Xenoblade Chronicles is injected with new life as it is turned into a portable game. It lacks content updates but it is still a remarkable experience. The new 3DS might seem like a tight fit for the large adventure, but the addition of the c-stick makes it effortless to control.

Engaging story, smart battles, beautiful soundtrack and lengthy campaign. A great rpg that needs to be released in Europe.

The fifth entry in the Splinter Cell franchise is finally here and introduces a way more action oriented gameplay experience than what we're used to. It takes a while getting used to and does enable a run and gun approach. Less stealth, less gadget and more action. While it's not the Splinter Cell of yore it's still a great action experience and the cooperative campaign is great fun.

The developers behind Serious Sam have taken the step from simple action to really smart puzzling. The Talos Principle isn’t as good as Portal, but probably one of the best games of the genre in the last couple of years.

Cities Skylines borrow the best parts from Sim City, cuts the price tag by half and at the same time fixes the flaws from Maxis game. In short terms: this is the best city planning game we have seen over the past decade.

A fun tower defense-game, where you play as the bad guys, trying to stop the heroes from stealing your treasures by using monster, magic and traps.

Level 5's highly anticipated collaboration with Studio Ghibli is just as great as it looks. And it looks great. The art style is exactly what you'd expect from Studio Ghibli, and the same goes for the music. Battles are fought with familiars, that you collect and train throughout the game. It's not a revolution, but it does almost everything right.

Despite the first game feeling a bit old, the second and third game of The Sly Collection are great. The graphics and controls feels surprisingly good and the games are longlasting. Sadly, some problems from the old games remains and the Playstation-Move support within the game is really just a gimmick and doesn't add anything to the experience.

Nice use of the 3D effect, a lot of content, great controls and simply the best release game on the console.

A turn based strategy game, set in a courtroom with a great atmosphere and fun dialogue. It takes a little too long for the difficulty to kick in, and the game mechanics feel a bit too simple at times.

A new title in the Tomb Raider series whose focus lies on co-op and puzzle-solving. A polished game with few letdowns.

Bravely Deafult is the best game from Square-Enix in a long time and a must for fans of classic Final Fantasy. The battle and work system, as well as the history and the graphics is natural progresses of a gamemaking many deemed nostalgic.

Like it's predecessors the gameplay in Red Faction: Guerilla is heavily focused on the destructible environments, this time focusing on the environments rather that the geography. And smashing your way through the game is pure entertainment - despite some bugs and odd sudden deaths. With a solid and equally entertaining multiplayer mode we have no problem recommending this game for gamers everywhere.

The second installment in the Loco Roco franchise offers us much of what we were offered in the first installment, with some minor yet appealing additions. The graphical style is just as cute as it was the last time around and the music is absolutely charming. Minor additions, such as a rhythm based minigame, really does a lot for the experience. The levels are more varied than in the first game and there are tons of things to do and find. It might not be a revolution, but it's an incredibly entertaining platforming experience.

A lot better story than the first Crysis, top notch graphics, smart game mechanics based on the nano suit and a nice multiplayer mode.

This fourth entry in the series offers a great production value with a slower tempo, allowing you to perfect your techniques. The character creation mode is the stand out feature offering gamers a jam packed mode with a slew of options for creating unique characters. New features such as Soul Gauge and Critical Attacks go unnoticed though. Despite this, and a somewhat uneven balance in the character roster, Soul Calibur IV is a great value for your money. This is fighting games at it's best.

If you are looking towards a horror game without action and only the atmosphere in mind, this is an obvious choice. The ending leaves room for improvement and there could be more types of enemies, but the game as a whole is impressive.

Forza Horizon pulls off a splendid mix of arcade racing and simulator and impresses both visually and in driving mechanics. The presentation and attitude could be better and the game really flaunts it's coming DLC packs.

Football Manager 2010 came with several welcome news, and this year's version only updates what was good in its predecessor. Here's interesting news that the communication with agents, players and media, some new training options and an updated game engine. Football Manager 2011 is a very complex, well crafted, engaging and time-consuming game, but if you have the predecessor, you must be a big fan to buy this.

It doesn't have the deepest game mechanics, and some moments feels somewhat confusing. But Stick of Truth may be the most genuinely entertaining game I've played in a long time. It is just like a long and thought out South Park episode with simple yet very entertaining gameplay. It isn't perfect, but as a South Park experience, it is spot on.

A wonderful gaming world with lots of content, but also a lot of bugs, control issues, very time consuming, boring characters, too much looking at a loading screen and a lackluster story. Instead of fixing what was broken Ubisoft have just added more content.

