The difficulty is perfect for the younger crowd, but late teens on up won't find much more than a 6-hour romp here.

This is the Saturday morning cartoon your parents wouldn't dare let you watch, the closest thing to Venture Bros. becoming a video game, and one of the highlights of this year's downloadable titles. The only thing it's missing is a lot of limbs falling off and decapitation, but that's what sequels are for, right?

Definitely worth picking up, and I'm glad I had the chance to check it out. It's nice to get a little more light shined on Roxas and Axel in particular, so fans of those two characters will be pretty pleased I think.

Yomawari: possibly Japanese for "nightmare walking simulator."

It's a fun, fast-paced game with enough eye candy to entertain the undead-killing gunslinger that lives deep inside all of us.

After a nearly 8 year hiatus, Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time is a worthy 4th installment in the Sly Cooper series (especially for under $40), and Sanzaru Games did a great job picking up where Sucker Punch left off. Overall, it's an interesting take on the Sly formula, though ultimately, a fairly safe one.

A bit of affection for the characters certainly helps, and being at least a little entertained by the idea of robots turning into cars is almost a requirement. It's too bad the option isn't there to go online and duke it out with other players and their Minibot-enhanced Autobots or Decepticons.

As I said, there’s pleasure to be found in a bit of neatness and order, and A Little to the Left appeals to that specific part of the brain. But it doesn’t do it consistently enough to make the game worth playing, unless you like having a bit of frustration mixed in with your cute and cozy puzzles.

It’s pretty cool to see a port of this relatively obscure action-platformer make its way to consoles nearly 30 years after its original release. My only real complaint is that I wish there was a little more to the overall package in the way of supplemental material, background info, concept or flyer art, cabinet shots, etc. The cheats and enhancements are cool, and borderline necessary considering the overall difficulty of the game, but for the asking price I’d expect just a little more. Depending on how hardcore your love is for 90’s arcade action games you may want to hold off for a sale down the road, but if you have any affection for Strider or games of its ilk, then Cannon Dancer – Osman will likely be right up your alley.

As far as I’m concerned, what set Hot Pursuit apart was the combat — and honestly, if you’re after high speed racing, big crashes, and a remastered game from a decade ago, I don’t know why you wouldn’t just get Burnout Paradise Remastered instead, since that blended them a lot better. Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered is still above-average as racers go, but if you’re like me, you’ll probably come away from it feeling like it’s not quite as great as you may remember.

Either way, Sleeping Dogs is still a lot of fun, but the when it comes to throwing hard-earned money at 4th quarter releases, I can’t suggest putting this port at the top of your must-have lists.

Metal Gear Acid is a decent tactical card battling game, but it is not a true Metal Gear title, and for me I expect no less.

But it's also got all the quirky baggage of the other GTA games – control issues, mediocre graphics and, this time, a story that falls short of the bar set by others in the series. It also doesn't include the multiplayer modes found on the PSP version, but there are helicopters. Life as a drug dealer is full of tradeoffs.

It's a great game for the DS, and well worth playing. Avoid the Wii version though, I can't really stress that enough.

So if you've always been put off by the micromanagement inherent in most RPG's, Bard's Tale may be just your ticket. If those aspects are part of what draws you in, the game will feel very shallow.

Really the only nagging problems with the game are the simplistic graphics and the camera, which sometimes refuses to go where you want it. If you're looking for something different from the norm, I highly suggest giving Chibi-Robo a try.

This episode builds up nicely to the finale, with a last minute reveal that will make the wait for the last episode seem longer than it likely will be.

The meaty parts make it worth getting through the leaner parts, and for fans with interest in the period or graphic action, it's a keeper.

Even the biggest fan of the band, I would still caution buyer beware and wait to find this on the cheap, if only to have the ability to bring the songs to your current Rock Band 2 collection and the upcoming Rock Band 3.

The colorful visuals, well-paced gameplay and smart dialog came as a bit of a shock. Even more surprising was the part where I kept playing, not because I had to review it, but because I wanted to.

