Peace Walker is a fantastic addition to the franchise, so great that it's almost a shame that Kojima Productions didn't decide to name the game Metal Gear Solid 5. It's just that good and not being a proper numbered sequel might rob this game of the attention it so justly deserves. If you love the Metal Gear Series, do yourself a favour and buy this game.

Playing Shadow Complex it's impossible not to draw references to old two dimensional classics such as Super Metroid and Bionic Commando, sources of inspiration that developer Chair Entertainment openly recognizes. The 2.5D game engine not only looks great but works great, offering the player an intense and enjoyable journey all the way through. The adventure might be a bit on the short side, but given the quality and entertainment you're offered here there is no reason to let this one pass you by. One of the best packages you'll find on Xbox Live.

Much like its predecessors in many ways, but bigger and more varied. The multiplayer mode got new kill streaks, new objectives and an extreme number of unlockable content. Add a solid (but almost to intensive) campaign, a survival mode and the spec ops missions and you got a seriously great game.

Thanks to the variety of abilities and phenomenal level design, you can in many ways tackle Dishonored as you feel fit. It's a bit impersonal at times, but most elements of the game work really well.

Mario Kart 8 follows the well-known structure in the series and gives us a steady amount of game modes, even though Battle Mode isn’t nearly as good as it used to be. With a bunch of new and memorable courses it’s hard to not recommend Mario Kart 8, both for the fans of the previous titles as well as for newcomers.

Super Mario Maker is easily one of the best games on the Wii U, if not the best. It's so creative and so easy to learn that you will have no problem at all designing the Mario levels of your dreams, even if you are not that use to the do it yourself genre. Super Mario Maker is the game that the Wii U should have launched together with.

Dead Space is something as unusual as a modern classic in the horror-genre. Everything from the graphics, the sound, lighting, shadows and environments make up an experience that unrivaled by possibly none in the genre. Dead Space is one of the first games that can actually be called a frightening game. With an intense and intriguing storyline, production values to die for and a great system for character development this is easily one of the best games you'll be able to play this year.

The great success that was NHL 09 prompted EA to stay with the proven formula. What we get with NHL 10 is the same solid foundation of it's predecessor with minor tweaks to everything from gameplay to animations and AI. Passing and board play is now more realistic and when things don't go your way you can choose to let your fists do the talking. Despite some issues with framerate performance and AI intelligence we do feel that EA has taken the NHL franchise yet another step in the right direction.

There are a lot of things to be annoyed by in NHL 09, but then again this is one fantastic hockey experience. The on- and offline Be A Pro mode takes the experience to a new level and adds an addictive formula to an otherwise great list of improvements in this title. Flaky AI, odd bug-generated goals and other flaws are unfortunate blemishes to an otherwise great hockey experience. Nevertheless, this is a must buy for hockey fans.

80 Days is a unique experience that does pretty much everything the right way. The story is well written, as well as the dialoges, and you never now what to expect in the next city that you visit. The game isn't for everyone, but for those that looking for something new it is a must buy.

The Last of Us: Left Behind is an extension that continues in the same vein as the original. The combat system is tight and the production is impressive. The adventure is however plagued of much padding, and a story that is more ambitious than actually good. The weaker section of the two in the series but worth a look if you feel you did not get enough last time.

The latest iteration of the Tiger Woods franchise is as close to golfing perfection as you can come. There is a wealth of content to be found here, the controls work great and the overall atmosphere is great. If you're into golfing in any way this is a must buy.

Zen Studios pinball games keeps up its stride of great pinball games. There are some minor issues here and the price is kinda out there, but if you like pinball and you like Star Wars it’s just sort of perfect.

Bad Company 2 is a great sequel in every way. While improved compared to the first game the campaign mode still only offers a fleeting chunk of entertainment that serves as an appetizer for the online multiplayer mode where DICE, as usual, shine. While your ability to choose different settings for online battles are somewhat limited the actual matches are fun, intense and offer great improvement for the squad based experience.

Its intense battles combined with the unique graphical look and equally unique soundtrack makes The World Ends With You one of the most interesting titles to grace the DS right now. If you're patient enough to handle the somewhat complex gameplay and the text heavy dialogue, this is a title you definitely don’t want to miss out on.

The follow-up to one of last year's best games is an enchanted version of the same masterpiece. Battles are more expansive and go way deeper than before. The higher difficulty levels alongside the Iron Man Mode gives the gameplay an incredible nerve and challenge. Xcom Enemy Within might as well also be one of this years best games.