Super Smash Bros for Nintendo 3DS succeeds in the art of taking the best elements from the previous installments and create a game that is just as good for the casual player as the hardcore gamer. The only real limitation comes in the form of the controls and smaller screen, but on the other hand, we have a portable Smash Bros now.

Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster is still an enjoyable adventure, mostly for those who played it back in the days. But even new players that are interested in the history of Final Fantasy can find some interesting mechanics here. The battle system is still intuitive and Spira is in all way as beautiful as ever. Even if the differences between the original and the remastered version can seem a bit small at first they become obvious in a direct comparison.

Shovel Knight is a solid sidescrolling action-platformer influenced by such classics as Mega Man and Duck Tales. Graphics, soundtrack and game mechanics will surely bring back childhood memories for past NES-owners. Same goes for the challenging difficulty level, but responsive controls and a few clever modern touches makes the game feel fair and fresh. All in all an impressive achievement by another Kickstarter-funded game.

If you didn't like the earlier Mario Kart games, then Mario Kart 7 most likely won't convert you. But for fans it's one of the best in the series especially while playing with friends.

Four great games presented in full HD and 60 fps. Add tons of multiplayer options and interesting bonus content, like the TV-show Nightfall. Unfortunately you also have to add some jarring technical issues and an online mode that barley works – and even if it did it’s missing some important options like the ability to play Halo CE maps only. Halo: The Master Chief Collection should be a fantastic collection, but at the moment it just isn’t.

Boom Blox is a great puzzle game that manages to entertain with simple means. The controls are fun and intuitive enough for anyone to be able to pick up and play the game. Despite the simple gameplay it never grows old or monotonous. Add the ability to build your own levels and you get a long lasting and greatly entertaining game for you and your friends.

This one will get your adrenalin pumping! UFC Undisputed 3 is not perfect, but it's a great representation of digital MMA.

Brave New World is without a doubt the best expansion to Civilization V. The core gameplay modes and win states has received great and well needed updates which gives a more varied and balanced experience. Of course there is still some dead air during the game sessions but the new content will disappoint no one. Even if it is three years old Civilization V is with this expansion still one of the best ways to combine entertainment with education.

Prince of Persia is reeks with atmosphere and appealing graphics, definitely one of the graphical highlights of the year. It's an easy going adventure where you utilize the ever so limber prince and the beautiful princess in order to traverse the courses and their obstacles. Fighting enemies certainly looks good, but they seldom turn out to be very exiting, a feeling that can be applied to the overall experience. This is a beautiful gaming experience but you won't find much in the way of excitement nor challenge.

It's a bit disappointing that the remake of Tomb Raider could not deliver any new content of value, but the graphics and next-gen effects are eye candy that is more than welcome. This is not enough for the already saved to buy Lara Croft's latest adventure again, but the game is still a shining example of an entertaining action adventure that should be experienced.

Ninja Theory are calling the DMC shots now and they're doing it well. The fighting mechanics are a little bit easier to master and perhaps not as deep as before, but on the other hand the storytelling is improved with skillfully crafted cutscenes. Put up with a rather dull introduction and you're in for a great game.

Sucker Punch, known for the phenomenal Sly Cooper series, has introduced one of the best PS3 games to date and what could very well be the best superhero game ever. The storytelling, although aesthetically impressive, is executed somewhat hastily and could have been a bit more fleshed out. This is just a minor flaw in a game that does everything else extremely well. The controls are flawless and the electrical powers are absolutely awesome. The city is grand - to take a leap from a tall building is nothing short of exhilarating - and it feels very much alive. Having superpowers in a game has never been as cool as this.

Papers, Please manages to be both unique and creative. Often times thoughtful, stressful and comical it creates a thick atmosphere with both story and gameplay. Easily one of the best downloadable games of 2013.

A MMORPG that doesn't differentiate itself very much from other popular MMORPG titles (like World of Warcraft), but with a greater focus on story, companions and of course the Star Wars setting, The Old Republic is still a solid game.

Far Cry 2 manages to lend the open world of typical RPG:s and mend it into a first person shooter. The trouble is that the game's world isn't properly adapted to the openness of the gameplay, leading to lots of tedious stretches of transportation. A somewhat silly AI and extremely tough enemies dampens what is otherwise a really competent shooter.

Battlefield: Bad Company is an attempt to lure the Battlefield-audience to the consoles, and it's one fine attempt. The qualitative and humorous single player campaign is a fun experience that introduces the player to the gameplay in a great way. The real blockbuster feature here is the online mode which is jam packed with great features and modes, all of which are greatly enhanced by the destructible environments. All in all, this is one great experience.