Visually the game lies somewhere between the PS2 versions of Volume 2 and 3 of the famous NBA Street series.

Of course let's not forget about those 1000 achievement points for the whores out there. God forbid you pay 40 dollars and you don't get a new set of achievement points!

It’s not sim enough to match up with Sega’s offering, and Midway has a faster, more fun arcade hockey game in NHL Hitz.

You won't exactly struggle with the controls, but they are nowhere near the excellence seen in the "Tekken" or "Street Fighter EX" series.

A tight playing, fun beat-em-up style action game with a small dash of strategy. Don’t let the historical theme fool you; the game is all about fighting, fighting and more fighting.

It won't make anyone forget what came before it, but if you've been craving more Pixeljunk Shooter-like action for the last few years, Nova-111 should at least give you a bit of a fix.

At the moment there's little on the E-Shop that feels quite like what NightSky has to offer, so I do feel like it's worth checking out, even if it's not quite a flawless experience.

All and all No More Heroes 3 gave me what I wanted, in another blood filled romp in the world of Santa Destroy. This entry is getting a little too close to Saints Row 3 in terms of wackiness, but that said I did like Saints Row 3. In the lead up to the release, Suda51 has said it might be a while before we see Travis again. With that said this was one hell of a ride even if there were bumps along the way, let’s hope we haven’t reached our Final Destination with our leather clad assassin.

For the younger girls out there that are used to playing trash games like Care Bears, Barbie, or the countless movie knock-off games, this game will be a Godsend.

If you've been looking to get a fix on some 2D fighting, you really can't go wrong here. Solid presentation, nearly non-existent load times, a large roster to pick from, and some really solid gameplay make this a definite buy for fans.

It’s got an interesting story and it’s set in an interesting world, but you’ll be spending a lot of time sidetracking into minute, extraneous details that make those bigger picture things difficult to see.

For the most part, though, Just Cause pulls players along with a promise of bigger and badder weaponry.

At this point it’s fair to say the HD port of Shenmue I & II is in better shape than its release and would now be considered acceptable to play. Save data transfer and cutscenes were a big problem, and major bugs seem to be patched out. Both games are here in all their glory and probably the best way to spend your time with Ryo as he follows his journey. Veterans will be happy with the ability to play on modern platforms and newcomers finally have a chance to experience what Shenmue has to offer while Yu Suzuki is hard at work on Shenmue 3.

Unmechanical: Extended won't blow too many people away, but I don't think anyone can doubt its heart is in the right place.

So, ultimately, is the entire package of Resident Evil Revelations 2 worth your time? Absolutely. If you’ve already played the previous chapters, there’s no reason not to check out the fourth and final chapter in the game.

If ever there was a short puzzle game worth the price, it’d be The Room. It packs a lot of content into its relatively brief playing time, and — assuming you aren’t stymied by a system that doesn’t recognize your fingers — it does so with tonnes of style.

As it stands, Pac-Man Museum+ is a solid selection of games from across Pac-Man’s history, but it could also certainly be larger and more comprehensive than it is. It feels more like a random selection of games than a “top hits” sort of thing, and the additional build your arcade feature isn’t particularly interesting. On the plus side, playing through on the Switch in both handheld and TV mode, I felt like the emulation for each title was pretty spot-on. I had seen reports of noticeable lag from a few people, but I never had any big issues with either mode of play. And yeah, it’s cheap enough and features enough good Pac-Man games that it’s sort of hard to not recommend it overall. While not super-impressive as a whole, I prefer this focused approach over another generic Namco collection.

The game is still balls-to-the-wall crazy in its concept, but the execution just feels a bit... watered down.

Those like me that are a sucker for a card game are getting one hell of a deal.

Far from the definitive Madden on the go experience. There are just too many issues with loading, missing features, and visuals, with the former affecting pacing and overall game play experience.

An amusing and entertaining game, and a great addition to the series. With the new game modes and game play elements, LSW III is a must have for any fan.

