band Together especially challenging is this: once a Bandy falls off a platform, there's no way to go back. This is where much of the head-scratching comes into play, since you must plot several moves ahead to see how puzzles unfold.

Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney is a great pairing that makes for an addictive game. Once you start, you will be immediately drawn into the story and won't be able to put the 3DS down. Fans of both series will be very satisfied, and should demand a sequel. Well done overall.

GRID is difficult at first, and the lack of a speedy frame rate may throw you off. Otherwise, there's nothing to hold you back from shifting into high gear. Buy it, hit the gas and race for the finish line.

NBA 09 The Inside is a slam-dunk in almost every way.

Namco Bandai took everything we love about Doodle Jump and improved the experience with some old school flavor. The result is an App that represents the best thing to happen to Pac-Man since Championship Edition on Xbox 360.

With music lifted straight from the Metroid Prime games, Pinball is an absolute joy to listen to.

Pivvot strikes a wonderful balance between frustration and elation. What seems impossible at first soon becomes second nature as you gradually get to grips with the game's devilish designs. The overall challenge level isn't quite the same as that found in the game's obvious inspirations, but this is nevertheless a game that you won't be able to walk away from until you've truly mastered it.

As a single player game, there is a great deal to like about Street Fighter X Tekken Mobile, and even the negative elements such as the low framerate can't detract from the varied moves, decent selection of characters and sparkling environments. Sadly it's only half an offering at present.

Zen Pinball 3D may not have the eye candy of its big brothers, but it's without question one of the best games on the eShop.

Definitely flawed, but I've poured several hours into it and have no intention of stopping.

The upgrade system will keep you coming back, there's some good humor that's more hit than miss, and you'll get a lot of gaming for that dollar. Multiplayer's coming in a future update too, so you might want to start mastering this matching mayhem now.

Skylanders Lost Islands is very much a gentle combination of familiar empire-building with the deliciously addictive finger-tapping of The Simpsons: Tapped Out, but it brings both of these elements together so wonderfully, and in such a perfectly polished package, that we couldn't help but fall in love with it.

It's light-hearted but captivating, and there a difficulty setting for everyone, whether you're the committed tower-defense nut, the kind of person who likes to think they're better at these games than they really are, or the younger game who'll get a few hours of entertainment from assaulting the balloons with ease.

As long as you don't mind the waiting game that inevitably accompanies these sorts of expansion-orientated titles, not to mention a rather steep learning curve to citizen creation, you've got one of the best examples of the genre to look forward to.

Radiation Island is one of the most value-packed titles on iOS right now, jam-packed with features, things to do, and all wrapped up in a gorgeous package to boot.

The music's infectious and will get stuck in your head for days, while the characters and environments have a simplistic but effective cartoon style appearance.

Quite frankly, we didn't expect to fall in love with this game. Excellent stuff.

Even though it doesn't look as good as other MotorStorm games, we're happy with the way Arctic Edge turned out. The controls are easy to learn, the presentation is solid and the crashes and stunts are just as fun as ever.

Any dungeon-crawling fantasy fan will get more than enough from their $4.99 to justify picking up Warhammer Quest, and they'll likely find themselves happy to invest more to extend that experience.

It's the kind of thing you really need to see to believe, and once you do you'll notice that a crowd's formed behind you.

In all, Geometry Wars: Galaxies is an expansion done right.

We found the game's performance stuttered a little on our second-generation iPad, but it has its charms nevertheless - just don't expect to take on the global leaderboards without buying yourself a competitive edge.

One of the beefiest tower defense games on the App Store. If you have lots of time to kill, this is three bucks well spent.

World of Warriors is a unique RPG, that combines a bit of a fighting game feel with turn based combat.

The Dark Meadow has some warts, but it's still a hauntingly beautiful and intriguing game everyone should play, as it offers both a compelling adventure and a glimpse into the future of smart phone gaming.

ORC: Vengeance absolutely deserves to take its place amongst the best dungeon crawling games on the App Store, of which, there are few. Next to Gameloft's Dungeon Hunter series, it's the closest thing you'll find to Diablo 3 on smartphones and tablets, filled with cool weapons, visually stimulating graphics and rewarding combat.

The game can be fun and rewarding and does a pretty decent job at not massacring a movie franchise, but can grow tiresome rather fast if the fighting bores you.

Figuring out how to solve each puzzle, creating your own and sharing them with others makes this an essential addition to your PSP library.

A ridiculous, rollicking adventure that's clearly been an explosive labor of love for the developers, you'll get more than enough fun for your money from this refreshingly different title.

We don't condone abusing animals, but we still recommend Hackycat for its intense touchscreen play, power-ups (rainbows are a godsend) and lighthearted presentation.

That said, Frontline Commando: D-Day still manages to stand out amongst the mobile game clutter because of its impressive visuals, overly dramatic music and non-stop action. Most importantly, it captures the spirit of World War II. This is one title we hope receives a flood of updates in the months ahead, but for now, it has a well-deserved place in our mobile game rotation.

Consider Mighty Switch Force! a short but undeniably sweet adventure, as well as another wonderful entry for the 3DS eShop. Well done, WayForward. Well done indeed.

On that note, Muramasa Rebirth comes highly recommended, as it provides a visually striking journey through demon-infested Japan. With two characters to play and a wealth of swords to unlock, you'll find plenty to love about this addictive game.

While not the most advanced RPG in the world, it manages to entertain through its AR mechanic, the desire to uncover new Denpa Men and the constant leveling. Definitely one of the quirkiest, most unique titles on 3DS, by far.

It's not perfect, as it lacks a little bit in some areas and could use a little boosting on the loading time, but it's still the most comprehensive and enjoyable handheld version of the game yet.