Sticking with the premise of previous titles, the meat of this title is in the online mode. If this isn't your cup of tea the longevity of this title is limited to say the least. Treyarch were handed the best console fps-controls and online mode and all they've really done with it is to set it in a new era. If you're up for a great fps experience set in the WWII-era, this is a great title to buy.

A turn based soccer game based on dice and constantly collecting new, better players. There's smart tactics under the seemingly random game mechanics. Be prepared to spend many hours getting your dream team together.

Rare Replay is a collection of 30 classic Rare titles. Even though some of the games have aged terribly and others suffer from minor technical issues, the vast majority still entertains greatly. It is a shame that some of Rares biggest titles are absent, but it is hard to complain when the included content will last for months. A collection well worthy of Rare's anniversary.

Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor remixes influences from both the Batman: Arkham and Assassin's Creed-series together with it's own ideas and the result is the best Lord of the Rings game so far. The story may not carry all the way but this is a violent, intelligent and varied action game that rewards creativity and strategy from the player.

To control your soccer team by giving them orders via the Wiimote can be difficult and frustrating at first, but the fact is that this is a really excellent interpretation of the PES concept for the Wii. If you own a classic controller you can experience this in a fashion similar to the PS2 editions. Had this title supported two player matches in all the modes this would have been a triple A title. Instead it's just a really good soccer experience for the Wii.

A perfect example of smart and simple touch controls. A great gaming experiences.

Manage a village and attract heroes to stop by and fight monsters and raid dungeons. A charming simulator with strong rpg-elements.

A rhythm platformer with a great focus on user created material. It has a nice minimalistic feel and playing to Beck's "Cities" is a great experience, but other than that Sound Shapes falls a little short.

Yet again a great boxing game in the series. Boring training routines and irritating load times keep it from the higher grades.

A product that seems to be aimed at teenage boys, but a tight control and smart combat is too good to be missed.

The highly awaited Battlefield 3 gives a twofold impression. There's a single player campaign that looks and sounds great but is extremely linear and scripted and provides no room for thinking outside the box. On the other hand there's a simply fantastic multiplayer mode, that may well be the best multiplayer experience that this year has to offer. If you're interested in multiplayer warfare, then Battlefield 3 is the game for you.

Despite several flaws, UFC: Undisputed 2010 undoubtedly delivers where it matters most: In the ring. This is nothing like the jolly arcade fighters we are used to; it is a raw and unforgiving fighting simulator.

Despite taking time before being fully enjoyable, Monster Hunter Tri features improvements that make it more accessible than its predecessors. While being in no way revolutionary, the slightly improved learning curve and the online mode improve the game in much needed ways.

Halo 5: Guardians is an entertaining action adventure whose fate rests on whether the online mode works or not (still to early to raise the green flag). Besides that, it's a really well made Halo game. The graphics are detailed, and the frame rate is smoother that ever. The campaign is solid enough, but lacks those memorable moments that defined the first couple of games in the series.

Football Manager 2012 comes with a new user interface and is more accessible then ever. When your players score, your team starts making money and the fans chant your name - this game is an amazing experience.

The South Park add-on is yet another great addition to the Zen Pinball platform. The main table is filled with memorable lines, classic characters and fun missions that South Park fans will love. The second table is a bit low on content, but it’s still entertaining and good for newcomers. It’s a shame that the table don’t include more of the series offensive humor, but it’s a small complaint on an otherwise excellent package.

If you're a fan of the first game but found it somewhat flawed in some areas, this sequel does a good job on rectifying almost all of them. The visuals are somewhat improved, the plot is interesting and full of fun characters and gameplay is solid. Minor technical flaws aren't enough to dampen the overall experience all too much.

NBA 2K14 introduces a deeper and more advanced steering, which is welcome for all of us who don’t manage the more tactic side of the game. Prostick is a great addition and NBA 2K14 is a game that grows the more you invest in it and the more you know about the sport.

This is the game that Sid Meyer always wanted to make, and it shows. It retains the core elements that makes the series great, but with greater focus on battles and with a faster pace. An intuitive interface and great graphics makes this title a blast to play, and the flaws aren't enough to deter even the most seasoned gamers.

Spore is easily one of the most ambitious games ever made and it's impossible not to be impressed by the finished product. The possible variations in what you can create feel close to endless and the ability to share these creations with other people adds a lot to the package. The five main phases of the game vary in quality, but the final phase that ties the experience together will impress you. Will Wright adds another triple-A title to his collection.