It's disappointing to be sure, because when you get right down to it, this could be an absolutely excellent game. With better graphics and a tad longer story this game might have been a contender game of the year in some category or another.

I'd say it's a perfect rental, considering the run time of about 6-8 hours, and definitely worth picking up once a price drop kicks in.

Event[0] is one of those games that isn’t for everyone, and in most circumstances would’ve been a game even I passed on. It may be on the short side, but in a world where sometimes games are in an abundance, short may be just want you need.

The Gardens Between is good enough to get you interested in what it has to say, and smart enough to know exactly what to bow out. It’s not perfect by any means, but it’s the kind of game that’s aware enough of its limitations that it doesn’t need to be. Go into it expecting a fun little diversion rather than an all-time classic, and you should find just enough here to make it enjoyable.

Controls aren’t immediately obvious, and with such limited movements within each turn, you’re a) mostly figuring it out as you go along, and b) dying a lot. For many people, of course, the difficulty is the point, especially when we’re talking about survival horror — which, its isometric puzzle trappings notwithstanding, Overland definitely is. It doesn’t hold your hand (which, for some — i.e. me — may be a drawback), so if you’re tired of the current apocalypse and in the mood for one that’s a little different, it might just do the trick.

Still, despite my issues with the hunter role outside of battle, I can’t deny I’ve had some fun with Evolve. It’s certainly a memorable experience, more so with a group of friends working together, but still enjoyable with random online players in tow.

Altogether I feel like it's a great throwback to old Sonic games, but at the same time I wish it was a little more refined and had removed some of the annoyances I had with the previous 2D Sonic games.

There is a new 55 mission storyline that is exclusive to the game and gives Naruto fans a whole new reason to make this a must have title.

The action in Tokyo Xanadu may be a little spread out for my tastes, but when it’s on, it’s pretty fun.

Much like an old arcade title, most of the appeal relies wholly upon how much a player puts into it, the dearth of new content not necessarily a deal-breaker. Still, the small number of stages limits the game's overall appeal, meaning only the dedicated will find long-term enjoyment.

I think that despite the cute visuals and simple, beautiful art style, the difficulty curve of Ivy the Kiwi's later stages are going to put off a lot of gamers.

For the casual gamer, you may want to steer clear of this as the learning curve is nearly as frustrating as golfing in real life.

Ghost ‘n Goblins Resurrection is a mighty fine game. It is insanely hard, and it will test you on a variety of levels. New players may be a little turned off by its difficulty, but if you continue to chip away and don’t completely give up, you can make progress. Rest assured, you will die in this game, a lot, but it’s definitely true to form. This is a must have for anyone who is looking for an overbearing challenge, just make sure you don’t take out your frustrations on your poor Joy-Cons.

I absolutely enjoyed my time with Ara: History Untold, and I think anyone that’s enjoyed a round or two of the Civilization series will feel right at home with this. It also has a solid tutorial to help on-board new players, so even if you’ve never touched a 4X game before, I think you’ll find that Ara is friendly towards new players too. There’s a ton of different ways to build out your empires, and the use of a Prestige system as an option to victory, wherein you gain points for various actions taken, is a solid way of deciding a winner even if you have multiple nations still standing at the end of a game. Definitely check Ara: History Untold out when it launches this week, you won’t be disappointed.

Overall, Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 is a pretty substantial collection (even with Vol. 2 in the works) with six games and a ton of bonus content ranging from graphic novels, soundtracks, scripts and more. Metal Gear Solid is really the only game I have any complaints about. Since it’s being emulated, and there are plenty of emulators out there that can smooth out or upscale textures, they could have used or created an emulator that allows for some smoother textures and/or upscaling. This is still a must have for any Metal Gear fan, and even if you are new to the series or have only played Metal Gear Solid V, this is a perfect opportunity to play the games that started it all!

The scenes you experience while progressing the story are top notch and were a perfect fit for a VR title. At one point, you’re in a morgue and have to use one of our gadgets to scan bodies for shrapnel from an explosion at the Penguin’s hideout. These mechanics also work extremely well with the move controllers, which to be honest, is the best way to experience Arkham VR.