Electronics Arts are infamous for releasing sports games with bugs. This year though, the gameplay has been hugely improved and their new card based Hockey Ultimate Team is just as good as the FIFA version. For once there isn't much to get frustrated with in this year's NHL.

Even if Pokémon X & Y has graphics in 3D and several other gameplay innovations it is still the same core experience as before. Focus is as always on catching them all and it is still an addictive experience. The difficulty bar is lower than before, the online functions more present and the gameplay mechanics better realised.

With beautiful scenery and a simple yet warm story Ori and the Blind Forest offers an unforgettable experience. The controls could be a tad better and the gameplay does not really offer anything new, but it is still a welcome and successful addition to a genre that has become somewhat forgotten in recent years.

The 360-version of this popular pc-game looks and sounds amazing, but certain mechanics as well as the presentation are somewhat lacking. It's a game that tries a little too hard to be different.

Guacamelee is a very good mix of action and platform game in the vein of classical metroidvanias. The Mexican luchador theme is charming, the pacing is great and the combat and puzzles are challenging without being frustrating. An absolute must for fans of the sub-genre.

Being the sequel to the phenomenal Bioshock this title certainly has a lot to live up to, but Bioshock 2 does manage to deliver an engrossing and entertaining experience. There are virtually no innovation when it comes to the core concept and gameplay though and exploring Rapture often feels like a rehash of the first game. Despite the lack of new ideas the game is still very entertaining and the plot maintains the high standard set by the first game.

A rhythmic platformer with great music and visuals. It's easy to pick up and play, but clearing the harder levels is a real challenge. Addictive.

Slaying monsters has seldom been this addictive and rewarding, expecially if you play with friends. But the story is boring, the auction house ruins the balance and the variation within each class is too limited.

This year's edition of FIFA is more about new functions than polish. EA has made the transfer system better, made a smarter Virtual Pro game mode, more unique players and some fixes in the game engine. It's a great game that has become slightly better. That's enough this year.

A real killer app for the Vita, with tons of cozy charm. The campaign is great and the game makes good use of the Vita's touch controls. There is a lot of user created material too, thanks to the great level editor.

This game is like a modern version of the classic NES game Exite Bike. The controls works perfectly, but where are the online modes? Anyway, Joe Danger Special Edition is one of the best downloadable games this year.

This Need For Speed game is excellent. The Burnout developers have done a great job with filling the game with lots of content, and even strategic depth to the racing itself with various weapons. It's good looking during day-time races and it feels slick and easy to play both online and offline.

It is not too shabby to be a major. Animal Crossing New Leaf continues the series tradition of being as charming as it is relaxing. The repetitive nature of the tasks in the game has an allure that somehow never gets old. Fans will of course feel right at home and welcome the occasional tweaks and news the game has to offer. It’s just too bad that New Leaf while being a game with lots of content still offers very few surprises.

Beautiful rpg with a great story and big choices that adds to the replayability. The controls and combat system are a bit clumsy though.

Juan the luchador is back in a bigger and better adventure than ever before. More levels, a new boss and even deeper combat are more than enough new features to make you want to play this game again. The enemies are still too few though and the new elite-skeletons are just annoying to fight.

The best manager game on the market at the moment. With the new focus on being accessible for anyone, they broaden the target group but there is still the depth that the hardcore fans are looking for.

What visual novel Steins;Gate lacks in gameplay it certainly makes up for with one of the best, most complex and most touching stories I have experienced in video games. It centers around a few youths in Tokyo who accidentally invents a machine that can send messages back in time. The mix of science fiction and drama is further lifted by its memorable characters, in part thanks to good Japanese voice actors. On the negative side, the rare parts of interaction among all text boxes feel a bit illogical at times, some of the characters are less memorable and there is a little bit of unnecessary fan service. These things will hardly be on the mind of anyone getting into the story though.

A somewhat slow start paired with controls that aren't perfect is soon overshadowed by terrific gameplay and a surprisingly good multiplayer mode.

Ikaruga is one of the most challenging, fun and addictive vertical shooters out there, and the latest platform to be graced by this title is Xbox Live. This is definitely a challenging game, and the total of five levels is a bit on the short side, but the lean price tag of 800 Microsoft Points is more than justified for such a great gaming experience.

It's a shame that the controls are somewhat blocking the experience and that the serial killer story sometimes goes over the top, but Heavy Rain has some outstanding scenes, great animations, beautiful design and is one of the most interesting games in the last couple of years.

Very time demanding strategic RPG that is heavy on the menus, but has lots of content, great tactical combat and an involving story.

A lack of statistics and too long loading times are some minuses in a great racing game. Good looking, great feel, fun party game modes and split screen support.