An explosion of colours and cool combos and at the same time a great depth, smooth controls and even a great fighting game for beginners.

Survive a zombie outbreak in a game that sometimes feels more like an interactive movie. The story is great though.

An impressive-looking shooter with a well-balanced tempo and great sound effects and really good Move support. The campaign is a bit too sloppy told and the game is not as unique as Killzone 2 was, but it's still a great game.

At a higher difficulty F1 2011 really starts to shine and show what a great racing experience it is.

I thought that I would be tired of Layton after the first game but Pandoras Box proves me wrong. It isn’t only the problem solving that stands in focus but the mixture of puzzles, storytelling and characters that makes this a charming adventure. The game is a must for people who like puzzle games and a given for fans of the original. Just don’t except too much of a change.

In Crysis Warhead developer Crytek answers a lot of the criticism aimed at the original Crysis. There is more action to be found in Warhead, the pacing is faster and more intense than in it's predecessor. A tighter and more intense storyline also means fever hours of gameplay, but the ones accounted for are great enough to earn this game a high score.

An open world street racer set in an interesting city. There's a lot of things to do, but they get pretty repetitive after a while. The autolog for online competition is brilliant though.

This is about as spectacular, insane and frustrating a racing game can get and still be remarkably entertaining. Despite lacking in depth and not following its own rules at times, Split/Second's variation and the sheer awesomeness it occasionally offers makes this a game for any arcade racing fan.

A unique card battle game with some good ideas, but it lacks the collection part and the design is awful.

It has its flaws. The table feels plastic, the career mode is way too thin and there are no alternative game modes. Except that the game is fantastic with 93 tracks and an amusing control. A music game has never got me this hooked before.

Fallout: New Vegas is a competent addition to the franchise, in many ways outshining Fallout 3 and in some falling a bit short. Obsidian have created a great rpg set in a vast world filled to the brim with content and a plot worth seeing through to end. Unfortunately the game is plagued with numerous technical issues which mar the experience. A great game once a patch is released.

Resogun might not be the most amazing game released alongside the Playstation 4, but its intense gameplay still makes it a good one. The levels are few but great in design and fun. It’s not as great as Housemarque's title Super Stardust HD but good enough for a couple of hours of entertainment.

Frictional Games delivers yet another great horror game. On top of the scary monsters and scream-out-loud-moments we’re accustomed to it’s also a deep journey into both the protagonists and the players mind, with many philosophical and moral questions that both frightens and fascinates.

Marvel Pinball Vengeance and Virtue introduces four new boards, some of which are fantastic. They're not better then the first Marvel Pinball, but a must have for pinball fans.

Pubertal and over the top sandbox gaming that is just a lot of fun to play.

After a slow start in GT5, it's apparent that Polyphony has created an amazing racing experience. The feel of driving in the game is excellent and the cars look fantastic. The game is filled with more content than ever, with gokart and nascar races keeping you on your toes when you don't want to play the great normal races. While it's not flawless, Ployphony might have created the greatest racing-simulator of all time with Gran Turismo 5.

Skate 2 is just like its predecessor - a great skating simulator. The only thing holding the game back is the technical expertise of developer Black Box. There are a good number of questionable collisions, running while being off the skateboard feels a bit awkward, framerates are unsteady at times and numerous other minor flaws are just some reasons as to why this game doesn't earn a higher grade. Skate 2 is everything we wanted after the original was released - more of the same great content.

Play as Death, the fourth rider of the apocalypse and fight your way to victory. It's not very memorable, but the art style is great and there's a lot to collect in the big world.

It is a successful mixture of first person shooter and role playing elements. The story is thin and unexciting and the world shows a rather low variation on environment and enemies. The different character classes complement each other and raise the experience a notch and if you play the game with a couple of friends the faults are less obvious and irritating.

Even though the adventure genre nowadays is filled with great games, Grim Fandango feels almost as good as it did 1998. The remastered version has some technical flaws that should’ve been taken care of and the puzzles aren’t always on top, but besides that this is a game that no one should miss. Easily one of the best adventures of all time.

Abe's adventure is better than ever in this remake of the Playstation-classic from 1997. The charm from the original remains intact even though the game has taken a huge technical leap from 2D into a 3D-plattformer with beautiful graphics. Unfortunately the controls feel rather outdated at times but at the end of the day this slight problem is nothing that ruins Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty from being a brilliant remake of an instant classic.

In this year's installment FIFA doesn’t take any larger leaps forward. It is still a polished football game for the dedicated fan base. And for the player who doesn’t want to play alone Ultimate Team is probably better than ever. But it is still too bad that EA hasn’t worked more on improving the core mechanics of the game.