Every time this game was in my hands, I didn’t want it to end. It will make you laugh, feel great about yourself, want to visit Mexico, and mostly wall-run so you can yell “Spicy move!” because you just ran off a wall.

The episode does move the story along at a pretty good clip, and it feels like a pretty substantial and dangerous shift for the group as a whole. The ending has a big cliffhanger, and it’ll be interesting to see how that resolves in the next episode. Hopefully the wait for that isn’t too long, because The New Frontier certainly has its hooks in me thus far.

A quality puzzler for the DS. Furthermore, it's one of the few games out that makes legitimate use of the touch screen.

If you’re looking for a very classic and fun arcade game then you will be very satisfied with what SEGA AGES Space Harrier has on offer because this is one that should not be missed. And I love that we have it on the Switch and my only wish is that M2 will start to bring new games instead of these greatest hits we’ve seen on multiple platforms already!

So is Costume Quest worth picking up, even if you're not a huge RPG fan? Absolutely. It's great as both an entry point for players that don't have a lot of experience in the genre, and it also serves up a lot of fan for people that aren't really RPG fans to begin with.

There's definitely something to be said about a game that will allow you to hijack a helicopter in midair, eject from said helicopter, drop kick another one, and then snatch the rockets from a third to lay waste to a number of tanks and mutants below you. It's just a shame about all the other stuff you have to do in between.

Isn’t without its flaws, but there is way more good than bad, and most of the bad is hardly worth mentioning.

With realism aside, I still had a hard time hating this game. It is fun; I just had to forget all I know about baseball.

Slight edge might be given to the Xbox because of its superior dual analog sticks, but the GCN yellow c-stick isn’t too troublesome.

Now, I can understand if you're a little skeptical of this. I mean, going by the superficial stuff, Atelier Meruru Plus seems like it should be just another JRPG. But look deeper, and you'll find that it's actually a lot more interesting, and addictive, than you could imagine.

The team at Eidos have one-upped themselves and made a sequel that outshines it’s already very good predecessor in every way. From the visuals to the immersive game play, to the addictive online modes, Battlestations: Pacific is another way to experience the overused WWII storyline, while still feeling fresh and exciting.

This game is, to me, nothing more than a sad attempt to cash in on the nominal successes of the first game.

I was really surprised by Everybody’s Golf VR, in the most pleasant way possible. Not being a golf fan by any means, I thoroughly enjoyed what Clap Hanz has done here. If you have a VR, I highly recommend this title, even if you don’t like the actual sport of golf, you will have fun here. It may be a little skimpy with content, but that shouldn’t stop you from checking this one out. This one definitely should not be missed!

And to be honest, multiplayer is a lot of fun, and even though I wish it offered up something that Bad Company 2 didn't already cover, I do think it's worth checking out for people that aren't already fans of what DICE has done before.

All-in-all, these re-releases are the best ways to experience the Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen games. The censor inclusion is mostly whatever, and you do have to buy each language separately as a unique game, but you do get the upcoming support for Pokémon Home, access to legendary and mythical Pokémon not available anymore in the original games, and a significantly larger screen than the 2” screen of a Game Boy Advance to play the games on. Whether you’re a longtime fan looking to relive that nostalgia from when you were younger, a newer fan looking to experience the classics, or someone who’s just now looking into playing Pokémon for the first time, these ports are a great option.

Whoever in Telltale worked on the game spent a proper amount of time on making the concept art and dialogue shine, but far too little on making sure the presentation is up to par.

Beautiful visuals and an inventive story can only take you so far; at some point the gameplay needs to be there too, and as you’ll see time and again, that’s not the case here.

The story is well-told, with a tight cast of memorable characters that help deliver the tale really well, in addition to limited animation during scenes to keep you entertained, and a hefty payoff with an epilogue chapter that helps tie everything up neatly. I’d certainly be down to check out more games in the series, whether that’s the older ports on Switch Online, or possible future entries down the line. If you get a chance to check out Emio, whether you’re into visual novels or not, I think you’ll enjoy your time with it.