Another great platformer in a genre that is slowly shifting to 3-D, but hasn't made the movement quite yet. If you're looking for something thoroughly challenging and fun all the same, this is a dream come true.

Gurumin serves up a bevy of mostly entertaining fare via its lighthearted romp through a whimsical land of monsters and phantoms. Just don't expect a grandiose story or sweeping genre innovation, and despite its kiddie trappings and minor flaws you may be amazed at how fun this game can be.

There aren't nearly as many features as what's in the console versions, but, hey, at least what's here is stable.

The gameplay is pure classic Bomberman in Battle Mode, and the mini-games add some variety to the single-player game to make it a more enjoyable romp this time around.

Act of Fury: Kraine's Revenge was a pleasant surprise. If you seek a challenge and love the concept of annihilating things with gale force winds, it's a solid purchase.

For $20, you get your monies worth from Big Bang Mini. Multiplayer actually serves a purpose here (rather than being a tacked-on gimmick), and the single-player modes will keep you busy for hours. The best part? You won't lose any fingers.

They story is good enough to be in a book and if it weren't for the long-winded dialog, I would rate this game higher. I think if people treat Hotel Dusk more as an interactive novel than an actual game, they'll be less likely to be disappointed.

You can plow through Episode 1 in a couple of hours, but it's still time well spent, and the impressive presentation and story will keep you glued to the screen the whole time. Back to the Future can't escape its issues, but Telltale did what few publishers manage to achieve: do a movie franchise justice. Now give us Episode 2.

For two bucks, it's worth the investment.

Taken as a whole, The Walking Dead: Assault provides a welcome change of pace from the usual first and third person zombie shooters, with smartly designed squad-based mechanics. With more chapters due for release in the coming months, it's a game worth hanging on to, especially if you love the comics and/or TV show.

We could make the argument that extreme grinding to unlock the best goodies somewhat lessens the appeal, or that the developers priced things too high, but neither of these debatable issues ruin Slayin. If anything, it's an ideal game for those of us who grew up mashing buttons on those NES controllers, with a bowl of Teddy Grahams and Ecto-Cooler within reach for much-needed breaks.

This is an expertly crafted and fun adventure that makes a great portable companion.

You couldn't ask for a more faithful recreation of a slice of gaming history, and there's enough here to satisfy nostalgia-freaks, as well as those who missed out on the game the first time around.

One of the finest iOS games of the year. Not only does it offer impossible-to-resist gameplay, but Disney and Get Set Games also did a phenomenal job taking the Mega Run formula and applying it to a beloved film.

Kudos to Exient for making snowboarding fun again on the iPhone.

Asphalt 4: Elite Racing is worth every penny of its 800-point price, with a huge amount of racing action and great old-school controls. Buy it.

Overall, though, Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney has enough refreshing content and "legal good times" to keep you happily satisfied, with its well-integrated storyline, characters and touch-screen tools.

It all comes down to how much you're willing to invest. Personally, we grew tired of grinding and may never play Slam Dunk King again. PikPok went a little overboard with the prices, and it remains to be seen whether users will fork over the cash.

Duckers remains enjoyable and stands out for being the type of experience that'll keep you glued to the screen for several minutes or upwards of an hour. We'll stop short of calling it mindless, since there's a bit of strategy involved when it comes to treasure-hunting and avoiding stuff. In all, another quality effort from the folks at Retro Dreamer.

When we come to compile our games of the year this December, 10000000 will have a very high position on that list.

This is a worthy successor to the original Candy Crush Saga with plenty for newcomers and old fans alike. Just don't be surprised if you end up with some cavities after playing for an extended period of time.

For the most part, though, Lock 'n' Load provides several hours of dark, twisted fun.

While not the greatest platform game to grace iOS and Android, INC is without question one the best, with spot on controls (so long as you use the on-screen arrows instead of tilting) and a slick old school vibe.

Soul Bubbles will keep you engaged longer than the real thing and is definitely worth a look.

Taken for what it is, Mario and Donkey Kong: Minis on the Move is a cool title containing bite-sized content with portable gamers in mind. That said, we doubt you'll find much to dislike.

This is a quick, simple, and clean way to enjoy a fantastic card game on the go, and while it may be a far cry from the Game Boy Color version released so many years ago, it's a great start and an option that you'll want to choose if you want to reignite your love for the game or simply get started with it -- and besides, it's free!

Overall, though, it's still a step in the right direction for the 'hog, especially considering where he's been lulling over the past couple of years.

The game contains an intriguing blend of strategy, management and under-the-hood tinkering, and in contrast to the deceptive Tiny Tower there's much more genuine depth to the game beyond a superficial appeal to obsessiveness. Whether you felt burned out by that game or not, we highly recommend you try out NimbleBit's brand new addiction.

MLB 09: The Show is a solid portable baseball game, but a few changes would've made it a homerun.

Despite the fact little has changed, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 is one of the most playable golf games you'll stumble across, and it does justice to the PSP.

While the game is short, it never feels like you've wasted your money... the world is packed with little details to find, and there are also multiple endings which encourage replays.

Seeing as how it's $20, MGS:DGN is one of those "what the hell" purchases. Even if you're not a Metal Gear fan it's worth checking out, if for nothing else than to admire the slick art work and check out a confusing story that you might have missed.

In all, Tomb Raider Anniversary scores points for not taking the lazy route. Sure, it seems like a straight-up conversion of the PS2 game with no bonus modes or multiplayer of any kind, but at least it wasn't a half-assed port with no brain power put behind it.

The game is easy on the eyes, with detailed stages full of visually appealing treats. We don't know what's in that jelly, but we'd certainly like some.

Irreverent, eccentric, and with enough challenge to keep even the most accomplished Angry Bird expert on their toes, Swing King's 90-plus levels represent a dollar very well spent.