A very good tower defense game with a lot of unlockable weapons and many types of enemies, that is hard but never unfair.

The Swapper is a unique experience that will charm any fan of science fiction as well as fans of games like Braid, Metroid and Castlevania. The game looks and sounds beautiful and the cloning mechanics are both novel, creative and challenging.

Batman: Arkham Knight is the best looking game in the series so far, and includes a lot of cool stuff for fans of Batman. But at the same time it’s starting to feel like Rocksteady is almost too comfortable. It lacks new content, except the pretty bad designed Batmobile parts. If you haven’t played the previous games that much you will probably think that this is one of the best games this year.

A solid racing experience that pleases both car enthusiast and beginners alike. Forza Motorsport 6 adjusts to your prerequisites and needs. The mistakes of it’s predecessor stand corrected, making Forza 6 truly the definitive version of the series.

This is a great game, simple as that. It's filled to the brim with content and charming fun-filled adventures topped with a good gameplay. Not much to complain about really, except for the notoriously imprecise shake controls.

Treyarchs return to the CoD franchise is not likely to disappoint, especially if you're a fan of the well known CoD-multiplayer. It's an excellent online game with lots of customizations. However, the campaign could have been a lot better.

For those who want to play alone Towerfall Ascension is a smart, fun and challenging puzzle game that sadly won’t last too long. On the contrary it becomes a nearly magical experience together with three friends. When it comes to deep party games that are easy to pick up this is one of the best ones.

In many ways Tearaway is a charming, fun and unique platform game. The use of Media Molecules world of paper feels fresh and different but also comes with a fair share of frustration. And not in the way of a challenge. In all a solid platformer worth the money.

Hotline Miami is ludological entertainment at its finest. It is a game about grinding levels and that practice makes perfect. It is also a game about exploring new narratives and discussing the video game worlds fascination with violence and gore. A must play.

BlazBlue: Continuum Shift offers intense and varied fighting for both beginners and advanced players. The story is good but a bit heavy to get through and overall it's an incredibly smart and effective fighting game with great depth.

By now Nintendo have mastered the art of crafting Pokemon adventures that are utterly addictive and thoroughly enjoyable. The additions to the formula are minor, as always, but the ability to improve your Pokémons by means of simply walking about in real life, monitored by the bundled step counter. With years of refinement to the formula and a health promoting accessory this may very well be the best game in the series yet.

Reaper of Souls isn't filled with new innovative ideas but thanks to the new content, together with a most needed patch, Diablo 3 have taken a big step towards its full potential. The classic feeling of "only one more time" is stronger than ever.

Playing as a young boy with the mission of saving an overly cute world might not be the most unique concept to bless the Wii, but in this case the formula is surprisingly addictive. If you in any way enjoy the gameplay and concept offered in other titles such as Animal Crossing and Harvest Moon this is a game you'll thoroughly enjoy.

It's a really beautiful game with lots of nice touches and a co-op mode that is great fun. But the level design is bumpy and the boss fights are crippled.

Actually a Pokémon game with some news. The online modes have been polished, there's new pokémons, quick, better animated battles and better graphics.

Codemasters were wise enough to build upon the successful formula of the first game when creating Dirt 2 and simply add a deeper career mode as well as a more fleshed out online mode. Here you can throw yourself into everything from intense rally-cross circuits to racing in the open stretches of wilderness, or even dust filled Baja races. Gameplay refinements makes the actual driving feel fun and engaging and the ability to rewind time to correct mistakes is a welcome addition to say the least. Too few exiting new additions to the career mode is the only thing keeping the grade for this otherwise awesome racing game at bay.

Treasure, of Gunstar Heroes fame, are back to show us that they still know what it takes to make a great on rails shooter experience. Few got to experience the original Sin and Punishment title but luckily Treasure delivered with this sequel, boasting beautifully rendered graphics, intense and challenging gameplay, varied action and solid controls. Though it's a bit on the short side and there's really no plot to experience this is still a fantastic experience for those who aren't deterred by a challenging masterpiece.

Spelunky provides a serious but just challenge with great controls, clever items and a fantastic system for randomizing levels. It's a shame it hasn't been advertised more than it has.

Three boards, each with it's own Star Wars related theme. The Episode V: Empire Strikes Back became a clear favorite with a lot of hidden content. Sure there is room for improvement here and there but this is about as good as a Star Wars pinball could ever be.

Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the first sin is a package that includes far more than expected. Not only do we get one of the best game from last gen, it’s in all ways an improvement over the original version. A must-play for those who never have played Dark Souls 2 before.