Trine 2 is a fantasy platforming game that is the most fun in cooperation. It's short, but the design and the animations are extraordinary. One of the most beautiful games this year.

One of the best games on DS is even better in HD. A must for everyone that doesn't hate puzzle rpg's.

Vanquish cheers up the cover genre with a high-tech armor and polished game mechanics. Neither the characters or the story is impressive, but you rarely forget a perfect game control.

Even though there are still a lot of things that needs to be addressed in the formula, this iteration of the Tiger Woods franchise is still the best one to date with spot on gameplay mechanics. For those who have been disappointed with the series latest iterations, this is a great year to get back into it.

With F1 2010 you get to drive good looking cars against clever opponents and experience a racing game with a very realistic racing experience. All those positives make the negatives passable, such as long loading times, bad damage system and bothersome pit stops.

This is definitely a worthy salutation to the original Space Invaders, celebrating it's 30th anniversary. Like it's predecessor this game delivers fun and addictive yet challenging gameplay mechanics. Great presentation and a fitting soundtrack combine to create an intense experience. A great buy for fans of the original game and newcomers alike.

If you can handle the pubertal humour and crappy dialogue and like the idea of a gory FPS with points for nice kills - this might be something for you.

The definitive edition of DMC offers 60 fps and 1080p, a most welcome contribution to the game. In any other ways this is a version that doesn’t feel new in any way. The graphics looks outdated and the gameplay comes a bit short compared to Bayonetta 2. It is a pretty good game even today, but it isn’t without flaws.

Pit the angel returns in a game that features complex rpg-elements, great music, smart use of the 3D functions and splendid gameplay. But the controls are literally painful, even with the Circle Pad Pro.

A slow paced and highly complex RTS with focus on ecology.

Donkey Kong Country Returns for the 3DS is basically the same game that launched on the Nintendo Wii for nearly three years ago. The smaller format has made some of the levels harder to navigate but it shouldn’t discourage anyone from checking out this portable version of one of the best platform games of all time.

Ultra Street Fighter IV is the best version of Street Fighter so far. The option to take both of your ultra attacks into combat leads to a deeper and more challenging game. On the other hand it starts to show that Capcom have been making a little to many games in the series by now and for the casual player this update isn’t really a must buy.

Halo 3: ODST is, as a single player experience, a very short one at roughly five to six hours for the main campaign. The structure of said campaign would benefit from focusing more on the action oriented parts, which are great, instead of shoehorning stealth elements into the mix. As per usual the campaign does grow when experienced with up to three friends in four player co-op, and the same goes for the multiplayer co-op mode Firefight. Add to this a second disc with the complete Halo 3 multiplayer experience and you've got a delectable smorgasbord of Halo treats.

One of the best puzzle adventures for the DS. A quirky idea with great animations and easy control.

The fifth installment in this long running and popular series is likely to split its fan base in two camps: the ones that dislike the more action oriented gameplay and those who just wanted more of the same sweet stuff they experienced in part four. Resident Evil 5 is in every aspect a natural progression from the previous installment. Updated visuals and fabulous environments do a great job of framing the intense action. The entire game has been modeled to be played in co-op, and playing through the game with a friend is truly a great gaming experience. It might be quite the leap from the first Resident Evil game, but it's an amazing experience none the less.

This War of Mine focuses on civilians rather than armed soldiers. It is extremely refreshing even though the game shows the dreadful constituents of war. With a dense atmosphere and an impressive depth, this is one of the decade's most important cultural experiences.

For starters, this is not the Need for Speed of yore. Shift represents a true attempt from EA to create an authentic racing experience, a successful attempt that brings the Need for Speed name out of the shadows and into our racing hearts. Shift is meant to be experienced from the cockpit view where the rattling of your head at collisions and the blurring of your vision at high speeds work together to immerse the player in the experience. Neither the career mode nor the online mode are especially varied and the appeal of the game is limited to those with an affection for realistic racing experiences. Nevertheless, Need for Speed: Shift is a return to form for the franchise.

Final Fantasy XIII does away with a lot of the components that make out the traditional Final Fantasy formula, which at first feels odd, but the overall experience is still very much a Final Fantasy one. The combat system might just be the best the series' has ever offered and the characters are with a few exceptions well fleshed out. It's a shame that it takes almost twenty hours for the game to realize it's true potential since the experience for those who endure the slow introduction is nothing short of amazing.

Create vehicles by combining pieces like wheels, propellers or balloons, and pilot your creations to the end of the level. Creative and at times pretty hard, with a nice physics engine.