Hitman: Absolution represents the series’ awkward, stumbling growth period. Play it you want to see where some of the ideas in the World of Assassination trilogy got their start, but don’t expect the game to reach anywhere near the same heights.

It took a while, but MLB 2K10 has fixed enough, and added enough, to be an excellent way to play a baseball game on your TV. The multiplayer issues need to be fixed as soon as possible, but we're looking forward to the series using this year as a foundation for the future.

While I think Shattered Dimensions looks great (it really does), the substance found here is lacking. Combat is a little bland and repetitive, and stage design doesn't really allow for so much web slinging as it does web-zipping, by having edges or platforms that you can shoot across instead of literally swinging through a city, town or open area.

The 3D stuff looks pretty great, and since Tetris doesn't involve much action, it doesn't tax your eyes like other titles might.

If Hotshot Racing were just a little more balanced, it would’ve been something special, but as it stands, it feels more like a missed opportunity.

There's a lot of charm in it, not to mention the gobs of replay value that come from having two endings and over 175 recruitable characters. At the same time though, that charm does little to ease the blow of the unsatisfying conclusions, nor does it help much when you run into one of the few rough patches and, let's face it, there's only so many inane sidequests one can tolerate.

It’s an interesting take on a formula you’d think would be played out by now, done in a way that shows there’s life in the card-based genre yet.

Combat is fun, but you realize that the game has to cheat a bit to make it work.

Besides being a beautiful translation of one of Capcom’s best fighting game series, it is quite possibly the best handheld fighting game ever created.

While Army of Two doesn't do anything totally revolutionary, it does deliver something that is seriously lacking at this time, which is a great game that two people can get totally engrossed in without having to join up with a large team.

And for those who prefer physical possessions to digitized property, collections like this will always have a place on the shelf.

The fighters are scary-real looking, and they animate without hiccups and with perfect transitions. Facial expressions are also top notch.

I, like many others, get tired of the same old weapons and the same old shooting sequences with the only delta being changing environments.

One of the best action-platformers ever. Not since the 2D Super Mario titles has a title captured technical jumps, tight balances, and split second timing so well.

You’ve got an interesting setting, a ton of material, all kinds of ideas, and a studio that clearly knows what it’s doing. That all of that got combined into something as forgettable as this is pretty disappointing, and it makes it awfully easy to skip past this game without a second thought.

Regardless of which version you purchase, Starlink: Battle For Atlas will provide one of the best console space shooters in years, and is now my favorite Star Fox game of all time.

Overall, I’ve really enjoyed my time with Pinball FX and can definitely see myself continuing to play down the road. I’m excited to see what tables are coming next, and as a casual pinball player I’d say the physics here feel pretty great on current-gen consoles. Also, you can give it a try for free, as the base download will grant you one free table. If you complete the tutorial mode, you’ll also get a free 24hr Pinball Pass that’ll allow you to download and try out every table available, so you can really decide for yourself if the latest iteration of Pinball FX is for you.

I hope that if EA follows this up, they continue the same engine effort, yet fix that blasted A.I. and add some depth.

So while I appreciate the cosmetic changes made with the menus and the inclusion of the Japanese voice track, I'm not a huge fan of the slight changes made to the actual gameplay.

The creative Pro Tour Mode, visuals, and timed button gameplay are highlights. Though you’ll probably want to fast forward past the limiting pro player controls and dull Pro Tour AI.

While both tables offer something unique, you will most likely enjoy Castlestorm the most, as it’s the most fun to play. Wild West Rampage isn't completely terrible, but it’s not one you’ll be coming back to very often.

All of which is to say, Devil May Cry isn’t a great game by today’s standards — but, if you look at it through the perspective of 2001, you can see why it blew so many people away. It probably doesn’t stand up if you’re directly comparing it to more modern action games, but if you go in hoping for a slice of history that’s still playable, then it’ll do the trick.