Resistance 2 is a great game in every way. The presentation is slick, the pacing is great, the story gains momentum after a somewhat slow start and the multiplayer is as meaty as it is fun. Even though this game lacks that little extra something to distinguish it from it's competitors this fall it's still fantastic experience and the robust multiplayer mode with support for up to 60 players is reason enough to give this title a try.

Flower can be seen as a statement about society versus nature, to be interpreted by the player as he or she wishes. To be specific it's a game where you fly a leaf from a flower through nature, in the process gathering other leaves. As time goes by your entourage of leaves grow in size and before you know it you've got enough to bring life back to the previously barren fields. Flower is as much of a meditative experience as it is a beautiful piece of art. A subjective experience as this is hard to grade, but a great experience it is if you're susceptible.

Sort falling condos after colour and serve them to hungry monsters. Hysterical design (in a good way) and a good example of "just one more time" gameplay.

Pikmin 3 manages to combine stressful strategy with relaxing environments and cute creatures. The game is a great example of the Wii U:s capability of making improvements to existing gameplay formulas. Pikmin 3 is charming, stressful, cozy and challenging.

The driving mechanics in Race Driver: Grid might not suit everyone, but they’re really solid none the less. If you want over the top driving with exaggerated acceleration, braking efficiency and grip, this is the game for you. The ability of turn back time to repair your mistakes is a great new feature. We haven’t had this much fun with a driving game since Flatout Ultimate Carnage.

The usual Ratchet & Clank mixture of platform elements, problem solving and shooting, but the best game in the series so far. Insomniac gives us a large universe to explore freely with smarter problems, a well-needed higher difficulty setting and lots of things to collect.

No battles, puzzles or magnificent vistas. And still Gone Home is nothing short of an amazing experience. It’s one of the finest games ever to use exploration and discovery as storytelling. It may be short but it is a story that will stay with you forever.

Almost disgustingly cute about a yarn-made Kirby in a colourful world full of cuteness. Under the surface there's a really great platforming game with lots of good ideas and a nice co-op mode.

The Nathan Drake Collection is an ambitious collection, that includes three of the best action adventure games from the last generation. What makes the collection better than the average remaster is the improvements, that the developer Blueprint have added. The graphics are almost as good as many of the games today, and the controls have gotten an improvement.

The addition of gunpowder brings a whole new layer of strategic complexity to the battlefield. An expansion pack that manages to improve upon an already great game.

This year's edition is more streamlined and misses some of the more complicated and somewhat unnecessary features that has plagued the more recent editions. Instead, the core focus lies on finding players that fits efficient strategies. Sadly the interface is rather messy and the game is filled with bugs.

Round 4 is a really solid boxing experience and a major step forward for the franchise. The already solid foundations laid in it's predecessor have been polished and the controls are close to perfect. The career mode is the one major component we can complain about, but any flaws found there are instantly remedied by the intense fighting during matches.

Velocity 2X is a lightning-fast, varied and extremely entertaining game that seamlessly mixes different genres in creative ways. It’s a must-own for the Playstation 4 as well as the PS Vita and hopefully a future speedrunning classic.

In a genre that hasn't really made progress since the era of 16-bit consoles, Valkyria Chronicles manages to innovate while at the same time being an utterly charming experience. The presentation is certainly easy on the eyes and is reminiscent of other aesthetically innovative experiences such as Otomos Steamboy, Miyazakis Howl's moving castle and Level-5's Jeanne D'arc. A welcome addition to the PS3-library.

Shovel Knight is an action filled side scrolling adventure that have a lot in common with challenging classics like Mega Man and Duck Tales. There are some badly designed levels and too many trial and error moments, but for the most part Shovel Knight is a good reminder that games were a bit more rewarding back in the days.

Smash Party is the typical sequel to last year's phenomenal party game Boom Blox - you're simply treated to more of everything. This means that you'll find an impressive quantity of content but a meager supply of new features. One feature to note is the ability to download and play content created by other player - a feature that will in theory provide an endless supply of new content for fans of the first game.

A great rpg with fast pacing, clever story and battles that are both engaging and tactically challenging. A little disappointing lack of freedom in the last couple of hours, but despite this Clash of Heroes is a must for all fans of the genre.

The fourth part in the Saints Row saga is an outrageous, silly and incredibly entertaining adventure. The days of Grand Theft Auto is since long gone and the game reminds you rather of the super hero games Crackdown and Infamous. An unexpected but welcome change.

If you're a fan of either Metallica or Guitar Hero, this is a must have gaming and music experience. There are 49 songs to play in the package and all of them works great on any of the supported instruments. Great music, presentation and atmosphere makes this one of the best rhythm game experiences available on the market.

The formula of Monster Hunter is still intact in the latest version. It is not a conventional role playing game with distinct leveling, it puts more emphasis on the progression of the player itself. Depending on one's preferences, the high difficulty is either entertaining or frustrating. The worthless camera will however make everyone unnecessarily angry.

On the surface you might get the impression that little has changed between the second and third installment of EA's life simulator, but when you delve deeper into the experience you'll find a game that offers you more unique characters, an increased ability to participate in social activities outside of the confines of the house and less focus on tedious daily chores. For the first time your sim and the world surrounding him/her feels truly unique. As per usual you only get the basic features in the package, leaving an almost clean slate ready for future expansions. Nevertheless, EA's done it again and you'll find countless hours of great fun here.

A creative, innovative and at the same time familiar action game that make its rivals feel ancient. Instead of spending the budget on great graphics and expensive production values, Respawn Entertainment has invested in making an interesting and unique action game. While the campaign mode is more of a nice idea than a well-executed one, the online mode is a window to intuitive, engaging and varied entertainment.

God of War: Ghost of Sparta is in every way a competent addition to the series. The storyline is good, if not the deepest in the series, and everything from design to the graphics are quite spectacularly well for the platform. It should give you between eight and ten hours of play, so you definitely get more for your money this time.

On the surface Trials HD doesn't seem to offer all that much. Somewhat shoddy bikes and exaggerated physics are supplemented by over the top trial and error obstacle courses. Making your way through these courses is no walk in the park, but the overall gameplay is so fun and addictive you'll try to beat them over and over again. This one of the true gems available on Xbox Live.

Taking the simple and aged concept of Punch Out and updating it for a modern day console is no obvious feat, but Next Level Games has definitely pulled it off with grandeur. The boxing is fun, the roster of fighters is both charming and well assembled and the different modes offered does give this title some bang for it's buck. Although there are some flaws to be found they are nowhere near enough to deter gamers from punching their way through what's definitely one of the most entertaining experiences you'll find on the Wii.

Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons invites you to a classic fairy tale, with two brothers searching for the cure to their fathers illness. The story is somewhat too mundane to reach emotional depth, even if it still is a nice one. The best part of the game is instead the mechanics of controlling both brothers with different analog sticks.

The third 8 out of 10 in a row for the Professor Layton series. There's not much news here, but it's an extremely well-made adventures with great movies and a very charming style that is easy to fall for again and again. Problem solution is clever and the characters memorable. A must for puzzle fans who didn't get tired of the predecessors.

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is a game that feels locked between two worlds. Not only between to generations of consoles but between a run of the mill AC-game and an astonishing pirate game. It’s not only a well needed spark to the series as much it’s a redefining of it. Everything that is use is great and everything old feels like it should be thrown overboard. Try it regardless of your thoughts about earlier Assassin’s Creed games.

Dance Central 2 is actually a pretty good workout game with a nice little career mode. The soundtrack mostly features radio hits, but the songs from Dance Central can be unlocked for a small price.

Action rpg with excellent design, a lot of content and upgrades, cool commentary and fun battles.

When Diablo III enters the living room some things are worse, but for the most part things are better. Controlling your character with the gamepad is effortless and dungeon raiding with four players in co-op is a an amazing experience. It feels a little odd to say, but Diablo's true home is on your TV.

After it's initial months on the market it has become clear that WAR is an MMO to be reckoned with. It's focus on player versus player action is what sets this game apart from other MMOs and that very focus is what makes it a great experience. Developer Mythic has worked hard on improving the experience and weeding out the issues that initially plagued the experience, something that motivates players to revisit the experience again and again. If you're a bit fed up with the run of the mill MMO-experiences out there this is a great title to bet your money on.

Lots of small improvements and greatly enhanced AI. Still a lot of bugs though that takes the edge off the otherwise nice experience.

Forza Horizon 2 offers intense and over the top racing in a fully open world. In one moment you are driving along a beautiful coastal road, and a few minutes later you are crashing through a vineyard with debris flying everywhere. Unfortunately the off-road racing leaves a lot to be desired and lacks polish. But when you are on the road, Forza Horizon 2 is one of the most entertaining racing experiences ever made.

A good sequel that improves upon the original and does most things right. Sadly a couple of misses such as lack of checkpoints and clunky controls stands in the way of a higher grade.

The Taken King is an expansion that transformers Destiny into the game it should have been a year ago. The new content is more thought out and gives the end game a much needed boost of variety. Perfect gameplay is something that Destiny has had since day one. With The Taken King the contents is starting to get to the same level.
